Bigger problem than the mercury in fish is the mercury from dental crowns and fillings, so-called "silver" fillings are actually 50% mercury and are constantly offgassing vapors inside your mouth. Worse when chewing, brushing teeth, eating/drinking something hot.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:00 🧠 MSG, or monosodium glutamate, can be an excitotoxin when consumed in large amounts, overwhelming and damaging brain cells, potentially affecting individuals differently.
05:25 🐟 Certain fish, particularly large predatory ones like tuna and swordfish, can contain high levels of mercury, which can be toxic to the brain.
08:39 🍷 Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to brain shrinkage, especially in heavy drinkers, and it can contribute to gut-brain axis issues and insulin resistance.
13:52 🍬 Artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose can be neurotoxic, potentially causing brain damage, and may even lead to increased cravings and insulin resistance.
21:51 🌾 Grains, particularly those with lectins like wheat, can promote a leaky gut and affect the gut-brain axis, potentially leading to health issues.
27:55 🍟 Avoid fried foods, especially those prepared with unhealthy oils and excessive reuse, as they can harm mitochondria, increase inflammation, and promote insulin resistance.
28:10 🧁 Sugar is the top brain-damaging food, as it causes insulin resistance, a leading factor in dementia. Sugar contains fructose, which can lead to a fatty liver and metabolic issues.
28:35 🍚 While carbohydrates contain glucose, sugar's 50% fructose content makes it particularly harmful, contributing to metabolic epidemics when added to diets in excess.
29:24 🍭 Sugar is highly addictive, leading to overeating, more insulin resistance, and an imbalance in the gut microbiome, affecting the gut-brain axis.
29:51 🍰 The harmfulness of sugar lies in the dosage; it has become a major health issue due to its widespread consumption as a staple in diets.

A wonderful and beautifully presented lecture - as always. Dr Gundry always goes on about lectins. Since you are the best at holistic explanations of all these issues, I would love you to do a whole piece just on lectins. Keep us healthy good doctor. ❤️

Thankfully, Gundry is so laughably transparent in his motivations. I've never seen someone besides a Televangelist be so utterly, shamelessly grubby. I wouldn't trust that moron to put a band-aid on a papercut.

I don't care what Dr. Gundry says about lectins, I am going to eat beans and tomatoes for the rest of my life. I've Eaton them so far and I'm fine. BUT I definitely don't think God would have put tomatoes and all those different kinds of beans on this planet if we weren't supposed to eat them, that would just be torturous.😮

@@tamitatangoto5134 Hello, just because something tastes good doesn't mean it should be consumed; In the case of tomatoes and beans, I don't think it's something you should never eat (because apparently your body doesn't react badly to them), but it's probably something you don't want to have as one of your main foods, especially if you want to be as healthy as possible. That's my opinion. I love tomatoes.

Oxalates are much more dangerous than lectins. Lectins can be detoxed from the body easily but oxalates are very difficult to clear out and if you remove them too quickly or go on too low an oxalate diet suddenly, you can experience a lot of unpleasant effects. Sally K. Norton has a book TOXIC SUPERFOODS. EONutrition has the best talks on oxalate dangers.

Q: I absolutely love your videos 🎉 I have a question about nutritional yeast extract (after hearing you talk about it). One of the ingredients in my favorite salt substitute is "Non-Fortified Nutritional Yeast Extract (No Candida Albicans)." The product also says, "gluten free, salt free, sugar free, non-GMO, Parve, NO MSG, no preservatives, no potassium chloride, all natural."
My question is, is this kind of nutritional yeast extract ok for the brain, or does it fall onto your list of harm? Thank you, Dr. Ekberg 😊 I also love to use organic nutritional yeast flakes for nutrition and the yummy umami taste. Is this ok? Thanks again for all of your expertise 😊
