First of all your chili looks delicious. Im from Texas and we add a whole lot more chili powder and cumin, crushed garlic or garlic powder and onions along with the tomato sauce. Most Texans don’t put beans in their chili but I was also taught to cook by a father who was a fine cook (and was a yankee from New York) and he put beans in our chili. Mother always set the table and cleaned up the kitchen after dinner.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your recipes. I just found this one and did not realize this was your first. I can’t count the number that I have copied, made, and passed on. I am getting ready to go in the kitchen and make your pimiento cheese. I am going to make it with chopped bread and butter pickles as I have them on hand and you commented that you like them better. I just know it will be a keeper too. I will be getting the ingredients for the chili tomorrow. You two are just the sweetest couple. I know your school and church are so fortunate to have you. Many blessings to you and your family. And, happy day! September 1 and for my family it is officially fall!!!

This looks good and easy. But why add the Tomato Paste when you already have tomato juice and tomatoes? Tom, you started out a little shy but you quickly overcame that. You are a natural, lol. Many thumbs up guys. God bless you.
That’s the great thing about cooking. Everybody can make it to their own taste. We are not fans of kidney beans, but we love it with the chili beans. Thank you very much for watching our video. We appreciate it.
I agree, drives me crazy too when cooks don't get all the food out of the bowls and waste so much. This recipe looks yummy. Love chili. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Tom, I find that when I use my meat chopping tool like the one you have, I keep using it even once the meat gets brown. It helps to get the meat off that tool. Also if you go ahead and scoop most of that fat from the meat it helps you get those brown bits on the meat. That’s been my experience. I wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed your video. I like how you tell us each ingredient that you use. Then you guys go the extra mile by writing out the recipe and giving it to us in the description. That’s so thoughtful. And much appreciated. Thank you so much! God bless you and your family. You’re such a sweet man and thoughtful! You are so right about having someone to cook for. Our kids are grown and gone but I do still enjoy having them all over and cooking for them. I just enjoy cooking! Now it’s just me bc I lost my husband to brain cancer. We were married 39 years.
I did enjoy it very much, my husband passed away Aug 2019 I sure miss him at my table. He was like Tom loved to cook and he did it well 😁.God Bless you both some day we may meet in our heavenly and have meal at the big table 🤍
I love your channel! It's totally bingeworthy!! You had me at 'Waste not, want not.' I get super frustrated when people don't clean out the bowl/can/pan thoroughly.
Oh we don't like to be wasteful. We appreciate that you agree with us on that! Thank you so much for watching. We really appreciate it. And this was our very first video EVER! We had so much to learn back then. Not that we're experts now - we are not- but we were such novices at that point.
When I watch cooking shows and they're using bell peppers but don't use the top or bottom parts because you have to clean it more, it just drives me crazy. I use every part, no matter if it takes me 30 more seconds to clean it!
Am new to your channel and as a 76year old I love some of the things I never knew to do. Yes I also use some sugar in my chili. I also think it makes the chili taste better. Learned how to boil potatoes for the best mashed potatoes. Never knew to put them in boiling water instead of starting them in cold water. Did that tonight and it was great. Thanks for sharing this with us.😀
I've missed the mashed potatoes recipe & have never heard of putting potatoes into boiling Water vs. cold water. But if that's the way Tom does it, I will definitely have to give it a try. Thanks for mentioning it. I've always loved chili in a nest of mashed potatoes! Or any other way. And I've never had grilled cheese with chili & I will have to try that, too.
I just found your channel this week . I really love it. I put spicy V-8 juice in my chili . I can always have more vegetables in my diet . People can't tell the difference.
@debmorehead1118 @cindeeaubry2878 Both ur recipe ingreds sound very gud. Im gonna try them both for sure maybe even tgthr at the same time. Tyfs ladies! 😉
Drives me crazy when they don't scrape the bowls too. My parent went thru the Great Depression and were adamant we never wasted any food. A use was found for everything, including the fat drained from meat. Looks delicious!
