I've never dropped off from Korn, but this seemed like a definite return to form for me. It's like they had the edge of their earlier years with the maturity of their latter, and the result was an absolute banger. Excited for you to hear The Nothing!
Definitely one of my favorite Korn albums, and hands down one of their heaviest to date.
This is the start of a 3 album run that Korn has with this, The Nothing, and Requiem where they absolutely crush it on all levels. This is considered by many, including myself, to be the best album they have made in regards to sticking to their roots, and giving us old fans a taste of their original form. However, The Nothing is BY FAR the best music they have ever put out. There is not a single song from beginning to end that is weak in any way, shape, or form. It is right next to Slipknot's We Are Not Your Kind and Iowa as the best metal albums of the 21st century.
The first 2 songs on this album are incredible
Insane and Rotting In Vain are two of my favorites as well. That opening with Insane just hits you with the heaviness, I love it!
Maybe 3? :D
@@HohnerCornell yea black is soul is a good song too
This is my easily my favorite album since Untouchables, and that's probably my favorite Korn album, this one comes real close. So heavy with great big choruses and doesn't go on too long.
They really came back into form with this one, I agree. It strikes a great balance between the fun nu-metal style, the heaviness, and all of that modern electronic stuff they've been experimenting with on their last few records.
Nice profile picture @WaterWhale2 stepa rocks
Black is the soul is such a good song, the groove and the heaviness lock in for that chorus!!!!
This album, much like the cover, is just sort of a blend of everything they have done up to this moment. Sort of a fun reflection on their career.
Their next album is my second favorite by them, JD lost his wife and mom the same year. It’s an emotional and heavy journey. Also, the bass is THICK 👌
This album reminds us how brilliant is Korn ! All songs are are pretty unique, and yeah it reminds us also about the "Issues"album! But this one is very heavy, clean and refined! They always know how to get us immersed in the atmosphere of their albums! 10/10 by far!🤘❤🦇🦇🦇
Nice reaction! I feel like The Nothing really takes the darkness of this album to another level, especially with the circumstances John Davis was going through at the time. You're in for something crazy
I'm really looking forward to hearing it!
@@mollyesanbornhey, Molly, if you’re reading this, this comment I’m about to post is something I said in a separate, individual comment, but I’m posting it here too because the OP who posted this comment is referencing the same that I am, and it might get better traction in this comment thread than on its own - if you’re seeing this, try to keep this in mind or take note of this when you do Korn’s next album, The Nothing. I’ve seen in many of your videos, you have started some by acknowledging what viewers told you to expect for an upcoming album. For example I think with your Issues album review you mentioned at the start how people told you that that album would be darker than the ones before it. What I’m saying here pertains to the next Korn album and I think it’s important to keep this in mind when you do that album.
So, I feel somewhat obligated to say this because it’s sort of integral to the listening experience of that album and shouldn’t be brushed over. So when it comes to The Nothing, a lot of people would say it’s probably Korn’s darkest album. Not musically dark, but mentally dark. Jonathan was in a pretty severe case of despair during that album. And I don’t think there is any other Korn album that is as integral and as heavily attached to Jonathan’s frame of mind as The Nothing is. In 2018, Jonathan’s wife died of an accidental drug overdose. Jonathan has said she had been struggling with severe mental illness and addiction for a long time at that point. On top of that, his mother died not too long after his wife did. Obviously this is stuff that devastated Jonathan. He was in a very dark place and even just observing him at that time it was very obvious how much he was struggling with it. He was crying and giving emotional performances and stuff. Since his wife died in 2018, and since The Nothing came out in 2019, everything in that album is where Jonathan’s state of mind was at the time. And that was the entirety of that album. He even said himself that every song on the album is about the same thing. The album title sort of reflects that. His state of mind was just like he was in a void. I think it’s important to say this before reacting to that because I notice your album reviews tend to be more focused on the sound of the music and not so much about the meaning of the music. I
see you speak on the subject matter of songs from time to time, but it seems to only be when it’s a stand out feature. Which is perfectly okay, you know if the music commands your attention more than the meaning of it, it’s cool. I’m just saying it because for this album in particular the subject matter is the most important element of the album, and I’d really hate for what Jonathan felt and experienced while making that album to be glossed over.
