"Oh, hello sir"....Has anyone told you in the last ten minutes how adorable you are? No? Then I guess it's my turn now. You are adorable!
Kudos to you for recognizing the octave drop Tim does in the harmony part after his solo. Most reactors never hear that element.
And welcome to the rabbit hole that is Home Free.
So true... im always waiting for reactors to notice that but they usually blow right by it because they are in shock from hearing Tim for the first time
Of the dozens of reactors to this song, this is the first I've caught that noted that octave drop...I snagged it the 1st time I heard it! My only accomplishment perhaps!
yeah, many of them actually pause to comment on his solo, and miss it. at least she rewinds after a pause
@@williemcd There are several reactors that noted that drop. Elizabeth from the Charismatic Voice, Julia Nixon, Danielle Marie, and the list goes on
I forgot of Katriinka, Molly Bee, Madeleine Harvey
Another Tim Foust moment.
😂😂
😂😂
I've seen women blush in the video when he kicks in. 😳 🤣
One of the best timgasms lol
Lol love it
Home Free How Great Thou Art
Austin set her up....Tim took her down.....another home-fry is born
I love watching people react to Home Free. Especially when a female hears Tim's bass for the first time.
You're not wrong... and I'm never disappointed lol.
timgasms
A human equalizer!! Tim Foust- "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay"
Welcome to the deep rabbit hole that is Homefree. They are phenomenal.
"His voice sounds like he swallowed a pipe organ" XD THAT IS SO TRUE!!!!! I'm subscribed for Buffy, but I would absolutely resubscribe for this alone. Check out their cover of Ring of Fire ft. Avi Kaplan. It's practically a bass masterclass, on top of just being an awesome song.
I just about fell out of my chair laughing when she said that. So true :)
You've only entered the rabbit hole with them! Give a listen to Folsum Prison Blues, In the Blood and Ring of Fire. They are amazing! BTW, to truly enjoy them, you need headphones.
Yes, headphones are needed for a cappella or a lot of the sounds are missed!
@@dagmar.6954 Nah, you just need to connect to a decent sound system. (I will acknowledge that headphones are cheaper)
Or a REALLY nice sound system. I happen to have that so I can move around when listening, but headphones are the cheaper option and give you a similar experience. I agree with you, headphones are the way to go.
You gotta do mayday also
Naw, this isn't a rabbit hole. Its a deep fryer.
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. They have many songs out there. When a Man Loves a Woman, American Pie, End of the Road. Just a few suggestions to start you off .
This is one of my favorite musical performances!!! It is absolutely amazing to listen to!!!!!!
Welcome to Home Free! (I spy a new Home Fry here!) This group does country, gospel, pop, rock, rap, and sea shanties! Cover songs and originals. Four singers and a beatboxer. Between the 4 singers, there are 3 tenors, 2 basses, and 2 baritones. You will need to watch more videos to see/hear that magic. And Adam Rupp (beatboxer) provides the instrumentation--drums, harmonica, castanets, didgeridoo, etc. The most common suggestions to new reactors are: use headphones and listen to at least 6 Home Free songs before listening to their cover of Mayday. Enjoy!
4 = 3 + 2 + 2 I love it!! Also you're right about "Mayday." Six HF songs may be sufficient, but only if they include solos by all 4 of the singing members (Adam very rarely sings.) Elsewhere in another comment, arnieadam offers an excellent playlist that will give you samples of each singer's voice, range, and style. I'll also add "American Pie" to those recommendations -- it requires solos from all 4 singers.
@@greatauntielou6158 Yes Adam is an amazing singer as well.
