I posit that the 1.00 version of the game wasn't the state the game was in only a month before release. Rather, the "1.00" version that was put on retail discs was just the latest fully stable version they had at the time, probably a couple months before ER had "gone gold" and retail discs started being printed. And in the months between then and release, they changed and added things, but were probably finished around a couple weeks or a month before release.
Yeah, I’ve seen some dev streams of paradox, and they always say they’re using “hot code” that is, code that is actively being modified and not a stable build.
One of my favorite memories ever so far is when I first started playing Elden at midnight. The second it came out, so I experienced an extreme amount of this stuff. And so did other people probably. That’s what make it so special because I don’t remember everything but I still slightly remember those things I don’t remember at the same time if that makes sense.
i remember when i first got the game i didn’t have wifi and my hotspot was out so i couldn’t download the day one patch. needless to say when i saw that the sword of night and flame only had a 12/12 int faith requirement i was shocked and thats when it hit me that this version was definitely primitive. i even noticed the health/mana/stamina bare looked slightly off. meteorite staff wasn’t where it was supposed to be, neither was azurs staff(i think anyway). just gives me nostalgia thinking about it after two years.
omg I'm 2 months late but thank youu!! a while ago I had my PS5 disconnected from the internet and was constantly exploring this 1.0 version for months. I was so facinated at how different it was! I had wondered what actually triggered the two fingers room in the hold because some playthroughs it wouldn't open at all and was softlocked! and if only I knew you could kill yourself in an npc invasion that it would count as an invasion, I could have gotten the shortcut to mohg! I was always annoyed at that. Amazing work!
It took a few sessions, but I finished the whole thing finally! What an incredible video. Thank you for all your work on putting together this huge project!
22:22 Very happy to see this. On release day I was going for a strength/magic build and found the Battle Hammer early and decided to stick with it until a dozen hours later, after defeating Rennala, where I eventually found a replacement. Glad and sorta sad about this, makes my first playthrough unique and special since you can't easily replicate it but I'll *probably never again be able to get the Battle Hammer early game.
I'd like to see those letter descriptions restored somehow. It's much more interesting to me than the quick notes that we ended up getting, even if those are probably more useful.
Incredible work. I've done a few 1.0 runs since that guardian swordspear comment and this will help a lot in upcoming runs. I can't wait to get my mind blown by your discoveries.
Dude so I used to spend a lot of time sitting in a dump truck, I went and got a physical copy of Elden ring to have in the truck. It was frustrating lol I remember b lining to get the claymore and the chest was completely empty I was like this ain’t going to work haha I need to update this
The game is still unfinished btw. Questlines are broken and call for nonexistent triggers (eg. Tanith) and lore and story is nonsensical with obvious holes or leftovers from earlier development. I don't know if this is Miyazaki's fetish or something, but he almost always does it. Rewrites entire game and swaps stuff around just before release.
Not on release but I think shortly after is when Engvell's Ashes dropped instead of the Battle Hammer. Reason I know this is because I made a new character wanting to grab that weapon and start using it a few days after it dropped there, and then never dropped there again!
man this video is GOLD. the very reason I pay internet and youtube GLADLY. Thanks for this absolutely GODLIKE content. it's the very thing that makes these grim times worth living, save a few others.
I must have played the game on 1.00 or something on release, because I remember seeing a few of these things before the patch that finished the quest lines was added. I did play the Network Test so I know a lot of the 1.00 stuff was present at that time, but after that I do remember my game being very different than it is now. I do remember Trina having a far more prominent role in the story in earlier versions of the game. That's why Trina stuff is everywhere and I think she had a side quest involving dreams and an entire NPC named Ricoh (spelling?) as well. Some of that stuff survived and repurposed in the DLC but not a lot.
The editing on this video is really good. Also your voice over work is super clear and flows really well through the video. It's amazing how much they did in around 2 months. It also makes the fact that the DLC work only started after release make sense... They were still incredibly busy on the base game right up until launch
I'm glad you think it flows, I scripted the intros and made sure it was clean and coherent but a good portion of the video is bullet points instead of fully scripted, so was a bit concerned it wasnt AS coherent
@BertoPlease The way you slip little jokes into your script and include nods to all kinds of things like speedrun skips or rune farming shows that youve got a super deep grasp of the many different ways people play this game or what they could gain from this video and it really shows, means that as a viewing experience you learn a lot of practical stuff if you care to, and if not get some little bits of entertainment. "Typical Co Invader" in the millicent section especially tickled me, personally. 😁
The apostrophe thing has to do with singular nouns that end in s, not necessarily proper names. It just so happens that proper names tend to be singular nouns.