@@mollyesanborn definitely! The nothing is all about losing a loved one and it hits hard. At least for me it does
Korn really hit the nail with this one. Here is where they find the perfect balance between metal and electronic elements. It's like we've been working towards this album since The Path of Totality.
Yep, I totally agree! I love how they kept the futuristic/electronic touches but they found a really good balance fusing that with their original heavy sound.
This album brings so much memories from school and some good moments of my life
Love this!
Glad this album brings back so many memories for you! It's a good one too, I love that Korn is starting to bring back the heaviness to their sound.
you should review all of korn's b songs...covers and rares that they have done up until now.
I will have to consider doing that!
This is one of their best albums.
Yeah, this was a great listen! I'm loving that they're bringing back the heaviness on this one.
I like all Korn albums. A very special band.
It has certainly been a wild journey going through all of their albums. They've embraced a lot of different styles across their span as a band and I've really enjoyed hearing the changes they've made from album to album. Can't wait to check out the last two now!
@@mollyesanborn For me this album is updated version of TALITM. Still have what balance of aggression and melody in arrangements but updated and better delivered ! On this album KoЯn definitely take back they sound
This has made me wanna check out some of the newer korn albums cheers molly great video once again 🙂💚
That's awesome to hear! Glad the reactions are getting you into Korn as well :)
@@mollyesanborn I love their albums up until take a look in the mirror and after that not so much but some of their newer stuff sounds ok
I'm a diehard fan of Korn, and yes... this one was the return of them, just wait to check The Nothing.
I'm so happy they created these last two albums ❤
Great reaction as always Molly 🤘
Ever since Head rejoined Korn they just keep getting heavier with every album. I love it! I like those other albums but you can definitely tell his presence was missing on the ones without him. Korn just isn't Korn without Munky and Head.
I completely agree! They're really coming back into form with The Paradigm Shift and especially with Serenity of Suffering. I'm really excited to hear how they continue with the heaviness on their next two albums.
2nd YES FOR KORN! this is a fair follow UP to Paradigm, and, great to see another REACTION to KoRn, loving it Molly :)
Glad you're enjoying the Korn reactions! I have loved going through all of their albums, it's been quite the journey.
@mollyesanborn latest one Requiem, is another level. They had a couple downers (they have their fans) and the last few, UPPERS. can't wait for more Metallica, Ministry, (eventual Fear Factory, Mushroomhead ) and anything else you do. Rocks!
@@ScarysReviews 🤘
One of my favorite albums of all time. Absolutely can't wait for you to hear "The Nothing".
That album came after his wife and his mother died in the same year.
A very powerful album.
I'm looking forward to hearing it!
This album is extremely underrated in my opinion and was a return to form as you stated to something similar to how they sounded on issues. Big fan of your work & your opinions are usually spot-on in line with mine
I think it would be great if you gave a little bit of your thoughts about the album cover also ! Like before going into the songs, saying what it makes you think of, if you like it or not, etc. Maybe you should try that out !
Oh that's a cool idea! I'll have to keep that in mind for future videos. Some album covers really do perfectly encapsulate the sound of a record in one photo. Maybe I'll do a video just talking about the album covers that I think do this brilliantly, that would be a lot of fun to film!
I had tears of joy when I first heard this album blasting it on a long drive. I knew the band I grew up loving was truly back. This album is a masterpiece, to me. Those bonus tracks are really good as well. Look forward to your next Korn reviews and really hope you check out Tetrarch or Chaoseum sometime.
I've waited a long time for you to get here. im so lad you liked this and the last album. as a die hard korn fan i get they had a bit of a rough patch when head left. but it always makes me happy when people see they still got it. cant wait for you to do the next two.
This release was their best album in 15 years. The outro to The Hating is fucking phenomenal.
Korn’s next albums The Nothing and Requiem are heavy too. Can’t wait to see your reaction
I think you should hear their MTV Unplugged too, after everything!
