I am a 63, nearly 64, year old man, grandfather of five. I have to have a box of tissues or wad of paper towels at hand because I cry every single time Tim hits that note. Sometimes it's just a large welling up of tears and sometimes it shudders up from inside me and the tears just flow. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I've almost become clinically obsessed with observing myself do this over and over. Is it the note or actual frequency that triggers this? It doesn't even seem emotionally tied into the song anymore. It happens whether I listen to the whole song, or, as in this vid, just the last two lines over and over. I've never experienced anything like this. Have any if you?
I have. There's just certain notes and songs that, without warning, cause an instant flood of tears. It makes me intensely cry as well; not all always emotional, just a release. In fact I hope this was all spelled right b/c my screen is really blurry. Fiddles make do this too if it plays a haunting tone. Plus, at least for me, music like this conjures the image of men sailing in wooden ships, they've just kissed their wives and made their 7 year old boy the man of the house knowing he most likely won't be coming home. They're going to war and they're making their peace before battle. It's heart breaking.
Paul downing [ rip] natural speaking voice was in g2, actually this is not special , trust me if you broach the subject and look into the great basses of all time-- there are better... even Tim knows this
We are energy and frequency affects that. When they sing it’s like an emotional bath if you will. Certain notes resonate with certain individuals. We all vibrate at different frequency’s and have our own tune. This note literally hits a cord in you/us.
I’m a decent bass. It depends on like your voice and your range, but for a lot of people, their natural growl is usually around that area (G#1, G1) I’m not a professional bass by any means. Just from my personal experience.
Growls are extremely hard. The frequencies are hard to hit to begin with, but it takes some vocal strain to get your vocal chords to vibrate in a way they aren’t familiar with. I’ve been trying subharmonics. I can get down to an F1. I don’t really practice growl a lot because I’m not gonna wreck my voice to attempt it
Pandi ‘s I’m pretty knew to subharmonics. I started a few months ago. This might seem pretty obvious, but is your speaking voice low to begin with? If so, those lower notes will naturally be lower. Geoff Caustelucci of Voiceplay has some great videos on subharmonics. A lot of bass stuff I know today is from him
Marcelo, you seem to have caught some of my favorite reactors. Why didn’t you end the video with your own? Lol. You do great bass reviews. Well, since you like a capella, Home Free, Voice Play and good bass, I’m a new subscriber.
Male or femaie doesn't seem to matter. Tims voice seems to resonate with the prostate as well. It's damn funny watching some of these guys discovering a part of themselves for the first time. No matter what gender you are, his voice gonna make you feel real pretty.
soft, breathy. if you are talking about what Tim uses here its called the growl technique which is basically a vibration of your false chords (not you "voice" per say)
@@Marcell0Bass ok that's kind of what I was figuring I've been comparing a lot of bass singers lowest notes here lately and oh my goodness ken turner I think has Foust beat in my opinion ken I feel has actual clear tone registry when hitting major lows
That sounds like he’s throat singing almost. Edit: Turns out he’s growling which is very similar. Man that part is not the hard part to me(besides how smoothly he transitions to it. I can make the sound but not right after singing), the hard part is actually singing words that deep and having the crisp sound to it. I can’t figure out how he’s doing it!
I tried hitting that note myself and I feel like i managed it, what I did was I just say uhhhhh and add more breath into it like a whisper/exhale. I don't know if it'll work for you but I hope it helps a bit.
Yah, it sounded like a growl to me. I can hit that same lowest note.. I can easily articulate with the rest of the notes.. they are simply my normal low end of my register. That lowest note, tends to also be a growl for me. Perhaps if I warmed up, I could articulate those notes better.
Marcello Bass What about Oogie Boogie’s Song? Don’t forget that one blond vocal coach, I forget her name but she has the best reaction! I can find it if you need me to.
Warning: If you go, rather when you go to a Home Free concert/party don't sit in the front of the sub-woofers on the sides. Tim will rattle your bones along with the chair you're sitting on and everything else.
Maybe it’s just me because I can sing bass but I’m much more mystified when he hits a G1 or at least A2 cheat because that’s my max trough I can hit in chest without relying on subharmonics😂
Great compilation, but the zoom-ins really mess it up for me. Right when they are reacting the whole screen changes and you lose focus on them and miss the initial reaction.
What better time to promote myself than this? I did a cover of this song. If you look up Misty Mountains Ian Corrigan you should find it. I sing alongside Brady O’Brien, and I successfully hit Tim’s G#1
