I'm the new guy. I have 5 years whole foods. 1st time here and I Love this dude. Mark Hyman got me started. 4 years clean and sober. and I'm more proud of eating clean. Then again I could not sober up until I got the nutrition down. Life is good.
Summary 1. Intermittent fasting, 12 hours a day, 7pm-7am 2. Oats have fiber and anti-inflammatory substances, eat with pinch salt, fresh fruit and little plant based milk 3. Egg are good for your heart, lowers cholesterol, boil them, try with low sodium soy sauce 4. Bacon, tasty but not good for you because salt and saturated fat (old outdated info) burning bacon creates cancer causing chemicals, cook lightly in olive oil 5. Dairy is good has calcium and protein, eat low fat milk to avoid saturated fat (outdated info), has natural trans fat, pasture raised cows have omega 3s, has lactose milk sugar, helps build strong bones, estrogen weakens bones (wrong-estrogen strengthens bones). 6. Black coffee good for you but don't have with cream because locks good substances, drink coffee with plant based milk. 7. Grass-fed cheese has omega 3 FA, eating 200grams a day is good for you. 8. Yogurt is good because it has good gut bacteria, reduces all cause death, low fat yogurt has thickeners that are not good for you, eat whole plain Greek yogurt with nuts, dried fruit, seeds fresh fruit, honey. Buckwheat honey is good for you b/c has antioxidants.
One thing I do not agreed with him and you, no need to add more oil, just fry medium heat. Avoid bacon with nitrate and sugar. Costco has a good one, all in moderation
With the bacon, need to read label, can be found low in nitrate and sugar; fry at medium heat so it won burn and of curse eat in moderation, not every day, maybe once or twice a month. Sugar feed cancers cell, avoid sugar completely
Took much of what Dr. Li teaches about “food as medicine” to heart after being diagnosed with lymphoma. I’ve boiled much of what he preaches down to a few simple guidelines. The number one being, steer clear of processed foods! You truly are what you eat.
Do some research on mushrooms and capsacin. Lyphoma runs in my family, those two things and whole foods, no chemicals and 14 hours of fasting will help you within a week. p.s. Don't forget your 2,500 mg of Vitamin C daily.

I learn a great deal from Dr. Li and respect his scientific expertise a great deal. I would, however, appreciate it if he would speak about allergens to various foods he recommends, such as milk and wheat and eggs. I cannot eat any of these so concerned that I'm missing essential nutrients. What should one take to support the body that cannot handle these three food groups? Thanks in advance for your direction.
I'm 75 and now in excellent health, compared to where I was 5 years ago. I eat 2 meals a day: one at 11:30am - 4 eggs and anywhere from 5 to 8 pieces of bacon or 4 Merguez sausages. My second meal is a 12-16oz ribeye steak at 6pm. Before I started eating this way I weight 254 pounds, my blood pressure was 170/140, and I was prediabetic. Today, I weigh 170, my blood pressure is 120/68, and I'm no longer prediabetic. I'll continue this regime because it obviously works for me.

You're just eating protein. It's a very common diet. Since you have no SUGAR intake, that alone will cause weight loss and other health benefits. There are many healthy plants you can eat that will not interfere with what you're doing. You need them for your cells, organs, digestive system and especially your colon to prevent cancer.
Dr. Li, I really believe passing your expertise and knowledge in food to the society will greatly contribute to making our nation healthy. I really appreciate your efforts doing this. I'm glad to hear this. When i was a child, my grandmother used to make oatmeal snd honey and put it on a cut that wouldn't heal, then cover it with a bandaid. My mom was a nurse and always had a fit when she did this. Mammy was born in 1891and only went to school thru 8th grade. Up the mountains there were few doctors if any. I was born in 1956 with club feet. Mammy came down to the valley to tend me and my siblings while my parents worked. Mammy also tended to my grandfather who lived to be 90. Ft. Hey did well for their age bracket. Lots of oatmeal - real oatmeal, like i cook today.
Hi! My grandmother was born in 1893 and lived with us. I born in 1957. We drank our milk straight from the cow...made butter from cream on top. Fresh eggs not pasteurized. Squirrels, rabbits wild. Fresh veggies from garden and wild blueberries n blackberries. Oatmeal was a staple. Very little sugar treats. No sodas. We raised black angus, grass fed. Life was GOOD back then. Sounds like you lived good life too.❤

All my family and myself were fed porridge from being a small child and we all still love it today. Just don't go overboard and spoil it with too much of anything. It really does keep your body healthy by feeding the natural good bacteria in your stomach. Everything in moderation and slowly reduce the refined sugar over time. Fast for 24 hrs once a week. 🙏🙏🙏

I’m in my 80’s . organic steel cut oats are a “must have “ for my morning break fast! I add frozen wild blueberries. Or blackberries. Fresh strawberry in season. All my food is organic, pasture grown including the eggs . food is my medicine as I’m super sensitive to drugs. Do not eat sugar. Only food with natural occurring sugar. Am trying to rebuild muscle after Covid from 6 months ago. Weigh about 115. Fats from salmon, olive. Oil…occasional lamb chops from local farm… interested in stem cell healing to rebuild Mitochondria. Exercise daily but not enough due to vertigo from old brain injury. I am 78. In excellent health. Just retired. My breakfast: black coffee; a piece of homemade bread in which I melt dark chocolate... and one tsp of jam. It's delicious. I eat Mediterranean food, because... I am Mediterranean... I never drink milk. I put some in my coffee..sometimes. My bones are great.🙂

If you're a man, however, his advice to eat soy products is not good. Taking on any extra estrogen for men is not advisable. A quick look at modern society raises some concerning questions on what we are doing to ourselves.
I listen to a lot of health talk, but when people damn oatmeal I don't listen, I have tried to switch to sprouted and organic though. I don't listen because my body tells me so.
If in the first place your gut is healthy. Unbeknownst to me I had gut issues. Eating oatmeal made me so ill. Since healing my gut, I can now eat and enjoy it.

I mix organic raisins,, cinnamon, sprouted pumpkin seeds, and organic steel cut oats in a glass container. Pour over boiling water, cover and allow to return to room temperature. Stir, keep in fridge and eat cold for days. If it ferments a bit, so much the better. Yum.
Been following health and fitness youtubers for over a year now.. But this video truly stands out. Very clear and nuanced recommendations backed up with facts and history. I eat 20 eggs per week btw. All pasture raised of course.
I eat greek yogurt like that as last meal of the day when I come from work after 9PM (I have only mealbreak at 3PM and thats too early for last meal and as I am a chef I cant eat during rush hour). Pure greek yogurt with chia seeds, hemp, crushed linseeds, minced nut mix, acacia fibers, some fruits like blue berries, banana, fresh strawberries and a dash of whole milk or cream and a drizzle of raw honey. Keeps my digestion healthy while I sleep. I no longer buy flavored yogurts, making it yourself is soooo much better! Just dont put pineapple in it, it goes very bad with dairy, thats why you rarely see pineapple flavored dairy. I have that with breakfast or lunch instead :)

