I love how she said people think not eating rice, pasta and bread is a huge sacrifice. However, sabotaging your future and goals just to have those food for pleasure is the real sacrifice. That was so deep for me almost made me cry. Cause I've been the before. Still on my journey on building a new me. Fit and mentally strong me. 😍
Lost 4kg and gained more love for myself not because I lost weight but because I am putting me first.

I am so grateful for Suzanne! I used to weigh 367lbs. I am now around 142-144lbs. I have lost 225lbs. Been maintaining this weight loss for over 10yrs now. Food ruled my life. I was crazy around food. For 4yrs straight I had 2 big mac value meals super size daily plus all other junk food too.

Telling a different story, instead of a self-defeating story, telling a story that is generally hopeful, makes all the difference. Great story. Thanks for sharing! I lost over 100 pounds, gained it back, and lost more than 120, which I have now kept off for many years...one day at a time. Much love.

For me, Suzanne was the first speaker on health theory that seemed to come from a more relatable approach. I definitely appreciate those with the strong academic and scientific backgrounds, but I definitely enjoyed seeing somebody (also a woman!) who made these changes from a vulnerable place of wanting to grow , and talked about the realities and the struggles of creating their healthy lifestyle.
I’m so happy for her, and I’m sure she’s inspiring thousands of people.

I loved this interview but for different reasons then most would say. Loved the information about her journey and totally agree that it has to come from within and taking an interest in yourself. But what I loved is that she accomplished so much in such a short time. This is my Dream, my vision, is to serve others with my own experience. Being a mother of three having financial issues and starting journaling within a morning routine is currently transforming our families and my life at a rapid rate. My goal is to do what Suzanne is doing and spreading the message of taking an interest in yourself, making you a priority and creating tools for people starting out, to reprogram their thoughts through journaling. All a work in progress though. Thank you for what you both do for all of us. I’m obsessed with your interviews and send them to all my clients.

Crazy....that is similar to how I grew up. I love her cookbook. Worth every penny. I lost 45 lbs in like 4 months. I had gotten pregnant and couldn't do keto with it for other reasons so I am so glad to start back on keto because it is the only thing that made me think of food differently and made me feel great. The weight loss was the goal but happily found out a healthier mindset afterwards. I feel like it helped me hormonally too.

I don't know how to maneuver around a lot of topics. I have my own biases based on my experiences and where I currently am in life and I don't want to guide my children wrong.
On the other hand I am a parent and not a source of all known knowledge. I don't want my children to think I am the only source to truth but I can offer them my stories and thought processes and retrospect and let them choose for themselves what is best for them because they will have to be the ones to make their own decisions.

The social ostracizing for eating for health is very real at any age and is unacceptable especially within your circle-of-trust.

I love what suzanne said that she realized it was not the losing of weight that will be the "instant fix" for her and that everything's gonna be okay. but it was the battle of feelings that she's not good enough and she was still judging herself.
    I like the ideas of:
"retraining your thoughts to change your way of thinking"
"it's okay to be scary and just keep on."

I’ve never found New Years Resolutions that helpful for anything. It puts a date on your goal, but it seems to just be a countdown until you fuck up. It’s like AA, always counting how many days sober. But again, it just turns into a count down for when to fuck up. Epiphanies don’t happen due to a calendar change. Any random day of the year works better than the added pressure of New Years. Btw. Happy New Years!🙄

For me personally it was 100% Keto. When I have zero carbs for breakfast and lunch my hunger disappears. Years ago Atkins didn't work for me because I was not getting enough potassium and other essential minerals. I supplement potassium and use the low sodium salt which is 50% potassium along with the Sodium. I intentionally eat most of my carbs for dinner so that the insulin bounce doesn't come until after I am asleep.

How long did u do Keto? The first time I tried for 3 months I gave up and didn't feel it either. Then, a year later I gave it another try. This time, one month into it, I am completely a believer in keto lifestyle. I feel that because I became fully fat adapted, it made a world of a difference! Before I was struggling to get adapted. Although in ketosis, it was not the same as being keto adapted. Maybe try it again, it may be a life changer for you as well.

For me the Aha moment came when I learned that the way out bodies are designed goes completely against the "guidelines". I started researching why we have cravings and once I learned that I realized why I needed to change. On top of that the fact that our emotions are controlled by our microbiom and learning that eating well actually makes you feel better mentally than those foods that only make you feel good in the moment.

