Hey Marc, Fantastic work! I am not a plumber..but I can sure appreciate a job well done. I get a good feeling knowing my work is done right...even if it is covered with finish materials.
petecsm1 thanks for the comment I really appreciate it. I love finishing a job stepping back and saying I did that and am proud. I cant understand how some contractors charge so much and dont care what there installs look like. I can honestly say I under bid this job by a lot lost money, but I still would never cut corners or cost.
Glad you put the check valve on the boiler makeup feed water line. Many just rely on the pressure reducing valve to do that job thinking that would meet the requirement. Nope, it does not. Looks good!
Pete M thanks! Yeah I take pride in my work. It often gets me in some trouble. I often take it to far and it cost me money, but I can’t stand anything sloppy. If someone is paying me to perform a service I make sure they get more than expected and I make sure I don’t have to come back and do something again. I get paid to do it once not twice. I also treat my work like I choose my Drs. I want a Dr. who has a proven track record. It’s been years since I Put up any videos, but I have been considering throwing a few back up one of these days.
Very nice install, I use TT myself, interested in Viessmann too but no wholesale houses in my area deal with them, wish I could get the people I work for to appreciate all the work that goes into these jobs, most aren't willing to pay for quality work and the time it takes to do a professional looking job; again, awesome work
Hey Marc !!! Marc I worked for a Major plumbing company here years ago , we did a Boiler tear out , they said Fritz go grab the Pump , OK easy , my Back still goes into Spasms thinking about that !!! LOL ... I dropped it and this Orange Funk stained everything !!! LOL ... You got to let the Plumbers and HVAC guys in First !!! Marc i'll say again OUTSTANDING Install Brother !!! Bikowsky Plumbing Rules !!! Love the Valves & Labeling too !!! Great Video Marc , lookin Forward to more !!!
Marc, great job, someone that comes close to my caliber of work. Deserving of my input and expertise! The only thing I could recommend for maximum efficiency would be to install delta t pumps (Taco Viridian). Just a little more money than yor 15-58 in the grand scheme. If you haven't used these yet they work like a dream!I like Lochinvar above the prestige, personal preference though, same design basically except with Lochinvar, you get Con X Us which allows you to monitor/manage the pump from your smart device. Check this out too!
I'm wondering about the electrical being below the water in this way. Should you have to replace a pump when you take it apart the water drips down on the electrical..
nice one of the cleaner setups I've seen. Would like to see schematic so i know what i need to source out. Which is better tank or tankless? and does it need to be separate or can the house hot water be connected with the system ?
Thanks @Jason T. Tankless is great, but if you need a serious amount of hot water you might want to consider a indirect tank. Yup you can buy a combo boiler/domestic this particular person was going to add a outdoor wood boiler the next year so he wanted a separate domestic tankless. Not what I wanted to do but it's what he wanted.
Good work! Was this a Natural Gas or LP system? I have a 250 that needs a new heat exchanger. Its almost better to buy a hole new boiler than to replace the heat exchanger. I'm still deciding.
That boiler could handle probably up to 3500 square feet. That's if its new construction. There are different size boilers for different loads. It just depends on the heat loss calculations.
I have to install 8 zones 2100 sq ft, I'm thinking about going with 2 navien combis but I'm nervous about short cycling because some of the zones are really small like 50sq ft
Yeah it will short cycle and you don't really want that. In that case you would want to install a hydraulic separator/buffer tank. Lochinvar makes some very nice buffer tanks and hydraulic separators combos.
hey marc... nice clean install!! Dont see a lot of guys taking the time to provide a quality installation. I take the same approach to boiler installs.... install it as if your going to be the one coming back to service it... the more shut offs and isolation valves the better!!!... My only critiques for you would be .... stay away from Navien!!! ... a friend of mine is a local Navien rep and he is even considering getting away from them.... i would have done a Triangle Tube Smart tank for the domestic hot water... i personally think indirects are the way to go.... probly would have been cheaper for the homeowner as well... and the only thing you did that i wouldnt have was the individual electrical switches for each pump... just thought it was a little uneccessary (no offense).... and i would definately say that Triangle Tube Boilers are the best!... Went to a training seminar at Viessman in RI and liked their product but had a lot of issues with their 200 series boiler and had to have a rep out several times... Viessman is a good quality product its just not homeowner friendly.... Have to say i really like your use of your label maker!!!.... Great job
Looking at installing one of these in a chilled water system to convert to a dual temp loop. Trying to decide between this, Slant fin CHS, or Lochinvar WHN. Any experience with the other two brands? Beautiful install BTW. The little touches at the end go a long ways towards a great install.
Nice work!! My work is very similar to yours, however it seems most folks would rather go with the cheap guy in town who doesn't care what happens after his tail-lights are gone....
Yeah you've got that right. Drives me nuts, but most home owners don't know a good job from a bad job. They just trust that when the job is done they have heat. I loose many bids to guys that come and go. I always let people know going into a bid if they are looking for the cheap guy then its nit me. I'm not the most expensive guy. but definitely not going to be the low bidder.
Could you explain how the closely spaced "T's" work, and why does the water flow in the correct direction. I know that it is a recommended layout, but I just don't understand how the water know which way to flow?
I will send u a message when I get a few min. To explain it. It's easy to understand. It's basic hydraulic separation Plus everything flow controls so water can only go one way. Think of it like electricity and it flows in the path of less resistance. I'll talk in detail later. I'll also talk in layman's terms. Thanks for watching.