@@yenski2012 I have it from Now! Which is I think pretty easy available worldwide. Its in a big container and you most likely find it at the bottom shelve. In my supermarket they both have it at the supplement section and at the healthy food and organic section. They may also sell it in a bag to refill but not sure if its the acacia or physillum husk, I use both but acacia is way better.
My ma has ate breakfast of eggs, bacon & sausage homemade buttermilk biscuits with grits DAILY….she is in her 90’s. She is still going strong! The only time she was in the hospital was when I was born. However she has Never smoked & has Never even tasted an alcoholic beverage! ❤
I here these anecdotal stories once and a while. They are actually rare as most of the people who eat this way are dead. I would wager, you Ma didn't eat that when she was young, as most people could not afford to eat that way. That gave her a healthier start. There is also people who's genetics are stronger for longevity.. I am going to tell you that Dr, Li is wrong about eggs. Legally in the USA the egg industry cannot even call eggs healthy in any of their AD's as they are NOT.. Eggs feed TMAO, Choline leads to prostate cancer, which is medical proven. @@randall1715Eggs are extremely healthy. I eat 2 to 3 every morning for breakfast, along with 2 slices of bacon and 1 pork sausage. I have done this for years. However, I only eat organic, pastured eggs, and bacon with no antibiotics, no added growth stimulants, no nitrates or nitrites added, no sugar, minimally processed and no artificial ingredients. Also, always vegetable fed. I go to a functual medicine Dr. and do blood work (Spectralcell and other blood work every 6 months). I don’t agree with the oats of any type since oats has a protein that mimics gluten in grains. For those with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, this can be a real problem if they do not know. I am in my mid 70’s, never get sick and never had an operation and I am very thankful to God.
There’s tons of poison put into the ground, water, pesticide,…not like what your parents ate years ago. In 1950 wheat was scientifically modified to produce tons more grains. But there was no safety test done. Notice how much more illnesses there are today? Most are due to hybridized flour. Notice all the chemicals put in our water system? How about killer chemicals put into the ground to kill weeds plus who knows what else, oh n the toxic chemicals buried in our soil? Our societies so sick like never before!!!
@randall1715 Dr. Li is talking pasture fed free-range eggs. These eggs do not have the same problems that eggs from chickens that are caged and kept in huge "tent rows" have. They are healthy and organic.
I love watching Dr. Li. He is extremely knowledgeable and I like how he uses analogies and explains the science behind everything. He keeps the information interesting, has a nice voice and speaks at a good pace-you actually want to listen to him unlike other dry and boring doctors who don't offer much of the science aspect or explanations. II fitst discovered your channel when I was extremely unwell and continued to get worse l, displaying new symptoms. All I could do was lay in bed while going through a frustrating medical journey, seeing specialist after soecialist and test after test like a guinea pig. I was very inspired by the concept of using foods to aid in healing. From there I was hooked up and on Dr. Li and his content. I appreciate how he keeps things fresh and fresh talks about different topics. As he is an expert on the vascular system, which is so crucial in keeping our bodies running well, I appreciate how he covers aboutkeeping blood flow healthy. Can you please talk about varicose veins and what is actually happening, risks and what can be done to keep the veins healthy and prevent them from worsening. Im wondering if it could also be genetic? 🤔 My doctor does nit have much to offer aside from telling me that if it starts to hurt she can refer me to a surgeon. It's been a while since I'm doing intermittent fasting. I never eat in the morning. My last meal would be 8pm the earlier and 10pm the latest. After that no more food coming in. I am a full-time elderly personal caregiver I have a dementia patient under my care. I usually sleep late coz I am also studying online to advance my career. I sleep usually at 2am and get up at 9am. I just drink water with ACV after I get up, then later I would take my black coffee and water until 1pm or 2pm that's the time I would break my fast. I'm used to it already. I never liked to eat breakfast anymore since I started IF. Thanks a lot Dr. William for your fine explanation about what happened during the fasting hours. Great information. 💖🤩

It's definitely weird, there are about 4 different doctors I trust (mostly) to be honest, and with oatmeal, for one example, the split is 50/50 or 2/4 on whether oatmeal should or shouldn't be a part of a 'healthy' diet. It's the same with many (fresh) fruits, dairy etc...and I'm not even introducing any food sensitivities, just a basic healthy diet. It gets frustrating! I know oatmeal is great *topically* from others and personal experience but should I eat it as well? I honestly don't know! 🙄
great advice on oats . I turned into pre-diabetic recently . I stopped all grains. Once I bring my A1C below 5.5 I will start steel cut oats. That is a great idea to cook night before breakfast.

Doc William, When I was growing up we always had Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat before school. Is Cream of Wheat as healthy as the Oats? On a cold morning a bowl of either was so good..Thank you for all the wonderful healthy tips. Your channel is awesome!!! 🤗
Oats are wonderful. I make my own muesli: large-flake oats, chopped almonds and walnuts (and cashews and hazelnuts when they're on special), plus all kinds of seeds (sunflower, sesame, pumpkin, hemp, and crushed flax) and dried fruit (raisins, currants, and chopped apricots, figs, mangos, and dates). Sometimes I'll add unsweetened coconut and/or a bit of chopped crystallized ginger for a nice kick. I can make this for under half the cost of store-bought muesli---and organic, too. I eat it with yogurt, soaked chia seeds, and usually blueberries. Delicious and keeps me full for hours. Sometimes I eat this for dinner . . . .
I make a granola which is full of all the good stuff you mentioned above. Like the toasted effect. My sweetner is pure maple sugar, not too much. We rise at about 5:00am and break our fast at around 10:00 am. Works well! during the day we munch on raw vegetables, towards evening a smoothie with non soy protein or a real meal. Works well.....balanced
I've been eating a bowl of instant oatmeal with 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, 2 tablespoons of organic flaxseed meal,and 2 handfuls of chopped walnuts for years.. Also 2 hard boiled eggs with it. My yearly wellness checks have been normal for years. I eat red meats very rarely and eat more vegetables and fruits for lunch and dinner.

About saturated fats: I eat Animal products (grassfed and pasture raised) everyday, good saturated fats, don't eat processed foods included processed meat that contains bad ingredients, bad saturated fats. No junk foods, no fast foods all contains bad Saturated fats. Also, I used only immalayan salt (good minerals). Eat seeds and nuts but no grains. I am 78 years-old; no high cholesterol, no high blood pressure, good vision, fitness walking 5 times a week. Intermittent fasting is very important. Also, I eat low carb(25/50) Take suplements, no medication.

They are now saying that there are two new essential nutrients. There are two saturated fats. One has 15 carbon bonds. The other has 17. Butter has a relatively high amount of it in them. Some meats and most cheeses also are somewhat high, and may take about the size of a cube of butter to match about 3 tablespoons of butter. Anyway, mix and match. They say it is likely the main reason the people of Sardinia (an island in the Mediterranean Sea) live so much longer than most.
@@gregmellott5715 I saw that too. The dairy industry has been busy defending themselves but I believe it’s true. The problem in the US is probably we overeat everything including dairy. There are some disturbing studies about the association of milk with type 1 diabetes and cataracts so more research is warranted in my opinion.
I'm on track with most of what you said. I've recently changed the cheese I eat too hard cheese. Like sharp cheddar. I was never a fan of milk my whole life. I stopped drinking it when I was able to make my own choices and not what I was served. Lol I eat bacon once in a while. And I bake it. Next time I do that, I'll add olive oil. Europe is for Polenta .... and they still eat it today.... wonderful stuff: 1. Just boiled in water. 2. Boiled in water, poured into baking tray, baked in oven, cut into sections and fried on stove in little oil oil, topped with sautekraut, which has also has being fried in little olive oil, eat it with the fried polenta. seeds can be added to this, cumin seeds being the European favourite: The no: 1: Also boiled polenta, cooled, topped with natural yoghurt, add nuts of your choice. And home made sauces Boiled milk or cold: Variety is endless: Very filling. Can be eaten often. In Europe this was considered a poor man's meal... peasant food.

