Most definitely. I remember as a little girl watching The Bob Hope Christmas special with my mom every year. The closest thing anymore is Michael Buble’s Christmas Special but there’s not dancing like before.
Yes, if those critics only saw what we have now for entertainment.😢 Danny Kaye was great and no matter how many times I’ve seen the “Court Jester” I crack up laughing. “White Christmas” holds a special place in my heart as well. I’m only in my 40’s but well remember the days of the Bob Hope specials on TV, fun, wholesome family shows like Carol Burnette, The Muppets, the wonderful Christmas and patriotic shows that were on. When I was in college I sang in “Rosemary Clooney’s White Christmas Show.” She was the last living main cast member of “White Christmas” and there really was a sadness about that. She spoke of each of her starring cast members and as I look back, it really was an end of an era.
Danny Kaye was a phenomenal talent! He never attempted to draw attention away from costars, he complimented them. That way everyone was brilliant. His ego wasn't ever an issue. I ceased watching TV years ago, too much garbage. I much prefer it when people have manners, dress decently, respect themselves and others, speak in sentences that are easily understood and behave in a way that makes you even more proud to be a fan. Our world could certainly benefit from more respect for self and others, dignity, compassion and grace.
My Dad would hire Harry for “The Boulevard” supper club in Queens in the 50’s, and sing Day-O with him! I met Harry in Manhattan later on when I grew up. He was walking home on the upper west side of NYC. He’s so gracious, generous, and loved that we escorted him home totally entertained by just listening to him. He loved it. I wish I knew my Dad hired him back in the day. He would have loved reminiscing about that time. What an amazing talent. I love them all in this video. Danny Kaye so amazing! Lucille gave some much as a comic! And Louis!! Wow! Those were times to be born in. Not the overly tech world it is now and getting more robotic. I’m sure Harry found ppl walking down the streets of Manhattan glued to their phones quite odd. I’m sure barely anyone noticed him being fixed to their phones, missing out on these amazing souls passing them by. Love them all… 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I remember being 8 years old the first time i saw him. After that, I could never get enough. I loved him like a family member. I used to imagine that he was an uncle of mine and one day he would come home and we would sing and dance all day, every day. He was the bright light in the darkness of my childhood. RIP Danny, you were loved by so many people that you never even met
I thought I was the only one who felt like that! I used to imagine he would arrive at my door some day and take me with him. I just wanted so badly to be his child. His warmth and kindness radiated right through the TV screen and made me feel loved and protected. I'm in my 70's and I still tear up remembering how much he meant to me.
A true master of physical comedy, uninhibited (yet controlled) dancing. Great singer, performer and actor. Chef, pilot, humanitarian. They truly do not make them like this anymore.

Absolutely wonderful My smile never left my face ☺️ Now that's entertainment When the world was still so good I'm 54 and this was just what the doctor ordered!!
Special memories growing up watching Danny Kaye with my dad. He never got the credit he really deserved for all his talent! I dont know many that could do the tongue twisters like him. He sang, danced and acted beautifully, and seeing biographies about him being insecure makes you wonder why? He was amazing! I always thought he was a good looking guy, yet they critisized his features. I thought in his height he was an elegant dancer, and his voice was just as good as the rest. Today's actors can't even do half of what the old "vaudeville" types could do. So sad to see that era go. I think it's time for a comeback of those talents. The humor was outstanding.
I always thought Lucille Ball was highly influenced and practically mimicking Danny Kayes act , and was later pleasantly surprised when I learned that she starred in shows with Danny Kaye. She really loved him, and apparently Danny Kaye loved Lucille Ball too. ❤️🕊️☮️
I totally loved all of these great performers. Harry Belafonte, Lucille Ball, Louie Armstrong and the amazing Danny Kay. Wish we had this style back again.
I’m jealous. Although I wasn’t exposed to anything of my era until I was a teenager. I grew up with all the greats from the 30s to 70s. I had a cassette player in my room and my own bunch of cassettes my parents copied from their own or from their LPs and one of them was Danny Kaye the Hans Christian Andersen soundtrack. I loved that one so much. I also had tommy Steele and Doris day just to name a couple more. I did get into modern music, movies and entertainment as a teen and up until my early 30s but I then reverted back to the good stuff.
The Danny Kaye TV Variety Show in the 1960s was one of the delights of my life. My favorite skit was when he portrayed a RCMP officer named "Toronto Tom".
A nice way to honor the memory of Harry Belafonte. Danny Kaye is one of my all-time favorites. In the Goldan Age of Hollywood and TV, performers traded on their personalities, not their "brand". The audience felt that they knew the performer, and could trust them -- that even if the performer went to the edge (here Danny does "black" which would be "cancelled" today), it was a journey together with the audience, and everybody would come back down ok.
Danny and Louis, two of America's greatest entertainers. I recall as a child seeing Kaye on the stage in Chicago. He had the audience singing with him his signature response song. Good times!
❤ Even though Danny Kaye was never known as a jazz singer it is when I heard him sing the inchworm in the film that is stuck with me that I took my inspiration for that song that’s stuck with me for the rest of my life so that every time I sang it, I thought of him I thought he gave it real life
I had a huge crush on Danny Kate as a girl. He was so talented. I remember I never missed any of his TV shows, and watching his movies was a bonus. My crush on Danny was so huge that I married a red-headed man.
As a Child Danny Kaye gave me reason to question what I was told music was. I still to this day love Danny Kaye & carry the brilliance he indirectly taught me as a child.
I just adore Danny Kaye…not only did he have a beautiful singing voice, but he was one of the funniest guys of his time!!! In fact, he costars with Bing Crosby in my all-time favorite movie…”White Christmas”!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful actor, singer, and humanitarian (his work with UNICEF and other children's organizations was phenomenal!). It's still hard to believe that he's gone - R.I.P. Mr. Kaye.
@@anaamaro70 Not true. He had a very successful second career - he was a brilliant cook and an expert on Asian food. He may well have been lonely however, because in his later years in became extremely unpleasant.
It has been forgotten now how popular he was in England. The Royal family turned up unannounced to see him and were given seats in the front row of the stalls.

