Currently leveling up my unaffiliated core. I've made the mistake of not seeing how much it benefits Artemis. BBEG got released just in time to speed up things immensely. 9 sonic champs combined with Nordom, allows super fast core exp farming runs. Great video as usual. Keep up your awesome work.
Would like to point out that StrongHeart can Honorary Member and reduce BBEG's zombie output cooldown to -10 seconds with the other Aweful Ones. This will blanket the screen with zombies especially if you use his ult.
Thanks for your nice and clear review as usual. I hadn't noticed his speed mechanic was good enough to challenge Nahara's spot, I'll have to give it some thought as I had a plan to invest pretty heavily on her when her event comes back... Besides speed, Nahara is also the default DPS for Strahd variants, so it might still be a better investment than this new guy overall. I hadn't considered or researched just how few DPS meet his requirements (and the Awfully Meh Ones') but basically just Lucius is really hilarious. ^^ Sure, let's make a line-up around the DPS who has his own personal modron core specifically designed to buff him with his own affiliation, and use the new meh affiliation instead... It's not terrible, just very whatever until some other champ enters the scene and somehow makes them all worth running together. That hypothetical champ would have to be a real new challenger in the DPS category, basically. And they would also have to be a lawful idiot with an overinflated ego and crappy stats overall.... I can't wait. ^^ This event I think I'm gonna chill and save up on bounties. Selise is an interesting backup seat 12 but not even necessarily my second choice. Merilwen is very good at what she does, but unfortunately she doesn't have a home in any of my formations. And BBEG. So yeah, I'll just do the variants and start saving up for the important BDS members coming up next. By the way, I've had Selise for what feels like forever but I've still barely made a dent in her ridiculously grindy achievement. I'm hoping one of her variants might help, but if you have any trip or trick on how to get rid of that, aside from leaving my PC on overnight with her sitting alone at a low portal level with a familiar on her ult or something... I'm all ears!
Appreciate it! And always great to see you coming back for more. This is a good one to sit on and save up bounties if you're not interested in getting some more gold find for Merilwen for sure. BBEG's main use will be his speed and that doesn't need any investment other than the Feat if you're not focusing on the Awful Ones. For Selise, one thing you could try is getting to your wall and capping your BUD as high as you can, then fall back far enough where Selise won't die fast (with her Feat and Nrakk against meleers ideally since she'll be invincible), but won't kill them either, build up as many enemies as you can (ideally full 100 for the zone) then have her ult wipe them all once they're gathered up.
@@tyredack Thanks for the confirmation. I basically never have the patience for an Azaka farm. For goldfind I just use my Jarlaxle line-up with Dob and all the best Rogues and Drows (including Rust) to start building it up while not sitting still. Then Ash takes over and she has Freely with her so I just push. Merilwen has synergies with Rust and Dob, but in that context I'm not sure it'd be worth swapping out Krydle for. Sounds like a plan for Selise, I'll give it a try! Thanks again. Have a great one, man.
True! The only problem with Zorbu is you'll usually want to end up using his Feat to +1 Int that brings him up to 13 Int to qualify him for Strahd's bonus and more importantly the Modron attribute bonuses, which then disqualifies him for BBEG.
When I saw he was unaffiliated, I was hoping he would be good for my unaffiliated core team, but it seems he is in name only. I still like the concept of the character though, and hopefully the awful ones will become more fleshed out to make using him better overall.
It really is unfortunate. You have the unaffiliated DPS of Zorbu who works but is better at the end of the day with his +1 Feat that makes him unavailable. Black Viper and Warduke who need positionals which he doesn't offer. And then we're left with a few select "meh" options.
Appreciate it. He can be, for sure. The only problem is eventually you're likely going to want to use Zorbu's Int +1 Feat so he becomes viable for the Stahd Perk and more importantly qualify for the attribute bonuses from Modron Cores, which will then put him at 13 and no longer be viable for BBEG's buff.
My initial formation for timegates and events are a AO/OX formation, and he is quite strong if you do it like that. Aside from AO fit in either of my main formations (warduke and Krond) and honestly I find that refreshing. Means I can focus on what makes them work (for the time being) and just casually farm the event champions to increase favour for TG/events. I am looking forward for the future. Steadfast and rigtheous, with a bang
Hey can be strong in with the right fit, I just wish that fit wasn't so restrictive. But I'm always look forward for the future as well! Always more content to gobble up.
@@tyredack Man i cant believe i used to actively play this game without 4j, full egg, Manically checking Spoilers multiple times a day, Not using Byteglow for almost everything. So much wasted potential...