I am 73 years old woman. I love milk. Last month, my dog pulled me and i fell flat on the sidewalk. No broken bone! I think that this is thanks to me drinking milk everyday and taking 300 mg calcium citrate everyday. Plus magnesium citrate, d3, k2. I thank God that he did not make me listen to many other health teachers who say milk is bad. But i only drink one glass a day. Everything in moderation. I exercise also.

Eggs contain all amino acids. But they’re toxic if fed soy, corn and grains. Must be from truly free range chickens that eat nature’s diet…bugs and such.

I eat breakfast at 12, pasture eggs and uncured bacon one slice of crap bread lol, (I miss cereal for breakfast), coffee with heavy whipping cream, dinner at 6. Nothing in between, fast 18 hrs. Coming up on four years. Thanks for the piece sir.
Dr. Lee, I love your videos. I learn so much. Fascinating!!! My personal experience - About 3 years ago, within 30 days I suddenly developed crippling pain in my toes (and toe nails), plantar, heels, ankles and knees. The weight of a bed sheet was too much for my toe nails and agonizing pain would wake me during the night. The pain spread to my fingers, hands, wrists and elbows. The doctor ordered Xrays that showed each joint was inflammed, displaying "osteo arthritis" as the cause. I was referred to a Rheumatologist specialist who reviewed my Xrays and told me there was nothing that could be done but to prescribe pain meds for the agony of walking or the loss of sensation in my fingers/hands/thumb, etc. - My D.O. suggested that I was suffering from inflammation and might want to try a radical dietary change to solve it. She said I needed to stop eating meat, dairy, cheese, processed foods, salt, etc. and go to a plant-based diet to solve my inflammation troubles. It was a big move for someone accustomed to eating fast food, restaurant meals and lots of meat! With no other choice, I decided to try it! - Within 30 days, all my symptoms went away! I went to the 2024 eclipse totality path in Sulphur Springs, TX. There I met a waitress in her 30's who had her large intestine "explode" and also rupture her gall bladder. She was lucky to meet a Doctor, suggesting that she only eat meat and veggies from her family farm, where no animal injections (hormones, etc.) were given to the animals or vegetables. All her symptoms went away. - On the way home 2 days later, I met a 19 year old waitress in Vicksburg, MS (I can eat fish without bad symptoms!) who told me she suffered a sudden rupture of her gall bladder a year ago! Her doctor recommended that she only eat the meat and vegetables from her family farm, where toxins and growth hormones are not used. How many of us Americans are being poisoned by the meat and food processing industry that pushes all these artificial growth hormones, chemicals and drugs on beef/pork/fowl and are used in processed foods?
Stop eating Oats & Wheat, regardless of their packaging & labels. Wheat & Oat products cause arthritis & generate sulfuric acid. They also contain lots of anti-nutrients & lectins that are highly damaging to the linings in the gut - a big source of chronic inflammation, chronic joint pain/arthritis, chronic fatigue, obesity, & heart disease.
I have a low sugar granola sprinkled with tree nuts, and berries with a little almond milk. For a special treat, I have a keto waffle with pastured raised, boiled egg and butter. I am 86 and have a 72 year old boyfriend!😂😊
We bring the steel cut oats to a boil, put a tight lid on and leave it overnight. It cooks beautifully and needs just a quick stir with boiling water to be ready to serve. I like a date or two chopped up as a sweetener.
Dr. Li. There are so many diverging theories on diet out there that frankly it's confusing. Some say all meat with no plants, others advocate only plants and seeds. Yet another group say absolutely no dairy. The carnivore believers tell us we need a lot of fat from meat and butter. Sometimes I don't feel like eating at all. I got to 81 without any serious illness so I must be doing something right. The French use only butter for cooking and they seem quite healthy. Who knows. Anyway, thank you for this information.
Yes, very conflicting diet theories, been hearing that oatmeal contain lectins which tear holes in stomach lining, I dont know what's true anymore. And I have osteoporosis, which some say I should stay away from lectins🤷♀️
I only cook with pork lard from people in the montain (every Saturday butchering a pig) Never sick, grow my food, fermenting everything when I can. Baking sourdough bread if anyone wants bread. Drinking every morning fresh ginger, honey hot water....tea...Still 110 lbs and got 6 packs for a 48 years old female. Cholesterol is healthy, made by our bodies, doesn't need to be lowered. The oldest living people have the highest LDL levels. It protects us as we age. Cholesterol is completely misunderstood. Put oatmeal is sprayed with glyphosate so it's very important to get organic and glyphosate free.
Water is healthy right? But what happens if you drink 10 gallons in an hour? You'll get water intoxication. Music is good too right? But what happens if you turn the volume too loud? You go deaf.... Moderation is key. In other words, yes, we need cholesterol like we need water (and music), but too much is absolutely harmful. This is a common sense concept that you must understand and apply to everything in life. And regarding the association between higher cholesterol levels and lower mortality rates in old people... This is just an association that is likely explained by the fact that lower cholesterol levels in old people are downstream effects of conditions that cause rapid weight loss. In other words, the illnesses that old people fall victim to tend to lead to rapid weight loss, and the weight loss then causes lower cholesterol levels. That means the healthier old people live longer because they don't fall victim to the the illnesses that cause rapid weight loss, and their cholesterol levels tend to be higher because of it.

I quit eating oatmeal (was eating steel cut oats for over 10 years). The reason I stopped is that it had no effect on my cholesterol. Since I've stopped eating oatmeal, my cholesterol is a couple of points better. The only reason I ate oatmeal was because it was supposed to reduce the cholesterol. I've read and listened to many people on this subject. Some say it lowers cholesterol and some say we shouldn't eat oatmeal. It may work for some people but it didn't work for me. I ate it everyday for years and it didn't work. Now I eat one egg for breakfast and a handful of nuts. I started intermittent fasting almost 5 years ago and I was eating oatmeal for breakfast every day back then. I still do intermittent fasting to keep the weight off as I'm at my goal weight. I stopped eating oatmeal about a year and a half ago to see if my cholesterol would go up, stay the same or reduce. I was surprised that it went down slightly. I'm hoping the next time I have it tested that maybe it will go down some more. I have never been on statins (I refuse to take that risk) as I saw what it did to some people in my family. I don't believe that any one doctor has all the answers. I appreciate all the doctors on You Tube that are educating us but I don't believe everything that they say and I don't believe everything the researchers publicize. It is very difficult for non-doctors to really know what the best thing is to do. I try to take it in and am cautious on what I do but I believe intermittent fasting has helped me the most of any so called diet that I've ever tried. I've been able to keep my weight under control and I cook my own food (no processed food). I'm 70 and on no prescriptions except for potassium with citric acid to dissolve kidney stones and hopefully not have any more of those.
I'm 70 and I was doing fine until I tried eating a little steel cut oatmeal for breakfast (changing nothing else in my diet). I immediately starting gaining weight. Up until that point I was eating less than 20g of carbs a day and intermittent fasting. So I'm back to my low carb lifestyle and have lost the weight I gained. I now stick with my old breakfast of eggs (or cheese omelets), pork sausage or bacon and a cup of coffee. My HDL to Triglycerides ratio has never been lower. For gut microbiome, I eat things like greek yogurt, spinach, kale, and chard, and sauerkraut once a week.
A heavy meat and low carb diet is the best. Meat is the most nutrient dense food. Saturated fat and cholesterol is good for our body and brains. Our brain is made of 60% fat and cholesterol while the building blood of every cell is protien. I have been doing intermittent fasting for years and stayed at 200. Went heavy meat (carnivore) and most 30 lbs in 4 months.

