If you're trying a crucible knight build, use the clawmark seal. Ordovis' greatsword and Siluria's tree both scale better off strength, so you'll get more value with a strength seal
There is one great thing about the two finger incarntations: The AOE Healing Spells can kill Revenants like nothing. They just melt them away. Such a great feeling.

"It's better damage, better stagger... Papa John's" *composure breaks like a vase hit by a sledgehammer* I should not have laughed at that as hard as I did.
You could have split the schools like Haima, karolos and olivinus. Their spell types are very different and could stand their ground by their own. Some classes can even get individual boosts. Like the majority of karolos spells (comet etc.) are boosted by the azur helmet and the majority of olivinus (star shower etc.) by lusat's. Glint blades and carian swords are technically also two different categories, but I understand where you're coming from.
If I recall Night Comet still has the highest base damage of any single shot sorcery in the game (with night staff + Lusats/scepter another night staff) and I think that should bump night sorceries up a letter grade.
At very high INT it's actually second iirc. And it requires two night staffs(so a trade or ng+ only). However, it can be argued it's better DPS since enemies don't dodge it.
I know it's an incantation, and in elden ring incantations really got the big slice of attention, but dragonmaw probably stands at the very top of 1 hit of damage. just a guess, since my non minmaxed character hits for 3300 in one hit
@@dukeoog5466 The original comment says sorcery, so they would still be correct. Also, NC still hits harder than any other one-hit sorcery with only one staff of loss
I honestly LOVE the different mage outfits throughout the schools, even within the same school. Magic has always been my favorite element of any fantasy series, and Elden Ring is up there.
My first playthrough was a dual blood dagger thief but I brought gravity spells in simply because they're really cool. Being a blender that everyone is afraid to approach is really fun but it's more fun being a blender that you can't escape from.
Unironically, if you want a cool new Metroidvania to check out, "Ghost Song" has been pretty amazing for me so far. Kinda shooter like Metroid, but so much customization and even maybe classes?? Idk I'm not very far. But it reminds me of an alien Hollowknight that scratches yet another Silksong itch
Oracular bubble (big bubble spell) can be spam casted right before several main bosses spawn and then will insta delete the boss when they appear in the bubble explosion. Pretty underrated spell in pve tbh
Gravity is my personal favorite right now when you include weapon magic. Waves of darkness helps out a ton for rot dogs and other enemies. You'll take a hit or two in the initial slam. But the third stagger takes out small enemies and will leave harder ones wide open for a double slam. I use it on great stars.
I love the body language on the Frenzied Flame and Golden Order Fundamentalist spells. Makes me wanna play with them. I'm already theorizing about a new playthrough lol
Frenzy spells are great. The only downside is the somewhat long cast time on all of them, it made me pick up a flame art halberd for the later bosses. Still, once you successfully stagger a boss you can shotgun them for a few k damage at the least. And while inescapable frenzy is no good in pve, it's a decent mixup for any invaders. Plus hitting with it makes you feel like a god.
Yeah, the Golden Order Fundamentalist spells have really a really cool "choreography" to them. As far as Flame of Frenzy goes, Frenzied Burst is my favourite - the anticipation before the burst is great, and the projectile flying mostly straight but still swiveling a little is so satisfying to watch
Same. Love how they can tell a bit of a story when using these spells. And wish more games implement this kind of body language into their magic. That little bit can go a long way.
A friend and I ran over half of our first playthrough as Ordovis and Siluria for funsies (I as our tanky frontliner and him as a caster with a spear) and those Crucible spells work extremely well as utility for a melee build. Bonus points to the horn for being the best anti-invader tool I had, because nobody expected the boring sword & board guy to suddenly charge them at the speed of sound.
I wish bloodboon functioned like how it does when you fight mohg, where it either fires in a spread for wide area coverage or in a straight line directly at your enemy, would make it more versatile and stand out.
Y'all need to use blood flame talons possibly most underrated roll catching tool ever considering u roll left or right u get hit instead of making them roll backwards
@@warcoder iirc, „Claws“ is the only weapon type that doesn’t have any unique weapons/Ashes of War. So fromsoft could‘ve either given us a Mohg-themed claw weapon with the Bloodflame Talon AoW, or they could’ve given us a Bloodflame Talon AoW, akin to Astel with Waves of Darkness
A note on the frenzy spells: the basic-seeming Flame of Frenzy spell only gains some range and AOE from charging. If you insta-cast it repeatedly for as long as you can without going insane it does amazing poise damage. If you can get close enough to Malenia without dying to fire it off 2 or 3 times in a row she WILL stagger.
