Just wanna say as a lifelong fan, you're the only person on youtube who actually notices the details in these songs and appreciates them as much as the fans do. Thanks!
Wow, thank you!! Can't tell you how much I appreciate this comment, I'm glad you're such a big fan of the videos. I LOVE discovering new music and this channel has become a great outlet for that. I appreciate all of you that view the videos and give me more suggestions ❤️
@@mollyesanborn
This was the last Korn album with the original lineup (Jonathan Davis, Munky, Head, Fieldy, David Silveria) after this album Head, the guitarist left the band, and after the next, the drummer David left too. Head came Back in 2014 for their album Paradigm Shift and since then hes been a part of the band again. However, David never came back and since their 2010 album Korn III: Remember Who You Are they have Ray Luzier as a drummer.
Yeah, I'm really curious to hear how their next few albums are going to sound with all of the band member changeups.
@@mollyesanborn the next albums aren't the best ones but there are ok.However i think that from serenety of suffering until now they got back on track, exception being The path of totality which is awesome despite the hate that had received Still they have been around since 1994 and they keep making good music.
@@silentgamer983 they came back sooo hard on Serenity of suffering and the Nothing. Paradigm was really good to. That's when head comes back
@@silentgamer983 Interesting. I think they've been on a hot streak since Brian came back. SYOTOS and PTT were bad, but untitled and RWYA were good but forgettable.
Of course everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but they'll never be able to recapture the style they had during their prime years no matter how much others may want it. That's just band progression.
@@hermunkulus a lot of their stuff without Head was very good. Lots of ppl didn't even listen to it but love to shit on it.
Personally a song that I feel is very underrated is “Here it Comes Again”. I think it’s amazing and just doesn’t get enough recognition
Here it comes again! AGAAAAIN! Here it comes again! AGAAAAIN! Great.
Counting on me as well. That's a banger
Yes! This song is in my top 3 in their whole discography, I frickin love it 🤘
Me too!! I love how atmospheric the verses then the chorus is so heavy. Then also the way it breaks down towards the end then explodes into WHYYY I CAN'T HOLD ON
Love it heavy great groove
This album is for Korn like All hope is gone is for Slipknot. Great albums underreated by their own bands. Korn self titled, Issues and Take a look in the mirror are my favourites.
All Hope is Gone was Joey's fav Knot album, which is all the vindication I need for loving the shit out of that record
"Did My Time" is in my Top 5 KoRn songs, just a really powerful song overall. I can't wait for you to check out See You On The Other Side, there are some really underrated tracks on that album. After you listen to See You On The Other Side, you should check out the 7 minute music video for "Twisted Transistor".
It's one of the best music videos ever made imo, I have such fond memories watching that music video every morning on MTV before school. Good times! Great reaction as usual Molly! 🤘🤘🤙🤙
Glad you enjoyed the video! Did My Time is a great track, it's honestly still hard for me to pick a favorite from this album. There are a lot of really good ones. I'm looking forward to See You On The Other Side next!
I swear I saw the music video for Did My Time with the Tomb Raider thing on MTV a hundred times! Definitely one of the songs that really got me into Korn.
Absolutely LOVE ‘Take A Look In The Mirror’. ‘Let’s Do This Now’ is my all-time favorite KoЯn song. 😎
To my mind this was the fully matured sound of Korn. All the previous albums were infantile and ranged through adolescence. This is a band that knows who they are, what they do and fully embraced what they are good at, all lessons learned. A very good album for the band in my opinion.
The song Alive is actually one of the first Korn songs it’s on they’re demo tape ‘neidermeyer's mind’. He free style it.
TY for sharing this info! NM is too unknown as common knowledge. I have the cass tape signed copy by the band, Ray instead of David. And Fieldy was impressed to see it, said he hadnt seen it in forever. It's one of my most prized possessions :)
@@jinjerman4903 wow that cool you have the tape. I believe there only a small amount of coots out there. They handed out copy’s back in the day when they play shows in Huntington Beach.
Fun fact Molly: Alive, is actually an older KoRn song from 1993, 10 whole years from this album's release, and it's actually the demo for Need To off the self titled
No it isn't. Alive and Need To are entirely different songs.
@@DeadPixel1105 Need To was made from Alive, which is why the chorus, lyrics aside, is the same. Not to mention the demo version of Alive has a kind of similar structure to Need To and also include the post chorus section in Need To (unlike the version from TALITM). So yes, Alive (the 1993 version) is the demo of Need To. It has changed a lot but there's still lots of similarities.
