Thanks man.Glad to be finding a few along before cover crop time.Need some good rain, but fall is not a cooperative time for a very good rain. Not like spring.Any would help and be appreciated though.
Thanks RT.Yeah I dig that chert of choice for the BS.Thanks for the info on the plant.I threw away the tag and forgot what it wuz,but it sure does grow good and in constant bloom too.
Good finds Laner! Always enjoy your rock hunts. I was able to do the same this weekend but I only found broken stuff. Guess it beats not finding anything at all. Hope you’re able to get back out there and find more. Take care bud!
Hoping to get a few more decent rains before its off limits again, but hard rain seems hard to come by approaching fall.I agree, broken ones does beat nothing.I also understand how discouraging that can become too. Thanks for popping in and hope you have an adventurous fall/winter.
You finding blunts doesn’t surprise me one bit but what does shock me is the amount you find. I’ve only ever found maybe 3 or 4 stemmed blunts/repurposed points. Most all mine are true thumb scrapers or side scrapers made on flakes. Killer hunt tho bubba and thanks for sharing it with us. That big sandy was awesome and so was the stemmed one with that awesome flaking.
No kidding. That's how it's been around here with blunts in every place I've ever hunted since I started.I buy rikers by the case and while i've made up one 12 x 16 frame of blunts both from osg and sk, I still could use the other 22 cases if I displayed all the blunts.Thanks.Always enjoy finding BS.That diagonal flaking on the stemmer can only be one of two choices you know.:>)
For folks to tell me they never find blunts or only three to four in years of hunting, is hard for me to process.A low number of blunts for me in a single hunt is 3 to 4.:>) Good luck on the dig. You'll earn whatever you find digging.
Your lucky if you find mostly Clovis, for most collectors thats been collecting for years, doesn't have one, and if they have pieces of one they consider themselves lucky. In 35 + years I have 1 base and a reworked one.
That maybe a question we'll not find a truly accurate answer to.When I first learned that some folks don't find them, that was news to me because every where I've ever hunted they were plentiful.I've heard some folks believed they were tools for scraping, some say fire starting, some even says possibly practice tips, but I actually lean towards a term,"Bunny Busters" that a contestant on History Channels survival show,"Alone"and producers called them. They said the indigenous folks used them to harvest small game by blunt force trauma without harming the sought after meat.Amos (The contestant) shot a fox with one to scare it from camp but killing foxes was not permitted where they were.It likely wouldn't stun the fox but likely hit in the right place would stun small game or perhaps kill them without hyde or meat damage of which they sought both.Just food for though, but I think its a highly probable answer to the use of them.
Heck yeah, man 💥!! Awesome hunting, awesome finds 👊!!!!✌🍀

Some beauties brother👍🇺🇸
Appreciate it.Glad to get a few more.
A few good finds! We have a site we have been digging lately and about one out of every 5 is a hafted scraper.

Most of the ones I find are Clovis points. That's way north in Texas Panhandle. They traded a lot,too

Gotta love a sweet side notch 👍🏹
I always have. One of my favorites to find.
I’d pick through that all day long, so glad to see another round 😎😎😎
It took me about four hrs slow looking to cover the main camp.Rain will change things if it comes in time.
Hey L! I do not find any blunts at all. None. I wonder about times and what they were used for... or why where they not used here??
