Jillian Michaels is Right about the Keto Diet? (Is Keto Dangerous?)

  • The ketogenic way of eating is getting popular, and it may be cutting into the profits of those who have made millions promoting calorie restriction and exercise. Eating lots of healthy fat, moderate protein and very low carbs has helped many people reverse obesity and chronic disease they thought was permanent.
Jillian Michaels is a very famous and successful fitness trainer. She is a great proponent of exercise as a method of weight loss. She was a celebrity trainer on the TV program Biggest Loser for a few years. Wonder why they have never had a Biggest Loser reunion show? Can you guess why?
Calorie restriction is the wrong paradigm for weight loss. The calorie restriction hypothesis of weight loss has been around for 100 years, and yet we somehow still have epidemics of obesity, fatty liver, type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases of diet. Either you are a worthless glutton and sloth, or calorie restriction is a worthless paradigm for meaningful, long-term weight loss.

I’ve been intermittent fasting and cut right back on my carbs to it’s less than 20g per day. I have been testing my ketones with pee strips and all signs are good, it’s purple 👍🏼 yet I’m not losing any weight and I feel so tired all the time! Please can you help me?

Keto is so dangerous and being in Ketosis has such a negative effect on the body that I’ve lost 184 lbs so far on it. And also lost type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, acid reflux, sleep apnea, arthritis, and ton of other ailments. Oh, and I also lost the medication I was on. What did I find when I was doing a high carb diet? Cancer twice! I lost half a breast, a uterus, cervix, Fallopian tubes, and my ovaries. Oh, and let’s not forget the thousands of dollars I lost out of my wallet for the medical expenses it took to remove all of that. Then there was the cost of several rounds of chemo and weeks and weeks of radiation treatments. I Was given a 5 year survival rate and told that I would live long enough to get cancer again. I Thank my lucky stars (really a lot of praying for a miracle) that I found a keto diet after the second cancer diagnosis. Which as been WELL over a decade now. I’ll take keto any day and I’ll take being in Ketosis as a means of staying healthy over “traditional” weight loss advice. If you are reading this and your are feeling horrible, try Keto. What do you have to lose? That is how I felt when I started Keto/Low Carb and I have never regretted a day of it.

I’m 45..I’ve been doing keto and intermittent fasting for over a year and I work out 3 times a week. I was struggling with extremely high estrogen and have Epstein barre. I want to make a point about calorie restriction. I have suffered from severe anorexia for 37 years, and 6 months ago, I went into such severe malnutrition that I needed tube feeding in order to survive, and I was about 40 pounds overweight at the time. For the past 20 years, no matter how severely I was restricting (about 400 cal a day) my weight did not budge AT ALL. I was about 40 pounds overweight, and when I go to treatment, I gain an additional 10 kg. My metabolism is DONE. Of course I say "keto" to my eating disorder treatment team and they all lose their minds...even though they KNOW it can improve my health. Calorie restriction has damaged my body so much. Now I'm going to take responsibility for my own health and recover from insulin resistance

Even after 23 years on Atkins if I were to eat a single grape or cherry it would take me more than a month and ten pounds later to regain control and stop eating fruit! Until I was on Atkins my eating was always out of control! When I was Jillian Michaels age there was no problem with my weight. I only became insulin resistant at about 56. Thank you SO MUCH for making these videos!
I've done Keto before, but eventually gave in to all the pressure of people telling me how extreme and unhealthy it is.
The pressure out there is so systemic, and intense - and that's by design. So many companies make money on your pain & misery. They don't have an interest in your health and happiness.
Then I've put on all the weight I've lost - plus some!
This time around I'm going to play one of your videos each day, to keep me informed and confident in what I'm doing.
    Thank you again! 👍❤️👍

I will always advocate the keto/low carb lifestyle because I have seen first hand how well it works! Back in 2016 I was 273 pounds, high blood pressure, and found out I was a Type 2 diabetic (with an A1C of 10.5). To be honest I was miserable. I had no energy, dizzy all the time, and just flat out hurt. I came home from that appointment and googled "what is the best diet for a diabetic". I did see a lot of places saying the standard ADA diet but then I saw one about keto. Way back in the day I had tried Atkins so I was a little familiar with the concept of low carb. I decided to try it. Within three months I had lost some weight and my A1C had dropped to 5.5! Now here it is 2019 and I'm 130 pounds, all my labs at my last doctor visit were in the healthy range, no more dizziness, a lot of my pain is gone, lots more energy, off blood pressure meds, and my last A1C was 4.9!!!! Now Jillian can say and promote anything she wants but I have to strongly disagree with her because I've seen what works! It has literally saved my life.

