I looked up what hydroclonic meant and Google auto corrected it to hydrochronic, which is a specific type of hydroponically grown potent weed. The word that Shaggy said to avoid was Hydrocolonic, which is a colon cleaning. From this we can determine that shaggy learned to avoid the word hydrocolonic the hard way because he thought he was signing up for some weed. Whoever wrote that joke deserves every award possible.

The joke with Pamela is that Scooby Doo used to have random celebrity crossovers that literally never made sense. Most of the time they would just show up and say a thing and then *poof* for the rest of the episode.

If you want to know, it was filmed on Tangalooma / Moreton Island. The rest was filmed in Queensland. Even Movie World made a ride that replicated the spooky castle ride (that actually opened before the movie released globally) called Scooby Doo: Spooky Coaster. It was since been updated with some shit cgi.
I once wrote a story similar to bill Willingham‘s fables, called “the badlands.“ It was going to have all of these creatures from Gothic horror, like Dracula, Frankenstein‘s monster, Dorian Gray etc. [sometimes in tongue-in-cheek situation]. In order for them to hide among regular people, I set this story in a theme park on an island somewhere in the middle of the devils triangle

Billiam has a really great meta-review/analysis of scrappy over the years and shows he was in, I definitely recommend watching it (and all his literal hours of scooby content, the man is on a mission)

For real, this movie and even the cartoon series still holds up and has better storylines and character development than half of the movies made currently. Velma showing women that you can be both super smart AND beautiful, and Daphne showing that you can be strong and fight as well as popular and iconic. Good characters have more than one trait. I'm glad I loved Scooby Doo so much as a kid.

The relationship between the Mystery Gang is exactly how I would imagine them IRL, especially compared to their depictions in the OG cartoon.

I have honestly never seen a better cast for a live action movie like this. From their mannerisms, to their voices, they really knocked it out of the park and thats why these are the best live action cartoon movies ever. There will never be another that can match the smoke of this masterpiece
My favorite parts of the OG live action Scooby movie are how they hinted at Scooby and Shaggy being stoners & especially Scrappy being the villain I always knew he was.
I Googled the cast because I really never realized that they didn't ever say the name of the dude Velma was flirting wit the whole time and turns out he is credited as 'Velma's friend' 😂 They couldn't even give the character a name but y'all could give Carol a name she had two lines 😭

7:11 Actually there is an irl Scooby Doo roller coaster that's kinda based off the Closed Creepy Castle/Haunted House scene from this film (haven't actually been on it myself yet since it's always closed/got a ridiculous wait time lol) - The Coaster itself can be found over at Warner Bros Movie World, QLD Australia; and next to the Superman coaster (which may/may not hold a record for being a Really Fast Coaster), remains one of the park's most Iconic rides/attractions to this day (that is, if Covid hasn't messed with it perminantly..)

I literally never understood the monsters motivations or the training video. I was a dumb, dumb child
I think the training video was to help the monsters acclimate to human society so no one would know they were monsters and then ruin Scrappy’s plans. Obviously it wasn’t that good of a training video because the monster who took over Carol’s body legit THREW a man across the beach so….. 😂😂😂 and as for the monsters and their motivations I don’t think they had one. I think Scrappy was going to rule the world with them as his wingmen so I don’t believe the monsters were motivated for anything except following orders
This movie actually had the absolute perfect casting. Everyone not only naturally looks like their characters but they portray them masterfully

No idea why, but every memory of this movie is attached to the song "It wasn't me" and therefore every time I hear that song, I think of this movie and specifically Velma. I would have sworn on my life "it wasn't me" was played during the credits, but apparently I'm super wrong and therefore should be dead.
These two movies are two of my favorites from when I was a kid. Mystery Inc. was so perfectly cast. Especially my two favorite human characters: Matthew Lillard as Shaggy and Linda Cardellini as Velma.
Not even the creators liked scrappy, they even make a joke in Mystery Inc. that his name should never be said.
Daphne getting caught was a deleted scene. She encountered demon-Velma and was caught by Lucha Man

You know when you watch a movie from your childhood when you're an adult and it is just bad?
This movie still slaps EVERYTIME 😍
I love how faithful this movie was. It had everything that was in the Scooby-Doo shows.
From subtle mentions of marijuana, goofy slapstick, Scooby snacks- not to mention the famous lines, 'my glasses!' , 'I would've gotten away with it too it weren't for you meddling kids', 'Scooby-Doo, where are you?', 'jinkies' and 'puppy power!'. Hell, they even added in Scrappy-Doo. The forgotten one of the bunch and he was included.
I barely watched any of Scooby-Doo as a kid so I can't say this hits me on a personal level but In can say, it's easy to tell when the creators of a reboot care about the source material and when they don't. And this one adores the original show loud and clear
If you ask me the way to watch the Scooby-Doo movies is to watch the second one first and then the first one. The reason I say this is because the second one has, you know, monsters that we all know and love from the cartoon and takes place in the same setting as the cartoons but the first one introduces a new place and a new villain made only for that particular movie. Although the second one does add a new villain it still has a lot of monsters from the cartoon. Plus in the first one the mystery gang has a big falling out and breaks up which would be perfect for the second one because and the second one they don't do that they stick together and work together the whole movie. This sets up they're okay and then you're the second one they have a big falling out and I'm getting back together at the end. When looking at it this way it makes perfect sense but looking at the way the movies are made you're kind of lost because for a lot of kids the movies for their introduction to Scooby-Doo and in the very first movie to have a big falling out but the kids who are just watching for the first time have no clue what what the gangs dynamic is like and how long they work together because they don't have the history of the cartoons to look back on. That's just a few reasons why I say watching part 2 and then part 1 is the way it should go. You have something recognizable then we all know and love for the first one and then something new for the second one allowing people that are new to Scooby-Doo to understand the gangs dynamic following people who know Scooby-Doo from the cartoons to get the nostalgic feeling that it's supposed to give.
This movie was SO underrated. My sister and I got the same level of entertainment out of it when it first released. I was a high school senior and she was in early elementary. This is proof you can make a cartoon live action and do it well. This is also when I first fell in love with Linda Cardellini.

Also only ever saw Shaggy as Matthew Lillard, don't think anyone else could have done Shaggys character that well

The fact that this movie is also a spoof of late 90's teen scary movies with the actors having appeared on iconic movies such as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer
The song in the van scene was “pass the dutchie” which is slang for a blunt, but the song also talks about not having food. Also, James Gunn confirmed there’s an R rated cut of Scooby doo as well

Well you can see more Daphne fight scenes in Scooby 2 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Just take some orange tinted glasses with you and she is kicking ass practically all 120+ episodes.

I actually remember like Kellogs or something making actual scooby snax and they were dog bone shaped biscuits that tasted like cinnamon and ginger, they were really good
