The problem i had with this is the level saves ALL progress... so it's impossible to play without restarting levels, so very limited equipment, or without, but with very limited health. EDIT and as far as missing stuff.... you know that game has points and unlockable attacks? xD

Rise of Sin Tzu... now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time...
It seems that like everyone at first you didn't figure out the Progessively unlocked Special combat moves you can perform with that stamina bar under the health bar by holding down a combination of buttons then releasing them after 1-2 seconds, you can find the combos in the pause menu its just hold then release, it's really one of the best features of the game.
Watching your gameplay I realised that you don't use special moves These things are really useful in combat You press a combination of buttons at the same time to do one of these moves You unlock them as you progress in the story and that yellow bar under the player's health bar is the bar for special move Depending on the damage that the special move inflicts on an enemy the bar will drop You can fill it again by punching and kicking enemies and it fills up fast I remember when I discovered this as a kid I was shocked because i played batman vengeance alot when I was young and the game didn't tell the player what is this whole special moves thing
Just made the same comment as you after watching the video and now saw yours after a refresh, Felt the same shock back then I had finished the game maybe 3 times and when I came back to it a year later and discovered the moves it was soooooo cool and felt really powerful.
@@samuelgallegos5107 That game legit looks just like the real world sometimes I swear, makes you wonder just how crazy GTA VI is going to be when it finally releases. The world of gaming will change forever come the end of this year or early to mid next year.
The sewers in the Lizard missions of Spider-Man 3 on the PS3 always creeped me out lol, especially since I got stuck on the second Lizard mission, had to try over and over again. The creepy ambience and all those people who got turned into lizards constantly coming after me freaked my 7 year old ass right the hell out, had to take long breaks between attempts.
Ubisoft used to have a pretty stellar record in the 2000s. Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy, Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, Splinter Cell. Their reputation fell off hard in the recent years, but they had a lot of good stuff.
I played this game so much as a kid, it's good! A bit clunky for modern standards but still fun. I remember 2 roadblocks I faced as a kid. In the Joker boss fight he tackles you to the ground and starts hitting you. For the life of me I couldn't shake him off, like my keyboard inputs didn't work. So him jumping on me meant I lost the fight. And 2 - after Mr Freeze boss fight he freezes you and you have to mash left and right arrows to free yourself but I didnt figure it out for a long time and thought I lost and had to load the save file. Other than that I got so many fond memories
I remember this game. I was only 15 when it came out and shall we say, less experienced with gaming. I don't remember much about it beyond rescuing Harley Quinn from a fall, and then I got stuck on a train level. It was so new at the time I couldn't even find a walkthrough for it, the only guide I could find ended halfway through the train level I was stuck on. I never did get to finish it, but I remember enjoying it
I played this the same day I got my PS2 in HS and it took me a couple years to finally be patient enough to beat it in college & I bought “Rise of Sin Tzu” shortly after & beat it easily with my old roommate playing along but I don’t remember it as fondly as I did Vengeance. With that said, play it & post it please 🙏🏽
My first console was the Gamecube and the three games my parents got for me with it were Batman Vengence, Spongebob BFBB and Spider-Man 2. For 6 year old me this game was difficult. Maybe I should finally complete it.
EXCELLENT video about an underrated classic! It was a weird time to be a Batman fan in the early 00s, especially since the cinematic Batman series was all but dead after Batman & Robin. But I did have my Gamecube, and would you believe that there was a whopping FOUR Batman games on it? Batman Vengeance Batman: Dark Tomorrow Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu Batman Begins I played the absolute HECK out of Vengeance, and loved its surprisingly dark storyline and extremely varied levels. I feel like its biggest contribution to what would become the Arkham games is its cape gliding mechanic, which would be copied in Batman Begins as well! Of the two you haven't played: Rise of Sin Tzu is clearly the direct sequel to Vengeance, although like you mentioned it fundamentally changes up the whole game design to be a two player arcade-style beat em up. It can be fun but it's not nearly as varied or interesting as Vengeance. And then "Dark Tomorrow" is absolutely the one that people refer to when they say "Batman games sucked prior to Arkham Asylum". What a broken mess of a game, though there's still so many interesting aspects of it! It has absolutely gorgeous cutscenes and an incredible soundtrack, and tells a great Batman story that's actually based on the comic book universe instead of a particular movie or TV series! I'd love to get your thoughts on that one, though I'm going to warn you that gameplay-wise it's an epic disaster :P There's a Gamecube and an Xbox version--I had the Gamecube version. And from what I hear, the Xbox version is even worse so definitely play the Gamecube version if you can.