I think that's a install second to none. Only comment I would make is the CSST will cause issues with the Triangle tube and the Navien. Being that they are both modulating burners... If you didn't install it, fair enough. The turbulence created inside the CSST will be a issue, when the units modulate up to high fire. Essentially choking off the units of fuel. The inside diameter of 3/4" CSST is not actually the same size as 3/4" steel pipe. Just saying it may save you a service visit down the road on ignition failure for either unit. Excellent install. The trade needs more examples of tradespeople who take pride in their work.
Should have used a LLH but just went with the manufacturers set up using closely spaced Tees. The Nevian water heater has been a nightmare. The new Nevians are much better
Jay sorry wrong person. Yeah I've yet to have that issue with any units, but they are all propane so maybe it's different with natural gas. I'm not sure because all of the natural gas installs I've done require black iron (town code). Thank you though. I will consider that in the future.
Looks really great! Have you had any issues with your Triangle Tube Prestige? I put in a Triangle Tube Prestiege Solo 110, and 5 years and 6 months replaced ignighter, gas valve, and now they say I need a circuit board..can you give my your feedback - I would have hired you to do my project Thanks
Dan Fortune hi thanks for the compliment. I haven’t had any problems with any triangle tube boiler. I actually have never replace a single part on Amy triangle tube boiler. I have many out too. It’s a bit strange your having issues with it. I would call TT directly and let them know what kind of problems your having.
This was a very good video!! After you get a couple hundred views you will be able to use google analytics to see how well people liked your video. so make sure that you sign up for google analytics!! I would love to learn how to install a system like that but we dont have a lot of boilers around here. Keep them coming!!
Nice work. I'm building my first house putting in a Navian heat only. I have a 24x36 radiant heat slab with a 12x14 radiant heat addition. I'm trying to put a parts list together it will be two zones. Can you help me. I will email you Catskill install subject matter.
slick job chap, sound like michael keaton at times. First off labels are thee shit, as apprentice nice to see people take the time to do so, and looks more professional even if its just for the customer. secondly, primo execution on the piping only thing i think i could add is one of the bigger cross hydraulic separators might not matter in this instance.
How long did this job take to finish. How much did it cost? You would never get a bid job. switches to every pump is unnecessary. valves on both sides of pump is unnecessary. labeling every wire is unnecessary. you keep saying how simple the job is but you made it much more complex than it needed to be.
Ha I bid this job. I did it for 16,000. Switches yeah not necessarily needed but why not. Labeling wires saves the next guy a ton of guessing. I'm not servicing this because its a few towns away. They just called me to bid it. I was low bidder. Oh and isolation valves on both sides is the way its done. Those are flanges with built in valves. Its the norm unless your a dinosaur.
Marc Bikowsky Your customer got the bargain of the century. If I showed up for a repair, I'd know just what to do and you'd make ME money. EZ. I have never ever ever ever ever seen good work when I go out to bid jobs. Ever. Well, maybe once, but it was old work from the 50s. That's the last time workmen did good work, imo. BTW, I hear lots of trash about Naviens, but the new simple boilers are intriguing. At that price point, it's tempting... (Navien 55 NHB costs only $1500).
Zombie yes around 23k that included all the heat fin and tubing for the whole house plus unit heater in garage. Jim of course there r flow controls in each pump.
I called this guys to replace my boiler heater. They gave me a price of $8700 for Navien NHB 150 with installation. I live in NY. Do you think the quote is reasonable? I just want to knwo your opinion. Bytheway, I like your video.
They gave me a quote of 8800 CDN$ after all federal grants for a Lochinvar KHN200 with 6 zone taco relay and expansion tank and a NG line going to my BBQ (about 10 ft.) , wadda ya think?
...let down. I really hope the TT stands up much better then the Navien did. You couldn't pay me to take one of theose units again. Customer service has been horrid too. Anyhow, your work speaks for itself, I hope people recognize the value you bring to your installs ad you get lots of work. Beware the Naviens! Why didn't you go with just the TT prestige for DHW and Space heating?
Hey Charles thank you for the comment!! I really get into my work. I supply top notch equipment so Its very important to me to do a nice install. I'm only around a hour and fifteen from Amsterdam. My neighbor is from Amsterdam so he is always going back there to see his mom. His name is Jim Nicholas. Anyway this video is a triangle tube, but I install Viessmann most of the time. They are a much nicer boiler. If your interested call me anytime. 315-824-0116 email: bikowskyplumbing@gmail.com
Tradesman like you are hard to find. You obviously take serious pride in your work. awsome job.
How true it is , nice to see someone else with the mind of unions and shut off valves for the next service guy fantastic job great workmanship
UNION? OH HAHAHAH LMFAO
Hey Marc, Fantastic work! I am not a plumber..but I can sure appreciate a job well done. I get a good feeling knowing my work is done right...even if it is covered with finish materials.
You are a credit to your Profession. Your pride in your work shows.. Great Job!!
That's some impressive plumbing work👍very neat and coordinated! looks like you value your trade very well.
You are an artist. My boiler guy died some time ago and I haven't seen a job this nice since him.
Thanks. Really appreciate that. I hate sloppy work that's all
petecsm1 thanks for the comment I really appreciate it. I love finishing a job stepping back and saying I did that and am proud. Marc, great work a real craftsman, it is a pleasure to view this type of work. Keep posting videos. Thanks
Marc you did and amazing job you are a true professional (unbelievable attention to detail ) It would be a privilege to work with you ...

