    The response to this video has been unreal! Thank you! I never in a millions years thought I would be on UA-cam. This was my very first video (I am sure you can tell) and I get a lot of the same questions asked. To help answer those, I am going to pin this here:
    *After the glitter is dry I use epoxy to seal the glitter.
    *I use Allumilite epoxy resin.
    *These are hand wash only after the epoxy is cured.
    *This video was to show how I do my ombre technique. It is not a completed project at this point.
    Thanks again!!

      Violet Doodles Boutique Thank you! This look awesome!! Quick question- did you put on a layer of epoxy, THEN apply the decal, THEN another layer of epoxy or is the decal on the very outside??

    I almost never comment but had to after reading all the questions and replies. You answered EVERY SINGLE ONE, even when the same question was asked of you 50 times. You are truly a patient soul, which is why you are such a good crafter. Please don’t even take one second to respond to me! Just want to say you did great video, and TIP Of THE DAY to everyone else out there: IF YOU WILL READ THE QUESTIONS AND REPLIES FIRST, you will not only most likely have your question answered but learn even more little extras from Violet Doodles and other crafters as well. Great job and beautiful project!

      You are my favorite! :) It does get repetitive, and on my grumpy days frustrating, but I am fairly patient. I taught Special Ed for a while and I think that is part of why it usually doesn't bother me. I am just so used to breaking steps down and repeat, repeat, repeat. Thanks so much for the comment! It truly made my day!

      I find that doing the glitter application in a cardboard box lined with a garbage bag helps to keep the glitter storm under control, and while it’s amazing to watch-it’s even more mesmerizing to create! Give it a try! I made everyone in my family one for Christmas a couple years ago and they were a big hit! ❤️

      Violet Doodles Boutique do you recommend applying lock tite or some form of adhesive in between the first and second coat or is waiting an hour in between before applying the second coat of mod podge sufficient?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  6 років тому

      I apply the second coat with mod podge just like the first coat. I dry brush any extra loose glitter off first and its good to go. I will seal between coats if it is more than 2 colors or a specific design.

      It really depends on the type of glitter and the base color. These were a transparent type of glitter on a white base, so I could still see a little white after the first coat. If you match your base to your glitter, you are less likely to need two coats. I usually answer questions at night after all of my mom duties are finished. Good luck.

    Would this work with a fine glitter on top and a chunky mixture glitter on the bottom or better to fine glitter the entire cup and go back with chunky?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  6 років тому +1

      Chunky is better when applied with epoxy. If you want to use MP for the fine, cover the whole cup. Then when you add your first layer of epoxy, you can sprinkle the chunky on the bottom. There is no need to mix the two.

      How many coats of epoxy do you use over chunky glitter?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  6 років тому

      It really just depends. You don't want to feel anything poking through. You can sand it after epoxy is applied, but be careful to not sand directly on the glitter because the color can come off. I usually have 1-2 layers over glitter.

    Great work and it looks like fun. As soon as I find or make a turner I’m gonna try this. I can hardly wait to get started.

    On the first cup, around the lip area there was a place that the glitter missed...how do you go back and touch that up?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  6 років тому

      I just went back over that spot lightly with my MP on my brush and added the glitter. It is at 15:14 in the video if you want to rewatch it.

    Beautiful! Great video! I just subscribed! Thank you so much for sharing your techniques! How long after the 2nd coat, do you add the epoxy?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  6 років тому

      I let it wait at least an hour to make sure it is completely dry, but it is usually the next day. I do a lot of my work at night.

    This may have already been asked but, once you've applied your first coat of glitter what do you do to prep for your second coat of glitter? Do you brush the loose glitter off then apply another coat of mod podge then glitter again? Thank you.

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  6 років тому

      Yes, exactly that! Lightly dry brush, MP, glitter. Wait until fully dry between coats!!
      After second coat, lightly dry brush, tape and epoxy.

    Great video, love this effect, never knew there was food grade epoxy, this is why I never tried these. What kind of white paint did you use before glittering. So nice that you care what products you use. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks! I used flat white spray paint. I have been looking into lots of resins. Not all have gone through the FDA testing to make sure it is safe to come in contact with food, although many more probably are safe. I have had a hard time finding one that is slow to yellow, FDA compliant, and has a high heat rating. The search continues...
