Love your videos! You have a new fan from Houston!
Thanks!
I love how u do ur cups, could u do one from the very start to the very end? Like how u coat the cup first and of course I have seen how u put the mod podge on and the glitter and then show how u seal the cup please
In progress! Stay tuned!
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us! Your tumblers are gorgeous. I am definitely going to try your technique for my ombre. If you have a list going for other ideas, I would love to hear how you do the vertical ombre and your wine glasses. Thank you again!!
I will add those to my list of tutorials. I am a little behind because I have been trying to suck up the last bit of summer! :)
I'm loving it!!! You just got a new subscriber
Thank you!
Oh why did I not know you could do this with metal tumblers! 😳 I would also like to see a video on how you put epoxy on. Thanks for sharing 🌸🐨🌸
Ha. It is a super fun/messy/sometimes pricey hobby. I will share the epoxy video soon.
Keep uploading videos i love them
I love your work
Thank you very much! More are coming.
Great tutorial!! 👍
Thank you!
Love your videos!!
Thank you!
Excellent!
Thanks!
I love your cups!!! Can you do a video on all the products you use like which epoxy you use? Please and thank you! 💕💕
I love your cups. Hopefully you post more
Thank you! Yes, more are coming. Life is crazy right now.
I can't wait🤗👌
Reminds me of candy corn!
It looks amazing I love it. I was so excited to get the notification for this video, I've been eagerly waiting since watching your video for the two color ombre so a big thankyou for this video and sharing your knowledge. I'd love to see a video on what epoxy you use and how you apply it. Thanks again
Sorry for the delay! I am so glad to hear that you liked it though! I have been asked quite a few times on applying epoxy. It is on my list to record a tutorial in the future.
Would love to see your epoxy method as well. I am getting ready to try glittering tumblers. Have watched other videos, but like the way you break it down and show each step.
Thank you! It is a very fun, addictive, and sometimes expensive hobby. I started out making jewelry and somehow merged into cups! Good luck.
Yay I can't wait to see it. I love your method of teaching and techniques that you use and have learnt a lot. I've been doing wine glasses as I'm yet to do a tumbler but after switching up my technique a bit and doing what I've learnt from you my ombre glasses are looking amazing so a big thank you
That's so awesome! Good luck.
Thank you for this. Love your technique 💜
Thank you!
Love these! I'd like to see how you do epoxy and the decals.
Thank you!
I would love to see one where you apply the epoxy and vinyl. Thank you so very much for sharing and teaching!!!
I have that video in progress! Stay tuned!
Violet Doodles Boutique fantastic! I was gonna ask the same thing. I’d like to see a video sped up from very beginning to the very absolute end. Thank you 😊
I have a start to finish video in the works but it will be a regular speed first. I could also post one sped up for those that don't need the chit chat. Thanks for the idea.
these are cute
Thanks!
And your kids was correct. Your presentation was awesome but little wisdom from the kids are just as amazing.
Thanks!
I would like to see the epoxy process, too. Thanks.
So cute for halloween! When you apply the epoxy do you leave the tape on the stainless rims? Oe do you take tape off and epoxy all of it? Thank you!
Here is how I do the epoxy. ua-cam.com/video/HDJhMsWh3zg/v-deo.html
I really enjoy your videos, will definitely watch when you release more. You explain things so well. My question is: do you only use the sealer on the 3 color tumblers? Not your 1 or 2 color ones?
Yes, usually. If it is a solid glitter or just two color ombre, I don't care if the glitter moves a little. If I am working with more colors, stripes, a design, two sided, etc., I will seal it.
Could you please do a tutorial on how you monogram the cups?! The process and what you use? ! You are amazing best I’ve seen!
The decals are made from vinyl. You will need to design one on your computer and cut with a vinyl cutter. I use a Silhouette Cameo. OR you can cut the vinyl by hand if you are that skilled (I am not). :)
Would love to see a chucky glitter on the bottom ombre. I struggle with getting the chunky down flat without a lot of coats of epoxy. Love this one!
Chunky is tricky. I apply it with epoxy and check it about 30 mins later. At that point, I push any that aren't flat down with my finger. Chunky and MP are not compatible.