There is an invisible enemy at the top of the stairs just before the boss fight in the Giant Conquering Hero's tomb. It is nonhostile, but respawns if killed. It can also be put to sleep and burned, as well as moved with Rejection.
The earliest I recorded footage was like May 2022, then I made the first video June/July, then steadily worked on it area by area from September 2022 until June 2023, then putting them together took until.. well yesterday :) worked on it on and off for 7 months haha
yeah a lot of the items have a different pop ups in this one, i think rune arcs were legendary, just found it too minor to comment on it generally since its basically just semantics
11:37 sacred seals seem to have been farmed from faction enemies in 1.0, right? Which one of these are known by now and which arent? My money would be on: Gravel Stone Seal farmed from leyndell knights Giants Seal farmed from fire monks Godslayers Seal farmed from blackflame monks Dragon Communion Seal farmed from draconic banished knights All the others dont seem like they would be farmed, are those all known/the same?
You're right with the Fire Monk Giants Seals at least, I have tried farming for Gravel and Godslayer from enemies that would make sense, but no luck. Which is the kind of thing that really sucks cause its hard to be 100% sure about, but at the same time countless people knw about Giants Seal for instance, and reported it to me, so I imagine someone wouldve had it dropped by now too
Final fantasy x-W's entire fourth chapter is a series of brutally unskippable cutscenes you can't even go to the locations of. You're stuck on a ship and have to choose to watch them one after the other, forcing you to sit there and engage on every single playthrough.
I've done a 1.0 restart a few times, it basically becomes unplayable at some point, though. I found it kind of wild that the Beastman Ashes so early, though.
Interestingly, apart from the brazilian translation, comet azur is also called "Dark Bolide" in spanish, "Bólido Oscuro". Fun fact, they changed Marika´s name to Márida, i think because "Marica" is a slur in spanish.
Funny, if they did not reverse the resistance multipliers (visually),it would be a lot easier to explain how good resistances can become in the DLC, and why they scale much better than the base game.
This is why people i wait years when the game recieves all DLCs/Ultimate editions with all the bugfixes, QoL and improvements over the day 1 experience
In jarburg if you attack the pots they won't be hostile and there is a big pot near the cliff that does not have a health bar and it is invincible to attacks
2:51:05 - There actually is at least one remaining Albinauric enemy that knows how to cast Discus of Light! It's right outside the west Consecrated Snowfield sending gate to Mohgwyn Palace. As far as I can tell, that's all that's different about it.
Gran Turismo 5 is another example of a game that was printed, and then delayed (three weeks). People even had copies of the game in their hands before the delay was announced because it had very last second.
@@BertoPleaseIt was yeah! I was really disappointed with its launch because I had waited so long between GT4 and 5, and the game was hyped up so heavily by Sony. It ended up getting a lot better after updates, and now the series is in a great spot, but its PS3 era was rough.
I'm playing patch 1.00 and I was able to kill lansseax and get the lightning glaive. My playthrough has been vastly different, instead of him disappearing and leaving I fought him while he stayed invisible.

Could you upload that 1.00 roundtable hold theme? I love remixes. There is actually an NPC which has two flasks on release: Millicent if you choose to side against her in Elphael, and that encounter even has the bugged second or two of Limgrave music. (I'll reply to this comment if I have anything interesting to say)
@@BertoPlease I caught a couple mistakes: you say that the Caelid Black Blade's Kindred has the Death's Kindred music on release when it just uses Formidable Foe I like the other gargoyles (Death's Kindred is for enemies outside of the Golden Order's conception of death, versus BBK who is a servant of Maliketh). You also say that Haligtree Loretta doesn't use the single shot bow in phase 1 when she does, which is an escalation of her Caria Manor appearance which only does the single show bow in phase 2.