Welcome to UA-cam! I use a table knife to clean out the Pampered Chef breaker-upper. Not because I am afraid of touching the meat, but because I just don't want to have to wash off my hands and I don't mind washing a table knife. Until I saw the pampered chef tool, I used a fork! My mother was a restaurant cook, but I could never handle kitchen tools like she could - - plus, when I started cooking for my children, we couldn't really afford to buy kitchen utensils - - I just learned to work with what I had. I was really impressed with the Pampered Chef tool. Good for you! You poured some of the onions in (keep in mind that I only use onions because I could care less, but I am sure REAL men like onions!), gave the hamburger a couple of stirs and I thought: Not enough onions! Sure enough! You went for the bag! Good on you! I am not a cook (just not domesticated much) but I could tell by the color ... I don't know what made your final decision, but I APPLAUDED! YES! By the time it is all chili, no one is going to actually taste onion when they bite into it, are they? It is the texture they want, I think ... same with the cut up tomatoes ... I like smooth chili sauce - - tomatoes must be for texture! (That is all I can figure) Okay! I like big chunks of hamburger, so I put in four pounds of hamburger - - if my chili lasts a week, that is five days less cooking I have to do, so I always made chili in the biggest pot I could find. Just for the record - - when I made spaghetti, I filled a roaster pan full ... again, fewer meals to make. I was privileged enough (being born and raised on a ranch) that the idea of buying five pounds of hamburger and parceling out over a week was just beyond my ken. I have really enjoyed life and living ... and people I raised grew up to adulthood without food poisoning or ever going hungry. They all live away from me now, but it always sounds to me like they live in diners. No problem - - if I could have afforded it, I would have done that too. AND! Every one of those kids cook dishes I have never considered making - - so, they did learn something from me. and, oh yeah! I use a lot more water in my chili - - I like a little chili with my crackers. LOL Oh, Melissa! You are BEAUTIFUL! I can see why you like to cook, Tom. She is well worth all the "Babe"s and affection you show her! The two of you are a good team. I also top my chili with cheddar cheese and sour cream .... I eat my chili with a fork! LOL. Grilled cheese sandwiched with ham is a stand alone dinner. Differences are great, aren't they????
Looks and sounds delicious! I want to make this for Fall! I always add some big red kidney beans to our chili, but it's all good! Thank you for sharing this, I really enjoy all your videos!
I'm so enjoying your cooking channel. Its fall here & still warm. Leaves aren't changing just yet! I'm looking forward to making this chili. Thank you Tom & Melissa.
I’ve just started watching your channel, and I love it!! I love how you and Melissa keep coming up with recipes that are so especially useful and delicious. Congratulations on your growth over the past year!
This recipe is very similar to mine. I started adding a dash or two of cinnamon to my chili and was very pleasantly surprised. It makes so much difference to the flavor and takes it up a notch.
@cathylongstreth5405 There is just enough cinnamon to enhance the chili. You can taste something different, but there's is not enough of a cinnamon flavor to recognize it as such.
Several years ago I was making a pot of chili and I thought I got the chili powder. I was wrong. I grabbed the cinnamon but I only put a little in it before I smelled it. Then I added the chili powder as usual. I have to say it was the best chili I ever made. Now I always put a little cinnamon in it.
Well I made your Chili and it turned out fantastic. I understand there are many versions of Chili but I must say that this is right up there in the top 3 all time. Thank you both for your channel. I will definitely keep checking and trying your recipes.
In the south we have rice with our chili. I often cook dried pinto beans one day and chili the next. I use Texjoy chili powder in both my pinto beans and chili.
It’s really about personal taste. We don’t care for the taste of the sauce so we drain them. Thank you for watching our video. We really appreciate it.
So fun to see your debut episode! Hope you didn't get much flak from the anti-bean crowd - I'm pro-bean myself. I'm also a big "waste not, want not" guy. I got that from my great aunt via my mom, who was a child of the Great Depression. No wasted food at our house! Love your videos. ❤
Love, love, love your, cooking show. And the way you explain how much food and each ingredient. Your excellent at what you do, thank you so much. Blessings to you and Melissa. Love your family stories also.
