Love the videos and explanations of the system, I am a Journeyman in Vancouver and never really had the opportunity to do hydronic systems like this, only the most basic. Keep up the good work!
James, another beautiful job ,your company raise the bar on this one , One of the most professional soldering jobs I have ever seen . when people say you cant find good help any more !!! I would say they never met Kevin & Jesse . Thanks for taking the time to make this Video Pete M
Been working on a building site on and off for last 12 months. I've got pally with this Chinese guy called Kim (labourer/novice plumber)good worker so been giving him work. Job finished last week, and good to his word he took me to China Town at weekend for a meal with his family. Was pretty drunk and I said to him 'do you not get pissed off with the site lads saying all Chinese look the same?'. And he replied, 'I've absolutely not idea what your are taking about, I'm the waiter'.
Very nice job. I would have done two thing differently. I woulld have painted the plywood with a latex grey floor paint so future repairs and maintenance could be easily cleaned and not soaked into the wood. I would have also used a variable speed Alpha pump to maintain consistent flow though zone valves. Other than that it is a beautiful job. Personally I don't care for combi boilers because the minimum firing rate is based on input which is always higher for domestic leaving you with a high minimum firing rate for your outdoor reset and increases cycling.
I work for a Supply House. NTI is my boiler of choice. Most of their products are manufactured in New Brunswick. But I cannot knock Navien for all the reasons you mentioned. Great tech support and service. Using their manifold is a no brainer too. It eliminates any question on whether primary was installed properly. I have a couple questions. I notice you like the Honeywell zone valves. What is your opinion of the Taco Sentry Zone Valves? Much less power consumption with Sentry. Also, have you ever used an Alpha CH circulator with the zone valves and if so, what is your verdict on system performance? One question I have about all these manufacturer’s primary manifolds is that they do not follow the rules of closely spaced tees, and yet if you chose to not use their manifold, you are suppose to follow the rules.
How big is the house? How much more for the Tekmar than a Taco, and why the Tekmar? Why is there a vent on the expansion tank bracket at that location? You buried the copper for 2 feet and then left it exposed the rest of the way up? How does this help, and why do you think it looks better? What would it cost the customer to get to one of the buried copper returns? Why so many service valves? It looks like you'd need to double the circulator size just to allow for the service valves. It seems like you mention serviceability several times, but you don't mention that each of your "adds" increases the likelihood of servicing. What is the filter connected to? It almost looks like it's filtering the Hydronics, if so, why would there be iron filings? Why would it even need to be filtered? If it's on the potable water, why not go with a non-Navien filter that's bigger, customer serviceable, doesn't need to be serviced so often, and costs half as much but does exactly the same thing? You did all that copper, but you had to buy the manifold from Navien? Wouldn't that have been in the $350-$450 range for something that costs almost nothing to make? How often is the condensate going to need to be changed? Can the homeowner do something that simple or is that something that you need to come out to fill every 4-5 months? Just wondering..
More great work. Do you prefer soldering over pro-press? Do you know of any problems with pro-press seal leaking due to age/poor water chemistry/heating up cooling down etc?
Pro press has my disadvantages then advantages I have used both and am just no sold on pro press one mistake and you have to cut out a lot and someone it’s easy to fix or repair
Very very Nice! Fantastic to see a crew that loves their work. Definitely shows in the results! True craftsmanship. How do you like the Navien Firetube?
People gush over the beautiful copper piping. The practical matter is you want to cover them up with pipe insulation. This space will be unbearably hot with the way they laid bare. I installed as a DIY a few times now, and I also prefer to keep the system as simple as possible.
I'm very impressed with your work and educational video's. I'm a gas Tech 2 and taking refrigeration courses.
plywood is kindle for a fire waiting to happen.
Wires piping and exhaust are visually colorful in my humble opinion. Your work is top notch
It never gets so hot to start a fire, the book of destructions says its ok.
SOLID GOLD WORK- LOVE THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL. EXCELLENT JOB. THATS HOW ITS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE

A very educated review I love it
I like the literature holder with your company sticker on it. Nice simple touch. I'm going to start doing that.
It’s the little things that set you apart from your competition
This is like a 15000$ system set up to look and operate so cleanly

Awesome video. Why do you still sweet rather than press?
I get the clean look and looks great but not maintenance friendly if you have a leak behind that wall, just curious why you guys take that approach
Panels are easy to disassemble

I was going to say that you guys sure do use a lot of plywood!
Great install 👌. Are you required to have a condensate neutralizer off your drain?
In this situation no ...but all new construction yes or cast or copper underground piping
For 60$USD it seems worth it..even with PVC drains. Plus it is an extra annual preventative maintenance check.
Do you have any installs with multipule Zones (manifolds) and even more circuits? for example 4 manifolds with 7 circuits...
I love it! Do you have any pictures online of some of your work?
There is a Instagram channel called canuck mechanical ...and we do have our website you can check out
How many square feet is the house ?

I think all boilers should be fire tubes ...for longevity and durability.... as the old saying goes you get what you pay for
Exactly what I needed, Thank you
Great Job Guys 👏👏👍
I still don’t understand why my company doesn’t install the domestic magnet on the rinnai we install.
What’s the usual price to get this installed

Good work.
Nice work, horrible boiler choice