Louis Armstrong and Danny Kaye! How lucky the world is to have a glimpse of two great Talents together from years past, so they can see what real and true Talent is over and above the"talent" manufactured" in this day and age, whose entertainment life and be measured in days, weeks or even months, depending on what "social media" thinks. Jan 2020 been watching since before god lol. I’m 65, and watched every pioneer in the industry. The 50’s were exciting when Tv exploded and most all had a little black n white the entire family watched. Our pioneers were incredible and no movies will EVER hold a candle to these greats! They’ll have to surpass them. Danny was supremely talented in his dancing singing and acting but my fave was Hans Christian Anderson because he really loved and treasured that role, as he said in an interview back then. Treasured pioneer!!! 🙏🏻❤️
I have collected almost 200 movies over the last 10 years just so I can watch without commercial interruptions. I regret not filling my library with more of his works. It is my thinking that Clint Eastwood was to Westerns,. Danny Kaye was to comedy and musicals
There never will be another Danny Kaye. He was simply talented in everything. A true Renaissance Man. Rare & always a total treat to view. Dancing & his endless imitations were unique especially today. Nothing like him since.
wow thank you!!!! now i want to see more of Danny Kaye! I grew up with him on the tv, in the movies and on my parents' stereo! One song i particularily remember is "Bloop Bleep" about a drippy faucet in the middle of the night. I think he might have also done a version of "I'm my own grandpa" but maybe it was someone else?
I had such a crush on Danny Kay, I must've been about 6/7ish. I remember clearly when it was announced that he had passed away, I was at work, in my mid 20's, and it just hit me so hard that I went to a room with no one there and sat and cried. He gave us wonderful memories.
The days of multi-talented performers are, sadly, long gone. Put Danny Kaye and Sammy Davis Jr. on a stage or screen, and kick back--they could do it all.
I am not disagreeing with you, but I do think it might be more a matter of the proper material not being written/composed as an avenue for the multi-talented. For instance, Lucille Ball's bit made me think of Cindy Lauper. Off the top-of-my-head others, include: Michael Jackson (lost too early, but still of this generation) had serious acting skills; Hugh Jackman; Neil Patrick Harris, etc. You do raise an issue dear to my old-fashioned heart. We should encourage networks to continue to bring back musicals! There have been a few recently ("The Sound of Music,"* "Peter Pan," and "Grease"* were some of them), on network t.v., and they seemed to have been surprisingly popular. The big-screen version of Les Miserables (sp?) helped to begin the resurgence. Let's keep our fingers crossed. *I am not endorsing these examples as being better than the originals. Simply glad that their re-introductions may help to inspire the younger generations and boost the appreciation of -- and a "demand" for -- multi-talented performers.
There are still multi-talented people. Less is asked of them now. Justin Timberlake and sing, act, dance, Bruno Mars can do the same..there are others, but the past generation was the best.
Real talent, having fun and entertaining like we will never see again. Danny could do it all and with grace. Add Louis, Lucy and Harry and you've got a classic.
Thank you so much Buzz Stephens for posting this incredible 15 minutes with the most talented entertainer we have ever seen - Daniel David Kaminsky - he has no peers. I have just laughed until I cried watching him with Harry Belafonte, then seeing the incredible Lucille Ball with him eating at the French restaurant and topped off with Satchmo - unparalleled pieces all of them. I have bookmarked your post so I can watch whenever I need a "feel good" moment. I'm sure my cats think I have finally gone crazy - laughing out loud at this as I watched it all by myself. What a joy - thanks again !!!
The sad thing is there aren't performers like this or variety shows like this anymore.

Danny Kaye was a Seriously underrated talented performer. Brilliant comedic timing and expression: singing dancing, acting- he had it all. ⭐️
Harry Belafonte was so handsome! And they had such good sympathy together! ❤
Danny Kaye and Louis Armstrong segment amazing.
I loved watching Danny Kaye as a child.
So sad to have lost Harry Belafonte. Never was anyone like Danny Kaye.
Wonderful! I realise how much I miss Danny Kaye, and mr Belafonte will be missed too!
I absolutely adore Danny Kaye. He was so much fun. I never turn down the opportunity to watch him clowning around. Or singing, acting. He was great
I had such a crush on Danny Kay, I must've been about 6/7ish. I remember clearly when it was announced that he had passed away, I was at work, in my mid 20's, and it just hit me so hard that I went to a room with no one there and sat and cried. He gave us wonderful memories.
Love danny Kay. His guests were great. Love Louie Armstrong. ❤️
I have loved that man since I was a little girl ❤ He was truly a star. A shiny bright star!!
Not gone, just the industry doesn't care much for them anymore. It's all about social media over substance now.
Danny has always been one of my favs! Thank you for posting this video! He’s always a pleasure to see.
Real talent, having fun and entertaining like we will never see again. Danny could do it all and with grace. Add Louis, Lucy and Harry and you've got a classic.
❤❤❤❤❤
Talent only gets you so far. Danny was a hard worker to get his routines right, I thought.
And Lena Horne and Ella Fitzgerald as well. They were on his show at one time or another, too.
