Yeah Orzammar is a very morally challenging area to face. Regarding the debate between Harrowmont and Bhelen, at least up to this point, here's what can be pieced: with Harrowmont, he is noble and honorable, but as you are aware, he is also traditionalist who values the current status quo, where the hierarchy of Dwarves are prioritized by birth and gender. Exceptions to these are in Paragons, who can elevated to a stature equivalent to nobles on the condition they provide a contribution that greatly reshapes life in the underground city for the better, but as seen with the current system, Paragons are a rarity. Then with Bhelen, there is no doubt he greatly contrasts Harrowmont as a more ruthless and underhanded individual as seen concerning Vartag, but this comes with having to compete alongside two other brothers for a claim to the throne all his life, as well as due to him having a different perspective regarding the caste system, seeing it as an already rigged game on the livelihood of the dwarves that remain in Orzammar. When it comes to choosing a side, morality is mostly grey in this territory. What will probably weigh heavier on your choice is how you see the current state of Orzammar and whether you want it to change or not

They did Orzammar very well: it has a very different character from other places. A lot of intriguing intrigue. And no easy black-and-white options. Your character approaches Orzammar respectfully: getting to know the place before making important decisions. It's nice to see :)

Politics. You´ll make the right decision. Wie immer, höre auf dein Herz, dann liegst du nie falsch. Menschenkenntnis. Der erste Impuls ist fast immer, der richtige. Bin gespannt, wie du weiter vorgehen wirst. Hervorragende Folge. LG

    In short:
Harrowmont is polite and friendly, but is a traditionalist who wants to keep dwarven society the way it is, even if dwarven society has been steadily crumbling for centuries.
Bhelen is a rude tyrant who cares for nothing but power, but doesn't care for traditions, and with Bhelen, dwarven society might get the push in the right direction it needs.

This is one of the best choices in a video game. The Harrowmont vs Bhelen choice is one of the most impactful and it tells a lot about how people view politics. Harrowmont is a traditional pick, and that means a rigid class system where people will be born into poverty and never allowed to leave it. Bhelen is a radical who has populist tendencies but is ruthless in pursuit of power. The long term choice is perhaps obvious in hindsight so I can’t wait to see you navigate it.

Hey Liera, great video as always.
U mentioned that u wish u could take all ur companions with u, well ironically when u finish the game if ur interested there are videos on UA-cam that show cutscenes with all available companions along with their dialogue if they have something to say during the cutscenes.
U also mentioned that u wonder if being a dwarf changes ur interaction with Shale, having played as a dwarf commoner on my first playthrough I can tell u that with few exceptions for some conversations with other dwarves in Orzamar nothing changes with ur interactions in regards to other npcs or in regards to ur personal interactions with Shale.
U seemed confused in the Palace when u stepped on that floor switch, don't want to give away any spoilers but it is part of a larger puzzle involving several different switches all found within the Palace itself.
U can actually do the quests for both Harrimont and Bahlin up to a certain point if u want the extra experience. But u do unfortunately have to pick a definitive side.
I unfortunately only caught the tale-end of ur Mass Effect playthrough, but seeing as ur now playing Dragon Age I was wondering if u had heard about the theory that Theodus is actually a planet within Mass Effects Milky Way Galaxy, that just hasn't achieved space flight yet.
Mages under this theory are biotics who use staves to help control their biotic powers much like the L2 and L3 implants in Mass Effect.
The theory was purposed cause of the Easter egg found within Kasumi's personal mission in ME2 ( the darkspawn ogre within the vault / trophy room)
So my question is this, what do u think of the theory? Would u like it to be proven true? Or would u like to just see Easter eggs pop up here and there?

      > I can tell u that with few exceptions for some conversations with other dwarves in Orzamar nothing changes
Oh that's actually a bummer. Would have been fun to have a dwarf noble rattling out some nerdy facts about golems upon meeting Shale or something along those lines.

    • @zomking4
      @zomking4 12 днів тому

@@LieraPlays I apologize I thought u meant just the player character's interaction with Shale. If u pick the right dialogue options when speaking to the Shaper he'll actually offer to buy Shale as they've so few golems left intact. Shale also has a link to the quest u'll get soon that'll take u into the deep roads. There are a few other interactions Shale can have with other NPCs such as the boat guard for the Circle Tower upon ur first arrival to Lake Calenhad, if u've already gotten them as a companion and they're in ur party.

