I hope Jobby can read this, but I've found a way to straighten out the legs in truck mode so the cab isn't leaning forward. Before tabbing in the truck bed to the back of the cab, make sure his knees are not fully bent forward, make sure that his hips are perfectly flat with his lower legs, then you can proceed to tabbing them to the cab. Also to make the Transformation smoother in general, when going from robot to truck mode, I always do the limbs first, then torso (but not the backpack), arms, backpack. I do this because the front wheels get in the way of the sides of the truck.
Backpacks don’t bother me in the slightest, as long as it’s clean and holds together well they’re fine in my book, especially when they can add bulk and look cool. And when there’s no feasible way this could ever work without the backpack, I can be quite a bit more lenient.
While it’s definitely not perfect (as users in tfw2005 raging about its flaws), it’s a huge step up from other Optimus toys for mainline. It says a lot that people saying it’s overrated still thinks it’s a good toy.
Yeah, but it isn't THAT much better than Earthrise for double the price. If you don't give a shit about perfect G1 accuracy (which this doesn't have either lol) Earthrise will work just fine lol
The only thing 86 Prime has that ER Prime doesn't is proper articulated hands and butterfly joints. Otherwise it has the same knee bend and same disappointing 90 degrees at the elbow.
@_V.Va_ Earthrise also has four ugly holes on the arms, bad proportions, proportions that block some articulation, and stealing some parts from the siege and making them worse.
Its the best "mainline" G1 Optimus Prime ever in this scale. That's pretty much without a doubt. But yeah he's supremely outclassed by a lot of the 3p options
And to @jobby2, Roller has slots in the front underside. Those slots plug onto two tabs on the front of the anti-air drone. It’s backwards and stupid, but that’s how Roller is secured in the trailer.

When you bring the legs up flat, they shift back a tiny little bit, allowing the back leg panels to sit flush against the cab. If you’ve modded those back leg panels, well done, you’ve damaged your $90 figure for no reason at all.
If you mean the tabs on the calves that tab into the back of the elbows, no, they're just molded too large and force themselves out of the slot. It's a minor issue but it does require shaving the top of them to fix.

what really stopped me from getting this and honestly made me reconsider collectin mainline was that it was almost as much as te op leader. with is a way better optimus prime figure
It’s not a flaw, the problem is that the knees need to be oriented at a very specific angle for the thigh-to-calf-panel tabs to sit properly BEFORE the panels tab into the back of the forearms, which is a super tight fit but ends up with a much nicer cab where the panels at the bottom of the cab can sit properly under the legs