While this physician is kind knowledgeable and seems to truly want to help others he could do better with his presentation. He wants to be clear and he is but he is not concise. You can write out a presentation then review it and slash out every word that does not really need to be there. Drifting off into side stories, restating using a slightly different example, overly clarifying. Just because you agree that someone is intelligent and has knowledge on a subject that you are interested in does not mean that you have all day. Life is short and most of us have a lot to learn and many things to do. Not wanting to listen to a lecture for an hour or more when it could have taken 30 min does not make one an ungrateful sloth.
I don't listen or watch much what the doctors in you tube say. I go straight to the comment section and i will know all what the youtuber had said it saves a lot of my valuable time.
He is right! Its been five years already that i dont ate late anymore until 7 or 8:00am in the morning. I get used to it now, and i dont feel hungry or starving until 8:00AM😂 when i get up i'm checking my weights on a scale and thats how i found out to maitain my weights! Re: 0% fat yogurt, check the ingredients list. Thickeners and emulsifiers will be listed (at least in Canada). There are lots that have only skimmed milk and bacterial culture. Dr. John McDougall 1. What did your dad die from please? McDougall had the shot and no autopsy so I am rethinking much of what he taught. I would like to add he was a dedicated doctor with the best interests of his patients. I think he was correct for adult weight loss but that slender elderly and children, perhaps everyone could benefit from eggs and a little butter and milk or cheese. The shot complicates things because some batches had high complication rates.

But my father also had hypertension most of his life and eventually he died from a stroke. (This was a year or so before Covid.) Sometimes I have the feeling following dietary advise is like walking through a mine field. One guy on Insta is telling me broccoli is unhealthy. Another woman is saying don't eat grapes. My BP was 225/125 and my pulse was 102 and I was sitting down for hours. I took my BP medicine, and it went down for an hour, and it went right back up. I fixed a packet of instant oatmeal and got a small Banan and started slowly eating them. Within an hour my BP was down to 179/95, and my pulse was running in the 80's. By morning (7 hours later) my BP was 120/72 and my pulse was 65. I changed my diet, lowered my sodium intake, added Vit D3, Vit K2, magnesium, zinc, copper, Vit B1, B3, B6, B12, Vit C, Vit E, seaweed, carrot juice, cabbage, organic oatmeal, blueberries, beets, blackberries, black currants, cantaloup, pumpkin, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, watermelon, green, white and earl grey tea, steamed, pressure cooked, smoked and rotisserie cooked meats. I drink 100% fruit juices and own two juicers (one crushes) and I drink a mixed Meagan Milk of Coconut, Blanched Almonds, Oats, Rice (8 ingredients). My BP is now normal, and my pulse is normal, and I am down from 265 pounds to 218 pounds in just 6 months. Sometimes when I wake up my BP is 112/55 and my pulse is as low as 48. Sometimes I only eat one or two meals a day and I eat when I feel I need to, not when I want to. @@manojlogulic4234 High Blood Pressure can be caused by NOT just one issue. I have a stomach ulcer, not artery blockage. Eating the Oatmeal and Banana increases the slime layer and covers the ulcer, so my Blood Pressure started to lower almost immediately. I also done research about High Blood Pressure and the medicine (Amlodipine) I was prescribed by a doctor. It says to not eat certain foods, or it will increase the Amlodipine in my blood and thus increase symptoms from taking the Amlodipine.
I use to make a mixture of cooked cool oatmeal with slightly more liquid as to not be to thick and apply it to my face it's amazing how it makes your skin feel. @@tommynickels4570 you cant avoid oxalates completely, well you can if you go carnivore but thats a restrictive diet that most people avoid because they wanna have more variety, you avoid oxalates when they start causing you issues, i do great with 50g carbs and 20g sugar, over that amount i have health issues, so i do a low carb low keto diet, dairy is fine until it isnt, the only way to be sure is to do an elimination diet, do carnivore for 30 days, eat only meat salt and water, and add the food you wanna try and think you might have issue with, if you have issues is the food you added, meat never causes issues on its own unless you were bitten by a tick and you developed a rare "red meat" allergy, hope i helped. edit: fasting helped me alot, i usually do a 2 day fastd 2 times a month, usually between weeks. i also eat 12 noon and then again around 5 or 6 and nothing the rest of the day, dr ekberg is your best bet to solve most if not all your issues, he helped me alot, check his youtube channel.
One other point, the American Heart Association didn’t just get their studies wrong about eggs because they didn’t understand that there were other food items that could cause high cholesterol. They got it wrong because they were in bed with the sugar industry, trying to promote replacing cholesterol with sugary items. Even a child could figure out that unless you isolate a particular food item you can’t necessarily blame it for everything. They’re not that dumb. They made the studies in order to make the findings that they wanted. No wonder nobody trusts science now. They’ve totally confused the issues because of junk science and greed.
My daughter had a heart transplant, last year, due to an issue she was born with, non-ventricular tachycardia. She is in her late 20’s. They always tell her to drink milk bc with the post-transplant meds, bone health, as well as other (kidneys, etc) is a major concern. As she drinks her milk she tells me “the doctors say this is good” They saved her life. So, she listens to their advice but I wish I could get her to realize Milk isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I try to respect that it’s her journey.
My 86yr old mother has a glass of milk every day or sometimes in the middle of the night and has done this all her life. Her constitution is amazing, and she has no metabolic or health conditions other than a congenital heart issue that presents no problems. Our species evolved with dairy. Try not to worry too much. 🤗
They drank goat and sheep milk in the Bible . They did not drink cow milk from what I have researched. Cow milk is difficult to process. If she is going to drink Cows milk, she should go to a family owned and buy fresh milk from them . Store bought milk is bad because it's been pasteurized and homogized If you buy it in the stores, make sure it is non-homogized, but unfortunately, it will be pasteurized.
Dont be insane, i have drank 5l of milk per day for 59 years and I can guarantee my triglyceride to JDL ratio and overall fitness is massively superior to yours.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in great amounts in leafy green vegetables, more than in eggs. Dark green leafy vegetables also have more calcium than milk.

It was, very often, prepared the evening before and the pot was placed in a hay box, the following morning it was almost cooked. Also, fed to patients in cardio thoracic units in hospital.