Home Free are something else - They have two stellar tenors - Austin Brown, the high tenor here in the middle and Rob Lundquist the lead tenor (beard and glasses). Adam Chance, left side back, is their baritone but he can easily cover bass when their bass is taking the lead. Their beatboxer, who founded the group with his brother when they were still at school is Adam Rupp, otherwise called "freak of nature" or "human drumkit" is unbelievable. Tim Foust the bass is a genuine rare basso profundo (deepest of basses) and believe me you haven't heard anything yet - during concerts he rattles chairs and floors when he hits really low or takes sound-systems out some time and he has an unbelievable 5 octave range up to a tenor. In this group anyone gets to shine, whoever's voice suits the song the best takes the lead which makes them incredibly versatile. But more that anything these guys are down to earth and they can go from serious to completely hilarious from one song to another, they are born comedians (especially Tim Foust).
I've been watching some home free history, and Tim's sense of humor is part of the reason why they wanted him.
You really need to see Home Free in concert to get the complete experience.
Technically, Austin is the lead tenor of the group, but I love how they switch it up.
Thank you for all that background info. They are fantastic, but I couldn't figure out why.
Can you please tell me who does the Tibetan throat singing?
Bass guy you better get a hold of that girl, that’s an angel from heaven, my boy!?
that sound you wondered about.....it's a mouth harp and his imitation of the sound is spot on.
Tim Foust - the bass has a 5 octave range. They all are incredible singers.
Oh, there is SO MUCH more Home Free for you to discover! Check out one of their newer releases, a cover of Dire Straits "Brothers In Arms," (that one does not have vocal percussion) or perhaps you would like to see their more fun side in "All About That Bass." Thanks for this great reaction, and welcome to the best musical rabbit hole you'll find!
can't forget butts remix
Their version of Ring of fire, Peter Hollens and Tim Foust in Misty Mountains, Home Free - The sing off - season 4 all performances (for fun part) and so on and so on.. 👍
All About That Bass also has a Behind the Scenes Blooper Reel that is hilarious.
"Oh Hello sir!" Who else was waiting for this moment?
P.S. If you think that is low, wait till the end of Misty Mountain, lol...
With ear buds you will hear much more.
Oh yea....that bass....I was a fan girl since the first time I heard Tim sing.
The "strange sound" is an imitation of an old instrument once known as a Jew's Harp. The name is a corruption of the French Jeu Tromp (toy trumpet). The mouth organ is just a couple of pieces of metal that makes an odd twang when pluck. It is partly inserted in the mouth and the spring part is plucked.
These guys are for real. When you get around to "Helplessly Hoping" and "When a Man Loves a Woman," you may very well fall outta your chair. Oh ... you need headphones to get the full effect because the harmonies are so intricate.
End of the road. Rob crushes it.
Ryan, that was my exact thought. Given SoFie is a vocal coach, I was thinking the same thing, Helplessly Hoping & When a Man... And after that, I would recommend 'Ring of Fire'. Regardless SoFie, you can't go wrong with any Home Free Covers. Great Reaction and I look forward to more!
Yes need head phones
Auld lang syne is a masterful song of harmonies.
when the deep dude comes in on reactions, the girls all just melt
Have you heard them sing Nessum Dorma? Roll over Pavarotti!!! FLAWLESS.
This is the song that got me hooked on Home Free. I don't even like most country music except Home Free and a few others. But they can sing most anything. Their music helped me through the pandemic. I just saw them in concert three months ago. I'm one of many Home Fries (dedicated Home Free fans)
Basso Profundo with a 5 octave range, very unique talent, then again all 5 of these guys are way above the norm in terms of talent. Great group.
OMG ..YOU MIGHT BE THE FIRST PERSON I HAVE SEEN THAT NOTICED THE BASS WAS AN OCTAVE LOWER IN TIMS VOICE .....WOW....MIND BLOWN ..LOL
A ring of fire Home Free
Tim Foust (the bass singer here) just released a mashup "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow / Stay" you should check out. It's basically him showing off his range with music he loves. "Man of Constant Sorrow" is several years old and Tim has since cut his hair and let the gray show.
My favorite group ever! Yes!!!