I noticed that throughout the Korn albums you have reviewed so far, sometimes you point out things that remind you of their debut album. You might be interested to know that the song Alive was written back then when then they were doing their debut album. I’m not sure whether or not you remember the song Need To from their first album, but Alive is sort of like the original version of Need To. There is a demo version of Alive you can listen to on UA-cam. So the song Alive was sort of re-worked to become the song Need To. If you look at them like side-by-side and compare them to the demo version of Alive, you can kinda see where certain parts of Alive became Need To. The chorus is most prominent, it’s like the same instrumentation Jonathan is singing over. There’s actually a few videos on UA-cam recorded by fans who saw them live when they did a tour for the 20th anniversary of their debut album, where they were performing Need To, and kinda takes you by surprise by swapping out one of the choruses in Need To and sings the Alive chorus instead. For a person like me who loves both of those songs, it’s a really cool surprise.
I remember, Alive was on a B-Side of an original version of Blind which is totally different, it's longer and crazier, worth a listen too!
Alive is its own song, it was their demo Neidermayers Eye. That's not saying they didn't reuse parts of it for need to.
Need To is not a reworked version of Alive. As Steve said: Alive is its own song entirely. No connection to Need To at all.
Yeah! This is my favourite Korn album, actually. It hits the gas and keeps going all the way. It doesn't get much love, though, I think. Possibly because it followed Untouchables, which was quite acclaimed for being varied.
Dude totally agree with you! Best álbum by far and definitely my favorite one!
I agree with you, that’s my favorite album too cause it has so strong bass and so heavy sound that none in they other albums
Korn is def the band I look forward to most to see you go through their catalog
Did My Time is one of, if not, their best song tbh. And it's harder to find a bigger Korn fan than me :) Love your feedback and reactions!
I absolutely love this series
Looking forward to the rest of the albums. Things get more interesting from the next album onwards for better or worse
Glad you're enjoying the videos! Can't wait to hear what else Korn is gonna bring...
Did My Time never gets old.
Kind of an underrated album from these guys, I think. I was always really into this one. It's not "Untouchables," but it's pretty solid.
THE ONE I WAS WAITING FOR! Especially because of Counting On Me... this song means a lot to me, it's actually much more, the song of my life! My favourite part of Counting On Me is when I feel like the guitar cries as from 4:10 of the track, it gets more sad yet... one is reaching his/her conclusion, resolved... unstoppable, nothing left to lose. Glad you found it fantastic and enjoyed the overall album! Love your genuine reactions! Can't wait for the upcoming ones! 🤘^^
I love that you're rolling through all my favorite bands albums 🤘
What a coincidence
I was listening to Take a look in the mirror on loop for the last few days and then yt showed me this video
"Counting on me" is one of my favorite tracks too and in fact the whole album is a masterpiece
This is their heaviest but also their funkiest album. The slap bass is upfront way more than in previous albums and the way the drums sound and how David plays is very groovy and almost funky too, but with the agression mixed in.
Definitely in my top 3 favorite Korn albums! They never let up, its nonstop heavy!
Korn covered Jingle Bells, and Kidnap The Sandy Claws ( from Nightmare Before Christmas ) you can check them out. ( remember those fun songs from my childhood, they were pretty cool )
Also See You On The Other Side includes a song called Tearjerker, lol. ( it's not always there, you might want to make sure it is )
Enjoyed the video
Thanks to your videos I've learned the word quirkiness :)
It hurts my brain to realize this album came out almost 20 years ago!
That's my favorite KoRn Album. It has just this specific dark tone that resonated with me alot as a teenager. They also have many good melodies in this one.
I love this album. One of my favourites! 🤘🤘🤘
This is my favorite album of the band, I love your reactions, I don't speak English but it entertains me to see you XD and yes, I used the translator
I enjoy your personality so much and your takes on all my favorite albums. For some reason you choose all my favorite artists and albums. Thank you. I’m still waiting for that blind melon first album reaction from you. It’ll change your life I promise
I remember when this album came out like it was yesterday, critics and old school korn fans trashed it relentlessly. In hindsight its the end of the original line up and definately not their worst work.
I remember feeling disappointed when this album came out. But over time it started to grow on me. Still not their best album, but its a lot better than some of their later stuff.
