You are so right. I was around 44 when I realized that there was no destination that was happiness. Happiness is a choice. Don’t give other people the power to dictate your mood. For me the realization happened when a discussion with someone (who was an a-hole) and we had a very contentious and mean phone call. But now friends see a different side of me, a side that they liked better. Instead of coming home and complaining about work, I made my self a source of happiness for my wife and kids in my family. I tried to always be positive or faked it. I went to a psychologist-that was helpful, but the main reason was that I chose to be happy. A few years later a cancer diagnosis happened. I received news in 2014 that I had less than 1% chance of making it to 2017. It is now 2024. I remained happy. I could be sick and sad and cry over my misfortune. However, I didn’t. Yes, Ricky is an atheist, but he mocks himself and atheism just like any other “belief” system. What he does not do is preach atheism or protest to convert others to his beliefs. They fail to realize that that kind of tyranny is indeed offensive to most.

As someone who used to program my vcr to record Seinfeld, friends, and Frazier every Thursday night I am so grateful there was no woke mob back then. We laughed all the time back then. We also didn’t have a mental health crisis back then because children and adults were allowed to enjoy life instead of pushing doom and gloom, racusm and white hote on every single man woman and child. Spelling on purpose due to censoring
As a Gen-Xer, I saw it on TV every Thursday on NBC as it came out. It was the best night for TV (Friends was also on that night), and Seinfeld is one of the best sitcoms ever created. (Even though it isn't REALLY about nothing...) Too many shows and movies now are sanitized by these embedded woke teams that screen all the ideas. The dialogue gets watered down to simplistic, unimaginative droning. Just watch Uncle Buck and compare it to Book Club 2 to get an example. We need to bring back true artistic creative expression, because right now it's on life support.
Well looks like the nazis erased my comment. Which is pretty weak when you see what I wrote. I used to set my vcr on Thursdays to record Seinfeld, friends and Frazier. Best night of tv. Had to record it because they were on thirsty Thursdays so I was out clubbing lol

@@Rustie_za your talking about one single aspect or type of privilege. I'm talking about earned privilege. I was not confused. Just a little vague and heated😔 Respect is also earned, yes. But it can also come from a privileged position like you said. If you where born into a wealthy family that is your luck. But it WAS earned by someone in your family and you benefit. Your benefit does not degrade the earned privilege. It validates it! Well, that's what I think anyhow.
@@anderslarsson7426 Apparently the people on this channel don't understand what the idea of privilege is about and think that things you earn through hard work count as privilege. Something the privilege debate doesn't care about at all. It's about systemic advantages given to a populace on a race-based system. Like my grandparents got a cheap house due to war loans which my Black contemporaries could not have. Thus, I descended from people in houses (which is known to improve academics for example) while some of them did not even though their grandparents fought in the same war.
Cool, I did too. I also benefitted from privilege. Deceiving oneself about the degree to which you may have been advantaged is nothing to be proud of. It does not diminish real accomplishments. It just means not taking credit for winning on a skewed playing field. Those of us who have made real accomplishments certainly wish we had done so without such privileges. But we don't play pretend.

As a Gen-Xer, I saw it on TV every Thursday on NBC as it came out. It was the best night for TV (Friends was also on that night), and Seinfeld is one of the best sitcoms ever created. (Even though it isn't REALLY about nothing...)
Too many shows and movies now are sanitized by these embedded woke teams that screen all the ideas. The dialogue gets watered down to simplistic, unimaginative droning. Just watch Uncle Buck and compare it to Book Club 2 to get an example. We need to bring back true artistic creative expression, because right now it's on life support.

What does that have to do with privilege ?
