twiggy also has the perk of preventing rune piles from disappearing, so if you die and are worried about getting your runes back you get unlimited attempts
And if you combine it with skills like Sepeku you can kill yourself in a catacomb, keep your runes as you teleport to the entrance, and you can walk to the door you just opened. Without needing to walk all the way back through the catacombs after pulling the lever. Or if you went through an entire dungeon and now are facing the boss... just drink the potion and take the souls with you if you die. As a pvp efficianado, my favorite flask set-up is the leaden and crimsonwhorl tear combination. There really is no better way to let moonveil users know that you hate them by turning their transient moonlight spam into a light breeze. 10 second duration? They're already dead.
The real reason why Ruptured crystal tears are S Tier is because of their extremely unique effect. No other item in the game let's you turn yourself into a highly mobile time bomb.
I think the str boosting tear is a bit better than the dex one. Mainly because of the 1.5x multiplier you get to str when two handing. If you know you're going to be two handing your weapon the majority of the time, this tear lets you get away with only leveling up to 44 str, as with the tear it'll go to 54 which when two handing hits the 80 str soft cap. That gives you a ton of extra points you can invest in other stuff like mind or endurance, or hybridize the build with faith or int or arcane.
10:39 this paired with the cerulean hidden tear can allow you to keep casting unendurable frenzy for more than 20 seconds without having to worry about getting the maddess proc. Which can be more than enough to stun lock and bring down Malenia in her first phase.
The intelligence crystal tear sounds kinda interesting at the moment just because when trying to make my way to the perfect order ending I realized it requires using an incantation that costs 37 god damn intelligence to cast. It's not even something that you can fake use like swords where you can still physically swing it even if you don't meet the requirements, you just either have to scrape up enough INT by using tears and talismans or just be a dedicated mage
The wiki has a set of items that can be used to get +36 intelligence if you don't want to respec: Twinsage Crown Intelligence-Knot Crystal Tear Stargazer Heirloom Godrick's Great Rune Grafted Blade Greatsword skill Marika's Soreseal All of these save the Soreseal (and that can be replaced with the Scarseal since you have some starting intelligence) can be found before Leyndell, if you go looking.
@@theawickward2255 Hero and Prophet start at 7 Int, so using all but the crown is enough to cast the spell. And it's not like you have any combat between the grace and the quest objective to worry about.
Not to mention the perfect order ending is heavily associated with FAITH which means it would be more suited to Incantations users who prioritize the faith stat.
I love the twiggy tear. If you care about your runes you'll use it. You'll even use it just as you leave the grace even. Lost your runes in a boss battle? Use it before the battle and feel comfortable that you'll basically guarantee the recollection of them. Twiggy S tier, basically the homeward bone of Elden ring
Stonebarb and spiked crystal tears are what I like to use whenever I play with the meteoric ore blade. Stance broken with nearly every power attack, so unfair.
You joke about Twiggy Cracked Tear but the fact that it'll give you extra comfort and effectively protect all those million runes you lost and is now on a tight challenging spot or getting into unfortunate stupid accidents (Especially in Haligtree or Auriza Hero's Grave),All without worrying about dying makes it rather invaluable. It may be niche but its still sure as hell S rank for me purely for that fact i mentioned above.. also super fun to combine with Ruptured Crystal Tear
I got the Crimsonwhorl bubbletear yesterday and also got to the Godskin duo boss a couple of hours later. Now i thought that I was going to be stuck there for hours since I had heard about how hard it was but it surprisingly only took three tries. Flamedrake talisman +2, opaline hardtear, crimsonwhorl bubbletear and pearldrake talisman +1 literally made me heal from almost all if not all of their flame attacks. Got stuck in godskin apostles tornado and came out with more hp than before, strongly recommend 👍
Saddest part for me is that I only found 40% of every single tear in the course of beating the game (for example I never even knew the Magic shrouding tear was in the game before watching this video) but my go two physick flask all the way to the end of the game was opaline hard tear and stonebarb cracked tear. It just worked so well with my Vergil dual katana + summoned sword build because of the insane amount of staggering that gives crit dmg in bosses. It just works for me
Greenburst CT is really good, but I'd personally dock it some points because you could always use a Pickled Turtle Neck in its place and free that Tear Slot up for something that can't easily be replicated. Rowa Fruit & Herba are everywhere, & thanks to the 300 turtles that spawn in that one Dungeon in Summonwater Village, these end up being one of the easiest consumables to farm in my experience. The same kinda goes for other consumables like the Dried Liver, Cured Meats, or Invigorating Perfumes, but some of those require much more rare or finite materials so using the Tears is worth the resources saved if you ask me.