That's interesting to hear. For me, this was the last Korn album that I liked and, depending on the day you ask me, is my favorite album of theirs. Tied with Issues. I liked their Unplugged Album released in 2007 too but every studio release I've heard after this one I've either hated (See You On The Other Side) or thought was kind of boring and uninteresting to listen to (Untitled, their latest release whatever it's called, etc).
@@Rongaryen It was one of my faveroute albums aswell which is why i remember the backlash so well. Id say issues and follow the leader would be their best for me.
oh hell yeah, i remember getting this when it came out
i also remember the gnarly animated video for Right Now that was crazy gory lmao
great review! i really liked Counting on Me as well, also Did My Time because it was out for about 4 months before the albums release because it was on the soundtrack & had a music video for the 2nd Tomb Raider movie
I'll have to check that video out!
@@mollyesanborn when you do, keep in mind that they actually aired it on Mtv at 3 in the morning on Headbangers Ball lol
I love this band and it's very difficult to list a top korn album for me, but this would definitely be in the top 2 of my favorites, I love the energy of each song, and "Did my time" and "Counting on me" are some of my favorite songs, great job molly, I'm waiting for your analysis to see you on the other side album.
Really? This was the last album I actually bought. I completely lost interest in them after this and untouchables. I still love Deep Inside though. Great song
As always enjoying your reviews!
Good times!! :) I look forward to the next KoRn album!
Awesome Video.. It's definitely one of their heaviest and one of my all time fav records. The next one is quite heavy too.
It's cool that with your videos I can touch songs that I've been listening for a very long time and find something new for myself
Loved the reaction molly. In my humble opinion this is one of there best albums. When will this end and counting on me are beautiful, powerful and emotional songs that really hit me in my feels. Keep up the great work molly.🤘😎
Well done! 🤟Yah the bass is intense in this one 😅Prepare for a roller coaster of styles from here up to Serenity of Suffering haha.
We need the next KoЯn album please…. ❤️❤️❤️
Next video... stay tuned ;)
@@mollyesanborn Thank you. I love watching you go through KoЯns progression. Can you maybe do Johnathan Davis and the SFA live? And the Album Black Labyrinth By Johnathan Davis. Please please please🫶🏼
I'll keep those in mind too!
yesss i was so excited for this
Yall Want a Single was Korn's answer to the studio wanting a more radio friendly song from them and them a saying F all that. The funny thing was the song still was put on the radio but the radio stations edited it with "Yall want a single, OOF that!" Lol
Hey Molly,
I Stumbled across your UA-cam channel a few days ago and I've been extremely happy I found you.
We both have very very similar music taste. I have actually never listened to albums like Saturday night wrist by deftones until I heard them via on of your reviews, and it's such a great album! THANK YOU!
Even with this album review of KoRn I rediscovered an old KorN song I listened to when I was 13 and havent heard it again until watching this review.
This is an amazing channel! Before I go I have a few bands I recommend you check out.
The Black Queen
Gunship
Zeta
I especially think you will like The Black Queen :)
Love this album! 😆 In my top 3 for sure
Amazing Review, Great Band!
I love Fieldy's Bass tone but moreso with this album, it's so forward in the mix.
I dig this album very much! Okay, let’s do it! I am all ears😉
Yeah, it's awesome! I loved how heavy Korn went with their sound on this one. Hope you enjoy the video :)
Also fun fact the track Alive was a song that didn't make it on the first album you can find it on their demo album Neidermayer's Mind, I believe they reworked that song for the first album and that became the song Need To
it's actually pretty obvious because both songs have the same chorus
I always thought Nas did the best with Korn as far as guest appearances go. His rap style fit the best
I think you would enjoy Maximum The Hormone, specifically their album Buiikikaesu. It is in my top 3 albums of all time and it blends genres like crazy. They sound a lot like Korn, Incubus and System Of A Down, mixed with 10 other genres. It is THE definitive Alternative metal album imo.
Did My Time was one of the first Korn songs I ever heard as a kid. I saw the music video on the Lara Croft: Cradle of Life DVD and it was some of the darkest, heaviest music I'd ever heard. This album honestly is not one of my favorites, but I have a lot of nostalgia for that song. Really liking the album reactions, and looking forward to your thoughts on the next couple of records.
You ever hear the Greyed Out Mix of DMT?
