Glenn's lead playing is mind blowing, even when he's not going at top speed, you can hear that heavy blues influence, you can hear a bit or Rory Gallagher and Peter Green. But it's still so uniquely Glenn. The way he outlines chords is his solos is such a beautiful compliment to KK's raw improvised style. And I think you can hear the influence his phrasing has on Rob's vocal phrasing, especially the improvised parts ("you take the bullet, on which my na-AME!!"), Rob sounds unbelievable here! Dude, Rob Halford and King Diamond are the Metal Gods. They are eligible for AARP and still blow me away today! I mean, who else in metal sounds this good in their post-mid 60s?
What a landmark album in 1980. You also get Back in black from AC/DC, Ace of Spades from Motorhead. Metal took on a new life at this time, and no doubt British Steel set the tone for the rest of the 1980's. thebreeze12 I saw them on this tour with Iron Maiden on support. Sorry but British Steel was the beginning of the end for Priest for me: the early Maiden were much better.
Andy Mackie I respect your opinion but even though both Priest and Maiden are "heavy metal" I always thought of Maiden as more of a punk style metal with a prog (Rush style) sound where Priest are more that traditional style crunch. I think Maiden topped out with Piece of Mind. Powerslave was okay it has Aces high and 2 minutes to midnight. Piece of Mind is my favorite Maiden album!! It's funny though because there always seem to be a bit of rivalry between Priest and Maiden fans!! But as I said in my original post, the 4 bands I mentioned are the most important bands of that genre and I have to give kudos to Pantera for keeping metal alive during the late 90's early 2000's by not compromising there style or sound!!

Tipton Rocks!!
Simply the best Metal Band ever. They have always claimed Metal. NEVER have they ran from that label. They are truly Defenders Of The Faith.
Wow! There is no one better because Iommi is the original METAL GOD,,,,,!!!!¡!!!!. I love Priest also, Tommy Iommi is the reason metal heads like me at almost 65 yrs young are still rocking all these yrs later. Carrying the torch forever!!!!!! LONG LIVE METAL AND LONG LIVE THE KING --> Tommy Iommi
I love how Rob Halford casually walks out on stage on every song like the True Metal God he is \m/
Glen and KK are the best duo's in rock guitarists.... JP is flat out one of the best rock bands out there.... Pure rock energy
One of the best riffs ever!
Judas Forever!!!
