Best video on applying fabric to tumblers! I have some camo fabric that I can't wait to try this with. Wish me luck. Thank you for this great tutorial!
I just love to watch your video. You explain things so easy and you go over all the very important things that is so much needed . Thank you for all your videos. Your work is AMAZING. I have also directed people your way. I told them to watch your videos that your work is on point and you explain what your doing to a T. I will be sending more people your way and keep doing all these amazing videos and keep crafting. Wonderful Work..
Shonda Johnson thank you so very much! That means a lot. I try my best to make I go over what I think people may have a question about. You are too sweet and thank you for sending people over to watch my videos.
That is so cool. Very nice cup. Just bought mermaid scale material. So excited to start , now that l found your channel..Tyfs. Hugs❤️just hit the like. Said it was counted. But l dont see a different number. Didnt go up. Hmmm utube .🌹
Thank you so much, my husband passed away 2 years ago and I have pieces of his shirts and I’m going to try and make some cups for my grandchildren with them! Also have you ever tried to have two pieces of pool noodles to get her with rubber bands and lay your cup on the noodles while you are doing this especially the cutting part. Thanks again, Judy
Adrienne Becnel thank you so much for watching, I hope this video helped you more!! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me. Have a great day!
Melissa Rodd well thank you. I started out doing wooden signs, then some tumblers. My signs took over and I stay busy with those. Here is a link to my shop. I do make tumbler care cards. Hope you have a nice day! etsy.me/2KnuJCA
I have a request and you might think it’s stupid. But can you do a video on how to apply the epoxy? Your video on how to get the fabric on the tumbler is the best I have found!
Jessica Ward OMG yes the video is on point I watched a few times and then attempted my first cup at 1 in the morning and it has turned out almost perfect for my first time!!!
Not seeing an epoxy video on your feed...am I missing it or were you never able to do one? This video was great and I'd love to see your version of the epoxy process!
I thought start to finish included adding the epoxy. I'm late to learning the technique and thought the epoxy application would be part of the video. Aside from that, I agree with the way you created the seam line in the fabric.
Kathleen S epoxy is a pretty easy step, you mix to parts together and spread on the cup. there are many videos on how to do so. This is a start to finish on how to do the fabric. Thank you for watching 😊
Love the video and can't wait to try this technique!!!! I have been doing vinyl and embroidery for a few years now so I am super excited to start making and designing cups!! What do you normally charge for a cup like this one? Thanks again for taking the time to show us your technique!!!
Melissa Miles I would look around and see what the average cost people are selling theirs at and start from there. It also depends on the cost of your materials you use.
Tara Seals yes it sure can!! I have the cheap kids brushes to paint my epoxy on. Pretty sure you can find them at the dollar store. Also make sure you have a jar of acetone to put the brushes in after you are done. When you want to use again just rinse with soap and water and use! I also rinse outside and not in any sinks. I don’t want epoxy to go down the drain and seal the pipes 😊
T Williams that sounds like you didn’t smooth out your glue well enough. I’m not sure if it would disappear when the epoxy is put on the cup. Sorry. I hope it does though.
Great tutorial, I am wondering what style cup would be easiest, a straight or skinny style? A tapered or one with a hump seems like it would be hard to get the fabric even or to wrap good. TYIA😊
Leticia Vasquez not for sure what threads are in the fabric. I just picked up some squares at Walmart. I’m sure it’s cotton. It does have some stretch in it.