This is a very impressive effort ! I can't imagine how long this must have taken, congrats ! There's a few things I'd like to point out regarding 1.0 in general. First off, that the number of days between the printing and the actual release is ultimately meaningless. 1.0 is in a very blatantly unfinished state and there is no telling what the state of development actually was in FromSoft's offices when it was printed, because it's most likely that some of the things that were being worked on by different sub-teams internally simply were not integrated for 1.0 since deemed not mandatory for a gold master of the game. This includes for example, loot placement and distribution, particularly for chests as you saw. Or also the complete localization of the finalized descriptions for example, since 1.0 is particularly noteworthy for its unfinished and inconsistent item descriptions. Map items calling Limgrave "Tenebrae" or Leyndell "Rodare", its transliterated Japanese name, are good examples that things were not simply "not done yet", but more that whole chunks had not been merged together for the printing of 1.0. The most important part for the gold master of the game is that most assets are in there so that there's as few things as possible to download in the day 1 patch. And they are, all items are in the files, even if not necessarily obtainable for example. Also the 53 days number is offset by version 1.1, the version that journalists and people who had early access played (which as far as I know is mostly the same as the public 1.2), and that version existed before the actual release evidently. Secondly, I do believe it's misguided to try to read intent behind some of the things that can be found in 1.0 (like the bugged Crystalian). Most random crafting components that you find all over the place in 1.0 are 100% placeholder, I don't think we can say things like "they were being stingy with the upgrades". There is no intent there, the reward balance and loot structure was simply not fully integrated. Blatant bugs aside, I could say similar things about music, most item descriptions, enemy placement particularly in Leyndell, ... Those things were not just changed over the last couple months of development. 1.0 was never meant to be played, which is part of why it's interesting don't get me wrong, but it's also just a mess of things that represent different points in time in development in different areas, not simply how things were 50 days before release.
Oh I'm not being series when I'm talking about intent of things in 1.00, whether they intended to change things later or thought of things later, we can't really know for sure, and yeah this isn't really the intended version of the game. I have a few friends that played earlier builds and they were told to play a very particular patch, which was 1.01 iirc. And yeah most of the game is the same but a few minor things were different, for instance ive been told Reduvia had different scaling or requirements than at launch, so likely something similar to 1.00 Anyway thanks for the insights! I asked and looked around as much as I could but it takes something like this to draw a lot of eyes to get a full picture of how things are
@@BertoPleaseIt's all cool! I figured you were just joking with some of that stuff. I just find that we often see people who have a tendency to glamorize early concepts and cut stuff in a way that undermines the final result, like I've seen people in the past who'd say stuff like "lol they rewrote the entire game two months before release", and that's just not an idea I want people to have :D
thought i could help pin a few changes since i finished the game at ver 1.0 , then 10 minutes into the video , yeah i don't remember that much detail and it was over a year ago so i can't remember . the main things i remember which will probably be mentioned in the video are these some chests either don't exist or are empty such as the one containing the claymore , the uchigatana doesn't exist only through choosing samurai as a starter class , the rivers of blood ash of war corpse piler doesn't exist and replaced by the bloody slash ash of war , the 6th flame pillar needed to fight the regal ancestor is behind the dragon kin soldier in that area , i remember this one clearly cuz it literally took me 4 hours to find since there was no one aware of it online at that time , the boss ai is hella janky , like elden beast and godfrey , where elden beast either freezes or pretty much keeps running away for even longer than usual , as for godfrey , i remember him doing the stomp aoe 5 times in a row constantly which was pretty difficult , also malenia win button , she can do the dance without a tell and in the ground , and in her second faze the close summon doesn't work , she does the attack , the clones just don't appear also the albanorics in mohgwyn approach can be farmed for the shamshir , which is missing in it's location , i had like 20 of them
@@BertoPlease indeed, i just finished the video and i gotta admit , i did not expect this much quality , you deserve a lot more than 5K subs , i hope you grow bigger
You can compare the translations aswel. The currently released Portuguese/Brazilian one has a few differences, probably based on some before release 'original' text
This feels absolutely magical to be rn. I didn’t have internet back when I bought it on disc so I played it like this. And I’ve been wanting to see for a long time but alot of wiki stuff just lacks a lot of this information.
