1979 Puch Magnum Project Part 16 - Trail Tech

- Installing a Trail Tech on my Puch Magnum, It's a bit modern for a 35 year old bike but I liked that better than having the original speedometer plus several different gauges mounted to the bike.
Treatland sell the Trail Tech -
www.treatland.tv/trail-tech-v...
and I got the protector from Amazon
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000...
The diagram of the part for the mount will only work with the aluminum protector, hole spacing is different if you just use the display without it.
The speed sensor needs changing, I have about 2mm of chain adjustment before the sensor would hit the rear suspension mount. I will have to remake something that attaches directly to the axle. Will be a better solution as it doesn't require drilling and tapping of the drum brake and the wheel can be removed with the sensor still attached.
The bolt that I attach to the wheel is just a stock bolt that had a magnet epoxied to it (roughed up both surfaces), and then some heat shrink put around the outside. My camera decided to stop recording after 3 seconds of that bit so it isn't shown. - Навчання та стиль
Best Puch build on the web! Wish it never ended!
Hello Friend! As a child, very poor, I had a friend who got one father Puch. When I saw him going on the bike I was impressed. I went to his house to see the bike and it was love at first sight. But he never let me pilot it, and this was one of the biggest frustrations of my life. Growing up, I had many motorcycle models, but that "Puchinha" stuck in my memory forever. Vc is to be congratulated for all the work applied to your bike; I watched all of your videos with your eyes glued to the monitor, and I recommended it to my friends. Hug from Brazil!
hey man, i grew up poor as dirt too ( single mother...) she sent me to live with my dad as i was "acting up" lol! dad was ok for money.... he got me a frig minty 1978 kawi ke 175 ! i was 12... i dang near croaked..... i used to play catch with my brother using our ball caps for gloves..... best times ever on that bike.... course, dad kicked me out when i was 15 lol, doing it my way ever since.... i now rip a 2003 rm250 ! God bless, never give up, never back down !

wow, that was so good. you are a great engineer. would love to see more projects. love the style of the videos with no talking or stupid music just all visuals. learned a lot . excellent .
Great video. Shot and edited very well, too!
WOW! SO PROFESSIONAL! CONGRATUALATIONS!
Enjoyed your video seemed a little complicated for a magnetic speedo but I guess with the rev counter which I guess has is heat shielded pretty trick.....cool
Parabéns linda moto .
Nice fab work.
Nice project all the way up and very nicely done. Do you plan working again on the Honda ST90 ?
Thanks. Unfortunately I sold the ST90 a while back, I ended up adding up the cost of some parts it needed and it was too expensive - and that wasn't all of the stuff it needed either.
ah well.... Would be nice to see you make wonders in a restoration project tho
good morning I have a 1979 yamaha TT 500 WITH POINTS and the techs at trail tech tell me they don't have a vapor for such bike cause it causes lots of electrical noise can you comment on this issue and how you did it
Wow, this build was amazing to watch. Just curious, what cylinder head temps were you seeing with your Trail Tech? ie after a hard run and normal running.
active16bits Usually hovered between 275 and 325 F. I still dont have the jetting finalized so they could go up.
+n1bpd 120$ ?
Trailtech has lower profile speed sensors that will work better and leave room for chain adjustment.
Thanks, I'll have to look into that.
Nice add on. Will it work on other machines?
You can put them on pretty much anything with a little bit of work, but they also sell kits specifically for more common bikes like CRF's etc that nearly bolt right on.
What brand of mill are you using and the program controlling it.
It's a Grizzly G0704 Mill (same as the BF20 Mills), made by Wiess in China. The software is Mach3. I did a few videos about converting it over to CNC.

How much money did you put in the The into the puck
Excellent job👍👍👍
I didn't really keep track - probably for the best.
Money cost your to were finished on the puck ???
was this a universal kit?
I believe its the 75-2012
This mystery man is clearly not a hand model.
shit is legit!
can you upload another video of you driving it in finished condition?
There will likely be a Part 17 where I put a new clutch in it. I have a Trickmetric Hammer V2 clutch, but am waiting for spring when it will be warmer before I finish that video off with a driving bit at the end.
There is a driving clip at of it at around 10 minutes in part 14, other than lights, neater wiring and the trail tech it's mechanically the same as by the end of part 16.
Here's the link for that (should start at the right point).

Will be a bit faster from a stop with the higher rpm engaging Hammer clutch.
alright, looking forward to the video

I just have a regular 9-5 office job.