Your ears do not deceive you. There is a difference of language, sure, but here, they are actually very drunk :D Which is always surprising to me considering how their beer is made. Mainly there's no grain involved whatsoever and it is said that only dwarves can drink it without choking.
    >7:19
Harrowmont is a traditionalist. I understand the confusion because Helmi basically wants reforms and not getting stuck in traditions, and Bhelen is the progressive one. But he is telling you what he thinks of Bhelen and Harrowmont as people which is definitely not the same thing.
    >11:35
To have Genetivi showing you around? Well, I kinda would have loved that too. Being a tourist in Orzammar. :D Also don't forget to pay him a visit next time in Denerim. Another thing to add to a list that is growing longer.
    >11:54
And you're right. Platinum would be a terrible choice for armor and weapons considering that not only it is fairly soft but also heavier than gold and more expensive. The only property of platinum I know of making it useful is its resistance to acid and corrosion but for that you wouldn't need a full armor, just a layer of platinum coating it.
Full set of platinum armor? Unless someone wants to crawl their way on a battlefield, having spend all their fortune on a set of armor that will bend at the first strike of a steel sword, better to forget about it. :D
    >12:17
I assume you're talking about yourself because your character can wield a sword in battle which is at least the same weight as a smith hammer, possibly even heavier. XD
    >14:39
Follow your heart! :) In Dagna's case anyway, there's no point fighting against destiny. Below the obvious enthusiasm, she seems like the kind of determined person who gets what she wants, with or without help...
    >18:32
Well, between this lady and the guy in the tavern you probably already can see where this is going :)
    >18:45
The public has a right to know... the truth. You're just making up stuff to support one of the pretenders. Not that the other side doesn't do the exact same thing so I guess it's as fair as a political campaign can get.
    >19:30
Technically, it was a defeat. Orzammar was preserved but most of the Dwarven kingdom had fallen to the darkspawn. From a commander's point of view, avoiding utter annihilation is definitively not achieving victory.
    >20:34
Yes Wynne but so is a live chimney in a house, an accident waiting to happen. Lava brings warmth and light so Dwarves are just balancing advantages and potential disaster, exactly what we do ourselves every day, with gas, electricity... you name it. None of those things are safe but all of them have benefits, when used responsibly.
    >20:49
You're becoming quite the nug collector. Will you be able to get the ultimate nug though? :)
    >25:35
Although you won't be able to see them at their prime, with some imagination you'll be able to visualize what they were. Some portions are intact enough to allow you to build a good picture of the whole thing.
    >26:05 "...no one likes his heir"
I wouldn't go that far. If truly nobody liked Bhelen, the succession would have been decided already in Harrowmont's favor. As it is the Assembly has been deadlocked for weeks. It's clearly a tie and the final decision will have to be pushed.
Guess who will do the pushing... :D
    >26:40
Well, finding a nug will be the most complicated part of your recipe but if you succeed I want a taste! Also don't tell Leliana about your culinary ideas... she would get upset! :)
    >27:12
Different reasons and the fact that Grey Wardens go to die alone. Legionnaires always fight in units so when they die there's most likely some of their brethren around to honor them and return them to the Stone, unless the whole unit is decimated. Grey Wardens on the other hand just disappear...
    >34:05
Sadly, no. Shale just acknowledges that you're not a mage but even if you ask him how he knows that, he will answer the same thing as he would for any other mage or non mage character (because the crystals embedded in him tell him so) while a more proper answer could have been "Well, you're a Dwarf, you can't be a mage".
One has to remember though that Shale was separated from the dwarves for a very long time, that he lost the part of his memory related to that era and that for him, all fleshy things resemble each other anyway, just soft and squishy. :D
    >34:25
The better question would have been "Golems like this?" because this was you specifically pointing at Shale behind you. Which would have prompted a reaction from both the shaper and Shale. You still can have it but you have to go through the discussion again. :)
    >35:16
That is an interesting observation. Yes, Burkel is a surfacer and so technically casteless, so not considered a "proper" Dwarf in Orzammar and the Shaper knows that. However (because there are always exceptions) there are reasons why the Dwarves would prefer to not complicate their relations with the Chantry (trade with the surface being the major one). So being a Chantry cleric gives Burkel a special status superseding the fact that he is casteless, at least up to a certain point.
    >37:19
No, the one that you can see just in front of you. :D
And you don't need to wait for a king being elected to attend a prayer meeting. Those are two different things.
    >38:23
Just welcomed inside and immediately snooping around... XD
    >38:55
"Thank you! Now if you don't mind I'd like to steal your stuff"... if only you could :D You should ask her for the key, she seemed the pleasant kind, maybe that would work. haha
    >44:15
Not the exact same thing -- at least not at first -- since Bhelen already has the Proving covered. Be sure however that whomever you choose to support, you'll have to work for it. None of them is going to let you go easy. :D
    >45:07
You've just stumbled upon the Royal Palace hidden puzzle, "hidden" as in "it won't be marked as a quest in your journal"... A part of the puzzle anyway. You can attempt to solve it from now until a king is elected (after the election this puzzle won't be available anymore).
I leave you to it. Puzzles are your realm, my Queen! :)
    >47:36
Well they probably thought about that. It's just that they don't want lava "in" their bath :D There are hidden ways lava heat could be circulated to here though. Who could say it isn't?
    >48:45
You missed a phylactery in this room. It was the occasion for a good fight :D
    >49:15
Ooh, second part of the hidden puzzle. And I won't say anything else because the content is more than enough to allow you to solve it. :)
    >55:32
You can't, but you can go and ask the Shaper what he thinks about them because all such agreements are legally binding and as such are recorded by the Shaperate.
    >58:40
    There you go. :)
    >1:05:58
Welcome to Dust Town! It's like a rite of passage. Provided you survive they should leave you alone after that, having proved to them that you're not worth the expense of trying to rob you. :D
    >1:09:08
It's even more tragic then. I thought you didn't accept because you didn't have the money.
He told you, he was ready to pay you 20 sovereigns for the "favor", which would have added to what you could get from Godwin (you know the guy who was hidden in the closet at the Circle?) selling him the lyrium, and believe me, Godwin is ready to pay a lot, much more than you would have paid initially to this Dwarf.
I won't give any precise figures because I don't want you to have a small heart attack but given your coercion skill (it's "the" quest where max coercion is literally paying for itself), it's an awful lot of money you just sent packing, much more than you can expect to get anywhere in the game in just one small quest which doesn't even feature any difficulty. What's more, it was on your way to tell the First Enchanter about Dagna anyway.
But I can understand the caution. IRL, I'd certainly go the same route. First time I did this quest, I just expected to break even, or maybe win 10 or 20 sovereigns at best and at worst to have to come back and choke the Dwarf to death to get my money back. But when I saw the final number (with max coercion), my jaw dropped. "This is what smuggling lyrium is like? Where do I sign?". I was almost sad to see it was just a one time thing. XD
    >1:14:35
If you think that Vartag Gavorn is a smooth talker, his boss (Bhelen) is even worse. Very snake-y :D
    >1:14:48
Whatever you choose, it will be your choice. Only thing I can point to ease your mind -- or not -- is that none of the choices is perfect. Don't spend too much time trying to find something that doesn't exist here. The writers wanted to present players with a dilemma, not an easy picking.
You can also remain in your Grey Warden role, decide that what happens in Orzammar is none of your business and that you just need a King to get you what you want, meaning troops to fight against the Blight. This is the main reason why you're there after all. From this point of view, Harrowmont or Bhelen, why would it matter? You're not there to right some wrong or to build a better Orzammar, "just" to prevent total annihilation at the hands of the darkspawn. And because you're not of Dwarven noble origin, it's not like if you had a score to settle with "someone".
Well, that makes three choices possible then, not just the two. Although, even if you decided to go the cynical route (which dialogues allow), you'd still have to pick one pretender, you'd just probably toss a coin to decide which one as you'd have no interest in knowing them, their achievements, their crimes or their plans for Orzammar.
Back to square one then. :D

