Dunno about you guys, but to me Udo Dirkschneider sounds like Lemmy in the lower register, and Bon Scott in the higher register. That aggression is awesome!!
I got to see these guys back in the 80’s @ the Old RITZ Theater in NYC!!! They were unbelievably good!! They rocked the hell out of the place!!! I’ll never forget it!!
No matter your feeling on the 80's; whether you think they sucked or rocked, Some of the best songs and guitar riffs ever came out of the 80's. Absolutely no denying this song contains both!!
I was a metal bassist in the 80’s. Possibly the only brother I knew locally in the genre. This track was highly influential on my tastes as was Living Colour. 🎸
underrated? I don't think so. In 1984, soon after this album was released, Musician magazine rated Accept the number 1 metal band in the world. (Scorpions made #2, on the tails of their monster Love at First Sting album)
My uncle, Rob Armitage is a lead singer and left his band called “baby tuckoo” in the 80s to join accept. I’m not sure what happened but after a few months he left and joined jagged edge. He still is one of the best rock voices I’ve ever heard, everyone that hears him says the same. Things didn’t work out for him and he didn’t hit the big time but he toured with Ozzy osbourne and did a concert with Def Leppard. He was my hero when I was growing up. He still sounds mint now.
@@ALLMETAL1970 in my opinion his voice is up there with some of the great rock singers, it’s hard to believe he didn’t make it to the proper big time. If you already haven’t heard it, search on UA-cam for his second baby tuckoo album called “force majeure” and listen to some of the songs on the album......you won’t regret it. It’s as good or better than any other rock from that era. Thanks for replying man!!

Probably the first use of Gregorian chant in heavy metal. These guys were way underrated, and are really the foundation for a lot of the speed/trash metal bands that followed.

One of the greatest voices in all metal history. It is like a vocal CHAINSAW! Packed with MEGATONS of venom and attitude. NOBODY can sound like him. Seen and heard many try.
This was one of the first vinyls I ever had as a kid, for a very long time I thought it was an AC/DC record. I remember it had a picture of a wrecking ball on the cover.
He was referring to one song and his statement was accurate... It takes a lot more than 1 song to sell more records. Much radio air play and touring for starters, (promotion sell records)! And it costs money to promote music.
One of the few metal bands I first got into after Saxon and Maiden before thrash and always thought Udos voice sounded like the exact centrepoint between Bon and Brian.

I have a lot of respect for these 80s, German metal heads. They chose to be famous even if it meant "making it" in a language that's not their mother tongue.
@@brianbittermann9331 yes, so true, my friend!! I don't think they would be as cool if they sang in English, but that's because I'm an American. I'm sure Germans don't perceive Rammstein the same way because the language is native to them. They're like, "It sounds normal to me", but Americans like myself find German not only a cool language, but scary and badass too. I say that with respect lol!! :)
First time I saw Accept in concert, at Bradley University's Robertson Memorial Fieldhouse in April 1985, I noticed that Udo Dirkschneider sounded like Bon Scott, dressed like Ted Nugent, cut his hair like Rob Halford, and was short like Ronnie James Dio.
This was a treat to hear. I just heard this on Alice's Attic on KSLX. Hard to believe this song turned 40 this past spring. I was 17, going on 18 in the spring of 84 and was attending Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix. I first heard this on Metalshop on 93.3 KDKB back then. I am 58 these days.
According to some things I've heard about this song (and by interpreting the lyrics as well), it speaks against tyranny and oppression, and it makes a lot of sense given the cruelty of the dictatorships from their times. Decades and decades later, the message remains, and I'm dedicating this one to the ones who are fighting for freedom in this world. If it is to die fighting, an hour of freedom is worth more than forty years a slave or more. Don't give up, Venezuela. Don't give up, Hong Kong. Don't give up, Belarus. Stand strong.

Fun fact. In 1971, Bon Scott had an abnormal growth removed from his left shoulder. The abnormal growth survived and became the singer of Accept.
Omg my favorite comment ever!..im a bon scott mofo
Funny Dude! I like your thoughts.
Ha. I was trying to put my finger on what the deal with the lead singer was and you nailed it!
I heard this song on serious xm for the first time like a week ago... And I actually thought it was Brian Johnson singing... It's just similar....

No matter your feeling on the 80's; whether you think they sucked or rocked, Some of the best songs and guitar riffs ever came out of the 80's. Absolutely no denying this song contains both!!
very very true!
Ya, nobody can debate that point. Love it or hate it, 80s rock was exactly what the 80s was. And it was legendary.

80s trad metal was badass, Maiden, Accept, Krokus, Priest. Its the hair metal bands that were shite..except for maybe 2

Fucking hell yeah. Totally underrated and a perfect metal anthem.
I agree!
Heard him before, fucking great voice

I have a lot of respect for these 80s, German metal heads. They chose to be famous even if it meant "making it" in a language that's not their mother tongue.
Accept e D+ Head bangers

Rammstien is the only German band that sings in their native language, that's what I love about them
@@brianbittermann9331 yes, so true, my friend!! I don't think they would be as cool if they sang in English, but that's because I'm an American.