Thanks dude. Sorry it took me a year to say thanks.
What is your thinking of using pumps for zone control versus zone valves?Nice workmanship,
Nice work Marc ......you know your boilers......I work in Rochester.....and there are only a few of us left with this quailtyof work
Hey Marc !!!
Great job buddy... The one little thing they'll say, is a think you should a used 3/4 PVC and draining the the tankless water heater.
A customer is very lucky to have found you.
Very nice job, like to see the polishing of the copper pipe .
nice to see job done right .I hope more people tucked pride in their work .
Thank a bunch

Rob Mitch everything is isolated so changing something doesn’t spill a bunch of water. It’s not a problem unless you don’t isolate something.
nice one of the cleaner setups I've seen. Would like to see schematic so i know what i need to source out. Which is better tank or tankless? and does it need to be separate or can the house hot water be connected with the system ?

Good work! Was this a Natural Gas or LP system? I have a 250 that needs a new heat exchanger. Its almost better to buy a hole new boiler than to replace the heat exchanger. I'm still deciding.
This is a very artful install. where did you buy the pipe clips that are mounted on the meta; cross bars. Thanks from chilly Philly.
Beautiful work, how many square feet of radiant flooring can that boiler handle?

have you ever used one of these units with a indirect water tank?
Yes. 90% of them I do involve a indirect water heater
Really nice job. Why didn't you use the boiler for domestic hot water? I believe those boilers could do both? Thanks
Yeah they didn't want a combi. Couldn't talk them into it.
If I saw it right, is your backflow downstream of PRV?
hey marc... nice clean install!! Dont see a lot of guys taking the time to provide a quality installation. beautiful work I am impressed with yor work.
Are there check valves before each pump?
No. Check valves are in the pumps.
How much did that job cost
How long did it take to complete this job? I respect your attention to detail! Nicely done!
Now that is having pride in your work👍🏻
This really is a beautiful work of art tho so keep up the great work buddy...

No reason. Just a over killer. It didn't cost them any extra I just use disconnects on ever pump so a homeowner can shut a pump down if needed.
Hi,
Where did you get these channels(to manage copper pipes) from?
- Oscar
Very nice work! I also share your passion...

SWEET! wish mine looked like that.
Wow, that is great work! Where are you out of? #TIACREW
Your a beast. What did you charge for that job, 25k?
16,0000
To cheap. I work alone so I still made some money.
AWESOME work!
Thanks.
Marc.. Can you send me you contact.. Not sure if you would be up to do a project in Westchester County?
Very nice work,

Sounds like a plumbing version of Mike Holmes
this guy wanted to charge me 33750.00 for navien combi radiant job for 1400 sqft house. hahahahahahaaa.
What guy? Me?
That's crazy high. Wasn't me. Plus won't use Nevian again.
No not you.
I was watching your video untill you used the GD word not good
Have you seen other you