2 weeks into eating a keto diet and the thing that shocked me most was how I am not hungry! And the first thing I noticed was the anti-inflammation. I was expecting to feel deprived and starving because that’s all I’ve ever known when starting a diet...and I’m floored with how satisfied I am! I now see why every diet I’ve tried failed...I can only go so long by starving myself!
    My only regret--not starting sooner!

This is why I love the ketogenic way of eating. I am strongly on the Carnivore side of keto but in 4 years I have lost 100 pounds and easily kept it off for the last two of the four years I have been doing this. I am almost 70 and feeling amazing. Fit strong energetic. I see no need to change my way of eating now. I learned my lesson. Carby foods do not play nice with my body. And YES I totally starved ( 700 to 900 calories a day low fat ) myself for years while steadily gaining weight. Thank you for taking the time to post these videos. Calmed my brain on the cholesterol too.

MY PCP told me I should go to a hand specialist and have the end joints of my thumbs removed to stop the pain. EEEKKK I am so not ready for some thing like that. WHAT if it does not work. Chris Pyle yep...I ate SAD foods at around 1000 calories for 12 years....gained a kilo on average each year....so much for calories in calories out...lol
I’m almost back to high school weight of 155.... at 163 now...and I’m gaining muscles in the gym....so I may not even reach 155 and that’s okay with me....my goal is to lose fat....not weight...and my bodyfat percentage has been around 17% down from 22% five months ago....can’t wait to see how,low I can take it on the Carnivore diet....once I finally lose the belly weight I’ll know...39inches down to 35...3-5 more inches to go!
And the emotional stability is amazing on keto/carnivore... I never get swallowed up by my emotions...I can feel them and react to them objectively...and when I’m exercising or moving about....I feel so happy...there is not a pill in the world that can compare!

Mike I think eating this way helps us to stay on a more even keel emotionally. Remember sugar totally causes mood swings as it drops or it sure did for me. Some of my weight gain was I had no medical insurance and could not pay 400 a month with a 5K deductible for insurance so I could not get the thyroid medication I needed. No supplements I tried helped much. People just assume when they see such an overly fat person that we are just stuffing our faces. I could show you on I think it was Fit day for years my tracking calories and my weight going up to the point I just gave up. BUT when the doc said he wanted to put me on diabetics medication once I turned 65 and had medicare I totally freaked out as my half sister and half brother both have it. I told the doc lets see how I do back on my thyroid meds Now thyroid meds do not make a person lose weight but help so many other things when you really need them as my blood work showed I felt better moved more and then first went low carb then very low carb then almost carnivore. Once he saw the weight coming off and my BS was lowered enough he agreed to just wait and see. He is shocked I have lost the 100 pounds. He said I am one of three patients he has had to ever do so and all on my own The others had counseling or a gastric bypass. I weigh what I did in high school. My waist at 230 was 40 inches. It is 27 now. If I had the skin surgery I need I would probably lose a lot more weight but at 70 why bother?? LOL IT has been a journey for sure.

I am now 165 and ripped with a six pack. my blood markers are excellent and blood sugar almost never goes over 100 even after eating. Mental clarity is greatly improved and I wake up feeling like a kid on Christmas morning ready to go. When I was in my 20's (im 46 now).. I was overweight and started a diet and exercise program that had me eating 5 or 6 times a day, lean chicken and rice and small potatoes. I had to do cardio every day to lose weight. I was pre prepping meals and it was insanity. I lost weight because I was killing myself in the gym and even though I was eating frequently, I was always in a calorie deficit. It was not sustainable at all! I eventually gained all the weight back. Flash forward to last January. I started doing Keto (now carnivore) and IF. It has been remarkable for my fitness and health. I lost 30 lbs and I eat from 4pm to 8pm monday through friday. I eat Grassfed organic Ribeyes, wild caught Salmon, uncured, no sugar added bacon, pasture raised eggs and certain Cheeses and yogurts. I reversed my thyroid condition and lost all the fat around my belly. Also it cured my IBS that I've been battling for years. I will never go back to the old way of eating! I eat until I am full and I NEVER get hungry during the day while I'm fasting! I have more mental clarity and sustained energy throughout the day. I don't go to the gym. I do pushups and pullups randomly throughout the week. Im lean and healthy because of my diet. This really works!