Beautiful! Curious why on the three color (versus 2-color) you don't do the combined colors where the colors meet? Is it because they combined pretty well already?
The more colors you have the less space you have to work with. I only combine my colors on the two color. You certainly could mix the colors together; I would suggest doing it ahead of time so your adhesive doesn't dry up on you.
I’d love to see you finish one with the epoxy. And, how and when you would add the vinyl. Love your ombré
I will do an epoxy tutorial in the future. As far as the vinyl application, after you have a sooth coat of epoxy, you can apply it and do a final coat. Thanks for watching.
^smooth coat :)
How cool! This is so cool!! Great job. After a couple of coats, do you just stick with the modpodge or do you do the epoxy. I’m someone on a budget and I can’t afford the epoxy. I was just wondering if you could do these with just modpodge?
I always coat with epoxy. I have done the dishwasher safe Mod Podge on plastic cups and it holds really well, but it takes 28 days to cure. I have never tried it on stainless ones. This is a very expensive hobby.
Violet Doodles Boutique ok. Thank you for letting me know. You do, do some beautiful cups. Thanks again
You're welcome!
I love the cup! I do have a question, how hard is this craft for a beginner? do you have any tips? I was thinking about doing something like this to wine glasses, like the stem and then fade onto the glass itself, but I'm not 100% sure what kind of epoxy would work. again, great video thank you!
Like any new hobby, it takes practice. Play with it, make mistakes, and try new things. I have always been a crafter, always! This was a fairly easy thing for me to pick up but I did research for almost a year and learn as much as I could about products and techniques before I started. Good luck!
AWESOME WORK! Like and subscribe worked for me :)
Thank you! :)
Hi I love your videos but would love to see a start to finish of how you prepare your cups as in prepping them to epoxy
Coming
You work pretty quickly, but Mod Podge dries quickly as well. How thick do you put it on so that it doesn't dry before you're done applying the glitter? Thanks!
I do work fast and sometimes it does dry on me. When it dries, I just do a quick touch up. It is not a thick coat of MP. The more you work with it the faster you get. There are other adhesives that some like but I like MP.
I love your ombré technique! I have a question, why do you spray paint the tumbler rather than just buying a white one?
I buy all of my tumblers bare so I have full control. I don't always use white, sometimes I will match the base color to the glitter. If you do buy the coated ones, you will still need to sand and prep them well.
@@VioletDoodlesBoutique So when you spray paint, so you still sand and prep?
If its a bare stainless cup, I do this ua-cam.com/video/LAjpoMDMIUA/v-deo.html.
If it is already coated, I would just sand it to rough it up and wash it well.
So do you use that spray to seal cups with decals too? I’ve never seen anyone not use the epoxy you have to mix so I’m excited about that spray lol
These will be coated with epoxy. This tutorial was only for the glitter technique. The spray sealer was just to hold the glitter in place while being epoxied. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
Violet Doodles Boutique gotcha. Thanks!
Hello love these. I would like to make my own for family members. Can u PLEASE tell me Where is the least expensive place to get the cups and glitter and glue and vinyl wholesale? THANK U IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!!❤️🦋
Check the descriptions of my videos. I try to list the supplies I use and each video has a few different things. This can be an expensive hobby and there is no one place I shop.
Love that orange. What colors did you mix to get that bright orange.
It was Pumpkin and Neon from Recollections, but I am not sure of the ratios.
Violet Doodles Boutique love your cups
Thank you very much!
Great video do you put epoxy over
Yes and here's how: ua-cam.com/video/HDJhMsWh3zg/v-deo.html
Do you ever apply fine glitter like this with epoxy? Do you prefer the MP method over epoxy? I've seen so many people say they love epoxy method better, but I haven't tried either yet.
It depends on what I am doing. For ombre, I like my tried and true MP. I only have room for 5 to turn at a time for now, so I like to keep those available for things that have to have epoxy. I am typically decorating way more than can turn at a time. If I can use MP, I do. Swirls and geodes, I do apply with epoxy. Each style has its own technique and there really are several ways to do each. Try a few different ways and you'll find the ones you like. Good luck.
With the sealer spray, does it dull the sparkle of the glitter? I found the rustoleum glitter sealer to dull my glitter and i HATE that.
