- Hi, thanks for checking out my pattern! This pattern give you the option to make 3 different styles of hats. The hats start out the same and as you reach the end of the pattern the changes are given to make each style. Below is a little more information about the hats, happy crocheting!
The lengths of each style are as follows:
Basic Beanie - 8.25"
Folded Edge (measured with edge not folded): 10.5"
Slouchy: 13"
You can find the written pattern here: byjennidesigns.blogspot.com/20... - Навчання та стиль
What a blessing to have people like her taking the time to share this design with us...and the printed instructions was a bonus as I like to crochet when I'm watching TV. I crocheted the Basic Beanie because my son won't wear anything else...I also make extras for the mens shelter. Many blessings and thank you from the heart! 💓
Mari, thank you so much for such a sweet comment. I appreciate you taking the time to drop me a line. Thank you for giving back and donating to the shelter, you have a beautiful heart. ❤️
OMG, why wouldn’t everyone make magic circles like this?! Lady! I am shook. You have revolutionized my world.
Aw, thank you. 🥰
So clean! Wow. I'm going to try this soon as I can.
You didn’t mention that at the end you seem to be crocheting on the inside rather than the outside.
best looking crochet beanie on youtube by far! and trust me i watched a lot of them haha. and with 3 options plus a very clear written out instruction, thank you so much! ill be using your pattern every time i want to make one!

I was able to complete my first crochet project watching this video, thank you very much 💌
I'm so happy to hear that! You're very welcome. 😊
Ooh love this. I make beanies for the homeless so this will be my choice this year. So quick and easy to make. It's autumn here in Oz so they will be needed soon. Subscribed.
Hi Catherine! That's amazing and I'm happy to hear you'll be giving my pattern a try! Thanks for all you do, happy crocheting!
@@ByJenniDesigns Made my first one last night. Turned out great.
Awesome!
After 3 tries with 3 different tutorials, I was FINALLY able to make a slouchy hat that wasn’t too big or bulky on the top. THANK YOU!
You're very welcome, Doris! 😊
This is the best tutorial I have ever watched. I have watched so many videos I got discouraged with wanting to make one. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am definitely a huge fan now!!
Hi Chloe! I'm so glad my tutorial was able to help you, thank you for the very nice comment! 😊
Just followed along and made my first hat!! Thank you for being so detailed and helpful! The stitch counts at each row surely helped!!! It turned out nicely!! ❤I’m encouraged and inspired!
I love to hear this! Thank you for taking the time to drop me a few lines! 😊
You are a blessing to all. You are blessed to bless others. Was about to give up on the video but voila thank you for the clear written instructions. I am soo happy
Thank you again
Thank you so much for this pattern! I was at a loss what to get my husband for his birthday when i stumbled upon this. Hed been asking me for a beanie. This pattern fit perfectly on his giant head. I made the folded over one. I used size 3 and size 2 yarns (wool and acrylic) until row 25 and then size 3 super fluffy yarn for the rim.
My first beanie…. It’s awesome thanks to your well explained, clearly stated stitches…. I love that you say how many stitches we should end up at every row. I have a hard time starting my first stitch after the single crochet, but I’m glad you showed it, and ending is also a challenge for me… thank you for showing it clearl6 and slowly. Excellent tutorial! Thank you so much! 😊
You're welcome Lynda! 😊 Thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment, I'm so glad it worked out for you!
Ive searched for a basic pattern and this is great! Thank you
Thank you so much for the easy-to-follow tutorial and written pattern. I just made one for my son and he loves it. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity.
Love this pattern! Made the slouchy for my fiance and plan on making the other two variations for my family for Christmas.
Thanks Tabby Barwick, I'm so happy to hear that!
Just finished my first beanie for my husband :) Thank you so so much for the tutorial on the magic ring! I watched so many videos trying to get it down pat and learned from you in one take! Your instructions and how many stitches we should have helped a lot! I will be coming back to your video to make more in the future :)
Hi Erika! You're welcome, I'm so glad I could help. 😁
This was the best tutorial for beanies...I watched dozens and tried several (even tried knitting one!) before I found this video...awesome and easy.
Thank you so much Terri, you've made my day. 🙃
I have a tip to fit your head size. Example : your head size 20 inches divided by 4 you got 5 inches then plus 1 total 6 inches. Do your increase row until you got 6 inches width. Then stop increase and continue row 12 until desire length. In malaysia we call this kopiah also 😊
Just made it this Christmas afternoon for my hubby while chillin on the couch! Perfect fit too! Thanks Merry Christmas!
