He really does seam like a genuine guy. Down to earth and adds a little fun. I like that he was told he could never be an auto journalist and then just proved them wrong. Always a good watch. He deserves every success
I believe that Mat could be the only person able to return Top Gear to its former greatness. Of course no one could really predict how that would go, but it would certainly be the only thing to make me come back to watching it. Just imagine Mat going on those Top Gear special/ Grand Tour style adventures; i would be sooo happy about that, but even the regular episodes would probably be a blast to watch.

What a great interview with Mat. Comes across as such an enthusiastic journalist.
Honestly the biggest selling point for CarWow's UA-cam channel is that Matt is funny, a bit rude sometimes and very personable. He's a normal quirky human being and I think viewers can relate to him. I certainly can!

Carwow is by a margin the most consistent car reviewer in the English speaking world. If they have a full review up for a car and filmed in the UK, I KNOW for a fact what will be tested and reviewed in the video. Alot of car websites and reviewers are inconsistent with what they show and how in depth they go in the review. I live in America and If I'm looking at a car that's also sold in the UK, I trust carwow to give me the most information on it.

Car wow is more approachable for all, funny , and for the clicks.
None of those channels follow as strict of a format as carwow. Carwow, in all of their full reviews, will take a look at the exact same 50 or so things, often in one or a few takes. @@eden5260
The Spin off channels are great too. German and Spanish hosts are doing a great job on those channels.
@@eden5260Tom Voelk, Harry's Garage. But still, the carwow reviews are good too. Another fun reviewer is Sarah 'N Tuned, she does cool car projects too and has a really fun personality.
Carwow is like MacDonald's, it's the biggest cause it has mass appeal to ordinary folks! Milktoast of car review channels!
I told myself that 1hr was too long for UA-cam but then this proved me wrong. Watched it all in a sitting.
I can't pinpoint why but I just loved it all.
Matt has an interesting personality, one I was raised to think of as "unserious" but I watch almost every Car Wow video.
If the world were filled with people like me, it'd be a boring place to live in.

for me Matt from Carwow and Doug from Doug DeMuro are the only 2 reviewers that bring value without being extra flashy. Love them

His car enthusiasm is infectious, I have watched him from the start and it's great to see how well he doing.
I agree with Mat, 205 GTi best hot hatch that I've had through the years. Upgraded the engine to the 405 Mi16 with 45 webbers took that car up to 185bhp with no rev limiter.
Really pleased for Matt, really like his sense of humour….& the drag races! More power to his elbow & CarWow.
Watching for so many years, it’s been amazing see Mat getting into his stride. CarWow is definitely my favorite channel.
I met mat on the tube once and we had a great chat. A proper nice guy and really down to earth
The car Matt Drove was a McMurtry car a one-seater hypercar which has a vacuum system which sucks itself to the road at all times so it has maximum downforce he drove it in 7.6 seconds to a quarter mile it broke the hill climb record as well. It's an amazing car and you can buy one for the road the suction is adjustable and the power is as well you can dial in the HP upto a 1000 hp or you can dial it down for road use.
It is a custom built car and there are plenty of cars out there like that with different characteristics.
And it doesn't "suck" itself to the ground lol

It's amazing what Mat has achieved, was previously working on Car Buyer unfortunately never recovered from Mat leaving. Car buyer UA-cam channel on 623k subs, upload 1 video per month and lucky to get 50k views.
Car wow which started 5 years after car buyer got over 8.5 million subs and most videos get 1 million views. The key ingredient is Mat does such an amazing job.
One thing I would like Mat to bring in commentary on security of the cars - we all know locking / tracking systems are really important issues and marques like range rover have a major problem, a commentary on how strong the car security is would be helpful (and might make car manufacturers do something about it).
Cars have multiple levels of theft deterrent. Tesla monitoring system for example.

People's attention spans are growing ever shorter. Matt hit the nail on the head by just creating short, sharp, drag-racing videos. These are easily digestible.
Others have tried to mimic it to some extent since but Carwow got there first.

Funny to see Tesla fans pitching Matt that same tired line about Tesla being a tech company.
Tesla doesn't sell tech, does not generate any income from licensing technology. On its revenue statements almost all income comes from selling cars with just a trickle from their side gigs in solar/battery and just a touch of insurance. Maybe there is the possibility of sometime in the future licensing their tech but they aren't pursuing it today.
I´m so used to Matt that he even feels like a relative to me somehow, I've been watching his videos since he started out at car buyer that many years ago. Amazing icon of the motor journalism.
I’ve always said, Matt would be an amazing Top Gear host. Him, Rory from Auto Trader and and, wildcard, Yanny! 3 of them will be great to watch.
Mat Watson is one of those people that I'd like to meet and talk to. He's down to earth, very intelligent (but doesn't jam his intelligence down your throat - just let's you find out for yourself), and comes across as your best mate....all at the same time. To me he is the car world's Tom Hanks - infinitely likeable.
not to mention when he is in a video with his friends he very very funny, would definitely be a great friend to have

It's a crucial factor for a normal person to consider a daily vehicle.
Some channels just discuss FANCY tech, however, we still need to search for the price by ourselves in the end .

Mmhh I’m using winter tires longer period than summer in North Finland. Tire hotels are solution to store and replacing second set of tires. I know also few that 3 set of tires. Summer, fall/spring and winter😎

income is a private thing as is wealthy. This channel is all about wealth and investing and other things so clearly they can state what they have for transparency but that is not the case for society as a whole.

Sometimes charging can be a great social experience. Other drivers tend to talk about their car and experience. I recently paid for a charge with my phone for a couple that couldn't get their bank card to work. I used my phone to start their charging session and they gave me some cash, I realised they'd overpaid and gave them a tenner back.

Never been somebody who is bothered about meeting famous people but Matt seems like he would be fun to meet.
Agree with Mat on Tesla and Elon...wow didn't know he was an accountant what a great transition and story on following your passion!
No Mat is telling you he does not understand Tesla as an investor. And his hunch about valuation of the business is a classical investment mistake but you can tell that his interest in passive investment shows that. I think his honest is fresh on the issue.
On a financial basis Tesla valuation seems to show that its intrinsic value is far lower than the market valuation.
The problem with all of that is the financials do not give a true metric of long term valuation. Try doing that to the valuation of Apple and Microsoft in 1985. You would be way off the market if you used pure financials.
Toyota makes the same total net profit as Tesla despite selling 10x the cars. Just saying.

Unfortunately, Mat has no idea what he's talking about with Tesla's valuation. But that's why he's just invested in index funds.

Matt helped me with choosing my Nissan Micra, i was debating on 3 different cars, im also a lad from Walsall so i love a bargain, When i saw his videos and heard his accent i felt right at home. So yea great reviews, also great interview.
Om my god Mat, I didn't think I could love you any more, but you just saying the pug 205 gti is your favourite hot hatch just made me cargasm! I had an 89 plate 1.9 which I'm convinced was chipped as it was mental quick! It also had a cat body kit, and being red, it was just georgous!

Tesla on a direct financial analysis is probably over valued but valuation is not just based on financials. An assets valuation especially as a start up is really hard to put your finger on.
Tesla has gone from an effective kit car builder to a nuts and bolts manufacture in a space of about 15 years and today is sitting on about $20 billion cash on hand.