Anyway, glad you enjoyed this, and seeing you discovering a lot of bands like this is really great, glad you kept going! See ya next video
crazy how long you've been doing these reviews; been watching from the beginning. for some reason this review just made me think of so many memories & korn shows. this album really does stand out with all things considered. you are in for a massive treat with the next one. it's a very emotional ride, but some of their best material ever. at this rate, you will be able to review Korn's next album in real time!!
Love the content, keep up the great videos! Hope you get back to the next album in your Incubus journey at some point soon!
The Nothing is in my opinion, by far the best music they’ve ever created. So excited for you to hear it.
100% so excited for Molly to reach it
Completely agree!! Truly a 10/10
That album is such a bleak experience, as disturbing as blood in the toilet bowl!
This is my fav album. probably why it was in my recommendations but its 11/10
1. A different World
2. Insane
these are my fav KoRn songs.
Thank u so much for analyze this gem of album, just all the modern electronic ambience and rude and heavy elements are coming back in the perfect balance, I was waiting so long since 2002 for something so satisfying like this. The escence in rotting in vain sounds like a fastest and heaviest falling away from me and a different world like make me bad. But all the rest like untouchables vibe with better melodic choruses. Next in line have the first prize in melodic and rarely calming choruses and background
Everything falls apart have my favorite transitions. The hating and a different world are so epic putting together. Well I have it with 2 tracks more: Baby is outstanding and funny. When you are not there is about sado love. Thank u again. Next album is good in their own way too
This honestly might be my favorite KoRn record. I vividly remember waiting for this to come out and listening to the album on the bus the next day 😭
It really is a great album, I enjoyed this one a lot! They're definitely re-embracing the heavy aspect to their sound which I personally love.
i prefer the next one, but this one has some bangers as far as i remember
I remember when they started releasing the singles for this album and I was fanboying so hard. Such a great album! Can’t wait for you to hear The Nothing.

You missed the bonus tracks which are fantastic in this album!!
A great one that meant the return of Korn to good old sound.
Now be prepared for 'The Nothing', that one is just incredible
I can't wait for you to review The Nothing... super excited for you!
Can't wait to hear it!
I kinda lately discovered that this is one of my favorite albums. I just keep going back to it.
Immediately followed by the paradigm shift and all the last albums.
As a long time Korn fan may I suggest a few songs that where not released digitally or not at all. These can all be found here on UA-cam.
Korn - Too Late I'm Dead
Korn - The Camel Song
Korn - Last Legal Drug
Korn - I Can Remember
Korn- Inside Out
Korn - I'm The One
Korn - | Can Remember
Korn - Haze
Korn - So Unfair
Korn - Out Of You
Korn - Calling Me Too Soon
Korn - Eaten up inside (my personal favorite).
I really don’t know when all these songs where released but it’s super interesting to hear how different each one is. Anyways I really enjoyed your review on all these Korn album’s. Been listening to Korn for a long time so it’s really cool to hear someone else’s take on them.
Thanks for this list! I will have to make sure and give these a listen as well :)
Everything Falls Apart is such a good song.
I was waiting for this!
The Nothing is very emotional. Not as heavy as this album but it’s certainly more deeper.
The album is the return to the aggressiveness and heaviness of KoЯn 🌽🔥
Heck yeah!! I love when Korn delivers on the heaviness. I'm really excited to hear their last two albums now.
@@mollyesanbornnext album is very interesting because it stems from the passing of Jonathan Davis’ late wife
Loved it and ur review , have you done the newer Korn albums yet??
I love this album so much...but wait for the next one :)
This is my favorite album by Korn. They just hit all the right points on this. Thick sounding and still messing with that industrial new age sounds.
This is one of Korn's best albums, definitely in my top 5. Easily the best of their newer albums (though I also love Requiem).
Suffering is definitely my favorite recent Korn album, but the next couple are also solid gold. Can't wait til you get to them.