Also, Frenzied Burst doesn’t trigger auto-dodges, so you can smack Malenia in the face from range. I actually didn’t realize she dodged spells until I was helping a friend kill her.
It’s funny you should say that you can make a build based on the cold sorceries because that’s just what I did (and it’s not a snow witch). I made a Santa build using cold and night sorceries, and also used St. Trina’s sword for the sleep effect. It’s a lot of fun
I'm glad Ragnarok still got best narrative tbh. It was kinda funny though, if either of those two games were in a category no one else even got looked at lmfao.
I love how you found your niche in "Elden Ring Advanced classes" type videos and created who you are from there. I hope you catch your sense of humor, timing, editing style, and take it beyond just Elden Ring. You will eventually go dry on this, but that's okay! You have the personality and potential to go nuts in a different direction. Go with what you can do well, with what you love to work with. Don't limit yourself! You got this! Best of luck, Rusty
Honestly this just made me think we should have a category of spells that I'm going to refer to as primer spells. You prep the spell beforehand and then you can cast it instantly within a given time (10 seconds or so to encourage you to use it but punish you for waiting
I actually really like how you do sponsors. I can't tell you why, but most of the time they don't feel intrusive like others. Y'know, despite the whole bit
Giantsflame take thee is hilarious in PvE. If you can knock an enemy down with it, you can stun lock them into a loop of repeated explosions, tossing them like a ragdoll across the room.
Love the video! The only thing I'd like to add is that the Darkness incantation has a bit more potential than you may think. In addition to blinding enemies, it opens them up to sneak attacks as if they were unaware of your presence, increasing your damage. This lets you land some free backstabs. I tend to use it less as an escape tool and more of a Crowd Control Tool. If you are good at positioning, you can easily score a backstab on two targets caught in it. Combining it with the Assassin's Cerulean Dagger Talisman causes it to restore slightly more FP than you spent on it as long as you backstab two targets, enabling you to do a vicious cycle of Darkness > Backstab > Backstab > Repeat if you are good, with virtually no FP cost due to the Talisman. I do this frequently on tightly packed rooms where I know enemies will corner me. I know it's a niche spell that does niche things, but I thought it was pretty cool.
And now you can finally rank every enemy in the game. That wont be miserable, not at all. :) No, but for real, your videos have been very entertaining lately. I like the combination of dry humor and genuine guide you are going for.
something i wanna note for a couple of these schools coming back a year later with more knowledge, specifically as a incantation main 1. if you want to use the servant of rot, dragon, frenzy, and/or bloodflame spells, use the dragon communion seal at atmost 43/43 FTH/ARC 2. on the topic of the DCS, using that seal not only buffs damage of your incantations, but because IT scales off arcane, your STATUS BUILDUP DOES TOO.... and that's why i said to use it with frenzy. however your arcane WILL NOT increase the damage of your weapon buff spells, that is purely faith 3. if you're using bloodflame incantations, use the Lord of Blood Talisman, fire scorpion charm, white mask, bloodflame, and a weapon with innate bleed, thank me later 4. if you're using POISON AND ROT INCANTATIONS, use the kin of rot talisman, rotten wing talisman, alexander shard, and mushroom helmet with a weapon with innate poison THAT you gave the "Poison Moth Flight" Ash of war.... thank me later. (note: PMF will only pop poison, it does not use rot, sorry bros but it does get a buff from deadly poison >:D) 5. you can put the two previous builds together for hilarious results with twin weapons that proc bleed and poison.
It makes me mad that some people rank the gravel stone seal so low in incantation seal lists, because it buffs one of the best schools of magic in the game. Getting up to 8k damage with a single ancient dragon lightning strike is like dps heroin
@@Lowlightt I mean majority of the people run 1 unleveled and 1 leveled seal, depending of your faith you either run 2x seal for type you want to buff, or 1x buff seal and 1x erdtree seal

18:54 that sound effect/rating timing with the spell was great i was yawning through most of this video, but it was a good video nonetheless keep up the great content!
