The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I loved anything ‘Danny Kaye’ during my childhood. He was immensely talented and likeable! 🥰
Danny Kaye was an extremely likeable man.
He looks different with long hair i thought in 1970 he tore his leg i read it somewhere
One of my Heroes on TV in my Childhood. Danny is the nicest and symphatic Comedian and Actor of the 20th Century! "The Jester" from 1956 is one of my all time favorite Movies up to this day!
The Jester, The Inspector General, The Secret life of Walter Mitty, Hans Christian Andersen, White Christmas, sure were good.
@@ivangranger8494He was so funny with Bing in White Christmas. ❤
@@jillkjv3816 i agree 100% ! A Beautiful Movie and Soundtrack🙏
@@haraldtrittner4396 A tradition every Christmas 🎁 to watch again as a family. 😊
@@jillkjv3816 👍🏼His voice harmonized so well with Bing’s, when they sang White Christmas 🎄.
Mr Kaye was an extremely talented individual
He could sing, dance, be funny, be gentle, tell stories, and about 100 other things, RIP Danny you are missed.

Clean cut funny. I remember as child, watching his movies
Back when just standing on a stage signing a soft song was entertaining 🥀
A truly genuine delightful man.
This segment comes from the final ten minutes of Ed's last Richard Rodgers tribute show filmed at the Hollywood Bowl. Most of this show has been posted here in several different videos. However, this part of the show with Danny was pre-recorded in New York at the Ed Sullivan theatre, and was not filmed at the Bowl. Danny only appeared twice on the Sullivan show with the first time being in 1952 when he performed a scene from his movie "Hans Christian Andersen". At the time of this much later second appearance, Danny was starring in a brand new Rodgers musical (Rodgers was 68 at the time, Kaye was 57) called "Two by Two"; one of his lesser-known later works. It took a lighthearted look at the story of Noah and the Ark. The reviews of the show were mixed but it played a respectable 343 performances. "You" is a song from the musical.
Thank you.
@@EasyE3939 You're welcome!
The story is that he broke his leg. He performed in a wheel chair until the end f the run.
Thank you 🙂
@@lyallg7925 You're welcome!

I think Danny is singing here about his companion, soulmate wife, Sylvia Fine. 💞💖 Love Danny Kaye.
So much talent in one amazing, likable individual.
Miss and love you, Danny Kaye! He was a UNICEF ambassador & loved to cook Chinese food and was quite good at it according to Audrey Hepburn!

Danny grew his hair out a little bit to keep up with the times.
Too bad I saw the date of the performance, I would've liked to have tried guessing the year.