Try cooking your steel-cut oats in the crockpot overnight. When you add some blueberries, oat-milk, and a touch of vanilla it tasts like a blueberry muffin.
I am excited that I finally have found a use for oatmeal besides feeding horses, wound healing, because I sure can't get myself waste my favorite meal of the day to eat it versus food.
And for sunburn! Oat water is also good for skin care in general: after washing your face, smooth a little oat water on, let dry for ten minutes, then rinse. Jethro Kloss's venerable book Back to Eden recommends making oat water to drink instead of plain water. If you like the taste of oats, it's a refreshing substitute with supposedly healthy attributes. The mucilaginous property is soothing to the stomach. Just chuck a handful of oats (I use large flake organic) into a litre or so of water, boil for a while, cool and strain, and keep it in the fridge. You can use the pulp in pancakes or muffins because there's still a bit of nourishment (and fibre) left in it.
Many brands of cottage cheese have nasty ingredients like propylene glycol and stuff like carrageenan and xanthan gum that have recently sounded alarm bells. Get organic cottage cheese if you can, or look up a recipe to make your own.
Breaking the fast, is an English language construct. In Swedish, my language, the word is 'frukost', and it means early food. So the word breakfast is not universal, and its meaning break the fast, is an English language construction. Sort of local then .
It is not unique to the English language. There are many but two examples are petit déjeuner in French and desayuno in Spanish. They are derived from jeuner and ayunar respectively which mean to fast with breakfast being a de-fast or un-fast.
I've recently just lost 10 pounds simply by stopping eating at 7:00pm, skipping breakfast (which i never really liked anyway) and eating at 12 noon. Works great...and I'm not hungery at all! I guess this is intermittent fasting....who knew 😂😂

With the bacon, need to read label, can be found low in nitrate and sugar; fry at medium heat so it won burn and of curse eat in moderation, not every day, maybe once or twice a month. Sugar feed cancers cell, avoid sugar completely

I learn a great deal from Dr. Li and respect his scientific expertise a great deal. I would, however, appreciate it if he would speak about allergens to various foods he recommends, such as milk and wheat and eggs. I cannot eat any of these so concerned that I'm missing essential nutrients. What should one take to support the body that cannot handle these three food groups?

I'm 75 and now in excellent health, compared to where I was 5 years ago. I eat 2 meals a day: one at 11:30am - 4 eggs and anywhere from 5 to 8 pieces of bacon or 4 Merguez sausages. My second meal is a 12-16oz ribeye steak at 6pm. Before I started eating this way I weight 254 pounds, my blood pressure was 170/140, and I was prediabetic. Today, I weigh 170, my blood pressure is 120/68, and I'm no longer prediabetic. I'll continue this regime because it obviously works for me.
So you're basically a high protein eater...but is that just your core diet with some veg or carbs or fruit thrown in, or is that your whole diet?

You're just eating protein. It's a very common diet. Since you have no SUGAR intake, that alone will cause weight loss and other health benefits. There are many healthy plants you can eat that will not interfere with what you're doing. You need them for your cells, organs, digestive system and especially your colon to prevent cancer.

I'm glad to hear this. When i was a child, my grandmother used to make oatmeal snd honey and put it on a cut that wouldn't heal, then cover it with a bandaid. My mom was a nurse and always had a fit when she did this. Mammy was born in 1891and only went to school thru 8th grade. Up the mountains there were few doctors if any. I was born in 1956 with club feet. Mammy came down to the valley to tend me and my siblings while my parents worked. Mammy also tended to my grandfather who lived to be 90. Ft. Hey did well for their age bracket. Lots of oatmeal - real oatmeal, like i cook today.
Hi! My grandmother was born in 1893 and lived with us. I born in 1957. We drank our milk straight from the cow...made butter from cream on top.
Fresh eggs not pasteurized. Squirrels, rabbits wild. Fresh veggies from garden and wild blueberries n blackberries. Oatmeal was a staple. Very little sugar treats. No sodas. We raised black angus, grass fed. Life was GOOD back then. Sounds like you lived good life too.❤

All my family and myself were fed porridge from being a small child and we all still love it today. Just don't go overboard and spoil it with too much of anything. It really does keep your body healthy by feeding the natural good bacteria in your stomach. Everything in moderation and slowly reduce the refined sugar over time. Fast for 24 hrs once a week. 🙏🙏🙏

I am 78. In excellent health. Just retired. My breakfast: black coffee; a piece of homemade bread in which I melt dark chocolate... and one tsp of jam. It's delicious. I eat Mediterranean food, because... I am Mediterranean... I never drink milk. I put some in my coffee..sometimes. My bones are great.🙂

If you're a man, however, his advice to eat soy products is not good. Taking on any extra estrogen for men is not advisable. A quick look at modern society raises some concerning questions on what we are doing to ourselves.
I listen to a lot of health talk, but when people damn oatmeal I don't listen, I have tried to switch to sprouted and organic though. I don't listen because my body tells me so.

If in the first place your gut is healthy. Unbeknownst to me I had gut issues. Eating oatmeal made me so ill. Since healing my gut, I can now eat and enjoy it.

I mix organic raisins,, cinnamon, sprouted pumpkin seeds, and organic steel cut oats in a glass container. Pour over boiling water, cover and allow to return to room temperature. Stir, keep in fridge and eat cold for days. If it ferments a bit, so much the better. Yum.
Boiling would be detrimental. Hot water would not destroy nutrients as much.
Been following health and fitness youtubers for over a year now.. But this video truly stands out. Very clear and nuanced recommendations backed up with facts and history. I eat 20 eggs per week btw. All pasture raised of course.
I eat greek yogurt like that as last meal of the day when I come from work after 9PM (I have only mealbreak at 3PM and thats too early for last meal and as I am a chef I cant eat during rush hour). Pure greek yogurt with chia seeds, hemp, crushed linseeds, minced nut mix, acacia fibers, some fruits like blue berries, banana, fresh strawberries and a dash of whole milk or cream and a drizzle of raw honey. Keeps my digestion healthy while I sleep. I no longer buy flavored yogurts, making it yourself is soooo much better! Just dont put pineapple in it, it goes very bad with dairy, thats why you rarely see pineapple flavored dairy. I have that with breakfast or lunch instead :)

@@yenski2012 I have it from Now! Which is I think pretty easy available worldwide. Its in a big container and you most likely find it at the bottom shelve. In my supermarket they both have it at the supplement section and at the healthy food and organic section. They may also sell it in a bag to refill but not sure if its the acacia or physillum husk, I use both but acacia is way better.
My ma has ate breakfast of eggs, bacon & sausage homemade buttermilk biscuits with grits DAILY….she is in her 90’s. She is still going strong! The only time she was in the hospital was when I was born. However she has Never smoked & has Never even tasted an alcoholic beverage! ❤
I here these anecdotal stories once and a while. They are actually rare as most of the people who eat this way are dead. I would wager, you Ma didn't eat that when she was young, as most people could not afford to eat that way. That gave her a healthier start. There is also people who's genetics are stronger for longevity.. I am going to tell you that Dr, Li is wrong about eggs. Legally in the USA the egg industry cannot even call eggs healthy in any of their AD's as they are NOT.. Eggs feed TMAO, Choline leads to prostate cancer, which is medical proven. @@randall1715Eggs are extremely healthy. I eat 2 to 3 every morning for breakfast, along with 2 slices of bacon and 1 pork sausage. I have done this for years. However, I only eat organic, pastured eggs, and bacon with no antibiotics, no added growth stimulants, no nitrates or nitrites added, no sugar, minimally processed and no artificial ingredients. Also, always vegetable fed.
I go to a functual medicine Dr. and do blood work (Spectralcell and other blood work every 6 months).
I don’t agree with the oats of any type since oats has a protein that mimics gluten in grains. For those with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, this can be a real problem if they do not know.
I am in my mid 70’s, never get sick and never had an operation and I am very thankful to God.
There’s tons of poison put into the ground, water, pesticide,…not like what your parents ate years ago. In 1950 wheat was scientifically modified to produce tons more grains. But there was no safety test done. Notice how much more illnesses there are today? Most are due to hybridized flour. Notice all the chemicals put in our water system? @randall1715 Dr. Li is talking pasture fed free-range eggs. These eggs do not have the same problems that eggs from chickens that are caged and kept in huge "tent rows" have. They are healthy and organic.

