1. Calcium
2. Multivitamins
3. Vit C
Caveat - take timed release vit C or take it up to 4 times a day; you need continuous exposure to vit C to experience the benefits
4. Ketone drinks
5. Low quality probiotics
6. Vit E
7. Iron

I agree with these except when my hair was falling out/shedding, I bought an iron supp & it stopped my hair fallout. I do not eat much food with iron so I take some when I'm seeing more hair in my brush.
I strongly disagree regarding vit c. I used to fall sick with fever, cold, etc. So many times during a year. Doc asked me to start taking vit c and that definitely helped me in not falling sick.
Either way, Acerola C is best form

Very correct but also true to say that we occasionally need to involve an expert to recommend what to take and what not to take

Thank you Dr. G. and team! I've pre-ordered Gut Check and can hardly wait to dive into it!
For probiotics , I’ve been drinking a cup of Alexandre A2 casein milk kefir. It seems to have helped my digestive issues and is also a very good source of calcium. I understand that a healthy gut biome can also help in preventing cognitive decline.
Just turned 65 and this extremely important to me.

Wow ! Amazing stuff ! Thanks doc !
Never taken a supplement in my life, I have a very varied diet that gives my body all that it needs, 75 years old still running upstairs and feeling great..
Not everybody is so lucky. I live in an area which deficient in iodine. Also it's up in the north so there is vitamin D deficiency. I take iodine (I breathe better, my groiter is better) and vitamin D (my pain is gone after I started to take it)
I take a B complex, C 2 grams, D 5000 iu, E 1200 iu,, K2 Mk7, NAC 2400 mgs Q10, R ALA,B12 just adding Glycine.
I think "supplements" are a scam. Whole foods is all we need along with pure water.

To the best of my knowledge this is all true. However asking your MD is problematic for 2 reasons: in the US, who can afford a doctor? And how can you trust a doctor whose primary concern is for Big Pharma and whatever corporation writes his checks?
That's why we're online getting info. Get alot of opinions & if you know you aren't getting a nutrient in your food intake, then you should consider a supp. temporarily. I had heard not to take calcium or iron if you're over 50 too.
its not true
Doctors have very little background in nutrition. They don't study that at all in college
@@8675-__ And the little they know is based on the SAD guidelines. Also don't you dare to contradict your doctor
That's why the doctors who specialize in Functional medicine is important.....their lectures can be found here on YT....Dr. Mark Hyman is one of them...and, " low carb down under " has great informative discussion......
FYI: in the US, the FDA and Medicare has restrictions on Physicians as to how to treat their patients or else....this started with the Plandemic....
MD's are limited to time spent with patients and are gagged.....they 're
unable to discuss certain issues with patients.....their job: write a prescription and shut up....that's why most doctors are changing jobs...
Edit: the key to good health is to be informed in order to make decisions for yourselves...don't allow doctors to decide for your health....

Absolutely incredibly good information. Thank you so much.
No it’s not! It’s irresponsible!
Thank you very much Dr.Gundry for this wealth of supplement knowledge!
Brilliant commentary! The bell rung for me when he discussed Iron. I had low hemoglobin and we finally found it was blood loss caused by bladder cancer. Hopefully my energy will recover after my recent surgery.
I had a near death experience with blood loss, doctors pumped 7 big bags of blood into me when I got to emergency. In 14 days in Mexican hospital, plus another 7 days in a Canadian hospital they could not balance my blood. I did it myself with over the counter iron vitamins and eating meat. Within 1 month my doctor said remarkable how much I had improved, 2 months later no more appointments.
I take multiple vitamins and am now 78 with no health issues, something is working. I fact I still work in the fall with harvest working up to 15 1/2 hour days.
What caused your blood loss.

