After watching some Warduke testing, we learned there's another reason to use Nova with him: Her Overwhelm shield's inversion means every character who's not in her column adds a 400% buff to The Crew when she's getting Overwhelmed. This can add another e6 to The Crew while your formation is getting pummeled, which is just when you'd need it.
Loved the video, excellent break down of a potentially confusing addition to the game! I think wardukes Chaotic Inversion is going to make for some absolutely spicy comps. Also I think his DPS is fairly decent, so a pretty strong pick up for new players.
I'm surprised they let Valentine's Socialite work with Drawn to Power. I thought it would work like Artemis' Observance where Socialite kicked in _second_, but I guess since Warduke doesn't amplify the buffs he recieves they let him get away with this. I was definitely excited to see a new DPS+Tank join the roster, because even though I myself am not an Artemis main, I always felt like there weren't enough Tank options for Artemis to observe from (I think I said in another reply that I wished they'd give Jamilah the Tank tag for this reason).
Yeah, since he doesn't scale the positionals themselves I think it makes sense for it to work. I would actually not recommend using him with Artemis. He doesn't offer any support whatsoever which generally isn't enough to make up the fact he's another DPS to Observe from, but in restrictions it's possible. I do wish there was *any* DPS/Tank/Support combo to synergize with him for sure. But, there still are some decent tanks like Briv, Blooshi, Nova, Sgt. Knox and potentially Selise just based on how many they buff behind them.
I find warduke works really well with omin, since it becomes really easy to make the whole formation champions of tymora without needing to slot other acquisitions incorporated. Also slotting virgil and merilwen in low adjacency spots gives a good damage/attack speed buff
Yeah, Omin's rework really made him work well with Warduke, no doubt. Virgil for sure, but Merilwen is a bit iffy as her damage buffing formation ability only affects Neutral Champions other than her attack speed buff, unless you're just looking to stack that attack speed I suppose.
@@tyredack the attack speed, yeah. I'll admit I'm more of a casual player so more often than not my formations will include characters i like rather than optimal characters
I was expecting a little more power from this guy, maybe helping Artemis since he is DPS and mess up the formation habilites of others, but after the review B+ seems fair enough. The synergy explanation sounded even better to get formation ideas than the Artemis video, but I understand that it was way more complex than chaos/gold/evil. Keep it up! Cheers!
He's certainly strong as a DPS himself, but yeah, he doesn't help Artemis much since he doesn't offer a support himself and does not scale the positionals in any way. I still think he's boss though.
Thanks a lot as always. I haven't commented on the Artemis formation, but I've watched it with interest. Honestly, I'm kind of relieved Warduke doesn't work well as another Artemis support, because the whole twist Artemis puts on the DPS tag in this game along with his apparent late-game dominance, kind of annoys me. I hope by the time I've progressed far enough into the game that I could potentially start using Artemis, the meta will have been shaken enough that I'll have other viable options. I hoped for a moment that Warduke might be it (I'm still not quite sure what to do with him once I get him geared up, I've barely started the event), but... yeah, his lack of availability was a bit disappointing. And I almost wish his whole Inversion thing would be a specialization choice, or something you can otherwise toggle on/off. His other buffs are insane on paper, and so far his inversion seems like a downside to keep his other abilities in check more than anything else. I enjoy the puzzle in making formations a fair bit, but only up to a point. I've been having a lot of fun with Arkhan (early on), Asharra, the Aerois team during their event (and honestly I'm still using them a lot and they're basically all among my top champions even without the seasonal buffs for now)... More recently I got my hands on Shaka and it's fun too. But Artemis still seems way too much puzzle for me. Warduke too, in a pretty different way, but I'm still hopeful I'll find a way to at least make him work better than Arkhan for me. I like the DPS/Tank concept a LOT actually: lead from the front, be the hero, and all that. Even when I was just starting out I was basically looking for any excuse to make any formation support the lonesome carry on the front line, firebreathing his team into victory at blazing speeds (well okay, at 0.98s per hit ^^)... I guess that's just very compelling to me. I'll at least try my best to make Warduke work, even if that leads nowhere. ^^ Anyway, go get some well-deserverd rest, champion!
I didn't like the thought of using Artemis at first when I started rolling him, but he's grown on me. Warduke does have some great scaling, so if you decide to dedicate to him, he'll certainly perform for you down the road either way!
Probably doesn't matter, but Nahara is Chaotic. Excellent video as always! Do you drop a ton of money on the game or just having played for a long time have banked enough contracts to level/equip guys almost immediately? edit: nevermind, I understand that it is people with positional buffs not just fitting the 3 choices! my bad!