I love watching Dr. Li. He is extremely knowledgeable and I like how he uses analogies and explains the science behind everything. He keeps the information interesting, has a nice voice and speaks at a good pace-you actually want to listen to him unlike other dry and boring doctors who don't offer much of the science aspect or explanations. II fitst discovered your channel when I was extremely unwell and continued to get worse l, displaying new symptoms. All I could do was lay in bed while going through a frustrating medical journey, seeing specialist after soecialist and test after test like a guinea pig. I was very inspired by the concept of using foods to aid in healing. From there I was hooked up and on Dr. Li and his content. I appreciate how he keeps things fresh and fresh talks about different topics. As he is an expert on the vascular system, which is so crucial in keeping our bodies running well, I appreciate how he covers aboutkeeping blood flow healthy. Can you please talk about varicose veins and what is actually happening, risks and what can be done to keep the veins healthy and prevent them from worsening. Im wondering if it could also be genetic? 🤔 My doctor does nit have much to offer aside from telling me that if it starts to hurt she can refer me to a surgeon. It's been a while since I'm doing intermittent fasting. I never eat in the morning. My last meal would be 8pm the earlier and 10pm the latest. After that no more food coming in. I am a full-time elderly personal caregiver I have a dementia patient under my care. I usually sleep late coz I am also studying online to advance my career. I sleep usually at 2am and get up at 9am. I just drink water with ACV after I get up, then later I would take my black coffee and water until 1pm or 2pm that's the time I would break my fast. I'm used to it already. I never liked to eat breakfast anymore since I started IF. Thanks a lot Dr. William for your fine explanation about what happened during the fasting hours. Great information. 💖🤩

It's definitely weird, there are about 4 different doctors I trust (mostly) to be honest, and with oatmeal, for one example, the split is 50/50 or 2/4 on whether oatmeal should or shouldn't be a part of a 'healthy' diet. It's the same with many (fresh) fruits, dairy etc...and I'm not even introducing any food sensitivities, just a basic healthy diet. It gets frustrating!
I know oatmeal is great *topically* from others and personal experience but should I eat it as well? I honestly don't know! 🙄

great advice on oats . I turned into pre-diabetic recently . I stopped all grains. Once I bring my A1C below 5.5 I will start steel cut oats. That is a great idea to cook night before breakfast.

Oats are wonderful. I make my own muesli: large-flake oats, chopped almonds and walnuts (and cashews and hazelnuts when they're on special), plus all kinds of seeds (sunflower, sesame, pumpkin, hemp, and crushed flax) and dried fruit (raisins, currants, and chopped apricots, figs, mangos, and dates). Sometimes I'll add unsweetened coconut and/or a bit of chopped crystallized ginger for a nice kick. I can make this for under half the cost of store-bought muesli---and organic, too. I eat it with yogurt, soaked chia seeds, and usually blueberries. Delicious and keeps me full for hours. Sometimes I eat this for dinner . . . .
I make a granola which is full of all the good stuff you mentioned above. Like the toasted effect. My sweetner is pure maple sugar, not too much. We rise at about 5:00am and break our fast at around 10:00 am. Works well! during the day we munch on raw vegetables, towards evening a smoothie with non soy protein or a real meal. Works well.....balanced
Maybe oats were good in the 80's before glyphosate. Now it's high in glyphosate.

I've been eating a bowl of instant oatmeal with 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, 2 tablespoons of organic flaxseed meal,and 2 handfuls of chopped walnuts for years.. Also 2 hard boiled eggs with it. My yearly wellness checks have been normal for years. I eat red meats very rarely and eat more vegetables and fruits for lunch and dinner.
Sadly the chemicals in that instant oatmeal will slowly damage your body

Many good info. About saturated fats: I eat Animal products (grassfed and pasture raised) everyday, good saturated fats, don't eat processed foods included processed meat that contains bad ingredients, bad saturated fats. No junk foods, no fast foods all contains bad Saturated fats.
Also, I used only immalayan salt (good minerals). Eat seeds and nuts but no grains.
I am 78 years-old; no high cholesterol, no high blood pressure, good vision, fitness walking 5 times a week.
Intermittent fasting is very important.
Also, I eat low carb(25/50)
Take suplements, no medication.
What supplements?
Animals are animals no matter how they're raised, fats are fats no matter what type it is, both are bad for you.

They are now saying that there are two new essential nutrients. There are two saturated fats. One has 15 carbon bonds. The other has 17. Butter has a relatively high amount of it in them. Some meats and most cheeses also are somewhat high, and may take about the size of a cube of butter to match about 3 tablespoons of butter. Anyway, mix and match. They say it is likely the main reason the people of Sardinia (an island in the Mediterranean Sea) live so much longer than most.
@@gregmellott5715 I saw that too. The dairy industry has been busy defending themselves but I believe it’s true. The problem in the US is probably we overeat everything including dairy. There are some disturbing studies about the association of milk with type 1 diabetes and cataracts so more research is warranted in my opinion.
I'm on track with most of what you said. I've recently changed the cheese I eat too hard cheese. Like sharp cheddar. I was never a fan of milk my whole life. I stopped drinking it when I was able to make my own choices and not what I was served. Lol I eat bacon once in a while. And I bake it. Next time I do that, I'll add olive oil. I am 73 years old woman. I love milk. Last month, my dog pulled me and i fell flat on the sidewalk. No broken bone! I think that this is thanks to me drinking milk everyday and taking 300 mg calcium citrate everyday. Plus magnesium citrate, d3, k2. I thank God that he did not make me listen to many other health teachers who say milk is bad.
But i only drink one glass a day. Everything in moderation. I exercise also.
I work in a senior living center and those who are walking without assistance seemed to be those who drink milk everyday some 3 times a day!

I eat breakfast at 12, pasture eggs and uncured bacon one slice of crap bread lol, (I miss cereal for breakfast), coffee with heavy whipping cream, dinner at 6. Nothing in between, fast 18 hrs. Coming up on four years. Thanks for the piece sir.

Fascinating!!! My personal experience - About 3 years ago, within 30 days I suddenly developed crippling pain in my toes (and toe nails), plantar, heels, ankles and knees. The weight of a bed sheet was too much for my toe nails and agonizing pain would wake me during the night. The pain spread to my fingers, hands, wrists and elbows. The doctor ordered Xrays that showed each joint was inflammed, displaying "osteo arthritis" as the cause. I was referred to a Rheumatologist specialist who reviewed my Xrays and told me there was nothing that could be done but to prescribe pain meds for the agony of walking or the loss of sensation in my fingers/hands/thumb, etc. - My D.O. suggested that I was suffering from inflammation and might want to try a radical dietary change to solve it. She said I needed to stop eating meat, dairy, cheese, processed foods, salt, etc. and go to a plant-based diet to solve my inflammation troubles. It was a big move for someone accustomed to eating fast food, restaurant meals and lots of meat! With no other choice, I decided to try it! - Within 30 days, all my symptoms went away!
I went to the 2024 eclipse totality path in Sulphur Springs, TX. There I met a waitress in her 30's who had her large intestine "explode" and also rupture her gall bladder. She was lucky to meet a Doctor, suggesting that she only eat meat and veggies from her family farm, where no animal injections (hormones, etc.) were given to the animals or vegetables. All her symptoms went away. - On the way home 2 days later, I met a 19 year old waitress in Vicksburg, MS (I can eat fish without bad symptoms!) who told me she suffered a sudden rupture of her gall bladder a year ago! Her doctor recommended that she only eat the meat and vegetables from her family farm, where toxins and growth hormones are not used.
How many of us Americans are being poisoned by the meat and food processing industry that pushes all these artificial growth hormones, chemicals and drugs on beef/pork/fowl and are used in processed foods?
Stop eating Oats & Wheat, regardless of their packaging & labels. Wheat & Oat products cause arthritis & generate sulfuric acid. They also contain lots of anti-nutrients & lectins that are highly damaging to the linings in the gut - a big source of chronic inflammation, chronic joint pain/arthritis, chronic fatigue, obesity, & heart disease.

