LYRICS
Can you remember, remember my name?
As I flow through your life
A thousand oceans I have flown
Oh, and cold
Cold spirits of ice
Ah, ah, all my life
I am the echo of your past
I am returning, the echo of a point in time
And distant faces shine
A thousand warriors I have known
Oh, and laughing
As the spirits appear
All your, all your life
Shadows of another day
If you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers
I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow
A strand of silver hanging through the sky
Touching more than you see
The voice of ages in your mind
Oh, is aching with the dead of the night
Oh, precious life
Your tears are lost in falling rain
And if you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers

Deep Purple always transports you to another place and time. 💜
The best bands always do
An exceptional band. All the classic line up are incredible, just a shame Blackmore is a thoroughly nasty piece of work. Had he not been, he’d have been getting spoken of in the same reverence as Clapton, Page, Green, Hendrix, etc

I'm a youngster (64) and Hell Yes! Purple rocks!
I consider this Deep Purples best song. Because it has a heavy beat, heavenly guitar, and it's just a kick ass song.
This and Stormbringer are probably my favourite Deep Purple and gives a nod to both Ian Gillan and David Coverdale's stint with the band. That being said the beginning of Child In Time Ian Gillan's vocals give me chills.
This song is crazy fucking good 😮
Love this tune dearly but Child In Time is right up there too!
This is one of my favorites as well, right up there with Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming
It's the greatest song by anyone PERIOD
Ian Gillan - lead vocals
Ritchie Blackmore - guitar
Jon Lord - organ, keyboards
Roger Glover - bass, synthesizer
Ian Paice - drums
So many fond memories. Thanks for the awesome music.
I use to say "THE GOLDEN FIVE" !!!!..........
😍😍😍
@Panos Xaitagian - the next Golden Five was Blackmore on lead guitar, Ronnie James Dio lead vocals, Tony Carey on keyboards, Cozy Powell on his double bass drum kit and Jimmy Bain on bass guitar forming Rainbow after DP broke up - their Rising album is fakking brilliant!
@Northern Wealth Anarchy Perimeter
I agree!!!
thanks really
My very first intro to this masterpiece, my older brother was blasting it from his upstairs bedroom. Totally mesmerized, I sat at the bottom of that staircase, getting goosebumps from a song for the first time...I was 6 years old, and that was almost 40 years ago. Still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. I'm forever grateful to my brother for passing down his knowledge of all things great, especially his kick-ass taste in music.
Мне было 15лет, когда я впервые услышала deep perpl,благодаря моему любимому двоюродному брату. Сейчас мне 60 и я не устаю восхищаться этой группой.

I always thought Gillian’s voice was one of the best rock voices ever.
It is and always will be
That's because it is.
Yes, definitely.
And, growing up with both "Made in Japan" AND "Made in Europe", I also fell in LOVE 💕 with The Voice of The Singer of "You Fool No One!" 😊 on that Amazing Live Album!, David Q. Coverdale, VIII 😳 😊--with that Deep, Rich, And Wonderfully **Soulful Voice!** 😊
I also Enjoy and Highly Recommend Deep Purple's 🟣💜 studio album, "Burn!" 👏 👏 👏
... with the only Caveat with All of this being that I Usually Can't Stand Glenn Hughes's Screaming voice.
For example, when David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes sing duets--with Glenn Hughes taking the high voice--I AM ALMOST ALWAYS **GREATLY ANNOYED BY HUGHES'S SCREAMING!** 😡
@@bluewater3783oh yeah, Coverdale has an amazing voice as well and was a perfect replacement for Gillian. I do find it funny that Coverdale had to go and mess with his face back in the 80s, he went from boyish charm to old man trying to look young. But his voice stayed on point!
Ian Gilkan and Ronnie James Dio had THE best voices
I've been listening to Deep Purple since 1969. It's 2024, and Ian Gillan is still my favorite singer. 😍 ❤❤❤❤❤

Jon Lord gave Deep Purple its cool hip distinctive sound. And paved the way for what we know now as the synthesizer being the most important instrument in a band. The front and center of it all. Jon Lord was the grandfather of DJ's.
And then Rush came out. They also work with synth esp Geddy Lee
Bernie Worrell. Lord mostly used Organs. Both are incredibly influential, but Worrell is tip top. Synth basslines and synth focused music came from him
Одна из моих любимых песен. Уровень такой, что даже если они на сцене будут стоять молча, народ все равно будет ими восхищаться!