It does a little but the sparkle comes back after the epoxy is applied.
I know it’s been a while since you posted the video, but would you happen to remember the name/brand of the solid blue tumbler at the beginning of the video (0:22)? I’ve been looking for that same shade of blue. Thank you!
And thank you for the ombré technique tutorials. I love your instructional style-it’s clear and easy to follow.
You are so welcome! That blue is Marine from Recollections. You can get it at Michaels.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
You're welcome!
Hello, Cute cup. What did you add to the tumbler before you started? In the beginning it was silver and then it had white on it before you added stuff. It is at the 52 second mark? Thank You.
Thanks for watching! At second 18, I explained that it was spray paint. :) I just use flat white on this one.
@@VioletDoodlesBoutique thank you so much.
You're welcome!
could you do a video on that leopard print cup its beautiful
ua-cam.com/video/W3HgaJwMEuc/v-deo.html
Here it is.
Can you do a video on how you spray them with the acrylic spray and then with the epoxy? I’d love to see that!
Coming
How long do you let it dry before adding another layer of glitter
30 mins to overnight
I'm wondering why u use mod podge with some glitter cups and epoxy with others?
It depends on what I am working on. Fine glitter in a solid color, ombe, or detailed design- ModPodge. If I am doing a swirl, chunky glitter- epoxy.
I’m practicing the ombré technique and my transition from color to the next have a harsh line any tips for a beginner
Tilt your cup more and sprinkle from higher in the air. Embrace the impending mess!
Can you show what you put the cups on? Looks like you made something yourself that rotates
This shows the turner a little more. ua-cam.com/video/HDJhMsWh3zg/v-deo.html My husband made it for me. You can find similar ones on etsy.
Where do you get your cups at? I google hogg cups and they are $17 each... How much do you sell these for if the cup itself are $17 and there is so much work that goes into it plus the glitter and epoxy are expensive as well. Also where did you get your 3 cup turner? Thank you :)
You found the retail price. I buy mine wholesale from the Stainless Depot Co and the Steel Magnolia Co. My prices vary depending on the cost of materials and the time involved. You are right though, this is an expensive hobby and definitely a novelty/luxury item. I have 2 5-cup turners that my husband built and some singles I bought.
Have you ever made a polka dot glitter tumbler? I have been looking for a how to video and can’t find one. If you have can you give me some advice on how to
I have done a few. I can add it to my future tutorials. I used vinyl circles to mask off the spots, did the background, carefully peeled the circles and filled each one in. There are a few other ways to do it too. You can use a circle sponge brush instead of vinyl.
Violet Doodles Boutique thank you, I look forward to that. 😊
Hi! I have a question. Do you have to use epoxy? Or is mod poge okay? I’m trying to make myself a glitter tumbler for the first time and I’m a little scared to use the epoxy.
Epoxy will make it last longer and gives it a smooth finish. Mod Podge will stay rough and will dull the sparkle. It will likely not last more than a few times though and will need several coats. Epoxy can be tricky but after using it, you will get the hang of it. Be sure to read the warning on the package. Lots of people have allergic reactions to it.
Violet Doodles Boutique okay thank you
Make more videos they are so amazing
Soon! I have a craft show coming up and it is sucking all of my time.
Instead of gloss coating ..can we use epoxy as a substitute..??
YES!! These do get epoxy after being sealed. This was not a complete start to finish tutorial, only a tutorial on the glitter technique. Spraying the sealer on will not keep the glitter in place permanently.
@@VioletDoodlesBoutique thankuuu soo much..😊😊
U should do a cup w/your scrap glitter. If your glitter is a grey purple that would be a pretty cup.
I do use my mixes occasionally.
Great video!! Can you make one where you are applying the epoxy?
It is in the works. Thanks for watching.
Yes please. One on the epoxy 🌸
I would love to see a tutorial on how you would do the Ombre look but with a vertical line vs horizontal :)
I think I recorded that video. I will check and post it soon. If not, I will record another one.
@@VioletDoodlesBoutique Really? You're awesome! Can't wait to see it!! :D
Nice video! Do you sell you're stuff you make?
Thanks! You can order through my FB or IG pages. All the same name- Violet Doodles Boutique. Pricing depends of the size and style. If you are interested, send me a PM through FB or IG. If you don't use those, you can email me through my website www.violetdoodlesboutique.com.
