Overcoming Back Flip Fear | Re-Learning to Back Flip and Back Handspring after Injury

- This video documents my process for re-learning how to backflip after I injured my knee earlier this year.
I learned my first backflip at 36 years old (I'm now 40) so getting the confidence to learn how to flip as an adult wasn't easy.
After a long break, I was determined to overcoming my fear and get that confidence back, so this video goes through the progressions I use to go for it again.
To learn the macaco (monkey flip) you can also check out my other video just on that here: • How to Macaco Tutorial...

such a cool vid keep it up❤
Thanks for watching!
Really cool video showing you reclaim the move! I'll watch this one a few times and the Macaco... I've already started flipping over the support arm, I was thinking I should do it once the handstand is secure but I could be waiting too long in that case 😅 handstands not looking at all different to three months ago
You don't need a full handstand balance hold to work these which is good! Keep going!

Thanks mate!
You make it look easy. The thought of a backflip still makes me feel very nervous of causing injury.
Its one of those things that requires full commitment when you send it! I think the macaco monkey flip warm ups are a great way to build up the confidence to go backwards. Stay safe!
Excellent work, I have the same fear with performing standing back tuck. I learned it a few years ago and was able to do it, then last summer I was too scared to perform it. I think it’s time to get it done, thanks for the video.
Yes the fear can really set in when you have a long break can't it! It feels great to get it back. Have fun and good luck with it!
Nice! You inspired me to start learning backflips once again, thank you!
Awesome to hear! They are alot of fun!
Where do you think one should start when learning flips / tricks? Very inspiring seeing someone who's over 30 learning this!
Thank you! It was daunting learning in my late 30s. Now I'm 40 now and am glad I started a few years ago! A great safe flip to start with is the macaco (aka monkey flip). You can learn than one safely around the side to begin with using your hands as support. I made a video on that flip which can help here ua-cam.com/video/Uy0eVShnXY8/v-deo.html