Thank you so so so much for teaching me! I just made my first cup. However my lid won’t go all the way down and I haven’t even epoxied yet. I cut off all the fabric very well around the edge. What am I missing or doing wrong
Marsha Pope Marsha, I have not tried that method. So I don’t want to tell you that it works when it might not. I have always used mod podge, it sticks well and makes it easier to move the fabric around if you need to. If you do give it a try let me know how it works.
Hi! My fabric is on my cup, and it has a single layer of mod podge over it so far. My worry is that it looks wet... its a white fabric with images on it and i didnt know if this would go away the more coats I do? PLEASE help
Hi! Thank you for the video..im so ready to make these....but i have a couple questions one of them is can I use any fabric for this or does it have to be a certain kind?? My husband bought me some beautiful fabric but it's technically to make clothes with so it's probably a cotton blend I guess and I would love to put it on a cup instead for family set for myself my husband and my two boys but I didn't know if that fabric could work something for wasting the fabric I wanted to ask you..??
Robin Britton Hi! Thank you for watching my videos!! This is what I would do. I would find a small cup to test on, that way you won’t waste too much of the fabric. I have used cotton blend fabric and it has worked fine. I like to make sure the fabric has enough pull to it, that way if I need to I can move it around and stretch it around. I hope that helps. And good luck!! Happy crafting!!
Does this work with any type of fabric? I have 1 design in 2 types of fabric. One is cotton/Lycra and the other is woven. The cotton/Lycra is close to a spandex feel....stretchy, but thicker than the woven. Is one better than the other?
Erica White as long as it can stretch a little it should be fine. I haven’t tested any other fabric yet. You want to have some give so that you can move it where you want it. Happy crafting!!
FunSizeMe yes, most of the time I will epoxy then decal then epoxy again. If it Glitter, fabric or anything that might be rough I will epoxy first. If it’s just the cup itself I will do the decal and then epoxy.
The answer may be obvious to this question but after the mod podge dries and you cut your seam, how do you keep from cutting through both layers of fabric? This is my first fabric tumbler! Thank you!
Hi! I’ve recently got into crafting and saw this video. Copied you as you went. When I got to the epoxy, mine was really bubbly when I mixed and have air bubbles on my tumbler. Any suggestions? What did I do wrong? Thank you!!
Britney Schenck when mixing the epoxy there will always be bubbles. A heat gun is what I used once I put the epoxy on the cup. This will pop them and you will have a smooth look.
Probably a dumb question, but I'm going to try this tomorrow and I was just wondering when you were cutting the seam with your exacto knife, were you cutting all the way to the stainless?
When I cut the seam and pulled back the piece to throw away it ripped away from the fabric underneath where there was mod podge and left some fabric remnants from the fabric I pulled away. Did I mod podge over too far? How would I prevent that in the future? Fabric is from Hobby Lobby. Hopefully that makes sense.
Lindsay Zimmer yes sounds like you added to much mod podge or went over too far. I would add enough to hold the fabric down and then add more later if need be.
Exia Cheatham good question!! I haven’t done that, but I don’t see why not. I should test that out!! If you can do glitter on a mug, I don’t see why you can’t do fabric on a mug. Then epoxy over the fabric.
It doesn't say how large the whole sheet of fabric is. Just where she got them and that it came in a pack. The only thing she says is that she would measure out 12-13 inches out to cover it. I was just curious how big the squares are to begin with.