Yeah fextra has like footnotes about 1.00 at best, like I think they mention the cut Lake of Rot enemy or something, big reason I'm documenting this. And i wasnt really showing item descriptions anyway, but I do believe someone has documented all 1.00 item descriptions somewhere? I dont know where myself but maybe a "1.00 item descriptions" could be googled on reddit or twitter
Great video! massive undertaking! Having seen this, I realized my most complete playthrough was before MOST of these changes were applied to the PC version because I was so eager to play the game that I finished it in about a week with over 100 hours of play time, and then I barely touched it again... I guess now I have an excuse to replay the entire game before the DLC.
34:46 Curse you, Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true Drake Warrior! And I, Igon! Your fear made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon … But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of harpoons! With every last drop of my being!
All of the minibosses like the rot avatar in haligtree and the gargoyle in leyndell on the wall, can additionally drop their weapons on top of the garunteed drop post release. I have had a friend get two gargoyle halberds. and I have gotten the rotten staff as a drop from the enemy itself before. Seems they have normal on kill drops enabled since 1.0 and post 1.0
This is really god damm cool, and i didnt expect that so much would be changed in a mostly single player game from launch day. My question is, should i do my first time playthrough on this version? I own a physical copy of the ps4 version to play on ps5 so i should have access to this build of the game.
My first playthrough of elden ring was ver. 1.00 mostly because i am an offline player so all the games i play are on theyre 1.00 ver but when i saw how different my ver of ER was to everyone elses i knew i had to get the updates luckily a friend of mine helped me 😅 even now im playing lies of p ver.1.00 i need the updates stat because i dont have the cat at the hotel!! 😢

Photosynthesiiiiis.... Photosynthesiiiiis
Incredible look into the end-stage development. Subbed.
🥰
holy differences and similarities batman!
man this video is GOLD. the very reason I pay internet and youtube GLADLY. Thanks for this absolutely GODLIKE content. it's the very thing that makes these grim times worth living, save a few others.
❤️
Interesting, “Sword of Moonlight” is what it was called in King’s Field.
Lots of work has been put into this, great video!
1:25:08 it's gonna DRAG-ON a lot? Dragon kin soldier-- ahhaaaaaa 🤣
37:25 Whats interesting about this change is that you can actually see it in the gameplay reveal trailer at 2:15
Yeah someone mentioned that to me, I need go look at it 👀 thanks for the timestamp
The sheer amount of effort in this video is insane 😭
THIS WAS MY WHOLE FIRST ELDEN RING PLAYTHROUGH.
Genuinely awesome video, your commentary and voice are both relaxing and entertaining. Thanks for all the work that you put into this.
One of the highest compliments I could receive 🥹 ty ❤️
Amazing work!
There is an invisible enemy at the top of the stairs just before the boss fight in the Giant Conquering Hero's tomb. It is nonhostile, but respawns if killed. It can also be put to sleep and burned, as well as moved with Rejection.
Finally someone did it!
How long did this project take you???
The earliest I recorded footage was like May 2022, then I made the first video June/July, then steadily worked on it area by area from September 2022 until June 2023, then putting them together took until.. well yesterday :) worked on it on and off for 7 months haha
47:36 it looks like the grafted blade greatsword is an epic weapon in 1.0, where in release its a legendary
yeah a lot of the items have a different pop ups in this one, i think rune arcs were legendary, just found it too minor to comment on it generally since its basically just semantics
So many placeholders wow.
11:37 sacred seals seem to have been farmed from faction enemies in 1.0, right? Which one of these are known by now and which arent? My money would be on:
Gravel Stone Seal farmed from leyndell knights
Giants Seal farmed from fire monks
Godslayers Seal farmed from blackflame monks
Dragon Communion Seal farmed from draconic banished knights
All the others dont seem like they would be farmed, are those all known/the same?
You're right with the Fire Monk Giants Seals at least, I have tried farming for Gravel and Godslayer from enemies that would make sense, but no luck. Which is the kind of thing that really sucks cause its hard to be 100% sure about, but at the same time countless people knw about Giants Seal for instance, and reported it to me, so I imagine someone wouldve had it dropped by now too
the only farmable seal in 1.00 is the giant seal i've tried for hours to get other seals but no luck is either i got their armor set or weapons .