Home Free are phenomenally talented! May I suggest your reaction to
"END OF THE ROAD"
" WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN"
" TRY EVERYTHING"
" ONE MAN BAND"
Thank you so much! Anxious to see more Home Free!
Come on man you forget the best cover "Mayday"
HOME FREE Ain't Goin' Down ('Til The Sun Comes Up)
Welcome to the wonderful world of HOME FREE. You just started down the rabbit hole, and there is so much more to explore.
What a pleasant surprise to find one of my favorite Buffy reactors listening to one of my favorite musical groups!
The sound you don't recognize is a jaw harp or mouth harp, a traditional instrument in Appalachian music, expertly imitated by Adam Chance (baritone).
To me it sounded like an Australian didgeridoo 😁
@@ishachayil820 The two instruments sound about the same. I'm voting for mouth harp based on the country style of the piece itself.
@@ishachayil820 I don't think so. Compare Chance's jews harp here to Adam's didgeridoo in Home Free Drum Solo. One is much much deeper all around than the other.
It has many names, it is dated as far back as 18th century BCE.
chance is not a baritone, he's a bass-baritone and pretty much has the same low chest range as tim
They sounded so "country" in this song because it suited the song. They bill as a country acapella group, but they cover many different genres. That bass, Tim Foust, has a 5 octave range. For more bass, listen to "Brother's in Arms." To explore that high tenor's sweet voice, listen to his cover of "When A Man Loves A Woman." Rob, the tenor with the "bright voice" has a talent for a bit of a bluesy soul twist...one he takes lead on is "End of the Road." The beatboxer, Adam Rupp, really shines in his drum solo (search for Home Free Drum solo...he's in a red shirt). Adam Chance their bass/baritone, takes the lead on, "Cover Me Up." Those will give you a taste of each talent.@
Excellent suggestions! One of Adam's "drum solos" (from a live show in 2015) is here: ua-cam.com/video/EanKWLUaDpg/v-deo.html
To see Tim’s impressive upper register I would suggest “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay” or Austin and Tim (with friends) on “My Maria”. His vocal range is crazy.
Yes lmao that is the point of the song😅😂
Timmy put out a doo-wop album too.
Great comment 👍 good suggestions ❤
Welcome to Home Free!!
You absolutely must do home free when a man loves a woman it’ll melt you like butter.
hello ma'am !!! Welcome to the world of Home Free. Yes they are acapella and yes they do lean country but are SO MUCH MORE. They do ma lot of covers but they also have many original songs of their own, some even written by the band members. A few to think about reacting to... Brothers in Arms, Dive Bar Saints, Workin' for a livin', and How Great Thou Art. I just subbed for more Home Free reactions
Not sure if this was what you were asking, but: that twanging sound was an emulation of a Mouth Harp (for which Wikipedia has an article). If that wasn’t what you were asking and/or was something you already knew, apologies for cluttering your feed. :)
Guessing you already know this, but just in case: they also do a cover of Seven Bridges Road which you may enjoy.
Good o Kentucky born and raised here couldn't think of any better place it's so beautiful.
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. To really get to know how talented they are and what they can do. Watch and react to their performances on the 2013 Sing Off which, they won. Tim Foust is the bass singer and has a 5 octave range.
"He just sang that same part an octave lower!" Good catch! Tim Foust, the bass, has a five octave range (!). He's just released an album of doo-wop classics inwhich he covers all the parts (Thank you multi-tracking). If you want to hear his upper registers, catch his cover, along with Tenor Austin Brown, of "My Maria".
When I first saw the vid (some Home Fries ago and my first Home Free video), I thought it was Chance who went down low but, though he can bass some, he cain't bass that low!
Thanks for catching the octave drop, I loved watching the voicegasm from Tim, hearing the drop showed us you are a true pro.
It's our Southern accent sweety! We love our Southern Boys.