Saw Korn open for rammstein in Vega Ave they were touring on this album. It was blissful
Oh that's awesome! Both Rammstein and Korn... must've been a great show.
so excited to see another korn review from you !!! i really wanna see your reaction to fall out boys full length albums and pierce the veils !! theyre both bands i adore and i wanna know your thoughts on their albums :]
Glad you're enjoying the Korn content! I will make sure that your other band suggestions are on my list :)
@@mollyesanborn thank you !! im excited to see more reactions
Happy that you were really into this record, its a nigh masterpiece!👌Cant wait to hear you listen to The Nothing and Requiem. Fucking great!
8:35 that’s why it’s called A Different World 😱
This album and the next are my favorite Korn albums since Issues.
Hi Molly! When are we gonna have your first listening on Kyuss - Blues For The Red Sun?
black is the soul, one of my all time favorites
Love korn always have!! Think you could do some manson sometime??
Peak level agro from them on this release 🤘😝🤘
One of the best KORN albums….
Nick Raskulinecz is a perfect producer for this band …
I hope they bring him back
Their best album since "Untouchables". Amazing album. Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
I might just agree with you on that! I love how intense they go on Serenity of Suffering. Reminds me of their old stuff but fused with the modern touches they've been experimenting with on their past couple of albums.
@@mollyesanborn agree. My only complain is that the first half is stronger than the second half. But even the second half has great songs 🎸
Great video! A great album to react to would be mechanical animals by Marilyn Manson, alot of different genres were touched on in that album as well as lyrical themes.
Pumpkins tour (with Rival Sons, Stone Temple Pilots/Interpol) starts Friday, get your tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!
Korn + Molly cant never go wrong
It's always a good time with these Korn albums :)
I actually enjoyed this album! It just showed that Korn was on the comeback trail. Paradigm shift was ok(better than Korn 3), but serenity of suffering was much better. I would still go
1) Issues
2) Follow the leader
3) Untouchables
4) Korn (1994)
5) Serenity of suffering
Only Two more to go, Let's Go!
I'd agree that I prefer Serenity of Suffering over their last one The Paradigm Shift. They just further embraced the heaviness with this one and I love that they are starting to go back in that direction. I'm definitely pumped to hear their last two now and finish out their entire discography!
I'm BEGGING you to do a video like this on the album Superunknown by Soundgarden. One of the most sonically interesting and unforgettable grunge albums I have ever heard. It transcends its genre.
The Nothing and Requiem are bangers, your in for a nice time :)
So love that this album came back to the heavier edge. When I first heard it I thought of an evolved version of Issues.
The music video for Insane is absolutely epic too
No sooner did I type this then you said it reminded you of Issues lol
Yeah, this album definitely has a strong similarity to Issues with its tone. I'll have to check out the Insane music video now too, I haven't seen it yet.
Molly, give a listen to Breaking Benjamin, all their discography is phenomenal, start with their first record Saturate for you to see the band’s evolution. Love from Brazil! 🇧🇷
Quick Fact About The Nothing Is That This Will be Korns Darkest Album Because During The Time Jonathan Davis's Wife And Mother Died So He Wrote A The Nothing And It Is Something You Will Probably Cry To
Finally, can't wait until you review the nothing ❤
Please don't forget to try Jonathan Davis album as well
This is a good return to their sound however the nothing is definitely their best since untouchables. Reqiuem isn't bad either.
I am so excited to hear both of their remaining albums!
Nothing brightens my day more than a korn reaction 😊 Can't wait for you to react to The Nothing
Oh that's awesome! Glad the Korn content adds a little joy to your day. I am also very excited to hear The Nothing, hopefully they keep it up with all of that heaviness that I love from them.
@@mollyesanbornThe Nothing is great, nice and heavy. Its worth knowing the context that the album was recorded following the passing of Johnathan's wife, so that adds some context to the themes of the album
Love your videos!
Please give a listen to Baroness! They have many albums, all are very different and special in their own way.