My mom has been on calcium softgels for over 10 years, while her many of her similar age friends got osteoporosis, she was tested to have bone quality like people at their 40s, but she’s at her sixties already. I strongly believe good calcium supplements do work especially when you don’t eat much dairy products.
And vitamin K2 is essential with calcium
+k2,+D, check your nails, it will tell you the difference!
Every decent dr teaches not to take calcium.. does more harm than good to your body. We get enough
+ potasio, vitamina D, y el magnesio no puede faltar, no olviden que para poder sacar el verdadero potencial se necesita de estás otras vitaminas para que el organismo haga una buena asimilación y utilización del calcio
You never say what exactly to check for when looking at our nails.
i'm 65 and i'm taking multivits since 23, and added E, C, & Calcium over the years.. based on my experience, when i added calcium about 10 years ago, my teeth stop decaying 😊
Vitamin C has been shown to reduce dentine damage and plaque formation of teeth so that's a contributing factor. Calcium in its pill form is not utilize by the body for bone and teeth health. Vitamin D & K are more beneficial for calcium utilization in bones and teeth

Hogwash! What you say applies to one having a complete and balanced diet. Which most people don’t.
I am trying to eat my vitamins as much as possible.I cut out calcium for his stated reasons, E because the Tocotrienol is pricey( but I would like to add one day), multi vitamins, and the probiotics. I make my own yogurt from japaleno stems, kimchi/kimchee, and red cabbage/apple sauerkraut and eat daily. So packed with probiotics! I like Acerola Cherry powder C- it seems close to a food, but I do ingest the juice of one lemon daily in ginger tea and my psyllium drink.
Where do I get a recipe for sauerkraut
Very helpful. Thank you Doc!!!
Excellent talk, see several consultants with different issues and backed hp all he has said.
As much as I love listening to Dr. Gundry’s podcast, we all need to take this with a grain of salt. Because some people really need vitamins. Talk to your personal physician because he will have your bloodwork.
Isn't that exactly what he said? I'm pretty sure I just heard him say "Don't take these *unless your doctor suggests it*. So why is it *you* didn't hear that?
@@guygordon2780 OMG, what is going on in your life that you need to be so snarky?
Exactly. I can only minimally take into effect what Dr G suggests.

I was very sick, cold all of time. I took calcium that has vitamin D included, also vitamin C, multivitamin. They really helped me.

Calcium caltrate (the kind of calcium in calcium tablets) goes into the blood and can contribute to heart disease. You are much better off getting your calcium from broccoli, oats or brown rice.
@@chrisk1489 calcium helped me warmer, bone density better. Doctor from Duke university advised me take it.
If you were prescribed meds by the doctor, they have very high dosage compared to the ones in supermarket. He means the ones sold in normal shops are not worth buying. And also if you are deficient then take but don’t take for the sake of taking supplements.
If it ever reoccurs, take Vitamin B-100/day for two weeks. Any bacterial infections, bugs will be gone. Check with your druggist as most MD’s are not well versed in vitamin therapy. I never take a multi-vitamin as the mg amounts are to minimalI (take mine all individually) to keep my low immune system up. Take care.
Thanks for the video, very informative. I’d have to say that the effects of supplements can actually vary from individual to individual, I’ve been on multivitamins for several years and it’s made a huge difference to me catching colds and the flu which I used to get several times a year, now it’s down to once a year if that. I also experience more strength and recovery from fitness activities after starting the multivitamins. I agree that gaining the nutrients naturally is better but this isn’t always possible
Right, multi's are good. There's lots of variables, but in general, yes. Plus there are more real studies to back this up other than what he mentions here. Plus personal experiences like your own.
I’m torn as well with Dr Gundry saying no to multi vitamins.
I feel so much better when I take one with a meal than when I don’t take them at all.
Thank you! Great advice 🎉