I found these guys last year. This was the first song I ever heard from them & I was instantly hooked. The talent of these 5 men is insane. Together they are a perfect fit & complement each other so well. Tim Foust is the best bass singer in the business & Adam Rupp their beatboxer extraordinaire can make any sounds & is in a class by himself. They lean towards country but can sing any genre. They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.
I just found them a couple months ago!! I love them
@@theresaswallows4274 Welcome to the Home Free family!
@@theresaswallows4274 I was searching for Union Station's man of constant sorrow, found this one, listened to all of their songs and then my car speakers went boom.
@@roccopantaloons9115 Dammit Tim!
Another stunning bass is geoff castalucci ftom voiceplay. Similar range to tim.
If you like the bass Home Frees cover of folsom prison blues you'll get all the vocals from all the guys and Tim's bass drop to a G1. Great reaction
Loved your face at Tim's solo...welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole.
The sound you hear right off the bat (the bullfrog sound) and in the background for the song is the baritone guy Adam Chase (guy back left) using an almost Mongolian throat singing technique.
Oh and Tim, the Bass guy...he can actually cover 5 octaves...no joke! Watch their cover of Mayday....yyou will be shocked.
Congratulations!!! You are one of the few reactors I've heard noticing Tim went lower after his solo! Great reaction!
Yes they are acapella to the bone and they're in a league of their own!!! I invite you to come and join the Home Free Fan Club and when you do, you'll be known as a "HOME FRY!!!" Their catalogue is super deep too, so hold on for the ride of your life because although they have that country flavor, they sing all types of genres...and to give you a taste of that, I encourage you to react to the Home Free cover of The O'Jays song "Love Train" and their cover of Boyz II Men "End Of The Road." These guys never miss and they will never disappoint you!!! Oh by the way, that "thump" you just heard was my "Mic-Drop!!!"
Welcome to the Home Free Family
Tim Faust , the Basesinger, can much more deeper.
Finde it out , you will love it
Greetings from Germany 🇺🇸🇩🇪🇺🇸🇩🇪🇺🇸🇩🇪🇺🇸
Welcome to the Home Fry family you're getting ready to go down the deepest rabbit hole ever these boys are non-stop entertainment... The sound your hearing at the beginning is the sound of a didgeridoo by Mr Adam Chance he is doing that all by mouth.
Great reaction! New subscriber! Came for the Home Free! 5 very talented guys. Welcome to your Home Free journey! Enjoy! They have so much amazing music to choose from! Thank you for your reaction! Stay safe and healthy and have a blessed day!
Polyphonic undertone singing! Also known as throat singing, Inuit and Mongolian singers specialise in this form!
The Hu are a great example of this. Yuve yuve yu.
I have watched many reactions to this video. You are the only one to catch Tim's octave drop on the repeat. You have a great musical ear.
Your first reaction to the bassist is priceless 🤣😂😄
The first sound is an instrument called a jaw harp. It’s being done by Adam Chance(the baritone/bass).
The HOME FREE RABBIT HOLE is an awesome fun trip😘‼️❤️. There are over 160 videos here on UA-cam…..& they are ALL AMAZING ❤️‼️💥
This is one of the first songs I heard from Home Free. Adam's beatboxing
is phenomenal and it took me a while to realize that there was no
harmonica. And the bass is fantastic. I love this masterpiece from Home
Free. Great reaction!
The sound is like a jaw harp, and they are a country acapella group !!
The instrument that is most prominently being imitated at the beginning and end of the piece that "you are not sure what it is" is called a jaw harp. Adam Chance (the baritone of the group) is the one creating the jaw harp sound with his voice.
It's always fun to watch a new reactor meet Home Free. They have been a band for twenty years. Try their versions of "Helplessly Hoping", "In the blood", "How great thou art", or "When a man loves a woman". All are excellent and all are a lot of fun.