1:59 ISTR a saying regarding evil minions: "Henchmen: Evil, Obedient, Bright. Pick any two."; I guess BBEG picked Evil and Obedient. One thing worth noting about the BBEG vs Nahara choice is that Nahara will eventually peter out in longer runs as her DPS fails to keep up, whereas BBEG will keep going until the entire formation slows down. So if you're trying for longer scripted runs for potion sustainability, or just don't have the pipes to buff Nahara with the Fast Core, BBEG could be the better option. Didn't think about the zombies maybe causing lag, though. Also I love the meta-joke of his Specs being named after the types of players that DMs tend to hate. I think it would have been fun if there was a unique interaction between BBEG and Dungeon Master, maybe one that made the BBEG's buffs less restrictive because Rule Zero.
I was thinking it would have been interesting if the two of them had a unique interaction of some kind as well. Being the only 2 DM's we'll probably ever see in the game, but I guess you never know.
I know you off handedly mentioned it in on screen text, but how well would he fit a Lawful None Affiliation formation with Birdsong DPS -- you know, the season 3 special?
Looking back I think I was being slightly misleading there, only in that I was absent mindedly using Birdsong as my DPS in that example when I was just trying to fill it up with Lawful Unaffiliated, because she has too much Int to be buffed by BBEG. That being said if you're just using her also as a buffer in tandem with BBEG for someone else, he works good for it. But specifically with Birdsong as your DPS, no go.
@@tyredack So we're looking for lawful unaffiliated int 12- DPS champions, right? Didn't forget any other condition? If I'm using byteglow correctly, that leaves us with... Nrakk and Azaka. But Nrakk has the Hewman seat and Azaka the Miria seat. Yeah I don't think BBEG fits a season 3 team.
Yeah... swapping Nrakk with Hew Maan would be the best way to go in those terms because then you would at least have a viable DPS with a full team. But, if you want to go that route you'd likely have to forego at least 1 Lawful to at least stay in the Unaffiliated realm, or vice versa. At the end of the day, BBEG is just too damn restrictive.
Problem is he has a +1 Int Feat you actually *do* want to use on him, because that 12 Int qualifies him for the Strahd Global Perk and more importantly gets him to that threshold of 13 Int for Modron Bonuses.
Lucius rises. Sadly he also has a +2 INT feat that you have to drop, so you lose those modron node benefits on him if you want to use BBEG… and until they go back and look at Spurt’s scaling, he’s now the king of support in that slot.
Yeah, Lucius isn't a great fit for him in general anyway, and everyone else tends to have a better fit in that Seat. Farideh? Use Mehen. Artemis? Well, he's in that Seat. Most other formations? Spurt. He works as a Spellcaster for those using a caster + Ulkoria, but again that narrows him down to Nixie and Lucius lol.
Should be releasing a video on the Season 4 changes tomorrow! I personally (at this time) don't think it's going to change much other than the direct reworks as the crit is gained by everyone now and Catti is very much in a similar place as she was, just a bit smoother. Though, crit to the base game doesn't help her much in particular, as she was the only one already working with crit before this introduction.
@@tyredack Something about Catti equipment that increases crit chance past 100% to result in additional attacks? So what if you have enough ilvls for 1000% crit chance? 10000% crit chance?
She's always had that equipment slot, though, it's not new for her. I'm not saying she's bad, don't get me wrong, she's good. But also, anything you invest in her will be put right back into any other DPS you support with her as they can receive her scaling through her Ultimate. You would have to put in some crazy ilvl investment in her for that to scale up into considering her a top-top tier DPS imo. I'm willing to be wrong, though.
It's just a pity he doesn't have positionals for Warduke which is what he needs. At least he does qualify for the 12 and under Int, though! You saying that about Drows makes me think they all need a Tunnel Snake jacket.
Wanted my guy to be s-tier, obviously. But happy with B. Loving his speed mechanic and filling the screen with zombies. The abilities are restrictive, but I guess that comes from faithfully adapting the characters. The awful ones are supposed to be dumb, and BBEG wants to outsmart everyone. So it works thematically. Just not for a real effective team mechanically. Except for Antrius, who -as the bard- gets around.
Sorry I had to remain objective to the parameters of the game 😅 just don't think it reflects what I think of them as characters! I love the zombies, I legit want that full team of necromancers and if that ever happens, he'll be a lock for me. I'm still happy for you guys your crew made it to the game!