Corn bread is really good with Chilli ... Your recipe sounds good and yummy ! 😊😋 Nothing like a good bowl of Chilli during the Fall and Winter Seasons ! 😊😋🥰
I have adjusted my chili recipe over the years. I love to learn other recipes and try variations to see if I like better. Looking forward to trying yours. Looks yummy 😋
I just discovered your channel a week ago. This is the 3rd recipe I've found. Made the the Derby pie a few days ago & my family loved it. Won't be making the Chili until it cools off here. I'm so ready for fall. Which is my favorite time of year. We live in Oklahoma & the heat is killing us right now. Anyway thanks so much for the recipe. 😊
I had come across your channel recently and have been going through them, each recipe is exactly what I would eat. Today I was specifically looking for a chili recipe to can. I came to your channel and will make this chili. It looks delicious. Also, I watched your meatloaf recipe today, that’s at the top of my list. Thank you for taking the time to post.
You can use a little bit less tomato juice and/or just let the finished chili simmer over low heat for an hour or two (or until it gets as thick as you would like it.) I would just simmer mine down, I think. If you’re reducing the amount of tomato juice, you’re also reducing the amount of flavour.
Hi Tom & Melissa! I've been looking for a good chilli recipe and here it is! I subscribed to your channel about a month ago and very much enjoy it. I love the way you 2 interact and your recipes are always quite easy and yummy! Congratulations on your one year YT anniversary! 🎉👏 Thank you for sharing your table with us! ❤ from 🇨🇦
I always add green pepper and celery, but I know your wife doesn’t like celery. We like it and it really flavors the chili. I never drain my chili beans cause they have a seasoning on them. You could probably use a can of red beans or kidney beans instead. I always add sugar too!
@lynmichael7476 I always add a green bell pepper to my chili but I've never tried celery before. That sounds delicious I think I will try that I do love the smell of salt sauted celery and onions my favorite Kitchen scent. I've never heard of anyone putting celery in their chili but there's always a 1st Sounds yummy Also I've never heard of someone draining "chili" beans Only kidney beans 🙈 To each their own I guess! I never ever drain my chili beans tho..... That just wouldn't make sense Because it's got the chili flavor in it but I rarely use chili beans I I always use different variety of beans. Bt like i said...."to each their own" 🤷 I've never ever added sugar to my chili but that sounds so amazing I've heard of people doing it to spaghetti but I'm definitely gonna try it in my chili 😛
Iwas looking on your recipes and found the chili. Looks yummy like mine except tomato sauce I always drain the beans don't want the sauce in it and love the scraping of bowls ect I watch cooking chanels on tv and they leave alot left mabey they are oa time limit lol thanks for sharing God Bless
We are so appreciative that you watched our very first video. We had so much to learn when we did made this one! Thanks you so much for joining us at the table.
We are so happy to hear this! We love it and we always enjoy chili this time of year! Thank you so much for watching - especially our very first video ever!
I've never mastered chili but this recipe sounded delicious and easy. Its October and here in North Mississippi irs beginning to get cool...finally. I'm making this recipe this weekend. Thinking wr might do this for church Wednesday night. Thanks for this recipe.
We hope you all love it like we do! We always enjoy what we call "chili weather" especially after the heat of summer finally relents! Thank you so much for watching our channel - this was our very first video and we are pleased to have you watching it on our one-year anniversary!
Looks delicious! Thank you for sharing! I have one of those meat choppers and I use a rubber spatula to clean the raw meat as I cook. I love different types of chilies like chicken I recently made and it includes lots of minced garlic and onion, diced red pepper and near the end of cooking chopped zucchini. I always rinse my beans as well. I always put cheddar cheese on whichever chili I make and cornbread is a wonderful side
I agree with you about adding sugar in your chili. I put it in most of my dishes where I'm using a lot of tomatoes and tomato sauces. It does enhance the flavors. I love all of your and Melissa's videos. Melissa does such a wonderful job with the videos and you as a cook (chef). Thank you for sharing.