@@tyredack do you do scripted runs? If so, is that something you would want to do for your video series (I assume using something like idlecombos? I figure that'd be useful for a fair number of viewers to have a general walkthrough for what to use and how to configure them.
As I invested pretty heavily into Stoki to get the iLevel 5000 milestone quickly I also very quickly found out that her abilities inverted are kind of bad/weird now when using the two together. The gold find buff to adjacent champions is now non-adjacent, that's fine. But her dmg buff to champions on the formation edge is also inverted so if Warduke is the tank he will never be able to receive it without a very carefully placed Valentine, especially since some formations have only edges.
Warduke I'm going to gear up solely because I like his mechanic and makes and interesting puzzle. That approach really makes the most sense to me since the real top[ tier dps's make it so that you can complete almost all content with some minor investment in artie or krond. With supports that are shared among dps means you can spread your legendaries enough to play with subpar champs
@@tyredack That is frustrating. I get it's getting you to play with different hero's but I feel like dps's should have huge availability and supports should be more restricted.
As someone new to the game and barely got him for free, he works great when a map's positions don't work for the champions I have. Only 2 back rank slots for krydle? No good place for pink haired optimism? Agile Allies in an awkward position? Inversion works great, letting me use the champs the season practically forces me to use for quests even if the map doesn't work well for that champion. Thanks for the awesome content dude : )
He is a fun one with that Inversion - and makes a great early DPS that actually scales really well into the late game for sure. I'd personally place him as the 3rd best DPS in the game by end game, while also being very useful for early players as well. Very good bad guy. Very much appreciate it!
If you've already unlocked everyone and have your 1st, 2nd and 3rd DPS option (likely Artemis, Krond and Zorbu) then Warduke is kind of not worth the trouble in my opinion. So many second tier DPS available that don't take this many "brain cycles" to use! But if you don't have all those options, then rock him! *EDIT* After playing with him a bit I don't dislike him as much as I thought I would! Upper second tier DPS...
Welcome! It's just saving up lots of Bounty Contracts, using them when the new event starts, then spending the first day with a Modron Core resetting at after you complete 50 to earn lots of chests.
The intention was to highlight those with decent buffing potential and Yorven is pretty lacking in the department, though I do like him. I also don't mention Sisaspia who could have been worth highlighting as Evil with 2 positionals, but she's also lower on the buffing output.
The work around for cattie was easy for me. Those who buff within 2 spots has been a real bitch to figure out. It's effectively made bird song useless with warduke, least for me.
too bad in slot 8 it always has Hew(speed) for veterans and too much calculations. (and especially for trials. Artemis is obviously too strong and endure different status restrictions(even the second restriction). To the most extreme condition-1evil, he can still do his job - look at the decent amount of supports!
Atleast for me Warduke outdamages Artemsis by far even Artemis has better gear, but gotta say I'm far from maxed out, so the scaling prolly makes Artemis better in the long run, but as a player who has played only few months Warduke beats the crap out of Artemis in a proper formation.
Artemis really does need that item level investment before he takes off. With the proper investment and supports Artemis will objectively give better output - but Warduke is certainly good and fun to use. He also scales great if you choose to invest in him as well.
Hey, you do you. I always have to make my objective points though, like how he's not the greatest tank for Krond as he doesn't offer any support at all.
He's in an Oxventurers seat. F tier. :P I'm kidding. Because of his prestack ability he's easily top 3-5 dps in the game now. He just needs some investing with ilvls. But yeah - his availability is less than ideal.
How could I forget the most potent support in the game, Corazon! It's why I put him right behind Asharra for now. His scaling is certainly there, but it's no Krond for sure.
Corazón's support is potent alright. A potent stink like a 3 week old rotting carcass. 🤣 Yeah the B+ makes sense. His availability *really* lets him down. Pity - because he's a really nice "complicated" champion that I think a lot of people are going to use because it's interesting. Like Arkhan and Artemis and Black Viper.
He is one of those that really does just feels like something is missing. I do like what he does with positionals as his own unique thing. But, I do think we're riding the positional wave a bit hard at this point.
This game very much changes as time goes on, it's true. Though, his base kit still works the same, there are indeed plenty new Champions that work well with him.

A good buff to her indeed! Maintaining her being overwhelmed while she's not receiving the Temp HP will be interesting.
the first awesomely good explanation of warduke chaotic inversion! Thx so much!!

I don't foresee anything getting too crazy since he doesn't actually scale the positionals, but you never know!