I feel like using Winged, Str, Faith, etc talismans to allow you to equip certain weapons or armor effectively is a trap. after that 3 minutes go up, you better have a bonfire next to you or weap back to something weaker, or you're srewed. That really drops their usefulness in my eyes
I see you mentioned Flame of the Redmanes for stance damage, so I would like to bring to attention the fact that it was nerfed from 40 stance damage to 10 stance damage.
I’m just getting on the ER train and just beat Goderick the Grafted on my [redacted] try and the stamina regen tear was So helpful😂 I’m hyped to see where the game goes
You do fantastic comedy jumps. I have no idea if you even do in this specific video, I binged a bunch when I was in that perfect ranking-video kind of mood, but I remember being unwarrantedly amused on multiple occasions of you jumping into or out of the shot.
The crimsonburst tear and the opaline bubble tear literally carried me through the early game. So many times when I had poison proc and just saw my health bar fighting back against the ailment instead of slowly dying. Great tear, you will never be forgotten
Crimson and Crimsonwhorl bubble tears are great for PvP. I ran into someone who used this to great affect and basically became invincible. I remember it was United Combat and we pummelled him with strong incantations and constant AoW’s when his teammate died. It felt like Krillan and Trunks vs Cell when he first transformed.
I’ve been on the receiving end of this exact situation while having those tears slotted in arena and I can say that this tear combo is a real saving grace.
I used twiggy cracked tear almost constantly in the back half of my first playthrough and ended the run at like level 210 or so, a good 40 levels above what's typical, so the benefit over time is worth it. also _great_ to switch to this after dropping a bunch of runes. as long as you can get there in under 3 minutes you have unlimited tries to reach it
"As blunt as a Baseball bat As indisputable as the FUCKING SUN" This fuckin whole bit. The delivery, the word choice and the whole damn video. Good shit man
Twiggy getting a C and not an S++ hurt a bit, but other than that this was was great. I’d never even considered the potential of the opaline tear. Also if you’re like me and play the whole game at or below 22 hp the full heal tear is pretty useless, because your still getting one-shot, but I can see it being good for most builds.
The twiggy tear, just like the sacrificial twigs, can be used to prevent the loss of runes already on the ground. It's niche but it's a nice failsafe against losing a big pile of souls stuck in a rough spot.
I'm probably one of those poor unfortunate souls that hasn't played Elden Ring yet. But I do like watching others play, including you, and it's making me want to play it. When I do eventually play it, these guides you've made are going to be very beneficial to me when building my characters. So, thank you for the time, effort and attention to detail you make into your videos. Not to mention your sense of humor is just *chef's kiss*. Keep doing what you're doing good sir.
I 1000% love your tier lists. Please make more. Literally subbed for them, yours are the best made so far, and the only complaint I have is that you don't paste the effect description text with the item you are talking about, cuz u gave literally 6 seconds of talking for some of the items.
As a side note, Cerulean Hidden Tear also REMOVES all FP costs outright while it's active. Meaning that, even if you didn't have the FP to cast it before hand, you can cast it while it's active, as if you had enough Max FP to cast it in the first place.
In my second or third character, I literally just didn't care about the physic flask at all so I just straight up had only the base crimson tear until decently late game and remembered "oh hey, I should go kill some trees for tears"
Twiggy Tear for me is an A+ for the sole reason that you gain all of its benefits without having to keep it in your physique. Accidently died in a bs location with 200,000 runes? Just swap out one tear from your flask, run to your runes, jump off the nearest cliff, and swap back. There's no harm in dying without your runes if you have the buff, since it prevents them from despawning. It's essentially an infinite use sacrificial twig that you can grab early, and never worry about losing runes ever again.