We bring the steel cut oats to a boil, put a tight lid on and leave it overnight. It cooks beautifully and needs just a quick stir with boiling water to be ready to serve. I like a date or two chopped up as a sweetener.

Dr. Li. There are so many diverging theories on diet out there that frankly it's confusing. Some say all meat with no plants, others advocate only plants and seeds. Yet another group say absolutely no dairy. The carnivore believers tell us we need a lot of fat from meat and butter. Sometimes I don't feel like eating at all. I got to 81 without any serious illness so I must be doing something right. The French use only butter for cooking and they seem quite healthy. Who knows. Anyway, thank you for this information.

I only cook with pork lard from people in the montain (every Saturday butchering a pig) Never sick, grow my food, fermenting everything when I can. Baking sourdough bread if anyone wants bread. Drinking every morning fresh ginger, honey hot water....tea...Still 110 lbs and got 6 packs for a 48 years old female. Don't trust any cooking oils out there and what's going on with olive oils are a shame.

Cholesterol is healthy, made by our bodies, doesn't need to be lowered. The oldest living people have the highest LDL levels. It protects us as we age. Cholesterol is completely misunderstood.
Put oatmeal is sprayed with glyphosate so it's very important to get organic and glyphosate free.
Water is healthy right? But what happens if you drink 10 gallons in an hour? You'll get water intoxication. Music is good too right? But what happens if you turn the volume too loud? You go deaf....
Moderation is key. In other words, yes, we need cholesterol like we need water (and music), but too much is absolutely harmful. This is a common sense concept that you must understand and apply to everything in life.
And regarding the association between higher cholesterol levels and lower mortality rates in old people... This is just an association that is likely explained by the fact that lower cholesterol levels in old people are downstream effects of conditions that cause rapid weight loss. In other words, the illnesses that old people fall victim to tend to lead to rapid weight loss, and the weight loss then causes lower cholesterol levels. I quit eating oatmeal (was eating steel cut oats for over 10 years). The reason I stopped is that it had no effect on my cholesterol. Since I've stopped eating oatmeal, my cholesterol is a couple of points better. The only reason I ate oatmeal was because it was supposed to reduce the cholesterol. I've read and listened to many people on this subject. Some say it lowers cholesterol and some say we shouldn't eat oatmeal. It may work for some people but it didn't work for me. I ate it everyday for years and it didn't work. Now I eat one egg for breakfast and a handful of nuts. I started intermittent fasting almost 5 years ago and I was eating oatmeal for breakfast every day back then. I still do intermittent fasting to keep the weight off as I'm at my goal weight. I stopped eating oatmeal about a year and a half ago to see if my cholesterol would go up, stay the same or reduce. I was surprised that it went down slightly. I'm hoping the next time I have it tested that maybe it will go down some more. I have never been on statins (I refuse to take that risk) as I saw what it did to some people in my family. I don't believe that any one doctor has all the answers. I appreciate all the doctors on You Tube that are educating us but I don't believe everything that they say and I don't believe everything the researchers publicize. It is very difficult for non-doctors to really know what the best thing is to do. I try to take it in and am cautious on what I do but I believe intermittent fasting has helped me the most of any so called diet that I've ever tried. I've been able to keep my weight under control and I cook my own food (no processed food). I'm 70 and on no prescriptions except for potassium with citric acid to dissolve kidney stones and hopefully not have any more of those.
Although he does claim "reasonableness" he also promotes some less than solid ideology involving nutrition.
Eating animal products ( meat butter milk cheese etc) if organic, grass fed, free range.....is healthy.
No evidence that olive oil is better than butter !
Oatmeals are highly advertised - and that is a big red flag for me.
I stay away from it.

I'm 70 and I was doing fine until I tried eating a little steel cut oatmeal for breakfast (changing nothing else in my diet). I immediately starting gaining weight. Up until that point I was eating less than 20g of carbs a day and intermittent fasting. So I'm back to my low carb lifestyle and have lost the weight I gained. I now stick with my old breakfast of eggs (or cheese omelets), pork sausage or bacon and a cup of coffee. My HDL to Triglycerides ratio has never been lower. For gut microbiome, I eat things like greek yogurt, spinach, kale, and chard, and sauerkraut once a week.
Be careful with spinach, kale and chard. They are high in oxalate. Check out interviews of Sally Norton.

A heavy meat and low carb diet is the best. Meat is the most nutrient dense food. Saturated fat and cholesterol is good for our body and brains. Our brain is made of 60% fat and cholesterol while the building blood of every cell is protien. I have been doing intermittent fasting for years and stayed at 200. Went heavy meat (carnivore) and most 30 lbs in 4 months.

@@Abe18874 It is quite possible to enjoy the information that is provided by a given individual without being impressed by the way that information is provided. While this physician is kind knowledgeable and seems to truly want to help others he could do better with his presentation. He wants to be clear and he is but he is not concise. You can write out a presentation then review it and slash out every word that does not really need to be there. Drifting off into side stories, restating using a slightly different example, overly clarifying. Just because you agree that someone is intelligent and has knowledge on a subject that you are interested in does not mean that you have all day. Life is short and most of us have a lot to learn and many things to do. Not wanting to listen to a lecture for an hour or more when it could have taken 30 min does not make one an ungrateful sloth.
I don't listen or watch much what the doctors in you tube say. I go straight to the comment section and i will know all what the youtuber had said it saves a lot of my valuable time.
He is right! Its been five years already that i dont ate late anymore until 7 or 8:00am in the morning. I get used to it now, and i dont feel hungry or starving until 8:00AM😂 when i get up i'm checking my weights on a scale and thats how i found out to maitain my weights! It is all about the foods that are consuming !
Re: 0% fat yogurt, check the ingredients list. Thickeners and emulsifiers will be listed (at least in Canada). There are lots that have only skimmed milk and bacterial culture. Dr. John McDougall 1. What did your dad die from please? McDougall had the shot and no autopsy so I am rethinking much of what he taught. I would like to add he was a dedicated doctor with the best interests of his patients. I think he was correct for adult weight loss but that slender elderly and children, perhaps everyone could benefit from eggs and a little butter and milk or cheese. The shot complicates things because some batches had high complication rates.

But my father also had hypertension most of his life and eventually he died from a stroke. (This was a year or so before Covid.) Sometimes I have the feeling following dietary advise is like walking through a mine field. One guy on Insta is telling me broccoli is unhealthy. Another woman is saying don't eat grapes. My moisturizer is supposedly killing me. Sprinkle turmeric on everything!...I found out I run the risk of macular degeneration, so should I start eating eggs? Ultimately you just have to go with your own instincts. I know very little about Dr. McDougall's death but it makes sense the family would want to keep the circumstances private, especially if people are still buying his books.