Do you put your decals under your epoxy?
Yes. After I have a smooth coat of epoxy, I will add the decal. I will post a short follow up of this one soon.
Why do you remove the tape before you add the second coat of glitter and epoxy?
I remove the tape while the MP is still wet because if it dries with the tape, it will peel off the glitter I want on the cup. I retape for epoxy and peel it again after it has had about half an hour to set up.
Does it matter what kind of glitter you use?
Different glitters give different effects and some lay better than others. Nicer quality glitters have a brighter sparkle.
Can you please do a video on you putting on the epoxy on the tumbler. I love your work.
It is on my channel. ua-cam.com/video/HDJhMsWh3zg/v-deo.html
Show us how to seal and epoxy! :):)
Does the glitter have to be from yayas or does walmart glitter work as well
The glitter can be from anywhere. I use Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Joann, and several online shops. Higher quality glitter has a prettier sparkle and lays nicer but you can use any. Honestly, if you are just trying this out, I would start with Walmart or some from the craft stores. Fine and Extra fine are also easier than the chunkier ones.
@@VioletDoodlesBoutique oh I see yeah just want to make 1 cul lol being a stay at home mom gets kind of boring sometimes.
Yes it does! I am right there with you. Remember these need to be sealed with epoxy for the glitter to last.
I would live to see a tutorial of that cheetah one in the background!
I have it recorded! I will work on posting some new videos soon.
ua-cam.com/video/W3HgaJwMEuc/v-deo.html
Could you do a 4 color beach tumbler?
It would be the same process.
How mocha do you normally charge for this
It really depends on the cup size and design. I start my 3 color ombres, like this, at $40. If you are interested in ordering, you can visit my FB page @VioletDoodles.
Ok
Can you show me how to make your tumbler rotating machine PLEASE.
Sorry, I don't have those skills. My husband made mine and has told me he has no interest in doing a video. There are other people that have tutorials for the turners and many are available to purchase finished on Etsy.
Can you do a tutorial on glittering a flask in three colors.
It would be these same steps.
Can you to a tutorial on a rainbow lepard tumbler?
OOOH! I will add it to my list!
can i wash my cup in the sink without it coming off ??
Not until it is coated in epoxy. This tutorial was only for the ombre technique. There are a few steps after the decorating part. I am working on a full start to finish video that will be posted soon.
Leopard print tumbler video pls
Yes! I just got a new style cup that I want to do a rainbow leopard print on!
I would LOVE to see how you do the leopard ones
I'd like to see you epoxy.... mostly because you really explain things well, and I know it's an involved process, that I'll probably never do, I'd like to see it and understand it. I think you would be the best for showing me that - cause your hombre that you did before - was freaking awesome, you explained so well, as you did in this, how to blend and not get a line. I still think you make it look easier than it is. So, I'll just armchair play along for now. (I notice kid school papers... do you homeschool? or teach at a school?)
Thank you! I did teach for a while. I taught Special Ed, that is probably why I break my steps down so far. I am so used to going all the way down to the most basic steps. The school papers are from my kids' backpacks... Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, right?
Can I order from you?
You can! Send me a message angie@violetdoodlesboutique.com and we can work out the details.
Could you show your finishing steps?
I have some videos of start to finish that need to be uploaded. It will be a 5 part series.
@@VioletDoodlesBoutique awesome! Cant wait to watch!
Due to my name on it- Can you show the animal print one ? And btw. great job!
Thank you! Are you wanting a tutorial on the leopard print? That one in the background was my first ever glitter tumbler. It has lots of flaws but I still love it. I have had a request for a leopard one and its on my list to do.
I've just seen the print and my name and glitter.. what else can i say, i'm a glitter junkie ;) PS> If anyone, ever say anything abouth the flaws on any of your cups- remind them, this is handmade not some machine made crap with no soul to it
Thanks! They have come a long way for sure! That's one of the reasons I love these so much. Each one has its own personality! Thanks for watching!!
This is Halloween Halloween Halloween 🎃🎃
Yes! :)
I did think to like and subscribe till you said your kids said to tell us! Haha
I am an "accidental UA-camr" HA!