So fun fact, for the longest time, I was running Crimsonburst Tear and Opaline Bubbletear together for my Flask. Get that bonus healing, which sometimes could be life saving, while also having that damage barrier. It was a huge help for many fights. However, that strategy kinda, collapsed because of the hardest boss for me in my main playthrough (which is in NG+ now, and steadily approaching said boss again), Maliketh. Mostly because my strategy with the flask would be to have the health regening as I run away, and hopefully thr Bubble to soak a hit. But, for some reason (not sure if it’s coded or not), that one flask (Not the Crimson or Cerulean, ONLY MY WONDROUS) would immediately draw his ire, and even if he was mid-combo dealing with my Summon and I was hiding halfway across the map, he would stop, AND CHARGE ME. So the INSTANT the bubble was up, and my health regen began, I couldn’t even dodge because of those few frames at the end of the flask animation before I was on my back, lost 1/4 my health, and my bubble was already gone. And if I was REALLT unlucky, he’d then skewer me on the spot and I was dead. I swapped Crimson Burst for Crimson Bubble around attempt 25 of that fight, and while it didn’t SEEM to help much (the Opaline bubble still seemed to immediately aggravate the doggo), after a few attempts, I realized how much further I was getting into the fight. Going from maybe getting to hit him 1-5 times in his second phase, to managing 7-15. When my summon survived Phase 1 with more than 50% health, it was easily double those hits. And by attempts 45+, Inwas getting Triple (21-30 hits being on worse attempts where I got distracted, and 40-45 hits being my hetter attempts). The one attempt I won, which was somewhere in the 50s or 60s (I lost exact count cuz of attempting that fight for over 5hours) tooks around 50 hits. And that’s only because I said “Screw it” and began spamming the Spiral spell and Pebble while BARELY managing my stamina enough to dodge and RUN. Which was helped for having Opaline when I had a bad timing and needed that soaked hit, and the Crimson Bubble for when his hit got me low right at the end of a combo and into those few seconds I had to chug a Crimson Flask.
I use Opaline Bubbletear + Crimson bubbletear and then cast unendurable frenzy, usually in PVP the enemy gets maybe 1 or 2 attacks in which usually isn't enough to destroy my poise but is enough to make the enemy not being able to do anything. On PVE (or in PVP if you manage to get the enemy staggered before he gets a hit on you), you can just keep shooting this thing for a ridiculous amount of time, since the first fill of the madness meter just breaks the invulnerability allowing you to use the spell twice as long, doesn't matter how much you suck at PVP if you can get this going.
16:20 The holy negation is annoying, but, Discus of Light is genuinely such a good spell its worth it having an fp cost of 3 hitting twice and able to be chain cast
Rusty says the word "boons" in this video and I know that's a weird thing to latch onto but it made me realize how much I'd love to see him do Hades content, or Hades 2 when it releases
Honestly I didn't even realize the purifying tear existed until I was looking through the wiki a month after beating Mohg. I just assumed you were supposed to deal with taking 2 health bars of damage and the boss healing to full health.
The one thing I really don't like about the Tears is that there is no way to refresh them outside of resting at a grace site. I know it would be broken as hell if you could have multiple uses of them. I could see using a Golden Seed or Scared Nectar or both in order to refill it. If you play the game long enough those items become just a waste of space. I literally have 34 Golden seeds and at max flasks. Maybe a DLC would use them to upgrade Torrent, let you refill the Physick, or at least sell them.
I mainly dont use the stamina regen tear simply cause of the turtle talisman wich is so early in the game that the game might as well not give you a 4rth slot cause of it
No joke, twiggy tear is actually my favourite tear in the game. The intelligence crystal tear sounds kinda interesting at the moment just because when trying to make my way to the perfect order ending I realized it requires using an incantation that costs 37 god damn intelligence to cast. It's not even something that you can fake use like swords where you can still physically swing it even if you don't meet the requirements, you just either have to scrape up enough INT by using tears and talismans or just be a dedicated mage
probably best to just respec for that one moment and the spec back
The wiki has a set of items that can be used to get +36 intelligence if you don't want to respec:
Twinsage Crown
Intelligence-Knot Crystal Tear
Stargazer Heirloom
Godrick's Great Rune
Grafted Blade Greatsword skill
Marika's Soreseal
All of these save the Soreseal (and that can be replaced with the Scarseal since you have some starting intelligence) can be found before Leyndell, if you go looking.