I've found frost witch, flame monk, carian knight, frenzied flame and dragon incanter to be the most fun magic/faith builds for me. It's so easy to tweek these builds into hybrids for more variety as well to deal with a wider variety of situations, but I'm also only a couple lvls away from max so stats aren't really a concern for me like they were at the start.
Something even more infuriating about the Aberrant Sorceries(the two Briar spells) is that, in addition to scaling purely off Faith, they also have the most support equipment in game, with the Staff of the Guilty providing a 20% boost and the Alberich's set giving 5% per piece sans boots, resulting in a 35% total boost when equipped with everything, which is irritating to say the least. However, in terms of sheer WTF levels of boost, then it doesn't get better than Night and Gravity Sorceries. Each of their respective staffs(Staff of Loss and Meteorite Staff) provide a 30% boost, meaning that, if you can get a second copy of each staff(attained via either NG+ or someone dropping them for you) you can have a whopping 60% boost.
Something to be reminded though is darkness also makes enemies able to be backstabbed as they lose track and awareness of you, if you're running a critical build or any kind of like backstab potential, this becomes a very fun spell making multiple enemies lose track of you while being able to chain backstab through them
Have you seen the combo for pvp with the bubble. You cast the multiple bubbles then use the tree sentinel shield to put out many high damage projectiles from deflecting your own spells
I've found a way to make Explosive Ghostflame work really well in PVP and PVE which is just casting Black Flame Ritual beforehand. BFR can obscure me while casting EGF which can catch people off guard in PVP and in PVE BFR can keep enemies staggered so I won't be interrupted while casting EGF.
@@Jopeymessmusic BFR is also a good way to cast Radagon's Ring of Light without interruptions. Caught a few people with it in PVP too, not a guarantee hit but it helps getting the cast out.
@@nicko0904 I've been trying a few AOE spells in PvP the last few months but was using the leaden hardtear to tank the interrupt potential. Using other spells to mask them is something I genuinely hadn't considered, lol.
Pretty accurate summary of the game's spells I think: a lot of the more specialized ones like frost, Death, Magma, and Madness just need more spells to work with. What we have is great, but as someone who tends to pick a magic type and glue myself to using that subtype, the lack of variety cripples the gameplay of builds I love in concept. I could never land the meteor spells for the life of me, but I still love them if I think they could use some better tracking, range so they don't just fly into the ground in front of me, or a spell that works like how the Onyx Lords use meteorite. Crystal sorceries are some of my favorites, blending nicely with Academy and Carian to keep aggressive enemies and players off of me: Crystal Torrent needs improvement, though. All in all, any new spell in any school would be an improvement: I will say with lightning that especially due to the lightning scaling difference... Lightning is great, but is just missing something I can't quite place. I wish we had more enemy magic attacks we could use ourselves, as this could expand a lot of schools in many ways. Also, the voice in the intro is about how I picture my sorceress character sounding. Perfectly in character, too.
frenzied burst also has what is maybe the best range in the game (for a spell), travels crazy fast, and has some pretty decent damage, those annoying ass birds in that one part of Farum Azula? there's no better choice than sniping them from a safe distance with frenzied burst, it hasn't left my loadout even once since I got it
I'm still pissed that we don't have an ancient dragons honed bolt (and more pissed the dragon sentinel and beastmen have it) or the banished knights fire breath. These should've been no brainers.
This is why I love convergence mod because they make the whole magic system so fun to play around and the fact that they let you more easily to mix and match multiple schools into your build really allows you to have fun with building your own magic playstyle
I'm loving the colloseums. I use incantations and powerstance two cross naginatas. I don't know why but I'm getting a lot of matches at level 286. I thought the meta level was 150 to 200.
Meta is 125-150 or, more specifically, those are the first two meta ranges. But there are large groups of people come back to the game for the coliseum and those people don’t care about meta levels. In a week or so, it will slow down for you. If you decide you really like pvp, go past 300 since after 300 you can match with anybody up to max level. Or start a new character and take him to level 137, so you can fight both 125s and 150s where everyone is
Neat thing about the Poison Mist Incantation, and perhaps all Mist Spells and Incantations, you can use it/them while crouched and without alerting enemies. So if you don't mind waiting for poison to kill a foe, you can just poison them and hide and wait, go get a sandwich or something. Pretty neat if you've been through the ringer, out of flasks and have a chunky boy in your way and you've made too much progress to turn back.
