It might've been the beginning of the 5th row after ch 2, then 1DC in each stitch - I figured it out - after ch 2, do a DC in same stitch near hook [counts as 1DC, then DC in next stitch, then DC in next stitch [total of 3DC]; then 2DC in next stitch. I realized at the end of row 5, I was short a stitch and ripped the row to fix it. She goes a bit fast and that row was tricky.
Thank you very much. I gave it to my mum as a gift and she loved it! And because of that I went shopping and got more yarn! Thank you veryyyy much. Lots of love from here❤

Great instructions! Very clear for me.However, even with the measurements, when you said this was a “ladies small,” I thought it would be too snug. I added another increase round, made sure it was still 8/8.5 inches in length, as you said, and it was comically big. Big enough to where I had to make another one. 🤦♀️ 😂 The second beanie I made was perfect, at *exactly* 8 inches in length from top to bottom. Including the very first round of 12 double crochet’s, my hat has 12 rounds of double crochet, and I finished it with one round of single crochet for preference, for 13 total rounds. I used standard worsted weight yarn and a 5.5mm hook.
I was working on experimenting as a beginner and I was trying to make a mushroom. I thought a double crochet in each stitch was wrong and so I thought increasing was a good idea 😭. I kept working on it and realized it started to look like a base of a beanie so I had no choice but to continue it 😔.
Amazing tutorial..I need some help please.I am crocheting this same beanie but for a bigger adult so it much bigger and now I am almost done but I don’t know how to make it tighter so it fits when we wears it.She has braids and that’s why I made a big beanie. Please reply so I know how to finish it .Thanks alot
Hi! How many stitches do you have around? As you continue with the rounds without increases the beanie should start to tighten up. If it's not, then you probably have too many stitches around :)
I’ve made a couple of attempts to this now, but no matter which hook size I use it ends up wavy. (5.5 - 5.0 - 4.5) do I still need to go smaller ? Or am I doing something else wrong? Your yarn is thicker than the one I’m working with.
Magic ring 12 Row 2 increase each stitch (24) Row 3 single DBC than increase with 2 DBC in same stitch (36) Row 4 single DBC, single DBC than increase with 2 DBC in same stitch( Row 5 single DBC, single DBC, single DBC, than increase 2 DBC in same stitch ( 60 ) Row 6 single DBC in each stitch no more inc. (60) Row 7 - row 15 same as row 6 (60)
Do you just cut the short string that is leftover from the magic circle? I followed your video and really like how it turned out, thanks so much for the video. I’m just confused on what to do with the string from the magic circle. I’m afraid to just cut it.
Would I be able to keep making rows and switch my color so I can fold up at the bottom of the beanie? Would I need to increase the stitch count once I get to that point to make it fit?
Just curious. Why do so many crocheters pull from the outside of the thread when the instructions say to pull from the inside. It comes out so much smoother and I never have to pull the yarn because it was made to work that way.
Interesting comment, especially since it's obvious from the video that I did do a center pull. You can see by the way the yarn is wrapped around the outside of the skein. When I did the center pull a big clump came out (which is very typical of this particular brand) so I wrapped it around the skein to keep it from tangling.
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness no the holes are between the double crochet chains and I just wanted to know if that was normal and if there is a way to fix it
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness is the problem that I am pulling to hard on the yarn? If so that is because I am using a plastic hook because I lost all of mine. I’ll redo it with a new hook and let you know if it helped
What round are you on? It won't stop being a circle until you stop adding increasing. If it's still looking like a circle after that, you can try it with a smaller hook.
When you make your first dc, you make it in the same stitch as the join. So only count the dc, not the 2 chains. When you join at the end of the round, join to the dc, not to the 2 chains.
Heyy! thanks for the tutorial! but i have one quick question. this took me a couple of times and i only got it right after asking someone for a little help (They practically did it for me) but when I finished crocheting 12 double crochets in the magic ring, I pulled on the loose string and it did not tighten. could you please tell me if you know why this may be happening? Thx 🤗
I messed up the count somewhere but it’s too late to turn back now💀
Also this was my first project so I didn’t really know what I was doing but it still turned out good😭
Yay! Glad you like it!! Just takes practice :)

Your not alone.
😂
THANK YOU !!! I'm an absolute beginner and this was really easy to follow....
The to loose and too wavy magic ring tip is so helpful 😭😭 It's been my problem with magic circles. It gets wavy! Will definitely adjust my hook size
This is wonderful. I made it with a darkish chenille and it turned out so boho! I love it so much! Thank you for making it so easy!
Thank you very much. I gave it to my mum as a gift and she loved it! And because of that I went shopping and got more yarn! Thank you veryyyy much. Lots of love from here❤
Finally, someone's video where I can actually follow and accomplish the magic circle! Thank you!
Thank you, you certainly cleared a few uncertainties for me.
Great to hear!
Thank you for this I made 2 for me and now for a friends baby .
It’s easy to follow
Awesome! Thank you so much!

i think row 4 is 48
@@jenniferchavez5619 Yes it is, 48 and he last round Is 72😅 .
I watched a lot of other tutorials and yours was the least confusing ❤️❤️💝.
Thanks!
Cute. Can't wait to crochet a basic beanie. Thank you.