💡I eat unpasteurized Sauerkraut daily for my Probiotic Source. It's full of thriving Probiotics!👍😃👍
I'm on a study @ the Mass General hospital Bone Clinic.
I get a shot every 6 months for calcium deficiency. They asked me to take a cal-mag supplement (over the counter) I've also been diagnosed with arterial calcium deposits. Thanks so much for heads up ❤
Ask doctors about the role of vitamins K2 & D3. They help to ensure calcium goes into your bones. You need to get that calcium out of your arteries. Good luck!
I was also going to tell you to look into K2 & D3 as the person above mentioned. Per my nutritionist - it takes the calcium out of your arteries and puts it into your bones!
Informative podcast.
Hi, thank you for your helpful videos. I remember you had a podcast on ESS60 (C60) awhile ago. Do you currently supplement with it and/or what are your thoughts on it now?
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:29 🦴 *Calcium supplements may not benefit bone health and could deposit calcium in blood vessels. Get bioavailable calcium from foods like dark leafy greens and small fish like sardines or anchovies.*
01:54 💊 *Multivitamins were based on outdated standards. Minimum daily requirements may not meet actual health needs. Research suggests higher vitamin D levels are beneficial.*
04:15 🍊 *Vitamin C is essential but should be taken continuously for benefits. Consider time-release or multiple doses for consistent exposure.*
07:06 💧 *Ketone drinks are expensive and taste bad. Opt for MCT oil for a more affordable and palatable way to produce ketones.*
09:16 🧪 *Vitamin E supplements vary in effectiveness; some may cancel out others' benefits. Be selective if choosing vitamin E supplements.*

Bravo! You are so right!
I started taking Berberine for my glucose levels. A friend of mine’s doc recommended he start taking it after he gave him a script for these fancy blood monitoring patches. He could see how carbs affected his blood sugar, then he started taking the berberine. He started to slowly loose weight and gain control of his blood sugar. He still has to be on meds but lower dose ones. My last blood panel showed my glucose was really high (it was a no fasting test) and I’ve been pre diabetic for a long time. Plus my weight was going up. I haven’t eaten sugar, wheat, rice for over 23 years! My appetite is always fairly low and if I’m not careful I’ll skip meals. I should not be over weight, but I’m more concerned with my blood sugar. I am almost 69 and I’m not on any meds. I do take supplements so it was easy to add berberine. I can no longer skip meals as my blood sugar drops so that’s nice. I did get Covid in the beginning and dropped a lot of weight (10 lbs) but since then I’ve been slowly dropping weight (maybe 2 lbs/month). I did have to do my blood panel a week after I started berberine and my glucose dropped from 200 to 90! My goal is staying off medications! The weight loss is a nice perk but it’s not fast waste loss which I think is better and easier for the body.
look at taking chromium suppliment for diabetes and it is recomended to take potassium too look up Dr Berg on that subject

My sister has diabetes, she told me that since she started taking Berberine, her A1C levels went down from 6.8 to 6.2, she also lost weight. She still takes metformin.
In the UK the NHS recommends intermittent fasting with Keyo diet to reverse pre Diabetes and Type 2.
I was getting critically low iron levels due to deficiency from gastric bypass surgery. A surgeon recommended Chelated iron which is well absorbed and non constipating. Amazingly enough it brought my iron levels right back up to normal within a few weeks. No constipation or GI problems at all. Highly recommend this if you are anemic for reasons other than blood loss!

I work in construction, so I always have a iced big-gulp cup full of unsweet green tea with a tea-spoon vitamin C. I add it plus whatever else I want that day (iodine, trace mins, methylene blue, sea salt, molecular zinc, potassium, dissoluble B tabs, or whatever suites my fancy). I sip the drink through the day - which allows me to get my vitamin C through the day. Time-Delayed C can give some folk ulcers, such a me.

Also, is pro + pre + post overkill?
Could you do an episode about the background and studies that make up the recommended daily intake of vitamins- it seems to be very conflicting information on what amount of each vitamin humans need- thanks!

It's all misleading. What are called "supplements" don't really do what people have been led to believe, and instead they are useless since they are not a whole food, and consequently they produce a toxic burden on the body. The idea that "supplements" can make up for a deficiency in our foods is not viable. It's a huge business that preys off our fears much resembling Big Farma tactics. Just look at protein powder as just one example of the scam. It's highly processed and does not support health. Nobody is suffering from a protein deficiency in the US, yet the protein hype has worked to sell these powders for 50 years.
Probably because there is no settled science on the issue.
Useless multi vitamins only the bare minimum! You need the vitamins in a single form! My chiropractor told me that years ago !