One thing i will say with bigger bubble is that because it stops and hangs in the air you can send a couple down range to stop in front of the target enemy then hit them with another bubble/lorettas and watch then turn and move into the bigger bubble. its a fucking trap setting magic and i love it. When i finish my incantation run (Run 2, run 1 was general mage build [Minimal melee]) i might do challenge runs of sorc, though i would probably try and put 2-3 schools together unless they are large.
Another point in favor of the frenzied flame incantations is that the eye beam has a fairly high range, especially for an incantation. You can pretty easily snipe enemies from afar with this.
22:13 oh with blood boon it takes your angle into account. If you aim it high you can actually get it to splash up a bit and if you move or angle while casting it can hit a wider area. It's really versatile and the blood flame pools stay for a decent amount of time. Reaaally good against the giant sea creatures in the consecrated snow field
God I'm so fucking mad frenzy flame wasn't something that could afflict most enemies. I would have fucking loved watching a dragon freak out and go nuts with Madness
Darkness works AMAZINGLY well with the black bow and any high damage bow ash of war. Set up the smog, and they literally cant see you shoot your bow if your positioned right. Makes for some surprisingly easy free hits.
i have to say... subscribed the moment you had that transition into the sponsor... LOL usually skip those but i literally rewind it a couple times! hilarious!
I enjoy the obsessive amount of detail that went into just pictures when casting, as though the guy put in charge of them just went home, cracked, and started scrawling DEEPESTLORE over the walls of their house.
Crucible tail can get a lot of enemies stuck in poise break loops of basically Charged Crucible tail>Charged R2>Poise break crit>repeat Very useful for killing Omens or other annoying large enemies.

The sponsor transition genuinely made me laugh
"I swear to God if this is another f*cking spons-" "HAVE YOU EVER HEARD ABOUT WAR THUNDER????" 😂😂
'Raya Lucaria, where the magic of friendship is no longer taught due to the shattering'
You should rank all the NPC summons. There are enough of them for it to be interesting, and some of them will be very obscure to keep it interesting
1. Mimic Tear
2. Black Knife
@@itsm9818 those are spirit summons, not NPC summons. Specific bosses have NPCs that you can summon as if they were another player to help you with the fight

Adula's moonblade and rock sling carry their respective categories, two best spells in the game by far imo. I usually run adula's for up-close fighting, rock sling for mid-range battles, and loretta's greatbow for long range engagements.
"It's better damage, better stagger... Papa John's"
*composure breaks like a vase hit by a sledgehammer*
I should not have laughed at that as hard as I did.
I was in the car hearing that line. The laughter was gutteral 🤣
Shadow bait works on omens because omens quite literally are humans, just with the Crucible's blessing.
@@Nasgatemk2 Which one’s first in dmg? And what’s the fp cost difference between them?
I know it's an incantation, and in elden ring incantations really got the big slice of attention, but dragonmaw probably stands at the very top of 1 hit of damage. just a guess, since my non minmaxed character hits for 3300 in one hit
@@dukeoog5466 The original comment says sorcery, so they would still be correct. Also, NC still hits harder than any other one-hit sorcery with only one staff of loss
I honestly LOVE the different mage outfits throughout the schools, even within the same school. Magic has always been my favorite element of any fantasy series, and Elden Ring is up there.
I agree
My first playthrough was a dual blood dagger thief but I brought gravity spells in simply because they're really cool. Being a blender that everyone is afraid to approach is really fun but it's more fun being a blender that you can't escape from.
Unironically, if you want a cool new Metroidvania to check out, "Ghost Song" has been pretty amazing for me so far. Kinda shooter like Metroid, but so much customization and even maybe classes?? Idk I'm not very far. But it reminds me of an alien Hollowknight that scratches yet another Silksong itch
Actually played it a couple days after it came out. Level design was really cool. It was shorter than I expected but it was good for the money imo.
We are 100% Trust Worthy due to all our conversations here is been recorded and published out there to avoid any fraudulent activities….
Word it’s so regal idk it’s dope
Yeah, the Golden Order Fundamentalist spells have really a really cool "choreography" to them. As far as Flame of Frenzy goes, Frenzied Burst is my favourite - the anticipation before the burst is great, and the projectile flying mostly straight but still swiveling a little is so satisfying to watch
Same. Love how they can tell a bit of a story when using these spells. And wish more games implement this kind of body language into their magic. That little bit can go a long way.