The best at every thing they do and can bring out a range of emotions. Great collabs with others and love their fans and use them in some videos. If you want to go down this rabbit hole ya need to go all the way.
thats always what i say when i listen to TIm. "Hello Sir"
Welcome to HOME FREE !!
HOME FREE is a county A Capella band (NO INSTRUMENTS) that does more than just country. Tim Foust, the bass (5 octave range) , Adam Rupp, the beatboxer (freak of nature), Adam Chance (Chance) is the baritone/bass, since 2016, he took over for Chris Rupp (one of the founders of the group), Rob Lundquist, tenor and Austin Browmn high tenor make up the voices of angels. PLEASE listen to more.. If I know my Home Free family well (Home Fries) , they have already given you suggestions of music. LOL Thanks for the reaction
--------------------------------------------
i've loved these guys for over a decade and see them every time they're within 300 miles of me. welcome to the home fry rabbit hole. adam rupp, the beatboxer, is the best in the world and tim foust, the bass, has the lowest note of popular acapella groups. he vibrates the entire theater when he goes real low. if you want to see his range check out his new single release Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/ Stay. he goes incredibly high. the sound is a jaw harp
I absolutely love seeing people hearing Home Free for the first time. Your reaction was great! Home Free does a lot of country covers, but they can do anything. Listen to their cover of Boyz II Men "End of the Road" and the old Rick Atchley song "Never Gonna Give You Up" (but beware--they "cut up" on "Never Gonna Give You Up" and have a lot of fun with it--and as someone who was young when the original came out, this is one that I just laughed at their poking fun at the 80's; the vocals are no less impressive, but they just have so much fun with it). I also suggest "When a Man Loves a Woman". It is absolutely fantastic. None of these is country, so you'll get an idea of Home Free's range in terms of what they can do with different genres. The bass is Tim Foust. He has a five octave range. To hear him at his best, try his collaboration with Peter Hollens in "Misty Mountain" (from the movie "The Hobbit").
Forget the reaction . You are a stunner , God bless your mother !!
Home Free is a country Acapella group. They are the first such group. This is one of two songs that they used a repeater device. The sound at the beginning and throughout the song is coming from baritone Adam Chance affectionately referred to as Chance by Home Fries. The rest of the sound effects come from the last founding member of the group Adam Rupp. The glasses and beard is Rob Lundquist. The other tenor is Austin Brown. Last but most certainly not least is Tim Foust the group's super bass.
And the bass (Tim) still has another octave to use. Now, go try "Helplessly Hoping", "In the Blood", and "Brothers in Arms" to get a true picture of their harmonization.
I love reactions to this song. Do more home free. Buffy would want you to. 😉
The beat boxer is two time world champion beat boxer, I believe.
Hi Sofie, in this line-up; Austin Brown[ red hair blonde] LEAD TENOR; Rob Lundquist [over-alls/glasses] HARMONIC TENOR; Tim Foust [long hair, cut short a year ago] 5-octave range BASS; Adam Rupp [hat/black suspenders] BEAT BOXER/VOCAL PERCUSSIONIST; Adam Chance aka Chance [black vest/hat] BASS BARITONE, mouth harp. Original member/co-founder Chris Rupp, Adam's brother left 2016, replaced by Chance. You might see him in older music videos. The Leads and/or Solos switches around depending on song. HOME FREE won Season 4 of The Sing-Off on NBC. [Pentatonix won Season 3]. Thanks and check out their music videos as well as all their Sing-Off performances.
Love seeing new people react to Home Free. They are my favorite group by far. Just subbed for more Home Free
This is the same song that got me hooked on Home Free a couple of years ago. They have a deep catalogue of videos covering most genres, so you have a lot to choose from. Tim Foust is the bass singer, and he is a true basso profundo capable of going much, much lower.
The twangy sound is the sound of a mouth harp. Basically a spring instrument that is held in the mouth and plucked, yet they use only their voices to make the sound
This is a a capella group. All sounds are done by mouth. The sound you heard first is called a "juice harp". It is an older instrument that can change pitch by changing the volume of your mouth. The harmonica sound and drums are also by mouth.