You are so right !
As a terminal cancer survivor who healed by natural means, I strongly disagree with this list, especially vit c. I followed Maggie McGee Protocol to heal from cancer. I took liposomal vitamin C along with a plethora of other nutrients, as well as hom made concoctions.
Seriously. I really don't know why it's the "kool kid" thing to do with these "health professionals" nowadays to demonize Vitamin C.
Didn't you see the video? He never said that you should not take vitamin C, he simply explained that a low dose once a day is of no use, and that larger doses are required, that it is absorbed slowly, he mentions that he takes doses of 1000 and that it is slowly absorbed, before commenting pay attention to the information.
A while back I read an article which says vit. C's half-life in human body is about 3.5 hours. Also, taking 400mg of vit. C at a time is pretty much a saturation point for blood concentration, taking any amount more than that will only increase blood concentration a tiny little bit. Only way to greatly increase blood concentration level of vit. C is by IV. So, taking 1000mg a time is a waste unless it's time-released form. Personally I take 500mg 3 times a day.
Liposomal vitamin C
Vitamin C is water soluble and is not stored in the body. Just eat fruit
Except that is a fake vitamin C and taking too much of it can result in vitamin C deficiency.
This is what I take. 👍👍

@@grampadad Hi, I got the humor. I thought I was expanding the joke! Apparently not! ha-ha
And four isles for sweets😂
May i remark: if you want to follow the example known from the Mediterranian, make sure to go preferably for sardines with SKIN & BONES because they contain more calcium. Otherwise, your choice of fish, anchovies or sardines are pretty much the same - but keep in mind that both also contain omega 3 fats, vitamins D3 and K2, which are also benificial. I rather doubt nutrient suppliments for calcium contain the right nutrients like vitamin D3 and K2 as the fish do, which are probably essential to the bioavailability of getting the calcium to where it is needed.
Yep… many do not… i found recently someone on my own family taming Calcium suplementation without D3 and melaquinone (k2). That can only lead somenoe into higher cardiovascular morbidity with calcium deposition in arteries and articulations.
Thank you. Agree

If you combine vitamin C, for example as Sodium Ascorbate, with pycnogenol (grape seed extract), the vitamin C stays present and active in your body for about 12 hours instead of being broken down within 3-4 hours.
Very good to know!

So glad I kept reading comments; because, I was inclined to quit, as some were so ridiculously lame!
How does time-released vitamin C actually work? Also, many of the (time-released or not) vitamin C supplements online contain isolated ascorbic acid (not food sourced with bioflavonoids), synthetics, stearates, etc. It pays to look at the back labels before buying.
Please reconsider tocotrienol, excluding all tocopherol, especially for recovery from stroke episodes.

I have been taking a daily multi vitamin since I was twelve. My hair was coming out by the handful. The doctor put me on it. Not only did it stop my hair loss, but cleared up brain fog. If I stop taking the multi vitamins, my hair will start coming out.
Try to stop taking multi vitamins for a while, and try to eat varied. See what happens....

He did say to follow your doctor's orders. This would be for people who don't have an MD telling them what supplements to take, which kind, what dose, etc.
@byrdma12 The danger with taking multivitamins for a long time is that while you may be insufficient in some of the vitamins included, you may be taking too much of some others and become overdosed. So it's best to do a blood test on all the vitamins you have been taking so far and take only those that you really need as separate pills.
@@lawally127 my doctor is o.k. With it. He does check my levels.
Probiotics: the inexpensive probiotics consists of mostly various lacto bacteria. And unless your diet consists primarily of milk products, which contain lactose. Yogurt already has the lactose broken down by the lacto-bacteria, in becoming yogurt. Same for most cheeses.