I no longer have migraines. My blood pressure is steadily dropping into the normal range. I'm 41 and I feel like I'm 20 again. Everyone, including my doctor, is asking me how I did it. My office at work has two other people now doing keto with me because they see the benefits. My husband is not overweight, but has done keto with me and lost 18.5 pounds in six weeks. He is now at his ideal weight. My daughter, who is not following the keto diet, per say, but eating all the healthier foods in the house and we no longer buy processed carbs foods, has lost 12 pounds and had a total glow up. We love the diet. It's literally saved my life. On Feb 20th, I'm going back to have my 3 mos check up, and I'm hoping my doctor says I can come off metformin. Yes it's a lifestyle change BUT calorie restriction is not sustainable. Because sooner or later, your body will stop loosing weight and start storing fat because it's not getting what it needs to function properly. So that's why people will gain weight back, and then they usually end up binging because they're starving.

Jillian Michael's is a sold out puppet of the evil psychopaths that control our system and want us all obese and diabetic. She is placed in her position to put us in shame and blame mode. They probably give her the good appetite suppressing diet pills they took away from us 20 years ago to keep her thin while they fatten up the rest of us. They love to cause the problem and then shame us for it.

Jetthead18 - Not if they don't follow the Ketogenic eating method ... THAT is the difference! You can't just start thinking you can "add" lots of fats (healthy or otherwise) to your current BAD carb loaded diet and believe you will have a result of either achieving "fat burning ketosis" and/or life healing autophagy[sp?]! Be specific ... because the resulting chemistry on the body are at two ends of the spectrum! Your ambiguous comment is just suspect in the least!

Keto is a fat burning miracle! Stubborn "flat-earther" types like her will go the way of the dinosaurs.

Naturally anyone in business will defend their business model. They have two options...Never adapt and fight to the end and risk being put out of business or adapt and contour their business model to do continue to compete. At this point she isn’t trying to adapt thus will reduce her earnings but she will always have a market share but tremendously less. This happens in any industry.

I would still keep going back would lose again and leave again over and over I did this not to mention the money I spent on membership fees. I learned some good habits, but when I found Keto I was so happy to eat all the things I loved like eggs, bacon, meats, cheese, and many substitutes for what we really love to eat. I love cooking all kinds of recipes. I lost 40 Lbs. At my own pace and feel so good, now my husband and Son have joined me on Keto. I was AST 237 and ALT 511 2 years ago. I met with GI and they had me bouncing around to do so much blood work, then ultrasound, then liver biopsy. For them to simply tell me the good ol cookie cutter diet and exercise that I could have seen on WebMD before I met with these "specialists". I prayed to God for help as I was trying biking exercise bike everyday for 45 minutes full speed and eating what I thought was healthy Vegetable oil and full wheat bread and better rice (o the irony). But I didn't want to fail my wife so I prayed to God as I kept getting worse each lab work no matter what I did including diet restriction and avoiding meats and healthy meat fats (the irony). I sat down and went on UA-cam as these doctors failed me. I found thank God, Dr Berrys honest straight forward true advice. I thought what do I got to lose I tried everything lets do it. I watched the video on the fatty liver and sure enough the oils had to go and sugars in all forms (to include carbs so keto is the diet I am doing!). I repeated lab work 2 weeks ago and my AST is 37! And my ALT is 86!
Man over 400 in improvement in one and over 200 in the other. I lost a ton of weight and feel so much improvement all over my body and no longer tired like before as often and sleep better too and stomach no longer hurts. Doctor your the man.
So humble so many people say to you you saved their life and you so humbly say no I didn't you did I just gave you the advice and you did it yourself. Sir thank you for giving the life saving advice truly from my heart. I know it's how reality television works but they had to have at least one contestant in tears every episode. “They”, whoever they are, are getting scared because so many people are realizing they we are being deceived in regards to health and nutrition. It was shocking to me that at 46 years old and seeing 7 different specialists while constantly gaining weight and seeing my health decline, that not one time did my doctor offer his opinion on my diet/nutrition. It wasn’t until I lost 40 lbs and literally reversed my diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, PCOS, thyroid nodules, severe acid reflux, severe allergic reactions and was off ALL meds that my doctor decided to lecture me on healthy nutrition. Both doctors in the practice got heated and tried to scare me off of keto. All this did was fuel the fire and make me question their motives. When I asked them to explain why they no longer had to treat the many diseases that they had diagnosed me with, if it is so dangerous? They had no answer. I truly wish more people would wake up to these facts.