      > your character can wield a sword
would a blacksmith's hammer be the same weight as a sword? i always thought they were much heavier.
      > most complicated part of your recipe
True. It did say it's kinda like pork and rabbit, so there are alternatives :D

      >i always thought they were much heavier.
Depends what hammer and what sword you have in mind. For most everyday work, smiths use one handed hammers that weights between 0.7 and 1.5 Kg. A longsword averages from 1 to 1.5 Kg. The main difference is the handling. The weight of a sword is mainly in the hilt while the weight of a hammer is mainly at the tip. For the same weight handling a hammer is possibly more tiring than handling a one-handed sword.
Now if you go bigger a demolition sledgehammer definitely wins even over a two handed sword. Something like twice the weight on average?
As for fantasy swords, I can't even begin to imagine what would be the actual weight of a monstrosity like the Fume sword in DS (should someone be crazy enough to forge a working real life equivalent). It always seems to me that you shouldn't be able to even lift the thing, let alone fight with it, no matter your strength attribute. :D
      >like pork and rabbit, so there are alternatives :D
Too bad... Due to a childhood trauma, I don't eat rabbits (so you'd have to find something else). My father would have loved the idea though, pork and rabbits were his favorites. :)
      >Ah, man!
You know what they say about "hidden in plain sight". :D

In case no one said that yet, the strongest party composition - 3 dual wielders (2 warriors and 1 rogue) and mage with sword, shield and heaviest armor (paladin build) with permanent auras of speed and armor penetration weapon (telekinetic). Such setup moves fast and cut everything to pieces in a matter of seconds even on nightmare level. Mage serves as tank, rogue backstabbing when deal with bosses.
Anyway you need two sets of weapons for everyone (one melee and one range) - the long range weapons are very effective in this game for lots of battles when it is easier to shoot enemies one by one than to go into melee with everyone at once. But you do not need to spend any skill points for long range skills. It is perfectly viable to have 4 melee only characters and just shoot everyone you meet using range weapons :D
There are lots of interesting mods out there - free respecialization for everyone to test different builds, 2nd specialization for Sten (he is only one who is missing it), etc.
Golem and dog are the weakest companions, they are mostly for fun.