Amanda Aruta I sand the cups if I’m going to spray paint them. But if doing fabric I just glue the fabric on as is. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to sand the cup before adding the fabric.
The cup, fabric and mod podge I bought at Walmart. Epoxy I use now is FX. Tools I used were scissors, cutting blade, and turner. Countertop Epoxy - FX Poxy - UV Resistant Resin - 2 Quarts (Ultra Clear, 10 - 15 Sq Ft) www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJORLEE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_Iv3FafMQvJqjN

@@southernwondernc Are these hard to make with one hand?
I love this video!!! You're very informative and easy to follow and understand!!
Thank you! 💛
Jessica Maxwell aww thank you so much!
@@southernwondernc are you able to make these on the acrylic tumblers or just the aluminum ones?!
Jessica Maxwell I have only made these on aluminum ones.

Judy Ortmeier I do not have pool noodles but that sounds like it would work to hold your cup in place.
Judy Ortmeier my condolences, that’s a beautiful idea to honor your late husband! 🤗🌸
Lola Latte I made three cups, two for my youngest two grandsons and one for my great grandson! They turned out great!
Just bought that fabric from Walmart too! Making a cup tonight! :) :) :)

Melissa Miles I would look around and see what the average cost people are selling theirs at and start from there. It also depends on the cost of your materials you use.
I enjoyed the video, thanks! My question, can epoxy be brushed on similar to the way you did the mod podge?
Tara Seals yes it sure can!! I have the cheap kids brushes to paint my epoxy on. Pretty sure you can find them at the dollar store. Also make sure you have a jar of acetone to put the brushes in after you are done. When you want to use again just rinse with soap and water and use! I also rinse outside and not in any sinks. Thank you! Could I add glitter to my epoxy to give it a little more pizazz?
Toya Rivera oh yes! That would look awesome! I did one fabric cup and added glitter and it looked great!
love the video!! question.... I am about to epoxy my cup, but I have WHITE dried up streaks on my fabric from the glue, will that show up in my epoxy?
T Williams that sounds like you didn’t smooth out your glue well enough. I’m not sure if it would disappear when the epoxy is put on the cup. Sorry. I hope it does though.
Great tutorial, I am wondering what style cup would be easiest, a straight or skinny style? A tapered or one with a hump seems like it would be hard to get the fabric even or to wrap good. TYIA😊
Heather KWG after this video I would use the cups with no hump in it. I would use the straight tumblers for sure!
So glad I found this awesome tutorial. What kind of fabric should we use? 100% Cotton, cotton Lycra?
Leticia Vasquez not for sure what threads are in the fabric. I just picked up some squares at Walmart. I’m sure it’s cotton. It does have some stretch in it.
How long did you let your mod podge dry before adding your first layer of epoxy?
cassblack2006 I wait about an hour/hour in a half or so, because I mod podge about 3-4 times to make sure the edges are sealed.
Do you have to use epoxy and will the cup hold up without ? I do the mod podge plates without it.
Thank you so so so much for teaching me! I just made my first cup. However my lid won’t go all the way down and I haven’t even epoxied yet. I cut off all the fabric very well around the edge. What am I missing or doing wrong
Samantha Anglin maybe cut the fabric so that there is a half inch of the cup so that the lid will fit.
🙋🏻♀️thank you for sharing, do I have to use mod podré? Can I use 1:2 Elmer’s and 1/2 water?
Lola Latte I have not tried any other method. So I’m not sure how the elmers glue would hold.
Instead of using mod podge can you use a spray adhesive to adhere the fabric to the cup then epoxy over it?
Marsha Pope Marsha, I have not tried that method. So I don’t want to tell you that it works when it might not. I have always used mod podge, it sticks well and makes it easier to move the fabric around if you need to. If you do give it a try let me know how it works.
How would you make an old shirt into a fabric tumbler? I lost a sister and I want to make on of her shirts into a tumbler.
Faith Hunter should be able to just cut the shirt into the appropriate size 2 wrap around the cup.
@@faithhunter9295 I want to do the same. I lost my sister as well. So deeply sorry for your loss
If you dont want to wait for the podge to dry use a blow dryer.. it cuts down on the time so much
Could you also use Loctite or adhesive spray when applying the fabric onto the cup initially?
Brandy Wagaman I have never tried that, not really sure how well that will work.
I didn’t notice if you addressed this in the video but do you epoxy the bottom too? Or just to the end of the fabric?
Brandi Bailey yes coat the bottom as well.

Can I add a vinyl decal on top of the last layer of mod podge, before epoxy?
I would do a thin layer of epoxy over the fabric and then the vinyl and then epoxy again.
When putting a decal on do you epoxy first then put the decal on and epoxy again. Or put the decal on first and then epoxy
FunSizeMe yes, most of the time I will epoxy then decal then epoxy again. If it Glitter, fabric or anything that might be rough I will epoxy first. If it’s just the cup itself I will do the decal and then epoxy.
When cutting along the washi tape do you cut all the way through to the tumbler? Thats the part that im confused about
I think so? I came to the comments looking for the same answer. She lifted it off the cup a pulled a cut strip of fabric off, so I think so.
The answer may be obvious to this question but after the mod podge dries and you cut your seam, how do you keep from cutting through both layers of fabric? This is my first fabric tumbler! Thank you!
Brittaney White you cut all around the cup. There is only one layer of fabric on the cup. Not sure if I understand the question right.
By both layers I meant where they overlapped. I played your tutorial and did my cup at the same time. It turned out fabulous! Thank you so much!
Oh yay! So glad it worked well for you!

