Thanks for the tour. Lost my 1960s Boiler this past week (2021). Jacket finally gave up the ghost and is leaking at a section joint. The HVAC contractor spoke with me two days ago (Today is Sunday). I trust they will call tomorrow as we are living with space heaters but the Outside temp is 30F for now. The guy looked at ours and explained the options. These Condensing ones look promising.
@@PipeDoctor i know it's a pretty general question and the a lot of variables but what is the ball park on a combi for the until and install; single zone? Are we talking $10K or $20K or somewhere in the middle? Again, just curious on a ball park
Hi great video. Why are all the installs I see from the Eastern USA use a pump for each zone? No zone valves? I'm in western Canada and the winter is much milder, I'm guessing that why...
congratulations for the beautiful work, your channel is wonderful. would it be possible to send me the connection diagram of the pumps, and thermostat with tanklless?
Hi Mike on the supply loop that first circulator is piped part of the primary when on, does it allow for any other zones down stream the appropriate gpm Just curious
Hey Mike Jim Downey originally from Valley Stream sorry to hear your problems with navy on but it seems like their temperatures are too high when they put the tip switch to 180° it’s not capable of handling the heat and that’s what’s causing the gasket and the plastic to fail this all comes to faulty construction because it’s not made to run at 180° inside that container with the electronics And and gasket or not made for those high temperatures and the Flu gases Good luck love your channel Jim Downey HVAC 30 years in the business
Hey, I have 4 zones with circulators, can I use just a 4 zone switching relay? Not use any of the internal hook ups? Just use one of the zones inside the navien to communicate with the switching relay? Thanks!
How are the Rinnai tankless boilers?? Specifically the I- Series i150SN I am considering putting this unit to replace a 120k BTu Crown boiler any input would be greatly appreciated
What does something like this cost? I am in five towns just wondering. I have radiant heat 14 zones but burnham boiler . I wanted to switch to navian and re do the loops and also get the hot water heater maybe like a combi.
@@PipeDoctor No I am not there is no low loss header that silver thing below boiler is not a low loss header even if it was it is to small for all those zones, with out one the pumps will work against each other and the boiler flow rate will not be correct , modulation will be out and boiler will not be effecient. A low los header has the primary flow and return from boiler going into it, then the flow to the pumped zones and return come into the opposite side of the low loss header, if I was you I would type into computer search low loss header and find out what one is , why you need one and how it works . Your pipe work is exellent .
im an apprentice, so if i were to follow the installers guidelines as to how to pipe the system in i should have no problems? do you ever find that the installers manual is not the best way to get it done? my boss refuses to teach so were forced to study these things on our own.
@@stevestadterman9270 yes more pumps more energy, im in ontario canada and i dont see alot of that type of set up with rads I put infloor off my manifold and 1 pump to do the manifold, it is only for basement slab heat and i also always use a furnace as well so if pump fails customer still has heat.
What’s the sis of the zone and how far is it from the boiler ? I am being told that for 1 zone that covers 1200 sq ft apartment 1 floor above the boiler would need a 30 gpm pump and more expensive install , while a floor with 2 zones covering 600 sq ft each is ok with taco 15. What’s your thought ?
"Navien, listen, they make great products..., as long as your installing contractor installs it properly". That didn't age too well, did it? Now all your video show how S these boilers are as least per your allegations. I have no experience with Navien. They look to me a rebadged boilers made by Korean or Japanese. I like both Korean and Japanese just to be clear. I am extremely impressed with my new Laars FT199 which is made by Kiturami of S Korea.

We do lots of Navien installs. No problems as long as they like you say are piped the way Navien wants them done.

Hi. I see you didn't use a pressure reducing valve. Is that not necessary?? And how do you bleed the system??
Nice job I like to put purge tees on the return side I noticed you have them on the supply side on the circulators?
congratulations for the beautiful work, your channel is wonderful. would it be possible to send me the connection diagram of the pumps, and thermostat with tanklless?
You are the best👍👍👍
hi so does five zones mean five thermostats? and do you use nest or that style thermostats with these boilers ?
How many bathrooms can this combi boiler supply? I see most combi boilers can only supply houses up to 2.5 bathrooms
Beautiful piping job! Will there be mixing valves for the radiant zones?
Hi Mike on the supply loop that first circulator is piped part of the primary when on, does it allow for any other zones down stream the appropriate gpm Just curious
Did this unit service the domestic hot water too? Or did you have a separate hot water heater?
Looks Great

I don’t have any feedback on Rinnai
Where do I connect thermostat wire? My house has only 1 zone, i used one zone from machine, I didn’t put taco, but where do I put my thermostat wire

Clean work Mikey nice 👍
what size copper was used in this build, for the manifolds and to supply each pump?
1-1/4” and 3/4” zones
Why no low loss header ? it will work better with one and it will be more efficent

Do you need to be a journeyman plumber to be able to install a boiler?
looks great!! very clean
How does one learn this cabling stuff ? Any books is this considered electronics cabling or electrical cabling ?
Why did you decide to use 3-way valves after every pump?

Looks neat!
I tough you don't utilize the boiler feed on Navien's system, so what happened here?
How hard it will be to bleed the system since you don't use an external feed? Is it true the unit has to be on, gas valve off in order to do this?
why a pump for each zone, if it had a manifold with actuators you would only need 1 circulator would you not?
@@PipeDoctor do you find advantages to that, is each circulator feeding radiators in that set up. For different floors or areas of the house?
@@PipeDoctor I got you now. Thanks

That should have said size, not sis
30 gpm sounds like way to much for 1200sq ft more like 3 gpm
How do you purge that with no drains above the shut off on the return?

I thought Navi’s were no good