@@BertoPlease it's also possible that all of the above were planned at that point in development but only one implemented
Castle Morne's theme was still the Stormveil one even on launch if i remember right, not sure when they changed it.
Final fantasy x-W's entire fourth chapter is a series of brutally unskippable cutscenes you can't even go to the locations of. You're stuck on a ship and have to choose to watch them one after the other, forcing you to sit there and engage on every single playthrough.
This is insane! Excellent work!
It is indeed :) I might've had a laugh when I first read the name
Funny, if they did not reverse the resistance multipliers (visually),it would be a lot easier to explain how good resistances can become in the DLC, and why they scale much better than the base game.
This is why people i wait years when the game recieves all DLCs/Ultimate editions with all the bugfixes, QoL and improvements over the day 1 experience
3:15:10 I made it into Elden Ring. The full name is Ondřej and it's a Czech name but most importantly it's my name :))
Holy moly 🤯🤯
Amazing work, thank you for your effort
In jarburg if you attack the pots they won't be hostile and there is a big pot near the cliff that does not have a health bar and it is invincible to attacks
2:51:05 - There actually is at least one remaining Albinauric enemy that knows how to cast Discus of Light! It's right outside the west Consecrated Snowfield sending gate to Mohgwyn Palace. As far as I can tell, that's all that's different about it.
Gran Turismo 5 is another example of a game that was printed, and then delayed (three weeks). People even had copies of the game in their hands before the delay was announced because it had very last second.
Oh hey bees 🤗 jesus christ that's so bad haha. I take it it was a very unfinished game?
@@BertoPleaseIt was yeah! I was really disappointed with its launch because I had waited so long between GT4 and 5, and the game was hyped up so heavily by Sony. It ended up getting a lot better after updates, and now the series is in a great spot, but its PS3 era was rough.
It's sad how common that kind of stuff seems to be these days
Hell yeah! Cant wait to watch all of this!
I'm playing patch 1.00 and I was able to kill lansseax and get the lightning glaive. My playthrough has been vastly different, instead of him disappearing and leaving I fought him while he stayed invisible.
And the wierd thing up in the sky in Caelid? Am I the only one seen it?
Flying dragon agheel stays in the lake rather than coming from the sky after the first time
Finally, I high class video on my feed
Ragged armor!!!
VaatiVidya: here is 40 minutes of repeated footage of the DLC trailer
BertoPlease: here is 3 hours 40 of real entertaining information.
You, zullie and illusory wall are all so good at making genuine souls content, thanks my dude :)
LOL thank you, I'm honored to be included with these amazing folk 🥹
Vaati was talking about the lore of the trailer, like literally every other souls youtuber. Of course he's gonna use the trailer as background footage.
I've kept the music turned off on my game for so long that I forgot and there was even music for real
The ragged armor is Igons armor in the dlc 34:48
🥳🥳🥳
Could you upload that 1.00 roundtable hold theme? I love remixes. There is actually an NPC which has two flasks on release: Millicent if you choose to side against her in Elphael, and that encounter even has the bugged second or two of Limgrave music. (I'll reply to this comment if I have anything interesting to say)
I'll look into it sometime 👌
@@BertoPlease I caught a couple mistakes: you say that the Caelid Black Blade's Kindred has the Death's Kindred music on release when it just uses Formidable Foe I like the other gargoyles (Death's Kindred is for enemies outside of the Golden Order's conception of death, versus BBK who is a servant of Maliketh). You also say that Haligtree Loretta doesn't use the single shot bow in phase 1 when she does, which is an escalation of her Caria Manor appearance which only does the single show bow in phase 2.
I thought about dumping 1.00 sounds since i have the dump but they're some weird format lmao
And yeah most of the game is the same but a few minor things were different, for instance ive been told Reduvia had different scaling or requirements than at launch, so likely something similar to 1.00
Anyway thanks for the insights!