Melody, chorus, rhythm - near the ending climax heavily influenced by Mozart & Orff.
One of the most underrated songs/albums ever. Deep Purple pioneered, and wrote the book on, melodic hard-rock. There is no other.
@MisterG I can't think of any in that melodic hard rock style prior to Purple

At 52 I ruminate daily on thoughts that I have either died and moved onto some sort of purgatory, or I am an amnesiac alien visitor from a land that resembles this place but a world with a soul. one of the best hard rock songs ever written.
Hearing this song live in 87 was amazing. Blackmore's vamp on vinyl/cd/etc just doesn't capture what it FELT like back there in Joe Louis. Fekkin AMAZING.
one of the best songs of Deep Purple
One of the BEST comeback albums ever. All killer, no filler!. Too bad they never made another that was even half as good. Oh well, they're still one of the greatest rock bands of all time!
Yeah it would take 12 years before the next good album.
Who's listening in 2020?. Definitely me😊
And meeee!
Me
Бессмертная классика. А ты чего хотел?
👌
Everyone with good taste of music, Deep Purple, MK II, I will listen to that band till the day I die. The ONLY band!
I loved this song when it came out and still love and listen to it today. I personally this is the best song they ever produced.
Nice song to combat that break-up depression. Repeat mode is on.
Love the video of all the members of the band together laughing and playing around . The energy was probably out of this world and u can't replace that. Amazing song and the length of the songs in that era are awesome.
Замечательно
When you see Ritchie smile you know it's golden
😍😍😍
he seemed not having been so easy
Yes, Outstanding Performance 👏
He is SMILING 😃
Parece que sim hehehehe
Who's watching in 2024🤘🤘🤘 what 1984 look like 🤘🤘🤘I was 17 years old and i got to see this tour 🤘🤘 it was huge 🤘🤘🤘🤘💯💯💯
I saw this tour too as a teenager, it was great! Miss those times!
✌️
when the spirits.................
As a teenage in the 80s, this song was actually my introduction to Deep Purple. Man it is so good! In my opinion it holds up against anything from Machine Head, Deep Purple in Rock, and so on. Never wanted this song to end!
This song is timeless. I grew up in the 80’s and still very much into lots of music. Still one of my favorites of all time.
That never goes away. I'm 59, and I still buy as much music as I can and am like an excited teenager again waiting to hear it all
I am 55 years old, today and still listening to this band, and still got goosebumps
Happy birthday 🎉
@@laurasupko .... hi, thanks
I am 65 years younger
I was listening to machine head with my grandson. He buying a twin turbo sts cadi. Highway Star introduced to a new generation
Have you ever seen anyone as happy playing as Roger Glover.
Слушаю на протяжение почти 50 лет. Великая группа. Для меня Perfect Strangers- лучшая их вещь.
Согласен,с оговоркой,одна из лучших.
Agreed.
Просто кайф!
Одна из лучших! Эх молодость!))))
Согласен с тобой полностью дружище. 👍
this line up was one of the strongest in rock in roll history.
too bad Gillan and Ritchie didn't get along or maybe it would be..............
yup, i agree with that and when someone asks me for a hard rock song i'll tell the name of this one for sure
I love this line up too. but I also love when D.C. joined. listen to Mistreated and Soldier of Fortune which D.C. and Ritchie wrote together.
Mistreated is a fine song. some tasty stuff on Burn.
This incarnation of Blackmore was certainly not his strongest IMO. I never cared for Deep Purple. Rainbow with a young Ronnie James Dio and the later Joe Lynn Turner, especially Difficult to Cure surpassed this by far.
Definitely my favorite song... Been listening to Deep Purple for about 50 years now...
Oh my goodness .THIS is THE best line up of purple EVER ! THE greatest rock comeback album ever ! THE greatest guitarist ,Blackmore BACK where he belonged .
I keep returning to this tune , it’s deep , powerful and everything that makes Deep Purple who they are .
Awesome
Foghorn Leghorn ii seen them in concert they are great but what about space trucking
Dabiel Wright
It’s so difficult to choose .
I remember hearing the lyrics ‘tears lost in falling rain ‘ on the radio and it got into my veins , after hours googling it lead me here .
Yes , Space Trucking is awesome but the coarseness of this grips me ....