My BP was 225/125 and my pulse was 102 and I was sitting down for hours.
I took my BP medicine, and it went down for an hour, and it went right back up.
I fixed a packet of instant oatmeal and got a small Banan and started slowly eating them.
Within an hour my BP was down to 179/95, and my pulse was running in the 80's.
By morning (7 hours later) my BP was 120/72 and my pulse was 65.
I changed my diet, lowered my sodium intake, added Vit D3, Vit K2, magnesium, zinc, copper, Vit B1, B3, B6, B12, Vit C, Vit E, seaweed, carrot juice, cabbage, organic oatmeal, blueberries, beets, blackberries, black currants, cantaloup, pumpkin, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, watermelon, green, white and earl grey tea, steamed, pressure cooked, smoked and rotisserie cooked meats. I drink 100% fruit juices and own two juicers (one crushes) and I drink a mixed Meagan Milk of Coconut, Blanched Almonds, Oats, Rice (8 ingredients).
My BP is now normal, and my pulse is normal, and I am down from 265 pounds to 218 pounds in just 6 months.
Sometimes when I wake up my BP is 112/55 and my pulse is as low as 48.
Sometimes I only eat one or two meals a day and I eat when I feel I need to, not when I want to.
If I feel tired or dizzy, I now eat black berries and blue berries and a small bowl of organic oatmeal with organic spices.

@@manojlogulic4234 High Blood Pressure can be caused by NOT just one issue. I have a stomach ulcer, not artery blockage. Eating the Oatmeal and Banana increases the slime layer and covers the ulcer, so my Blood Pressure started to lower almost immediately.
I also done research about High Blood Pressure and the medicine (Amlodipine) I was prescribed by a doctor. It says to not eat certain foods, or it will increase the Amlodipine in my blood and thus increase symptoms from taking the Amlodipine.

I use to make a mixture of cooked cool oatmeal with slightly more liquid as to not be to thick and apply it to my face it's amazing how it makes your skin feel. There is now "science" to prove every type of diet. It's exhausting.
Do yourself a favor cut out sugar ,sugar substitutes and fried food. Bake or BBQ, don't eat burnt meats!😊 No wheat of any kind.

@@tommynickels4570 you cant avoid oxalates completely, well you can if you go carnivore but thats a restrictive diet that most people avoid because they wanna have more variety, you avoid oxalates when they start causing you issues, i do great with 50g carbs and 20g sugar, over that amount i have health issues, so i do a low carb low keto diet, dairy is fine until it isnt, the only way to be sure is to do an elimination diet, do carnivore for 30 days, eat only meat salt and water, and add the food you wanna try and think you might have issue with, if you have issues is the food you added, meat never causes issues on its own unless you were bitten by a tick and you developed a rare "red meat" allergy, hope i helped.
edit: fasting helped me alot, i usually do a 2 day fastd 2 times a month, usually between weeks. i also eat 12 noon and then again around 5 or 6 and nothing the rest of the day, dr ekberg is your best bet to solve most if not all your issues, he helped me alot, check his youtube channel.
One other point, the American Heart Association didn’t just get their studies wrong about eggs because they didn’t understand that there were other food items that could cause high cholesterol. They got it wrong because they were in bed with the sugar industry, trying to promote replacing cholesterol with sugary items. Even a child could figure out that unless you isolate a particular food item you can’t necessarily blame it for everything. They’re not that dumb. They made the studies in order to make the findings that they wanted. No wonder nobody trusts science now. They’ve totally confused the issues because of junk science and greed.

My daughter had a heart transplant, last year, due to an issue she was born with, non-ventricular tachycardia.
She is in her late 20’s.
They always tell her to drink milk bc with the post-transplant meds, bone health, as well as other (kidneys, etc) is a major concern.
As she drinks her milk she tells me “the doctors say this is good”
They saved her life. So, she listens to their advice but I wish I could get her to realize Milk isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I try to respect that it’s her journey.
My 86yr old mother has a glass of milk every day or sometimes in the middle of the night and has done this all her life. Her constitution is amazing, and she has no metabolic or health conditions other than a congenital heart issue that presents no problems. Our species evolved with dairy. Try not to worry too much. 🤗
They drank goat and sheep milk in the Bible .
They did not drink cow milk from what I have researched.
Cow milk is difficult to process.
If she is going to drink Cows milk, she should go to a family owned and buy fresh milk from them .
Store bought milk is bad because it's been pasteurized and homogized
If you buy it in the stores, make sure it is non-homogized, but unfortunately, it will be pasteurized.
Dont be insane, i have drank 5l of milk per day for 59 years and I can guarantee my triglyceride to JDL ratio and overall fitness is massively superior to yours.

I don't think you should worry. I've been drinking a glass of full fat milk all my life. I'm now 81 and in great health.

In my confusion from listening to various speakers discuss how the insulin level „ skyrockets“ from just a small bowl of oatmeal, I have actually not had any for nearly 4 years. I so enjoyed a bowl of oatmeal! Still a bit nervous about having any…. I will resume having a small bowl occasionally . To me, oatmeal is a comfort food. 😋
You may like to look into pro way of eating. It's not insulin or sugar that is the problem. It is your metabolic health.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in great amounts in leafy green vegetables, more than in eggs. Dark green leafy vegetables also have more calcium than milk.

I rarely eat bacon anymore (maybe a slice once every four months) but because I’m now 74 years old, ( of course any age, bacon is bad for you) I just don’t eat it at all , knowing the damage it’s doing to my body. A bowl of porridge made with medium cut oatmeal, water and a pinch of salt served with a little full fat cream (no sugar) has been a traditional breakfast in Scotland, for hundreds of years. It was, very often, prepared the evening before and the pot was placed in a hay box, the following morning it was almost cooked. Also, fed to patients in cardio thoracic units in hospital.

Try cooking your steel-cut oats in the crockpot overnight. When you add some blueberries, oat-milk, and a touch of vanilla it tasts like a blueberry muffin.
I am excited that I finally have found a use for oatmeal besides feeding horses, wound healing, because I sure can't get myself waste my favorite meal of the day to eat it versus food.
Back in the 1960s and 1970s, when kids got chicken pox,mothers would give them oatmeal baths to help heal and reduce the itchiness.

And for sunburn! Oat water is also good for skin care in general: after washing your face, smooth a little oat water on, let dry for ten minutes, then rinse. Jethro Kloss's venerable book Back to Eden recommends making oat water to drink instead of plain water. If you like the taste of oats, it's a refreshing substitute with supposedly healthy attributes. The mucilaginous property is soothing to the stomach. Just chuck a handful of oats (I use large flake organic) into a litre or so of water, boil for a while, cool and strain, and keep it in the fridge. You can use the pulp in pancakes or muffins because there's still a bit of nourishment (and fibre) left in it.
As an elderly woman, I use oatmeal wrapped in gauge in my bath to soften skin.

Many brands of cottage cheese have nasty ingredients like propylene glycol and stuff like carrageenan and xanthan gum that have recently sounded alarm bells. Get organic cottage cheese if you can, or look up a recipe to make your own.

Breaking the fast, is an English language construct. In Swedish, my language, the word is 'frukost', and it means early food. So the word breakfast is not universal, and its meaning break the fast, is an English language construction. Sort of local then .
It is not unique to the English language. There are many but two examples are petit déjeuner in French and desayuno in Spanish. They are derived from jeuner and ayunar respectively which mean to fast with breakfast being a de-fast or un-fast.
Considering the English language was first scribed by the French. 😊
I don't break fast until 10am to 12pm- though I get up by 7am and exercise.
And my meal could be anything, mostly NOT eggs and bacon.