A bit on Nas (pronounced Nahs) - he's a legendary rapper from New York, consistently listed as one of the greatest rappers ever. His debut album Illmatic is a masterpiece and basically considered a rap bible at this point. He's also well-known for having a rap battle/feud with Jay-Z in the early 2000's, where they traded insults with each other on several songs.
The whole album is among the rawer and heavier of theirs. I love almost every track equally but the last explosion in "I'm done" alway got me with its melodic vocals
Track 9 Alive is one of the first tracks Korn composed with the original line up back in 1993. They played it few times live but the track did not made it onto the self titled album. Since Take a look into the mirror was their fist attempt to bring back old school vibe, Alive was remastered/recomposed in this album's sound and here we are.
Underrated album!
Definitely an under appreciated album from them, it was a very hard time for the band and you can hear it, but they managed to come out with one of my personal top 10 albums.
Hey Molly
I really like your reactions, on albums like slipknot st, korn st, soad st. I’ve loved those albums for many years and watching you react to them freshly brings a new perspective to the way I see it, and sometimes I pick up on new things that you bring up. I was wondering if u can react to sepultura roots album.
Oh that's so awesome to hear! Glad you're enjoying the videos. Roots by Sepultura is very high up on my list, I'm hoping to get to a reaction to that one soon as a lot of people have been requesting I check it out :)
@@mollyesanborn great, and you should consider listening to the songs war, and mine. They aren’t on the album for some reason but they are on the expanded version
i havent listened to this album from start to finish in a very long time and i must say watching this i feel like i underrated this album. this shit sounds great haha. It also makes me miss Fieldy's bass. i feel like its taken a slight back seat in their most recent albums.
Would love to see you listen to the guitarists “HEADS” other band “love and death”
Make sure you listen to the See You On the Other Side bonus tracks. I rate a few higher than some of the songs on the album.
WOOO, another KoRn vid! Yes, KoRn did use some funk elements, little blues also
"Play Me" pretty underrated imo, i find Nas' vocals do a lot to carry the groove
This album is full of great tracks. I've always liked the production too. Raw and heavy.
Take A Look In The Mirror is the most bass focused album Korn has, Fieldy stands out in this album more than any other which is good because he is great with it. See You On The Other Side is more riff focused, and a lot of their best songs and riffs are in that album imo, have fun listening to it!
I would say Serenity of Suffering the bass sounds incredible as well
My first Korn album I got, listened to it all the time in 7th grade. Damn I feel old now.
Those bass🔥🔥🔥
I remember those videoclips by Korn. The one from "Did my time" starred Angelina Jolie in it and the dirty guy in " Right now". MTV did it anyway.
I really hope you will also react to Untitled by Korn. Such an underrated album.
PS: You should also do Linkin Park and Nirvana reactions, that would be amazing:D
I love Untitled
Find you someone who looks at you the way Molly looks when the beat drops.
One of their best albums.
This is the Korn album I listened to on repeat. Did My Time was a single and song to the movie Tomb Raider. The music video is very cool. The combination of all of that was what got me into buying the album.
Thanks for this trip down memory lane. The darkness and grittyness was what pulled me in. The previous albums and the next albums were too funky or too fancy for my personal taste but Take A Look In The Mirror is near a perfect album in my opinion. Also the story behind Y’all want a single is great. It is explained in the music video. Make sure to check out the official video uncensored version. (the official version is hilarious but not as powerful.)
Ok, that’s it. Thanks for this reaction. I enjoyed it a lot.
Brooo such an underrated korn album. Right up there with follow the leader for me. Im not the typical fan though ill admit
The song "Need To" from their debut album is actually a reworked/changed version of "Alive" despite Need To being released almost ten years before Alive
Yes
Back to my 1st year of high school in 2003 😍🤩😋
Esse definitivamente é o melhor álbum da banda juntamente com o álbum de estreia (2 obras primas na minha opinião)! Issues fica com a terceira posição!