The reason stirring and stirring the hamburger breaks it up finely is because of the water that comes out of the meat. Adding some water to the ground beef does the same thing without ruining the Le Creuset dutch oven with that stainless spoon - the water eventually evaporates right out and a safe wooden spoon suffices. You're soooo lucky to have home canned tomato juice as I am aware of the work involved in canning. wow. Plus a splash of tiger sauce is awesome in chili beans, or even a hershey kiss to give it a mole taste, agree with the sugar, Mexene brand chili powder is better than any.Hope my view is welcomed.
Absolutely! You cannot believe how many wonderful tips and suggestions we've received from thoughtful viewers like you! We are so grateful! Thanks for the feedback and for watching our channel. This was our very first video and we were such novices! Not that we are experts now, but we have definitely learned so much since we made this first video and started our channel.
Looks really good but I’ve never had chili with sugar in it before. Looks delicious. I never drain my chili beans love that sauce in mine. Keep cooking.
I am still watching your videos ❤Hopefully I can get through all 10 months worth of videos ❤ I like the fact, that the ingredients that you use, are things that are in our kitchen already, simple ingredients ❤ God Bless and stay safe ❤ Hugs from Roswell, New Mexico ❤ You both are a beautiful, lovely couple ❤
I'm making your sweet, and heat chili, now!!! It is delicious. I added a scant more sugar in mine. It is delicious!!! Thank you, tom, and melissa!!! Delish!!!, ohio.
@davemeiser2999 Hi....im in Ohio too! Their recipe doz sound amazing I wanna try it before it gets warm tho I NVR drain my chili beans bc its got the chili juice in it only my kidney beans. Also I will add couple more cans of variety of beans bc I luv them! I luvvvvvv tom/Melissa n their recipes! Their channel is 1 out of 5 of my top fav channels!
I love the way you clean as you go & scrape your bowls completely!! My mother taught me to clean my bowls completely and peel as little potato skins as possible when peeling potatoes. I agree with "waste not want not" 100%. I have thoroughly enjoyed all your videos. You talking slow I like also!!!! Jodie from WEST Virginia the Mountain and friendly state. God bless you two.
I’m with you on that! Scraping all product out of all bowls and jars. Don’t waste anything. My Grandmothers and Mom were very adamant about not wasting food. . Even washing liquid detergent , dish or clothing. Rinse all jugs.
It's just way too expensive to be wasteful. We so appreciate that you watched our very first video ever for our channel. We had so much to learn at the time. We are by no means experts now, but we sure hope you have improved a bit over these 250 some videos! We love having you at the table with us.
I also build the tomato flavors in my soups and chili by using various tomato products! I use a little sugar to take the edge off tomatoes acidity! I use chili beans. dark and light red kidney beans and mild Rotel! Great recipe....for a crowd!❤❤
Hi Tom, so glad to see that your videographer Melissa is included in this video! We're new to your channel and have just recently begun watching. Everything we've seen you prepare is wonderful. We especially enjoy real-time preparations in the kitchen, without editing things out that don't go well. Those moments just add a larger enjoyment factor for us. Please keep doing what you're doing.
Welcome to our channel! We are so glad to have you joining us at the table. We try our best to present an honest, quality video that's not too distracting with our mistakes. We appreciate that you've watched our very first video. We were true novices with that one. Not that we are professionals now, but hopefully, we've learned a few things along the way!
I love chilli. I've never tried packaged chilli mix, but I'll take your word for it. I also add a can of rinsed & drained black beans to chilli because I really like them, plus the chilli beans. I am anxious to try your chilli. We went to two chilli cook-offs & I was shocked to see one with mushrooms, one without beans, one vegetarian, and, get ready.......one with chunks of pineapple. Some were actually bland & some were very spicy. I had a friend who invited me for lunch & she served "chilli", which was ground beef, a quarter of onion, 1 can of tomato soup, and a can of kidney beans. Needless to say, one bowl was enough! All 3 of my sons learned to cook. Thank you for your videos--------this ia about the 25th one I've watched. I found your channel this month 10/23.