It helped me to sit down and think of my biggest carb traps throughout the day and start there which was breakfast for me. I am a breakfast type of person and it is much easier to make keto friendly lunches/dinners than breakfast because we are just used to have bread or cereals.Think of and prepare a handful of keto breakfasts to avoid the sandwich in the morning. At the beginning I really had to get up approx. 20min earlier to have the time and take the time to have that keto friendly breakfast. I lost 45lbs in 7months which is pretty much what I needed to be back in the normal weight range. I have gone through different breakfast options with time. I started with the famous bacons and eggs, mascarpone heavy cream with berries, in summer I was eating mozzarella cheese and tomato with fresh basil and olive oil, in autumn I was all into keto waffles and now I am back to being lazy in the morning and I developped my own raw egg smoothie recipe which consists of egg yolks, hwc, coconut milk, vanilla and cinnamon, some sugar substitute and my daily Vit D and K2 dose. I make this breakfast smoothie in my Bullet blender in less than 5 minutes and either drink it at once or take it to go with me to work ( I decided to drink raw egg yolks from pasture raised hens on a daily basis because these are very beneficial for brain and nerves - I have MS).
You have to make sure that you have electrolytes at hand when you start going into keto flu. Go get magnesium, potassium chloride (Nu salt) and quality salt like Himalayan or sea salt. Look up "Snake juice" from the Snake diet guy - it is pretty much an electrolyte drink. There are also some other videos for similar electrolyte drinks out there that are keto friendly. It is important to add electrolytes, it will also help your gut to adjust to the keto diet. Good luck :)

I started calling out Tom Bilyeu on the whole Quest bar thing. I’ve eaten some of those Quest Hero berry bars. They’re really delicious. But if I eat more than half my stomach gets kind of gurgly.
I told him that he basically running a giant snack food company. I mean he had this idea to create some energy bars that his mother and sister could eat that would be better than candy bars, or something like that because they’re kind of suffering from obesity. But I think he’s kind of created a Frankenstein‘s monster. Certainly he’s in the business of creating frankenfoods. And I feel bad about it because I really think he’s terrific.
Now he stuck being a super success and having thousands of employees that he has to be responsible for. The ethical thing to do is to not sell the company the ethical thing to do is to actually stop and transition Quest Nutrition into a real food company over the next 3 to 5 years. Of all the bars here it seems the best are the Epic bars which are pretty much actual food.
I don’t think he knew as much about nutrition when he started as he does now. And I’m just at to see if he has what I called his second awakening.

I have the answer for the 13 year old gaining weight. Go to the high school. Volunteer. Hang out to pick up your kid, if you can't volunteer. Somehow you want to be there when the bullying is going down, so you can intervene, as the strong one, and let the kids know your kid is not alone, they are now dealing with you too, who is on your kids side. Your kid is not alone, dealing with this alone. I've done so many interventions for my kids, and they're great now at choosing people in their social circle who are awesome. Unfortunately, when you send your kid to school, you can't control their social environment very much, unless you put yourself there too. Weight is a blessing because it alerts you to the problem, but talking to your kid, asking them to deal with the problem alone, is so unfair. They will resist you helping them, so you have to do it sneaky like. But that's a time in life when you don't understand your parents are your friends.

I've lost substantial weight and gained it back countless times over my 50 plus years, and keto followed, by low carb, is the only way I've ever been able to take weight off AND, more importantly, keep it off. I simply must stay away from simple carbs. If I let myself have a special day like Thanksgiving, I have to get back to low carb the VERY NEXT DAY! I've become so accustomed to the low-carb lifestyle that I can cook low-carb versions or variations on almost anything. But if I eat simple carbs, all bets are off. It's like it sets off cravings and all I can think of is batter fried proteins and donuts and ice cream and sandwiches on chewy white bread with potato chips, etc, etc, ad nauseam. All my favorite restaurants pop uninvited into my brain. Trying to eat high carb, low fat, low cal is equally futile. It makes me hungry and miserable and again, kicks off the carb cravings. So when I come across the inevitable posts and videos whose authors want to scold me for eating high fat/low carb because it's so "bad for me", I ask them, so it's healthier for me to carry around 40 extra pounds? Okay then, shut your trap. ROFL not really but you get my gist.

caloric deficit is essential in losing weight. doesnt matter what diet type you use. surprised she didnt mention that. i like carbs but i keep them at 30% of my macros and as long as im at or below maintenance calories...the weight remains stable or drops.

    • @banparlous2552
      @banparlous2552 5 років тому

KWizzle Caloric deficit means absolute dick. Explain why we have the Glycemic Index then? And Glycemic load? They’re not perfect systems but they are factual. It’s very possible to have a caloric deficit AND not lose any weight if one ate low calorie/ high Glycemic foods that spike your insulin levels. High GI foods stop you from losing weight.
What we’re all finding out is that weight gain, inflammation and diabetes and a whole mess of other chronic diseases (heart, cancer, kidney) are a product of constant abnormal insulin levels which lead to insulin spikes and over time insulin resistance.
It goes beyond just losing weight. It’s about overall health and longevity.

If a boxer named Saul Canelo Alvarez can go to the extent of consuming chemicals given to horses by their trainers before they hit the track, then regular, average people like you and me have no excuses.
Some people just want it more than others.
    That's it.
