Literally having to go into an infotainment menu to adjust the direction of the air vents is one of the worst ideas (relative to the subject at hand) I've ever heard of. If not being able to adjust them at all is the baseline at 0/10, then having to use a menu system is maybe at best a 1.5/10; if the needed menu is within 1 or 2 button presses.

@fukuoka33Culture is sort of only for gas cars tho, we Chinese already missed that period since when the culture was cooking in Europe and US, most of Chinese back then couldn’t even afford enough protein like meat and fish. If you show my mother in Shanghai a Ferrari Testrossa today, she would think it’s absolutely gorgeous and will really love it. But if you show her the first gen Tesla model S, she would consider it out dated despite the fact that the Testrossa came way way before the first model S. Tech evolves fast, if you put them in cars then it would soon be old without the culture even forming. On the contrary, if you put no tech in the cabin, it would be timeless for sure, like for example a Bugatti, but it just wouldn’t be practical as a car which you would drive to the market in city Traffic where you probably want the car to drive itself.

Tesla aint restricted by culture, BYD ain't restricted by culture, the reason why I mentioned these 2 companies is because they are leading the EV section. Ppl putting vegan leather in cars, 11" infotainment or even bigger than that(Lexus). I bet u were talking about European preferences are brands, sentimental reasons, and also status. They don't take new things, hence they are cultural? Not just Chinese, japanese, Korean, SEA and more have no automotive cultures, right? Hahahaha "many years behind" is a good term to show u what happened to Motorola and Sony Ericsson. Btw, I'm not china Chinese. I'm an international Chinese person who lives somewhere very far from China. Can't believe ppl put "culture" and that's important. Btw, ur next EV car may not be so cultural because u may find Chinese batteries within. Lol

If people are guessing that it's worth over 2x the actual price and whenever you drive it, you get swarmed by people, it's a pretty decent value proposition off of design alone. Even hypercars don't get that much attention.

I somewhat bash it because there are loads of new companies, like this, like Jetour, like BYD, and others, all popping out cars like crazy. Which, is very interesting, especially how much of a competition they are becoming to Tesla. - But I haven't seen the long term of these cars or the brand, And enough Chinese car companies are also going bankrupt at similar rates. - lets not forget that this hiphi is a company that started making cars in late 2020, early 2021.. you're essentially buying from a "start up" without the pedigree or proven reliability/support.
And I'd like to know that when I purchase a car, I can have support for the next 8-10 years. (which is already a struggle for any electric car)
But purchasing a lesser known Chinese brand in Europe comes with it's own challenges as they are still quite rare. Like dealers, maintenance, support, parts. It's similar to buying a Ford F150 Raptor in Europe.. you'd struggle to find support, maintenance, tyres, parts etc. because it is such an uncommon car.
Hell, even Tesla right now struggles to get enough parts for Cybertrucks within their own country....
And, besides that, I've been in a few Chinese brands, and they do often feel quite cheap compared to European brands. Materials, button feel, operating system, suspension etc.

this car gave my many design choices similar to teslas... and that worries me if it will also have some safety missteps like them.
notably, the electric doors. the exterior doors when the fob was dead appeared to have zero way of actually sitting inside besides recharging it. that leaves zero mechanical way to open the doors from the outside, making that actually worse than teslas (as teslas are only stuck when the car is dead). i'm not even sure if this car has interior emergency release handles to exit the car.

Considering how Chinese-made products were soo bad in past decades, Chinese EVs are literally swiping the domestic market than Germans, Americans and Japanese. Look at the sales data, it's like a third-world market, but the best one than the other two. Hope mat can review more Chinese EVs in the future. Nice one.

That episode seemed prophetic even at the time. I just find it sad the reason why we're going to have Chinese cars because we're not manufacturing BEVs better domestically. Clinging onto Piston Engine fuel burning cars for too long has screwed us over.