Have you ever wrapped a 30oz tumbler in material?
Mich Mali I have not wrapped a 30oz. I will be doing one soon.
We dont have a mod bodge in my country, can i use wood glue , the white one that dries colorless? ♥️thanks.
Asmahan Mtg I’m not sure that would work.
Where do u get ur logos/decals for the bottom of the cups?
Beth Goff I make them. ☺️ I have an Etsy store if you want to look around. I also do custom orders etsy.me/2KnuJCA
Can you put glitter on the bottom of the fabric that you use?
Sure!
Where do u usually get your tumblers from? Do they have to be a specific kind? Thanks in advance for the information :)
Theresa Johnson most of us get our tumblers from Walmart :) they are 10 dollars and there is no specific kind just a stainless steel tumbler
Theresa Johnson yes I get mine at Walmart also! Easy to get and they have tons of them.
Can we use polyester fabric to do the tumblers?
Jermaine Leo I don’t see why not. 😊
If I was going to put vinyl do I put modpodge over it and then epoxy or just epoxy over the vinyl?
Allie Bruscato I would do the fabric, mod podge, epoxy, vinyl then epoxy again.
So I have a white rtic that I wanna cover with white Harry Potter fabric. Do I still need to paint it white?
Jessica Ward yes I would paint it white. That would be best for white fabric.
I would add enough to hold the fabric down and then add more later if need be.
whats the last thing called that you put over it can you send me a link or show me what it looks like plz
So i put glitter around the top rim of my cup so i modge podge glitter and then modge.podge and then epoxy is this ok?
Yes that should work just fine
What if someone wanted a 32 oz cup with the taper in the middle? Will the fabric lay without folding up?
Amanda Laino I’m not for sure, you would probably have to measure to make sure it fits.
Can you use spray adhesive 200 instead of epoxy?
You can always experiment and see but I wouldn’t think that would hold or look good.
Would I be able to also add glitter on the fabric?
Maria Poyorena yes after the fabric is dry from the mod podge, then use mod podge to add the glitter.
Does it matter if I use matte vs glossy mod podge?
Jamie Tutson it doesn’t matter at all. Because you will seal it with epoxy.
Can you do this with a coffee mug?
Exia Cheatham good question!! I haven’t done that, but I don’t see why not. I should test that out!! If you can do glitter on a mug, I don’t see why you can’t do fabric on a mug. Then epoxy over the fabric.
What size fabric squares are those? I saw some at Wal-Mart yesterday, but wasn't sure what size would be needed to wrap a tumbler.
Kayla Pipkin she explains the size of the material in the beginning of the video.
It doesn't say how large the whole sheet of fabric is. Just where she got them and that it came in a pack. The only thing she says is that she would measure out 12-13 inches out to cover it. I was just curious how big the squares are to begin with.
Kayla Pipkin
What you want are called “fat quarters”. They are sold pre cut and folded for you.
J. Dianne Chapman I’ve seen them I think. The ones I saw I think were smaller though, only a few inches. But it was at a smaller Walmart, maybe need to check out a bigger one for these type ones
Youre furchild is behind you lol
janelle minor yes!!! She’s a needy kitty!! 😂
Lol 😂😂
When you say Modge Podge again at the end do you mean put Modge Podge all over the fabric all around the cup?
Ginger Porter yes, you want to make sure it is sealed so no epoxy goes through. 😊 Happy crafting!
Yes, I made that mistake last time! Trying again soon :-)
can you use the pre painted tumblers
Terri Sylvester I have not tried the pre painted tumblers, but I’m pretty sure you can!! 😊
I have a question. Do you have to hand wash these? Thank you for the video. I really want to make these.
Meagan Brown once you add epoxy and let dry for a couple of days, the cup can be hand washed only.
@@southernwondernc will a 18x 21 inch fabric work. They sell them at Walmart already cut
Meagan Brown the fabric I used were the square pieces that were already cut. I don’t remember the measurements.
This is my firsr fabric cup, i started late so i let it dry over night and all day after putting it on and mod podging the seam. Am i screwed or will it still work? Doesnt seem like it wants to come off..... :-(
Ruger Girl I’m not sure I understand the question? Nothing comes off the cup once you mod podge the fabric to the cup.
Amber Johnson how did the overlapped fabric under the seam come out?
Do you have to sand or prep the cup in any way?
Amanda Aruta I sand the cups if I’m going to spray paint them. But if doing fabric I just glue the fabric on as is. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to sand the cup before adding the fabric.
Noticed your shirt...is that Lithuania?
Donna Baker not sure what that is. My shirt is a running shirt. It says I run slower than a turtle in peanut butter but I run! 😆
Do I Need to sand my cup before applying the fabric?
Candace Lacy you don’t have to, but some people do.
Amber Johnson Thank You SO Much!!
Can you add glitter to the epoxy to add a glitter effect to the fabric design?
Rae Wright you can glitter to the fabric with mod podge or you can add glitter to the epoxy. Either way will work!
Can you let me know what epoxy you use?
Jessica Ward at the moment I have FX epoxy. But I also use pro marine.
Can you do the fabric on the plastic sippy cups?

Loved the video. It was very helpful. When you epoxy, do you do the lip of the cup?
Debe D yes I sure do!! I go over just a little bit so that the epoxy doesn’t shrink back off the lip of the cup.