Mr pipe organ (Tim Foust) has a 5 octave range. You should hear his just released "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow". He sings all the parts himself. Home Free is amazing and they have many great songs for you to check out.
The sound you found so interesting at the start and end of the song was done by Adam Chance (the one that looks like Will Wheaton if you know who that is). The sound is mimicking an instrument called a jaw harp. (plus some sounds I don't think a jaw harp can make) The beat boxer, Adam Rupp (yes, there are two Adams in the group, Adam Chance goes by his last name to avoid confusion) is a two time world champion in beatboxing competitions. You aren't the first person by far to say he's a human drum kit.
welcome to a very deep and satisfying rabbit hole. Everything the sing is amazing.
We Southerners push our "Rs" and have that twang in our voice.
That sound is an Instrument called a
didg·er·i·doo
an Australian Aboriginal wind instrument in the form of a long wooden tube, traditionally made from a hollow branch, which is blown to produce a deep, resonant sound, varied by rhythmic accents of timbre and volume.
If possible you should definitely check out their rendition of the End of the Road from boys to men….😊
Great attention to detail in this review. This group is phenomenal, as you will discover. Adam Rupp, the beat boxer and co-founder of the group, has won two champion beat boxing competitions and can make sounds you would believe are impossible to make via voice. Big suggestion: wear a good set of headphones when listening to acapella groups or you will miss some of the subtle sounds made in the performances. If you want to hear awesome harmony, check out their cover of "Helplessly Hoping."
"Hello Sir!" has me in stitches XD
Yes, welcome to the Tim Foust chill moment, he is amazing.
Reproductive specialists report that nine out of ten women ovulate at the sound of Tim Foust's voice.
Ha
Indeed, I ovulate, and am most definitely a women. It happens, what can I say?
@@Plastikdoom Inspired by practicallly unanimous extreme female gushing in reaction vids over Castelucci's voice in this piece, I made a joke,. not realizing that in these times it would sink under the weight of gender identity controversy. Ah, well. Oops, did I say "female?" That was of course my bigoted bias.! Ovulation is no clear indication of gender; fortunately for the sake of true accuracy you self-ID'd as a woman!
@@anotheryou218 ehh, stupid typo and autocorrect strikes yet again, was supposed to say I ovulate and not a woman, it left out “not”
I don't know whether you were using ear buds, but you really need some kind of ear phone/head phone to truly appreciate some of the bass things that Tim does. I'm glad that you picked up on going an octave down on the echo after his solo.
When Tim started singing his part, she got the vapors, hahahahaha......as we southern girls says
I first fell in love with this on o brother where art thou. These guys are just fantastic.
This performance is a nice introduction, but there is so much more to hear. While they lean country, they cover many genres. Their harmonies are amazing. I would suggest their cover of “In The Blood” followed by “ Brothers In Arms” or just go to their UA-cam channel and pick a song.
Enjoyed it, ma'am. This here's a great road to travel down with Home Free. For another goodun, try another A Cappella group called Voiceplay. They have an equally impressive bass man by the name of Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci who, as a bass singer myself, I personally like better than Home Free's man, Tim Foust. Geoff also has some covers he does on his own channel. Please do yourself and us humble listeners a favor by reactin to em. Thank ye and I hope you and your's have a goodun ✝️🇺🇸🤠
OH MY GOD . SOFIE MY LOVE 😍❤️ . YOU ARE NOW PART OF US " HOME FRIES" .. I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THESE SO LONG . MORE OF HOME FREE PLEASE . 😍🥰
By maintaining eye contact... They destroy the 4th wall. They aren't singing to the camera, they are singing DIRECTLY to each member of their AUDIANCE. They take command and keep it.
When we hear "Home Free" + "I've never heard them before" things are always interesting xD