@@theawickward2255 I could just respec, but I never did the academy of raya lucaria on this save and really don't feel like going all the way through
@@theawickward2255 Hero and Prophet start at 7 Int, so using all but the crown is enough to cast the spell.
Plus it sounds funny.Twiggy.
Stonebarb and spiked crystal tears are what I like to use whenever I play with the meteoric ore blade. Stance broken with nearly every power attack, so unfair.
You joke about Twiggy Cracked Tear
but the fact that it'll give you extra comfort and effectively protect all those million runes you lost and is now on a tight challenging spot or getting into unfortunate stupid accidents (Especially in Haligtree or Auriza Hero's Grave),All without worrying about dying makes it rather invaluable.
Thank you for the suggestion, I'm dreading that fight!
You can upgrade talismans ? How?
I just discovered your channel, and watching you slowly lose your marbles putting things in rankings and tier lists has been a joy.
I havent changed my Wondrous Physik since I realized the save runes/explode combo was hilarious and actually helpful
I feel like using Winged, Str, Faith, etc talismans to allow you to equip certain weapons or armor effectively is a trap. after that 3 minutes go up, you better have a bonfire next to you or weap back to something weaker, or you're srewed. That really drops their usefulness in my eyes
As someone that's creating a mohgwyns greatspear build, thank you for the magic shrouding tear.
That had to be the best ad transition I've ever seen. Most on other channels are fairly cringy, but that one actually made me laugh!
I see you mentioned Flame of the Redmanes for stance damage, so I would like to bring to attention the fact that it was nerfed from 40 stance damage to 10 stance damage.
another skill turned obsolete. thanks fromsoft!
@@cellophaneoxygen It's still a medium tier useful and quick skill
@@cellophaneoxygen username checks out
I’m just getting on the ER train and just beat Goderick the Grafted on my [redacted] try and the stamina regen tear was So helpful😂 I’m hyped to see where the game goes
He's never going to run out of ideas is he?
Crimson and Crimsonwhorl bubble tears are great for PvP. I ran into someone who used this to great affect and basically became invincible. I remember it was United Combat and we pummelled him with strong incantations and constant AoW’s when his teammate died. It felt like Krillan and Trunks vs Cell when he first transformed.
I’ve been on the receiving end of this exact situation while having those tears slotted in arena and I can say that this tear combo is a real saving grace.
I used twiggy cracked tear almost constantly in the back half of my first playthrough and ended the run at like level 210 or so, a good 40 levels above what's typical, so the benefit over time is worth it. also _great_ to switch to this after dropping a bunch of runes. as long as you can get there in under 3 minutes you have unlimited tries to reach it
"As blunt as a Baseball bat
As indisputable as the FUCKING SUN"
This fuckin whole bit. The delivery, the word choice and the whole damn video. Good shit man
At this point I can't wait for "Oh god, he's ranking every group of birds you can farm for feathers"
The ones on the coast of the weeping peninsula are good
My favorite tear is the exploding one combined with the faith boost.
Especially when I am invading.
VIGOR CHECK.
It's not a Niche at all, it's the best tear for levelers. >_>
Frequently, and consistently useful... So, the opposite of a Niche, lmao.
I slept on the spiked cracked tear until I started using Vyke's spear and understood its application as a stance breaker. My god, what a combo.
13:22 Bloodboon Ritual deals fire damage, not magic damage
I almost spat out my drink at 20:16, amazing edit.
Bloodboon ritual does fire damage not magic damage so the flame-shrouding cracked tear would be better
I 1000% love your tier lists. Please make more. Literally subbed for them, yours are the best made so far, and the only complaint I have is that you don't paste the effect description text with the item you are talking about, cuz u gave literally 6 seconds of talking for some of the items.
Grats on 400k, Rusty. Great list as always!
As a side note, Cerulean Hidden Tear also REMOVES all FP costs outright while it's active. Meaning that, even if you didn't have the FP to cast it before hand, you can cast it while it's active, as if you had enough Max FP to cast it in the first place.
One might call this a Tear List.

Sir, I must ask you to leave.
These videos have been a nice balance of learning about the game a decent amount within a decent time, and still be entertaining.