É um bom top 3! Pra mim, se fosse ranquear top 3 álbuns: Korn primeiro álbum, Take A Look In The Mirror e Follow The Leader
How have you not done Coheed, yet? They'd be right up your alley
I got this record for Christmas last year when I was at peak KoRn-mania (not to say I love them less now) and I loved it to bits. I like that it continues the more heavy rock than metal streak Untouchables started, and it's for sure one of their more energetic albums. I don't know that there's one standout song, if there is it's probably Counting on Me, an unabashed examination of dark feelings in a toxic relationship, and I guess it drags a little bit because it's a bit samey, but the general hate this record seems to get despite the fact that I've never heard of anyone disliking it is unfathomable. The basslines are the most dynamic they've been since Life is Peachy, Right Now is a great opener, Everything I've Known is great, Y'all Want a Single makes me laugh a lot, I used to really love Play Me cos the instrumentals are cool and Nas' flow is really sick but he's saying some not very nice things about gay and trans people, so it's a good thing I don't give a fuck what Nas is talking about. It's also a great exercise album start to finish, which is a rare thing. Unfortunately the next chronological album is maybe my least favourite album by a band whose existence I'm willing to acknowledge, which isn't to say you won't enjoy it Molly, you're always great at picking out the positives.
Hello, Just found your channel, I love korn and your reactions are great :) At one album reaction per month, By my calculations you will react to my favorite korn song "cold" on The nothing in 2023 lol :( subscribed and waiting keep it up!
I can listen to Everything I've Known all day without getting bored, perfect album
Hell Yeah!
By the time KoRn 94' was my favourite album, but Take A Look To The Mirror becomes has the place now. I'm a huge fan but personal opinion here, 'Counting On Me' is the best.
The mix is great, Fieldy bass on point, dark vibes. I don't know, it's an after and before of the band, like previous comments says about Head and Silveria departure. The last album with the whole band. I hope someday watch your review of The Serenity of Suffering, GREAT album 🖤
damn Counting on me just gives me chills everytime :) See you on the other side is great, kinda experimental.
You forgot the secret track, one, which is a cover of Metallica, and it’s executed really nice.
I wasn't really listening to them by this point, surprised to hear a bit of an extreme metal influence at times lol. Wasn't expecting that. Jon's voice sounds great.
Oo this was my first and favorite Korn album
edit: I think The Serenity of Suffering album ended up as my favorite from korn now that I think about it lol
Korn is my fave "metal" band and Nas is in my top 5 overall hip hop MCs you should give his Discography an opportunity as well...please and thank you...Keep up the great reactions!
When this album first came out I was a little iffy on it cuz it lacked the weird guitar on it but it did grow on me and one of my favorite tracks was counting on me very relatable but that was probably because I was going through a bad breakup at the time LOL
This is the last one in the lineup for what I would call their classic material. After this one they dealt with lineup changes and experimentations that didn't always pay off and kind of started suffering from an obvious shift in tone due to a lack of direction and loss of their original identity. See You On The Other Side even had the same songwriting team that was writing hits for people like Britney Spears brought on to carry them through the recording process and it just really shows because their songs dropped most of the hip-hop influence and became more formulaic and they were never really the same band after that happened. It's a shame but it is what it is.
I would love to see a video on the album “electric wizard” by the band of the same name!
this album is a hit in the ear
Molly if you ever get a chance to, you should check out their live at CBGB's video...Right Now, Did My Time, and many songs of what you've heard previously in your videos up until now feature , so it won't spoil future Korn albums for you...it features the original lineup, and is a must watch...I think it was originally released as a DVD along with a Greatest Hits CD they put out
Feeeling mah heeaarrt....
🖤 💛 🖤 💛 🖤 💛 🖤 💛 🖤
Although I find a lot of the songs and this overall album mid; Did My Time was my all time favorite Korn song for a while
Did my time is one of their best. Absolutely love KORN. So many have tried to copy these guys but there is only one KORN!! One of the best bands ever in my opinion.
Korn rules!! Support to México 🇲🇽
y'all want a single, right now, and here to stay are the best songs of the album 👌
I love take a look in the mirror from korn it's a brutal damn record
Counting on me
Here it comes again
Everything I’ve known
Alive
Are my favorites
have you ever seen the movie "queen of the damned"? it features KORNs music heavily. be interested in seeing you react to it, if you haven't.
"Counting on Me" is in my top 5 Korn songs.
This is the album in which they dropped their industrial and hip-hop sounds and went more rock.
Ironically, Nas is featured. He's a rapper. Lol
{Nas ie pronounced like Nostradamus}
As someone who didn't like Untouchables, this was a return to form for me, not so overproduced, but it was also the last Korn album that I got into. Counting on Me is up there with one of my fav Korn songs.
can’t really put my finger on it but I’m not a big fan of Untouchables either, and totally agree that they corrected course with TALITM but then completely fell off after that.