That's odd. Bernahl invaded me in Farum Azula even though I have his armor, so i must have killed him when I first met him in the warmaster's shack.
thought i could help pin a few changes since i finished the game at ver 1.0 , then 10 minutes into the video , yeah i don't remember that much detail and it was over a year ago so i can't remember .
the main things i remember which will probably be mentioned in the video are these
some chests either don't exist or are empty such as the one containing the claymore , the uchigatana doesn't exist only through choosing samurai as a starter class , the rivers of blood ash of war corpse piler doesn't exist and replaced by the bloody slash ash of war , the 6th flame pillar needed to fight the regal ancestor is behind the dragon kin soldier in that area , i remember this one clearly cuz it literally took me 4 hours to find since there was no one aware of it online at that time , the boss ai is hella janky , like elden beast and godfrey , where elden beast either freezes or pretty much keeps running away for even longer than usual , as for godfrey , i remember him doing the stomp aoe 5 times in a row constantly which was pretty difficult , also malenia win button , she can do the dance without a tell and in the ground , and in her second faze the close summon doesn't work , she does the attack , the clones just don't appear
also the albanorics in mohgwyn approach can be farmed for the shamshir , which is missing in it's location , i had like 20 of them
Lmao yeah its okay, took me over a year to accrue this much information, and most of it had to be written down or i mightve forgotten
@@BertoPlease indeed, i just finished the video and i gotta admit , i did not expect this much quality , you deserve a lot more than 5K subs , i hope you grow bigger
Also malenia had another dance that removed
You can compare the translations aswel. The currently released Portuguese/Brazilian one has a few differences, probably based on some before release 'original' text
Yeah ive been told Comet Azur is STILL called Dark Bolide in those versions. Maybe I should have a playthrough in Spanish version 🤔
@@BertoPlease yup, can confirm!
"Bólido Escuro" in pt-br
This feels absolutely magical to be rn. I didn’t have internet back when I bought it on disc so I played it like this. And I’ve been wanting to see for a long time but alot of wiki stuff just lacks a lot of this information.
Damn. Didn’t have what I was looking for. I’m pretty sure the skeletal militia description is different and I wanted to see it again.
I admire your dedication
🫡
Great video! massive undertaking! Having seen this, I realized my most complete playthrough was before MOST of these changes were applied to the PC version because I was so eager to play the game that I finished it in about a week with over 100 hours of play time, and then I barely touched it again... I guess now I have an excuse to replay the entire game before the DLC.
I'm sure many are joining you on that, good time 🥳
34:46 Curse you, Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true Drake Warrior! And I, Igon! Your fear made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon … But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of harpoons! With every last drop of my being!
Ragged armor is Igons armor now it seems
So the devs hid a secret hard mode in the game by making Kenneth’s voice louder
All of the minibosses like the rot avatar in haligtree and the gargoyle in leyndell on the wall, can additionally drop their weapons on top of the garunteed drop post release. I have had a friend get two gargoyle halberds. and I have gotten the rotten staff as a drop from the enemy itself before. Seems they have normal on kill drops enabled since 1.0 and post 1.0
Most of those differences we fixed in the Day one patch, they intentionally shipped a beta build on discs for some weird reason
I’m playing this patch fr
Me too!
This is really god damm cool, and i didnt expect that so much would be changed in a mostly single player game from launch day.
My question is, should i do my first time playthrough on this version? I own a physical copy of the ps4 version to play on ps5 so i should have access to this build of the game.
Ehh I wouldnt recommend it, unless you want to experience the game at its hardest I suppose, just a lot of good stuff missing
@BertoPlease gotcha, thanks for the quick reply dude.
The disk version of Bloodborne has the skip from the opening of yharbam to the forbidden woods. And it has the infinite blood echo glitch.
A new version of that skip was found but its so much worse 😩 excited to look at the original one some day!
I didn't look anything up on my first playthrough so I missed Great runes entirely. That 1.0 change felt like it was for players like me xD
Lmao
My first playthrough of elden ring was ver. 1.00 mostly because i am an offline player so all the games i play are on theyre 1.00 ver but when i saw how different my ver of ER was to everyone elses i knew i had to get the updates luckily a friend of mine helped me 😅 even now im playing lies of p ver.1.00 i need the updates stat because i dont have the cat at the hotel!! 😢
Noooo not the cat D:
Thank you
37:26 reminds me of the Pursuer in Dark Souls 2