Ihave saved this to a new playlist bc im going to forget the pattern this is so great and helpful thank you for making this vidieo
You are so welcome!
For me it turns out to be perfect 🤩 really nice pattern and you make it so easy 🎉 thank you so much ❤
Yay! Thank you!
Very goid video. Answered many questions when crocheting in the round. Thanks
Yay! Thank you so much!
Thank you. I made this today with your help.
Wonderful!
Yay I get to see some of the items I make with you. Thank you
Finished and loved it!! Even did a few color switches.

Thank you for the easiest tutorial🙏
amazing!! thank you :) this was my second project. enjoyed it very much.
Wonderful!
Love the video! I do have a question about the last 8 rounds when not increasing anymore. Do you still chain 2 for each round?
Yes I do!
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness thank you! Just started making my first one and it's almost finished!
Great tutorial. Thanks for all the tips 🎉🎉 Very helpful. 😊
Thank you!
Loved this tut ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have 9in not 6 but I’m using a bigger yarn. I’m going to follow the video and comment an update

What row do you make it to? Is your stitch count correct?
Magic ring 12
Row 2 increase each stitch (24)
Row 3 single DBC than increase with 2 DBC in same stitch (36)
Row 4 single DBC, single DBC than increase with 2 DBC in same stitch(
Row 5 single DBC, single DBC, single DBC, than increase 2 DBC in same stitch ( 60 )
Row 6 single DBC in each stitch no more inc. (60)
Row 7 - row 15 same as row 6 (60)
Thank you
My crochet piece became slightly dished on round 3. What has happened? Shall I continue as it is because it does flatten easily if I press it.
Hi! Your tension could be too tight. Try going up a hook size :)
When I’m joining with the slip stitch, am I joining to the chain 2 or do I skip the chain to join at the top of the double crochet?
Hi! Skip the ch 2 and join to the double crochet 👍🏻
Thank you
I measured but it still came out huge 😭 what did I do wrong?
I’m stressed about this too😅 mine seems to continue growing but I’m not increasing
Wish you had mentioned to chain 2 at 12:02!! Otherwise a great tutorial, thank you!

Hi! Don’t cut it! Pull it tight, tie it in a knot & weave in the end 😊
Why after I do the first 5 rows, it looks lake a circle not taking the shape of a beanie. What am I doing wrong to correct this. Thank you in advance.
Would I be able to keep making rows and switch my color so I can fold up at the bottom of the beanie? Would I need to increase the stitch count once I get to that point to make it fit?
Hi! No, you can just keep adding rounds. It should fold up just fine :)
It’s backwards for me. I’m right handed. The end piece is on the left side. (Right side on the video) This is why I can’t understand instructions
Hi! Hmm… I’m right handed, too, so the video shouldn’t be backwards for you?
Hi, i have made a big circle using only one increase and rest double crochets, can i use that for this?
If so, can I keep doing the same thing or should I start increasing in every stitch?
Hi! I'm not sure I understand. You only used 1 increase stitch in the entire circle?
Just curious. Why do so many crocheters pull from the outside of the thread when the instructions say to pull from the inside. It comes out so much smoother and I never have to pull the yarn because it was made to work that way.
Interesting comment, especially since it's obvious from the video that I did do a center pull. You can see by the way the yarn is wrapped around the outside of the skein. my dc rounds are so much smaller than yours, i needed an extra round to just reach 6 inches 😭
Go up a hook size or two :)
I’m so confused. And I keep getting knots in my yarn. I can’t even chain two. Then the yarn over then through the loop. Very confused.
So sorry! Maybe keep practicing rows of double crochet before trying it in the round? This is a beginner video, but not a *how to crochet* video
I am on the verge of a mental break down because mine has holes I want to know if that is ok or not
Hi! Where is there a hole? At the top?
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness no the holes are between the double crochet chains and I just wanted to know if that was normal and if there is a way to fix it
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness is the problem that I am pulling to hard on the yarn? If so that is because I am using a plastic hook because I lost all of mine. I’ll redo it with a new hook and let you know if it helped
@@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness it worked but I have a question is it ok that my magic circle is a little small?😊
Any tips on the rows getting wavy? I am keeping track of my count and have redone it a couple times
Hi! You might want to try going down a hook size :)
Can you start a hat with a 6 stitch first round? If you want to do single crochets for a hat?
Hi! Yes, you definitely can :)
Thank you
How many ply of yarn are you using?
Didn't say to chain 2 on first round without increasing...have to go back
same hook same weight yarn but mine is only 6inches if that so will do more anyway as want it bigger
Hi! You can go up to a 6.5 hook. Or you can add an additional increase round :)
Can i use yarn milk cotton 5ply?hook no ?
Why does my beanie look like a large circle always. Can't figure it out.
What round are you on? It won't stop being a circle until you stop adding increasing. If it's still looking like a circle after that, you can try it with a smaller hook.
I don’t get how the 2 chain stitches aren’t counted as a dbl crochet
When you make your first dc, you make it in the same stitch as the join. So only count the dc, not the 2 chains. When you join at the end of the round, join to the dc, not to the 2 chains.
15 rounds
You said small adult is 6/2 or 7 inches
How about a medium sized? Then a large adult how many inches?
And where would you stop for a child hat?
All the sizing is in the blog post linked :)
How much yarn did you use up in the end? In weight please
2
Slow it down a bit.
Too fast for me!
? !
technically there are 25 stitches in that second row.
No, 24 😊 the ch 2 does not count
Very confusing. Thanks for nothing. Sorry I just can't follow