My father made the best chili i ever ate. He is gone now and i miss him greatly. I kept trying to make his chili and i could not get it to taste the same. I finely asked him what in the world i was doing wrong. He said are you using a lot of celery. I had not been adding any.🤦 He said that was his secret. I tried it and it was amazing. If you have never used celery in your chili just try it once. You will not believe the difference. We also use kidney beans. And we dont rinse them. The juice in there helps to thicken the chili. I have never used sugar. That is something i will have to try. Thank you for your recipe. Your channel is my absolute favorite.😊❤❤
I think aside from browning the ground beef I’ll be throwing this in a crockpot pot and let it marry all day long 😁…. Yum…. I love leftovers & also get so annoyed when people don’t scrape the bowls clean 🤨🤨🤨🤨😂😂😂
My husband puts brown sugar in our chili, it is absolutely amazing! You should try it instead of regular sugar. With a side of honey butter corn bread. Ughh now he is gonna have to make up a big pot, especially since the weather is going to be nice this weekend. Might have to make us a pot over our camp fire, this weekend will be perfect time for camping and chili here in Kentucky!
Thanks Tom and Melissa for the great recipe. This is so simple to do and is so good that it will help the wallet and the body at the same time. It's a long way from starvation with this awesome recipe. Stay safe, Fred.
I lover your videos, the way you slowly tell us what we need to cook, You and your wife does a great job and i get all the ingredients watching once instead of watching over and over, so thank you so much for doing this slowly so ones like myself can follow you.
We really appreciate your kind words. You have no idea how much that means to us and encourages us. Tom is on this channel as he was in the classroom. He's always been a wonderful teacher.
Tom & Melissa, the recipe is "WOW"! I just found your "Dad's Hot Dog sauce earlier today! Wrote both down for MY family recipe book-to be passed down to my kids and then theirs. Tom you have handsome hand writing, is that yours on the frozen bag? I'm a lefty like you, and, youngest of 7 kids in my family. I'm gonna be glomming on a few more of your recipes and saying that they are my own. I'm trying to create some traditions in my family since I was pushed out of my family by 6 years old. My mom is a German girl-came from the old country in Europe in 1952 at 17 years old. Always shoved it on my face "that her heritage is NONE OF MY BUSINESS! I've lost heir-loomed items because of this. Got told(at 27 years old) I'm not allowed to get married nor have kids because she doesn't want any grandkids from me. Sorry for unloading my heart on you, your personality shows you to be "easy to trust". I won't share anything else unless you ask to know something else about me. I'm 58 years young. Doug🐻🦅😎👍🥺🤓
Hello Doug. You sure have a sad story but you’re working hard to overcome that. Good for you! Tom is third-generation left-handed. But, neither of our children are. We appreciate that you are watching our videos and sharing them with your family. We hope you find many more on our channel to enjoy.
@@comesitatmytable9044 I am the first lefty in the family on both sides-at least I'm in my right mind!🤭 My family has no clue that I've been raising these boys since I was 22 years old, I have never bad mouthed about my family to my boys, I think they can tell something bad happened in my youth, that's why they don't my family their "relatives". I've asked them to explain to me what is the cause of their "coolness", they said "they don't want you-they don't get us"! I don't mean to be such a "Debbie Downer", I am still hurting for a "family" where I'm accepted for me. Doug, still catching your recipe videos to pad my cook-book with some awesome dishes!👍 Thanks for your understanding. Doug😁😇🧸🤓
Love this chli, just made it. Waiting for it to cook and it smells wonderful! I did add green pepper to mine and some stewed tomatoes with hot salsa, I didn't have Rotella sauce. Thank you Tom & Melissa, love you both. Keep these recipes coming in. Have a Blessed day❤😊
I make chili usually starting in October until February or March (if we're lucky) here in South Carolina. I hope this year is a longer winter because it's been just hotter than heck this summer!