In my second or third character, I literally just didn't care about the physic flask at all so I just straight up had only the base crimson tear until decently late game and remembered "oh hey, I should go kill some trees for tears"
Cant wait for the dlc energy drink tier list
He's doing everything he can not to make another boss ranking video 😭
it'd be cool if the purifying tear blocked three instances of statues effects while still "procing" them
Sorry honey, cancel the wedding. Rusty uploaded
Bubble tear is my favourite. I had it equipped till the end & even in NG+
Who’s watching a month before DLC finally drops?
Twiggy Tear for me is an A+ for the sole reason that you gain all of its benefits without having to keep it in your physique. Accidently died in a bs location with 200,000 runes? Just swap out one tear from your flask, run to your runes, jump off the nearest cliff, and swap back. There's no harm in dying without your runes if you have the buff, since it prevents them from despawning. It's essentially an infinite use sacrificial twig that you can grab early, and never worry about losing runes ever again.
It's pretty stupid that this guy doesn't see the benefit.
Missed opportunity to call it a "Tear" List.
I couldn't even tell you what your channel does for me, but it does it. I keep coming back like some sort of addict.
Crimson Bubbletear is PvP: The Tear. Absolutely invaluable.
Honestly. It's great
25:51 man I loved Mohg’s second phrase
NIHIL! NIHIL! NIIIIIIHIIIIIL!
Glad to see another great upload! It genuinely makes me really happy to get the notif for a new upload
You should rank all the ruins.
And then all the shacks.
And the graveyards.
And Churches of Marika.
And beaches.
All stakes of Marika as well
Rusty says the word "boons" in this video and I know that's a weird thing to latch onto but it made me realize how much I'd love to see him do Hades content, or Hades 2 when it releases
Honestly I didn't even realize the purifying tear existed until I was looking through the wiki a month after beating Mohg. I just assumed you were supposed to deal with taking 2 health bars of damage and the boss healing to full health.
Yeah, Flame Cleanse Me works way better than speckled hard tear when you’re trying to clear scarlet rot. Might even have more applications.
I still like the polearm helicopter, in the caves video when you were flying above Liurnia with it I laughed so hard I started crying.
Int knot is "required" tier if you want to do goldmask's quest without wasting larval tears.
Maybe a DLC would use them to upgrade Torrent, let you refill the Physick, or at least sell them.
this might sound obvious but you explained the tears thoroughly without actually pointing out what some of them do😅
Twiggy is my most s-tier tear. Basically guarantees no rune loss ever when used properly.
I mainly dont use the stamina regen tear simply cause of the turtle talisman wich is so early in the game that the game might as well not give you a 4rth slot cause of it
No joke, twiggy tear is actually my favourite tear in the game. Call me a bitch if you want for taking away the core soulsborne mechanic of losing your resource on death but having that insurance when you're learning a new boss or exploring a new area is so nice.
Oh also the helicopter halberd bit is so good and I think it's really funny.
Hi! Fun fact! The crimson whorl bubbletear was used to grant players COMPLETE ELEMENTAL IMMUNITY, as in, people used it in a glitch to cause any ele damage to heal them.
3:27 hot damn them crunchy crisp sheep animations. Like a fine iceberg lettuce.
I was already zoomed in on those glitchy sheep, but I appreciate the thought
first saying Moghwyn's Sacred Spear does magic damage, and then saying the Thorny tear works on Ghiza's Wheel's weapon art. yeah- no.
Let's go, another ranking video that's gonna make me use up all my larval tears on builds for them, only too continue using the same ones in the end
I do like how the dlc did give a decent use to holy damage(i assume the ghostflame dragons are weak to holy, havent looked it up tho)
Bull goat with twin crushers is my build without winged tear… I have like 90 end
Once I had them both, I used the health Regen and opaline hard tear for pretty much the entire game. Great combo and they've kept me alive many times.
My favourite use of the ruptured tear was a creeper build that I got invaded by, it was funny as hell
dude honestly your videos are so freaking hilarious, literally every time I watch one of your videos I about have a cardiac event from laughing so hard
I can't believe you unintentionally made a Tear list for the Tears.
Having watched every elden ring video back several times, this one may just be your absolute best work. S tier, high S tier
Not beginner friendly though.