Do you ever just defensively sneeze a rocket at your enemy?
WOW that intro skit was shot and edited super well! I'm new to the channel, but I think I'm sticking around after this one.
I would be happy if we get the blood shower.
@@warcoder Yes!!! I agree! That spell is so cool-looking and would be amazing for area denial in PvP.
Y'all need to use blood flame talons possibly most underrated roll catching tool ever considering u roll left or right u get hit instead of making them roll backwards
@@journeymanofhope9866 it would great if there was an ash of war version for claw weapons
Strangely, there's another magic category, the "All knowing", but it's only present in a single weapon art, but it has his own symbol and color.
Congrats to ER for all the awards!

He was doing Hollow Knight before this, he'll most likely cover Silksong when it releases. I think he'll be alright.

so it kinda has a special place in my heart
'my first Elden Beast' makes is sounds like there is a bunch of them running around in the woods or something...haha. 'Its coming right for us!'
Honestly this just made me think we should have a category of spells that I'm going to refer to as primer spells.
You prep the spell beforehand and then you can cast it instantly within a given time (10 seconds or so to encourage you to use it but punish you for waiting
man just puts TOO much effort into his videos like god damn why are they this good
3:23 paused at the wrong time
Lol
I actually really like how you do sponsors. I can't tell you why, but most of the time they don't feel intrusive like others. Y'know, despite the whole bit
@Rusty3 BOT BOT BOT
Giantsflame take thee is hilarious in PvE. If you can knock an enemy down with it, you can stun lock them into a loop of repeated explosions, tossing them like a ragdoll across the room.
I love the crystal shotgun barrage for a spellblade kinda build, incredible for staggering and does brilliant damage close up.
I love the intro, it’s hilarious
That intro was freaking amazing, though. I love the old timey infomercial style of it.
And now you can finally rank every enemy in the game. That wont be miserable, not at all. :)
No, but for real, your videos have been very entertaining lately. I like the combination of dry humor and genuine guide you are going for.
Prepare for crab
@Austin I. Crab therefore despair
something i wanna note for a couple of these schools coming back a year later with more knowledge, specifically as a incantation main
1. if you want to use the servant of rot, dragon, frenzy, and/or bloodflame spells, use the dragon communion seal at atmost 43/43 FTH/ARC
2. on the topic of the DCS, using that seal not only buffs damage of your incantations, but because IT scales off arcane, your STATUS BUILDUP DOES TOO.... and that's why i said to use it with frenzy. however your arcane WILL NOT increase the damage of your weapon buff spells, that is purely faith
3. if you're using bloodflame incantations, use the Lord of Blood Talisman, fire scorpion charm, white mask, bloodflame, and a weapon with innate bleed, thank me later
4. if you're using POISON AND ROT INCANTATIONS, use the kin of rot talisman, rotten wing talisman, alexander shard, and mushroom helmet with a weapon with innate poison THAT you gave the "Poison Moth Flight" Ash of war.... thank me later. (note: PMF will only pop poison, it does not use rot, sorry bros but it does get a buff from deadly poison >:D)
5. you can put the two previous builds together for hilarious results with twin weapons that proc bleed and poison.
It makes me mad that some people rank the gravel stone seal so low in incantation seal lists, because it buffs one of the best schools of magic in the game. Getting up to 8k damage with a single ancient dragon lightning strike is like dps heroin
The problem with the gravel stone seal is that even with the buff it gives its still weaker than some other seals depending on your stats.
@@Lowlightt I mean majority of the people run 1 unleveled and 1 leveled seal, depending of your faith you either run 2x seal for type you want to buff, or 1x buff seal and 1x erdtree seal
@@Just_B0red pretty much true.though I have a +25 gravel stone seal the incantation scaling started to fall off drastically compared to the erdtree seal at 90 faith because i always run a mixture of dragon cult/communion the gravel stone seal just didn't cut it anymore but it is very very good when using it on the offhand with the erdtree seal
18:54 that sound effect/rating timing with the spell was great
i was yawning through most of this video, but it was a good video nonetheless
keep up the great content!
LOVE the bioshock-esque intro. Awesome!