I love a good chili i always cook it for get togethers bc its easy i also add onions bell peppers and jalipenos. I love me a spicy hot chili to warm me up in the fall/winter
My brother-in-law wants peanut butter sandwiches on white bread like they had at school (with butter and corn syrup in there). Or cinnamon rolls, like they did at one of the schools I taught for.
I so glad I found you, so many recipe's fast and easy for big crowd. Can't stop watching your video's. Now I have to write all down. Thanks for the great recipe's Keep going.
That looks soooooo good! I know you are a great cook Tom. I am a cook and baker. I have watched a lot of your video’s I really enjoy them.. continue cooking and I will be watching. 😋
Oh my goodness! I love chili and this recipe looks amazing! It will go very well with this. I have to add the ingredients to this week’s grocery order. Thank you for sharing this. 👩🏼🍳
I don’t understand why some people don’t like leftovers particularly chilies, stews, and soups
They’re always better the second or third day
also spaghetti
My husband always put cumin in his chili. The sugar cuts the acid in the tomatoes and makes it easier on digestive system. Good job
Thank you! We are very happy to have you watching our channel.
I do too, love that spice!
The chili seasoning he used (from McCormicks) has cumin in it.
I agree that the sugar will cut the acid from the tomatoes. I add sugar to my spaghetti sauce also.
To cook ground meat into fine pieces add a couple cups of water....it makes it easier to cook. When done drain off water with the fat.
We agree! We love to enjoy a meal twice!
Thank you so much for sharing your family recipes, for sharing “come sit at my table”. America needs more of this, God Bless , NY
Thank you so much for the kind words! We appreciate you watching our channel.

Your chili looks so amazing. I am for the sugar in it. It also drives me nuts when they don't scrape the bowl lol. Thank you so much.
I agree, my Mother taught me that you cleaned the bowls
First of all your chili looks delicious. Im from Texas and we add a whole lot more chili powder and cumin, crushed garlic or garlic powder and onions along with the tomato sauce. Most Texans don’t put beans in their chili but I was also taught to cook by a father who was a fine cook (and was a yankee from New York) and he put beans in our chili. Chili has lots of personality around our great country! Thank you for the feedback and for watching our video.
I'm from Texas & I like beans in my chili too. If you have a lot of mouths to feed it really stretches the chili.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your recipes. I just found this one and did not realize this was your first. I can’t count the number that I have copied, made, and passed on. We are always excited to see someone has watched our very first video ever. Around here, we say fall is " chilli weather."

I really like the idea of the sugar. Sweet and spicy works really well
After working in a restaurant, I learned not to waste anything in the kitchen

I thought grandma Pyle always said waste not want not 😂 Gomer’s granny. Love this recipe!!! Looks delicious 😋
The proverb itself is traced back to Benjamin Franklin, but it is possible that Grandma Pyle quoted it!
@@comesitatmytable9044 That makes sense. Ole Ben was a genius 😊
I use brown sugar and it does add so much flavor to the chili. For the 3 lbs of meat you are using , I would use 2 cans of kidney beans.
That’s the great thing about cooking. Everybody can make it to their own taste. We are not fans of kidney beans, but we love it with the chili beans. Thank you very much for watching our video. We appreciate it.

Yes! Thank you for watching. We do appreciate it!
This chili looks delicious and glad it has sauce and not dry as other recipes. 👌
Cornbread is great with chili!
There are so many excellent foods to pair with chili. Cornbread is at the top of the list! We also like PB&J, pimento cheese and firecrackers!
Tom, I find that when I use my meat chopping tool like the one you have, I keep using it even once the meat gets brown. It helps to get the meat off that tool.

(That is all I can figure)
Okay!
LOL
Oh, Melissa!
I am so glad I found you two, everything done so far is too impressive! Thanks so much!
Can you tell the cinnamon is in there by taste, or just the richness? I've always wanted to try it, but don't want to ruin a whole batch.
Interesting!
My big brother use to make his chili with "cinnamon" in it like skyline n it was yummy.
That thick sauce has the seasoning. I never drain chili beans.
It’s really about personal taste. We don’t care for the taste of the sauce so we drain them.