Thanks so much! Been looking for just this pattern through SO many tutorials. Bless you.
First hat I've been able to master. Thank you so much! ☺️
I absolutely love that you added the stitch counts! Thank you so so so much!
You're very welcome, Briana. 🙂
I think this just might be my favorite hat pattern of all!
Your directions are the best! This will be my first beanie. I have always had trouble with round crochet. Love this tutorial! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Randa! I'm so glad I could be of help! Thank you for taking the time to leave me such a nice comment, Happy Crocheting!
Everybody loved it, I modefied it to make it move snuggling, I didn't increase the double in one spot and then 4 single, I did just 2 increases in that row apart from each other and after that no increases at all and the fit is super comfy, I loved it! Thank you so much!!! Oh and I used 4mm hook and loooove it you don't know how. Tks again!
Thank you so much. I’m using this pattern in wool for some African men and boys who have moved to our area. I like the more dense hdc and sc stitches. Though I’ve been crocheting for decades, I printed the pattern for keeping myself on track as I make 6 or 8 while watching tv. I really like your option of video AND printed option. Thank you again from Canada. 🙏
That is so great! You are very welcome and thank you as well. Happy crocheting! 😊
Just made the basic beanie for my brother and he loves it! Thank you so much for being so beginner friendly! 💛 I appreciate you!

Thank you a million times for such an easy and beautiful pattern. I'm going to to the "Folded edge" next. Happy crocheting and keep up the great tutorials😊

Great instructions! I just finished a folded edge hat in Big Twist Twinkle, navy blue and it looks beautiful. Thank you!
Oooooo, I will have to check out that yarn! You're welcome and thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment. 😊
I'm working this up in a thicker 6 yarn. Love it so far. Not doing as many increases. This is such a wonderful tutorial. The stitch counts are great
What did u do instead
Yikes. I barely remember lol. I remember I got to the first measurement size and then I think I stopped increasing from there and then just carried on with the rounds for the hat. I gave the hat away as soon as it was done
This is helpful thank you! I accidentally started with a thicker yarn!@@melidolldamn
Your voice is like butter. So relaxing.
Great tutorial. 👍🏻

Phale bar etni achi cap bani hai nai to gol akar nai a pata th thanks very very
Thank you for your tutorial.
Love your Bennie patterns. Please help with how to increase the size of hat
Hi Kandy! To do this you ould need to add a few increases. To size it up an inch I suggest adding 4 increases. 🙂
I’m done thank you for your auditoria❤
I love this pattern. How do you make a slouchy beanie for a slightly wider head?
thank you so much for this video
This video is so great, thank you🥰 but I have a question, when you do the slipstitch in the very first hdc, did you also do the first hdc from the next row in that very first hdc where the slipstitch is done?
Hi Kate, thanks for the question. Yes, after you ss to join you will then ch 1 and hdc into that very same stitch. I hope this helps!
Thank you for sharing love a 3
Hello it's beautiful 😍I just want to know you make 2 hdc in 2nd row in each stitch
Hi Savita, yes, you work 2 hdc into each stitch all the way around. This will double the stitch count at the end.
Hi!
I'm a crochet beginner but I'd like to make a few of these as gifts this year. To make it larger you say to add a few increases, can you explain what increases are? Is that adding more 2 half double crochets? Like instead of doing 1, then 6 singles, maybe 2 then 6 singles?
Thank you!!
Yes, exactly. An increase is when you work more than one stitch in the same place. 😁
Hi Jenni! I love this tutorial thank you for being so clear with your instructions! I am working up a beanie with three different colors of yarn, how would you recommend to best gauge even color block for creating the beanie with folded brim?
Hi Olivia! I actually used this pattern recently to make a 3 color block hat. I did as follows; Color 1: Rows 1-9, Color 2: Rows 10-18, Color 3: Row 19-end. 🙂
Thank you so much!!
If my head has a bigger circumference, and want two additional rows (with r13 being the last increase row, and r14 being the repeating) what changes should I do to r11-r14? Thank you so much.