The Raya Lucaria PSA was brilliant. I need more like that
Hey Rusty just wanted to say your a really underrated UA-camr and editing is getting better. Keep up the good work!
As a mainly glintstone sorcery player, in my defense: I just love to throw shiny balls around because I am a fuggin wizard.
:+1: for that intro alone man, good stuff!
Something to be reminded though is darkness also makes enemies able to be backstabbed as they lose track and awareness of you, if you're running a critical build or any kind of like backstab potential, this becomes a very fun spell making multiple enemies lose track of you while being able to chain backstab through them
Tibia summons has been buffed so many time now and still somehow remains absolutely terrible. That’s actually pretty impressive
Have you seen the combo for pvp with the bubble. You cast the multiple bubbles then use the tree sentinel shield to put out many high damage projectiles from deflecting your own spells
This was actually very informative. I just stabbed everything with pointy sticks and called it a day. I didn't dip into magic at all lol.
Sometimes I just put on these videos on in the background because I like listening to this man talk about things I don’t understand
Oh, that is a good mix up! Definitely yoinking it to try!
@@Jopeymessmusic BFR is also a good way to cast Radagon's Ring of Light without interruptions. Caught a few people with it in PVP too, not a guarantee hit but it helps getting the cast out.
Black Flame Ritual is my favorite spell due to the play patterns it offers. Thank you for another!
Perfectly in character, too.
frenzied burst also has what is maybe the best range in the game (for a spell), travels crazy fast, and has some pretty decent damage, those annoying ass birds in that one part of Farum Azula? there's no better choice than sniping them from a safe distance with frenzied burst, it hasn't left my loadout even once since I got it
The best ad build up I have ever seen
One thing about the darkness spell is it allows you to backstab enemies for free because they completely lose track of you.
I love this intro, music is so soothing
So excited to see more of this game. Looking forward especially on the Orthodox Rabbi Bill Clinton DLC. Can't wait!
This was the best bit/intro/ad mix I've seen in a while

One thing i will say with bigger bubble is that because it stops and hangs in the air you can send a couple down range to stop in front of the target enemy then hit them with another bubble/lorettas and watch then turn and move into the bigger bubble.
its a fucking trap setting magic and i love it.
When i finish my incantation run (Run 2, run 1 was general mage build [Minimal melee]) i might do challenge runs of sorc, though i would probably try and put 2-3 schools together unless they are large.
HI RUSTYYY
Helloo Rusty!
Another point in favor of the frenzied flame incantations is that the eye beam has a fairly high range, especially for an incantation. You can pretty easily snipe enemies from afar with this.
Can’t wait for round 2 with the dlc spells
The editing on these videos never fails to amuse me, like the bits that are fast forwarded
That intro was so beautifully done that it almost made me do a sorcery build.
Whatever the bell bearing hunters use to bluetooth wield their weapons, i need more of that
Lightning scales with dex on weapons? Whaaat no wonder I was doing poopoo damage with my claymore faith strength build.
God I'm so fucking mad frenzy flame wasn't something that could afflict most enemies.
I would have fucking loved watching a dragon freak out and go nuts with Madness
Crucible Horns is one of my favorite incantations as a caster. It's a perfect ragdoll and getaway and it deals a lot of damage.
LOL usually skip those but i literally rewind it a couple times! hilarious!
The intro just gave me the bioshock and bioshock 2 days from my childhood I love 50s inspired intros 💜
16:54 The tail excels at pushing things off cliffs. Spamming the charged tail to push the npc adversaries makes getting the Great-Jar Arsenal a cinch.
I enjoy the obsessive amount of detail that went into just pictures when casting, as though the guy put in charge of them just went home, cracked, and started scrawling DEEPESTLORE over the walls of their house.
Crucible tail can get a lot of enemies stuck in poise break loops of basically
Charged Crucible tail>Charged R2>Poise break crit>repeat
Very useful for killing Omens or other annoying large enemies.
I’m planning a build that is an afflictionist leech (every status and magic at once) but you heal from the damage dealt
Mod magic idea: affliction blast: (not too op in raw contact damage, but it applies all statuses and magic damage types)

Frenzied flame has one of the few true sniper spells in the game.
You can be a mile away from your target and hit them with Frenzied Burst for 950 nearly undodgable damage.