Thank you for watching our video. We really appreciate it.
Run the beans under water and see what happens, you might change your mind. There's a reason why you should drain canned beans.
I drain and wash pinto beans but don’t chili beans.
I just found your channel yesterday and I so enjoy your videos. It feels as if I'm at a neighbors house❤
I can't imagine draining them - the sauce is so good and helps give the chili it's chili flavor!
Thank you so much for watching our very first video and all the encouraging words! We really do appreciate it.
I'm with you. It ain't chili without the beans!
I have trouble with 3 pounds of meat to 1 can of beans! My hubs would love that, as he is not a big bean fan, but beans stretch the meat!😂
Love, love, love your, cooking show. And the way you explain how much food and each ingredient. Your excellent at what you do, thank you so much. Blessings to you and Melissa. Love your family stories also.
I adore your videos and so enjoy watching you prepare your recipes. Keep up the great work guys!!😊
Cooked this today and I have to say this was the best Chili I have eaten! My husband went back for 2nds. It is 5 stars ⭐️ Eating again tomorrow!!!!
We’re so glad you made this and enjoyed it. Thank you so much for letting us know!
Corn bread is really good with Chilli ... Your recipe sounds good and yummy ! 😊😋 Nothing like a good bowl of Chilli during the Fall and Winter Seasons ! 😊😋🥰
My all-time favorites... chili and cornbread... not sweet. Thank you so very much for "Come sit at my Table.
I have adjusted my chili recipe over the years. I love to learn other recipes and try variations to see if I like better. Looking forward to trying yours. Looks yummy 😋
I just discovered your channel
This is the 3rd recipe I've found.
Made the the Derby pie a few days ago &
my family loved it.
Won't be making the Chili until it cools off here. I'm so ready for fall. Which is my favorite time of year.
We live in Oklahoma & the heat is killing us right now. Anyway
thanks so much for the recipe.
You are very welcome. Chili was our very first recipe on our channel. It's always exciting for us to see someone has watched it. Have a great evening!
@@comesitatmytable9044 I’ll keep you posted!
That’s what I like, soupy chili. I will definitely be making this. Thank you, Tom
Great recipe! Thank you. I always put a can of drained whole corn niblets in my chili. So good! Also, I make my chili much thicker.
Just read your comments and ask you how do you make the chili thicker?
I think I prefer my chili thicker but not sure how to do it?
You can use a little bit less tomato juice and/or just let the finished chili simmer over low heat for an hour or two (or until it gets as thick as you would like it.)
I would just simmer mine down, I think. If you’re reducing the amount of tomato juice, you’re also reducing the amount of flavour.
@@LauraMacMillan-cp9yk
Thank you. Will try that. 😊
You could make a paste out of a little water and corn starch (or Masa) and stir that in to thicken stews or chili.
I always use green bell pepper too but looks great, pretty much how i do it.
The tastiest chili sauce I ever made was then ruined by adding canned beans not rinsed. Flavor? No.
It’s really a matter of taste preference. We just don’t care for that flavor.
@lynmichael7476
I always add a green bell pepper to my chili but I've never tried celery before. That sounds delicious I think I will try that I do love the smell of salt sauted celery and onions my favorite Kitchen scent.
I've never heard of anyone putting celery in their chili but there's always a 1st Sounds yummy
Also I've never heard of someone draining "chili" beans Only kidney beans 🙈
To each their own I guess!
I never ever drain my chili beans tho..... That just wouldn't make sense Because it's got the chili flavor in it but I rarely use chili beans I I always use different variety of beans.
Bt like i said...."to each their own" 🤷
I've never ever added sugar to my chili but that sounds so amazing I've heard of people doing it to spaghetti but I'm definitely gonna try it in my chili 😛
Love yr food
TOM I’ve been watching you for a while now. I’m glad I’m seeing your first video of chili. I enjoy your recipes.
I made this Monday 10/09/2023. WOW it is awesome.
Please add me to your list to recieve every thing you cook.
It’s absolutely delicious, we all love it!!