When i heard this album the first time it was like "Oh first 5 songs are great, others are bullshit", but listening it now i love all the songs. I understand why i didn't like them, it was because i wanted another "issues" or "untouchables" but this album is more pop, but actually it is not bad, now i think it would be much worse if they did another version of their first albums. They always try to do something new and i love them for that
Waiting for your reaction on last two albums)
Easily one of there best albums, this was really a return to form, also you're right its similar to issues which was an amazing album, im very curious to see what you think of the next album, since alot of the next album was written just after Johnathan davis lost his mom and ex wife withon a year, so its very brutal as an album
Yeah, a strong similarity to Issues for sure with the sound on this one. I'm really intrigued to hear The Nothing now, see if they continue with the heaviness that I love from Korn.
best modern korn record
You should try bottomless pit by death grips
I hope someday you give a try to Motionless in White they are a really interesting band heavily inspired by bands like Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson. i think it will be fun if you react to they're music bcs its a kind of Metal that maybe u never heard before!
From this album and on, they really pick up the pace again with some great stuff 🤘
This album came out when my daughter was born, distinctly remember listening in the car in between hospital trips & escapes from the house to get baby supplies 😅
It's a brilliant album & if anything it grows on you over time too. It was great to see your excitement & 'stink face' return so prominently in this reaction.
The Nothing is their best album in my opinion, looking forward to that. As many will say, no doubt, it's very important to understand his ex-wife (mother of his kids) died of an overdose followed by his mum dying months later in the run up to The Nothing. The album is very much a coming together of grief, guilt, anger, blame & helplessness - it's very emotional, particularly if you key in on the lyrics. Enjoy.
Just wait until The Nothing. This one's great but The Nothing will blow your mind.
Also when I saw Korn live a couple years ago they opened with Insane, so I'll always think of that when I hear Insane haha.
Black is the soul 🖤👏🏻
That's a favorite of mine too, such a great song!
If you liked this, then you're going to find The Nothing interesting... Personally, The Nothing is probably in my Top 4 Korn albums.
SOS is an amazing album.
As always I enjoy your reactions! ✌️
Yeah I really enjoyed this one! There is such a crushing intensity to it, I love that Korn's heaviness is coming back into their music.
Best album since Follow The Leader
You should listen to Adema!
People who agree
⬇️
This is when the KoRn I liked came back 🤘
I can understand that, they definitely start to bring the heaviness back with this one. I was kinda picking up on it with The Paradigm Shift too but Serenity of Suffering is definitely bringing that awesome Korn brutality back to their sound. I'm so pumped to hear their next two albums now!
@mollyesanborn They definitely hit a peak with this album. The next one after it is pretty good, but not a fan of their latest one. Oh well, still good to hear they still make material. I'm starting to get into Depeche Mode now. Helps me make art.

Hey Molly, I love your reactions but you're sleeping on Pantera
Haha, yeah Pantera gets suggested a lot! I'll definitely try and get to a reaction for them soon :)
Molly I'm your biggest fan
Aw thank you! I appreciate the support :)
I still think this is the best Korn album in the last 20 years. Just a great mix of all of the styles they had explored before. It's got some of the best guitar work from Head and Munky. Fieldy's thunderous bass is back, and Jon's vocals are reminiscent of the power he had during Issues and Untouchables. The drum work is incredible. The next album has a similar sound to this one, some absolute heavy ones on that. I think you'll enjoy that one a lot, since you liked this one. My favorite tracks from this album are Black Is The Soul, When You're Not There, Take Me, and Insane. Insane and Black Is The Soul have great music videos you should check out.
I think I have a crush on Molly
Molly! Marry me
Everithing Falls Apart is definally the the high light and best deep cut from this album, I find it strange that it wasn't selected as a single
you should do the bands that heavily influenced munky faith no more and Prodigy
I'll definitely have to do some more Faith No More albums. I'll be sure that Prodigy is on my list too!
KoRn reborn in this album, from now on all the next albums are excellent, keeping the original KoRn sound in their songs. Definitely HEAD contributed much more from here, all creepy sounds and melodies.
Please listen to DEATHMETAL by Panchiko, its not deathmetal but its so much better
In their top 5 albums eeeeeeasily. The nothing for me is a little meh, but Cold is a great great great song and 100% Korn.
I do like this album. I had a good time listening to it, though I hate the cover. I truly hate it! Kind Regards🇵🇱
Easily their beat album! Pure filth
not a fan of this album but i do love The Hating....finally a song that's not verse, chorus, verse chorus, bridge, chorus boring song structure that Korn is stuck in