The way you explained the pattern was so simple to work up this hat! Love your magic circle technique as well! Question…I made the folded beanie and when I tried it on it was way too big so I took out some rows..when I got it to where it fit my head I noticed the row with the 9 stitch 6 stitch was noticeable in the front of the hat in my fold. Is there a remedy for that? Thanks
This is a nice and easy pattern. How can I adjust the size to fit my kiddo’s head?
Hi Erica, you would need to make less increases and less rows to make it smaller. As a guide, about 4 stitches (with gauge) = 1". Good luck & happy crocheting!
Wow! Fabulous tutorial! The only issue I had was my own fault. I used a 5.5 size crochet needle instead of the size 5 that you suggested. Therefore, the beanie came out larger than it should have. Otherwise, it looks great and has given me confidence for future projects! Thanks so much. ❤🧶❤
Meant to say crochet hook… not needle! 🤦🏻♀️
@terrywigginton3286 I didn't even notice until you said it. 😂
Thanks for this easy recipe! Do you have the same recipe but smaller, for womens head?
I am sorry, I do not yet. You can do a few less increases and rows to make it a womens size though. As a guide, 4 hdc = approx 1". Depending on how much smaller you need it you can just work 4-6 less increases in row 12 and then shorten it by maybe 3 rows. I hope this helps, happy crocheting!
I’m using a thicker yarn and not sure when to stop increasing. How many inches across was your circle when you got to row 12?
Hii, I tried ur to do it and I'm almost done but the beanie so far looks big? Kind of as if it doesn't any structure if that makes sense. Instead looks more round like a helmet. Idk why.
Also do you think I should go down a size with the hook cuz at row like 9 it measured like twice urs so yea 🥳
Hi Bread Eater, I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, I would suggest trying to go down a hook size.
Thank you son loves it!
This tutorial is amazing!! Which row would you recommend changing colors in if you wanted the folded edge to be a different color than the crown?
Hi Monica, thank you! That's a great question! It sort of depends on your preference but I would say maybe to change the color for the last 7 or 8 rows so you would want to switch at row 26 or 27. 🙂
I had that same question! Thanks for asking it
If I want the stiches to loook smaller in the final product, but keep it the same size (large for a mans head) can I use a smaller hook like 3.75mm but just make more rounds until it's big enough?
Hi Lillian! Yes, you would and you would also need to make more increases. I have not used a hook that small for this pattern so I am sorry I don't have much more direction on this.
Hey, I'm a total beginner and just curious, what's the purpose of row 11? It's so different from the others that it made me wonder
Hi Errice! I just needed a certain number of increases and the math didn't work out evenly. 🤷♀️
This is so easy to follow, thank you! My husband has a big head - could you tell me how to make this a little bigger around? I’m assuming I just do another one or two increases (like, get to 88 stitches, maybe) but then I’m unsure how to do the row after I stop increasing. Your next row was 9 hdc then 2, 6 and 2, etc but if I add stitches I don’t think that will work. (I’m new at this, sorry!)
Hi! Yes, you have the right idea. For 1" larger add 4 hdc increases, 8 for 2". You can just do these in row 11. Just spread them out throughout the row. :)
Love the yarn squeak.
😂 lol
Love this pattern. Was wondering how I could make a kids size
Hi Shaelyne, I'm so glad you like the pattern. To make this for a child you would need to make less increases and rows. I do not know exactly how many but as a guide 1" = 4 hdc. Good luck & happy crocheting!
شكرا جزيلا لك , الشرح كان مفصل والغرزة بسيطة وجميلة , الآن أتابع الفيديو وانا أعمل عليها .
Hello do i have to chain 1 after each row after the 12th one?
@@nadamoumene3916 كملت الأسطر من بعد 12 بدون الارتفاع .
wonderful tutorial! i just have a question im tryin to make a brim beanie with a similar color but with a white brim instead of the one color, any reccomendations on how to do this?
Hi & thank you! To do that, I suggest fastening off after row 25 and joining your white for row 26-end. 🙂
Thankyou so much!!@@ByJenniDesigns
Does the beanie regain form after taken off or does it stretch out and stay loose?
faser o passo a passo contando os pontos obrigado
Are you slip stitching into the first half double crochet?
Yes, that's exactly right.
Can I use 5.5 mm hook instead of 5 mm? and is your yarn 5 ply? Thankyou for this lovely tuto!
Hi Surin, your hat may end up too large if you use a bigger size hook. The yarn is a medium, 4 weight.