Left over chili and stew are my two favorite breakfasts. As you say always better one or two or three days down the road. Truly love your channel.
Thanks for your nice message! We appreciate you watching.
I use brown sugar in my chili and spaghetti sauce too.
RIGHT..NEVER DRAIN THE BEANS..MUCH FLAVOR IN THAT SAUCE.
Wonderful recipe, my new favorite chili! Thank you for sharing 😊
I am still watching your videos ❤Hopefully I can get through all 10 months worth of videos ❤ I like the fact, that the ingredients that you use, are things that are in our kitchen already, simple ingredients ❤ God Bless and stay safe ❤ Hugs from Roswell, New Mexico ❤
You both are a beautiful, lovely couple ❤
Thank you so much for the kind comments. We appreciate your support and encouragement. It’s so nice to have you watching from New Mexico!
I'm making your sweet, and heat chili, now!!! It is delicious. I added a scant more sugar in mine. It is delicious!!! Thank you, tom, and melissa!!! Delish!!!, ohio.
So glad to hear you made it tonight. We love it, especially when the temperatures drop!
@davemeiser2999
Hi....im in Ohio too!
Been watching for a while now and love all your recipes. So glad to have come across this one. Thank you for welcoming us into your home.
We appreciate you sharing your dad’s secret. We really appreciate you watching our channel!
Thank you for watching! We appreciate it!
Do you use salted or unsalted butter?
Another wonderful recipe. Wonderful.
I love chunky hamburger meat! In chili, you’ve got beans, chunky tomatoes, lots of texture which makes chili taste better!!
Thank you for watching our video and for the feedback. We love to hear from people who enjoy food like we do.
It's good with soy mince too. 😊
Enjoy your show very informative
I have one of those Pampered Chef choppers and lots of other stuff. Love it.
We enjoy the Pampered Chef’s products as well. Thank you for watching our video. We really appreciate it.
All the dishes you make look so delicious & they're simple to make. 😊
I'm going to try this tonight. Been thinking of what to make for supper, and now I know what I'm fixing. Thank y'all.
Love the tip with the hamburger! Always enjoy the stories!! Looks delicious 😋
Yummy, i love chili. Thanks for showing this.
I think aside from browning the ground beef I’ll be throwing this in a crockpot pot and let it marry all day long 😁…. Yum…. I love leftovers & also get so annoyed when people don’t scrape the bowls clean 🤨🤨🤨🤨😂😂😂
I put sugar in any tomato sauce dish. My Grandma made it that way. It's great.
We always look forward to fall in Kentucky. (Winter, not so much.) We hope you enjoy this recipe. And happy camping!
I just recently discovered your channel and have enjoyed binge watching. Keep on being you.
I agree soups and stews always taste better the second day cuz all that melts in there together😊
Have a Blessed day❤😊
Yes! Drives me crazy when people don't scrape it all out!
I totally agree with you about folks who do not scrape bowls well! Drives me crazy!! Such a waste!!
I have to make this when it’s a little cooler here in Florida. You look like my father and I enjoy the memories of cooking for him
We think this is a perfect fall meal. We have a local festival called Court Day each October and it's tradition for us to make chili for that.
I make chili usually starting in October until February or March (if we're lucky) here in South Carolina. I hope this year is a longer winter because it's been just hotter than heck this summer!
I think of Chili all year, love Chili and Chili recipes.
Yesssss!
I luv trying diff recipes!
Never heard of sugar in chilie. I'm going to try it and see if the extra calories are worth adding it. 🎉 Thank you for sharing...❤😊
So so glad yall made this channel ❤ My favorite cooking 🥘 channel 👊😎
I love the flavor it gives the chilli.

Oh my goodness! I love chili and this recipe looks amazing! It will go very well with this. I have to add the ingredients to this week’s grocery order. Thank you for sharing this. 👩🏼🍳
So pleased that you made the decision to produce instructional cooking videos. I’ve watched several of your videos and love them! ❤
Glad you put all the onions in.
I love the look of this recipe but I like more chili beans. Can’t wait to try this. Thanks.