Most likely all of the physics and speed problems were related to your FPS, not the refresh rate. Games of that era were bound to 30 fps target, and anything above that would just speed up/glitch. Great video btw :)
Man, hearing you say that you had never heard of this game makes me feel so old. Lol I begged for this game for my Xbox when I was a kid and I loved it so much.q
7:16 so funny thing is that with a lot of older pc ports they never really had framerate caps despite certain glitches to the game occurring if getting over 60 fps. with web of shadows time challenged are completely broken when getting over 60 fps, and lego batman and the assassins creed games have many similar glitches as well. if you lock your refresh rate to 60hz and then turn on vsync to the game through nvidia control panel it could maybe help with these issues? but i could also be totally pulling this out of my ass because ive never played this game before and the issue could be completely different lol
I only accidentally discovered this game has Power Moves on my third playthrough when I was 12, makes combat significantly easier in late game. That's what the yellow bar that fills up during combat is for
I just played this game on PC. It translates the Bruce Timm art style to 3d so good, but the controls are awful. It needs a remaster mainly to improve controls so it can be more enjoyable. Also having to switch from 3rd person to 1st person view is so annoying - we should have been able to turn the camera in 3rd person and look around freely.
1:22 I like older games though there's something about the nostalgia of it especially when old game gets a remastered like the turok trilogy which I just downloaded and started playing the first game of so good same with the thing remastered
I still remember this. There's this level I can't climb have no idea to, then suddenly I accidentally press B then batman floating and I managed to get through the crate lmao.
I really love this game. Took me forever to beat it as a kid I didn’t understand the handcuffs so they keep getting back up while I ran around lost however not knowing I had special attacks. Was stuck at the sewers forever lol.
One issue I've noticed, apart from PC forcing mouse controls in first person and having no mappable pause button, is the graphics are really blown out in some key areas because the game is 90% gray.
Most of the glitches, like the lasers, helicopter etc. caused by the fps. Back then there were no game engines like now that could do extra calculations for them. They made the lasers to turn x degree every 30 or 25 frame (probably) so if you have 200 frame it will turn a lot. There you have it, I tried to explain it as simple and fast as possible.
I’ll need to check this Batman game out. P.S. I loved Prince of Persia the Lost Crown and it got me to go back and play the older PoP games. Sands of Time was also done by Ubisoft Montreal too and its combat system is very reminiscent of what the Batman Arkham games would do years later.
When the Arkham franchise came out, people hailed it as the first great Batman game. I was confused because Batman actually had some pretty good games up to this point such as Begins, Vengeance and even 89 Batman on Super Nintendo. Same for Spiderman with the ps4 game, he had plenty of great games like Spiderman 2, web of shadows and such.
So, this game in particular was actually built for console, and later pushed over to pc - an issue that makes its wacky controller support on PC much stranger. This was normal until some years after Steam came out. The game functioning at all is incredible if you're accustomed to old PC programs requiring effort to boot and then get working - Sonic Adventure, GTA trilogy originals, any other game requiring non-preinstalled DirectX redistributables or interference from outside programs will give you an taste of the problems.
My third comment on this video - I'm basically spamming for the alg at this point. Two strategies I learned is to press the "disengage" button immediately on entering a fight and just keep moving, or just crouch to evade attacks. Also, I think the colored wire puzzle is unsolvable - I've never seen a playthrough where the explosion wasn't triggered, even on 100% runs.
This game was my shit as a kid. I feel like I remember using gadgets to take down enemies a little more than melee combat but might be misremembering. Also, figuring out how to take out mr freeze took me days.
Let's do that Batman: rise of game. It was beautifully done and I have amazing memories of it. My boxed version even came with a cheap Nightwing figure. But it was for my birthday so I was extra hype!!

I bet the issue with the lasers & helicopter is more a problem with Direct X/11/12 I’ve had weird things like that happen in other original Xbox ports.
I'm surprised you found out about theses games there was 3 batman games on ps2 well so far I actually have the original disc for rise of sun tzu and Batman begins, I had vengeance, but it broke when I was like 12. *28 now*
I prefer 3rd person action-adventure games like Vengeance, but The Rise of Sin Tzu is easier to control and a bit more pleasant to play, despite being a more repetitive beat-em-up game. + It can be played with friends which is cool.
And people say Batman had bad games before the Arkham came along WRONG!! Batman was right up there with Spider-Man when it comes to great games like theses
Might be pointless to do this now and not sure if you've tried it for the lasers, but a problem with older games is that animation isn't all that adapted to high frame rate as they mainly try to aim at a flat 30fps. Something worth doing when it comes to older games. Games are tend to be coded to move objects based on frame rate or game physics
