      There's two things you need to do: 1. build muscle aka the metabolism boosting - calorie burning body tissue. 2. learn how to track macros and eat at calorie deficit - the three building blocks of calories. Try 30% of total calories fats, .8-1g of protein per body weight, and the rest carbs. If this is confusing, start learning it now.
      Surprisingly you can eat better and more than you think, if home cooked. Also, mostly every item he listed here you can eat, and are eaten by those people who successfully lose weight. Make sure you get into the habbit of buying groceries every week, cooking your meals every day - this active activity will help you be hand on regarding tracking. Eat for fuel for physical and or cognitive endeavors and post recovery only, no boredom eating nor eating for fun (yet - only when youve earned it by building enough calorie burning muscles).

I was urinating almost non-stop. I developed an insatiable thirst. I was to the point that I started checking my blood glucose levels thinking I was a diabetic. Then it hit me that I was not hyperglycemic, but I was “hyper-Sucralosemic”! All symptoms resolved when I stopped consuming Sucralose. It behaved like an osmotic diuretic in my body. As a nurse, I always found that taking the time to read "nutritional information" facts on products was very scary. When you take the time to actually look up some ingredients, you realize you should not be putting poisons in your body. I once worked as a community health supervisor for the Red Cross and made it my mission to try and get low income people to eat healthier. It wasn't easy. I distinctly remember my mom buying margarine in the early 60's. It was basically white and came with a little bubble of orange colored liquid which you would mix into the margarine to color it. I don't even want to know what was in there 🙄 Thank you Dr for another amazing video.

    "A labelling trick, called LYING" genius. I learned that labelling trick the painful way many times over when trying to clean up my eating due to allergies to wheat, gluten, yeast, back in 2005. I found out, painfully, that the food companies do not have the consumer's best interests at heart and the only way to eat was whole foods. Everything in moderation! Including advice. Many of the items on this list are just fine if you make them yourself. Bread is an ancient food that humans have been consuming for thousands of years with few negative health effects. Bake your own bread at home and you'll eliminate most of the problems described here. The same goes for fruit juice. Buy a good blender and make your own. It tastes better than the prepackaged stuff in the store and it's good for you.

      @@RotatingLocomotive Being scientifically accurate makes a big difference. @ukpsmiling2 is absolutely correct. If these experts are not scientifically accurate, how can we believe anything they say?
      Look at the "Enriched Noodles", they are just wheat flour and eggs "enriched" with Niacin (vitamin B3), Ferrous sulfate is a type of iron that's used as a medicine to treat and prevent iron deficiency anaemia. Iron helps the body to make healthy red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body, Thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2) and Folic acid which is another B vitamin. It helps the body make healthy new cells. Do you have to eat canned chicken noodle soup - No, can you make it fresh yourself - absolutely yes!
      Then take MSG for instance, its the sodium salt of glutamic acid, which is found naturally in food like tomatoes, mushrooms, aged cheeses such as parmesan and Roquefort and aged beef. It is also produced by the body. Under normal conditions, humans can metabolize relatively large quantities of glutamate, which is naturally produced in the gut in the course of protein hydrolysis. In Asian cuisine, cooking kombu (seaweed) with protein creates the the sodium salt of gutamic acid (MSG). The white powdery subtance on kombu is not mold, its the amino acid glutamine. Interaction of the kombu broths with other umami-producing ingredients like bonito flakes (katsuobushi) or shitake mushrooms creates natural flavor enhancers. Bonito flakes have inosinic acid, and shitakes have guanylate, both of which act synergistically with the glutamic acid in kombu to create a lot more umami than kombu alone. So you see, you do not need to add packet MSG to achieve the flavor enhancing effects of MSG, you can just use it in its natural form. And if you are still hung up about the myth that MSG is bad for you, you can avoid eating all the foods mentioned above, where MSG is naturally occurring.

I buy fresh free range eggs from a farmer near my house, I only buy Swiss free range organic beef or chicken from the butcher once a month ( I live in Switzerland) I buy fresh fruits and vegetables that are seasonal and locally grown from a cheap farmers market near me, they deliver a full box for $10 every week, I try to eat raw vegetables as much as I can (carrots, peppers, tomatoes and spinach’s) I only drink tap water and I filter it with my Brita caraffe, I stay away from breads, butter, cheeses, the only thing I still eat that is made with dairy is natural yogurt. I also eat a lot of fish, I avoid Nordic wild or raised fish since the Nordic sea is the most polluted. I mean it is hard work but processed foods are overfilled with all these weird ingredients that I have to avoid completely.

    Thank you so much for this truthful video💚 Since becoming a parent many years ago I became interested in nutrition. I remember reading a book called "Back to Eden" which I tried to follow. I'm 69 now, no meds, feel fantastic, but was just diagnosed pre- diabetic (because of my love for sweets). Now it's time to get back to eating healthy, but it may be harder because I live below poverty, and we all know that eating healthy is very expensive. Nevertheless I can grow food, barter with friends and do the best I can with what I have💛💛💛 I am very grateful to you Dr. Ekberg!

    If aspartame delivers methanol to your bloodstream, it would seem like a no-brainer to avoid the sweetener at all costs, but there's a confounding factor: methanol is also found in all sorts of harmless foods, especially fruits and vegetables, in quantities comparable to foods that contain aspartame. In fact, aspartame-flavored soda contains less than half the methanol found in the same volume of many fruit juices.

    Being 300 pounds and 44 years of age, I'm rethinking a lot about my diet. I ate like a teenager for most of my years eating things like pizza, ice cream and soda. I'm paying more attention to what's in our food and there's a lot of things in this video I already knew, but just brushed it out of my mind when it's time for a meal. You don't often think about what's in processed food when you're eating. I haven't touched diet cola in months and I haven't had any ice cream in over a month. While I do enjoy a soda with my meal, my next step is to have water with my meal as I'm trying to cut out excess sugar. I've gone months at my job without drinking diet soda and I've gotten used to drinking just water these days while I'm at work. I still find it difficult to resist buying a pizza when I'm out grocery shopping, but I do manage to find some success just by ignoring my craving for it. I'm hoping in time as I cut these foods out of my diet that my body will drop some weight with the physical activity I get while I'm working and while I'm out riding my bike for exercise.

      Too bad sucralose was never intended to be a pesticide. That was debunked long ago yet people still say that lie. About as true as GMO's being created by sticking a syringe in an apple. • @cathygrandstaff1957
      @cathygrandstaff1957 3 роки тому +11

      From Wikipedia:
      “Sucralose was discovered in 1976 by scientists from Tate & Lyle, working with researchers Leslie Hough and Shashikant Phadnis at Queen Elizabeth College (now part of King's College London).[30] While researching novel uses of sucrose and its synthetic derivatives, Phadnis was told to "test" a chlorinated sugar compound. Phadnis thought Hough asked him to "taste" it, so he did.[31] He found the compound to be exceptionally sweet.”
      So it wasn’t being developed as a pesticide per say, the company that discovered it was just trying to make novel compounds of sucrose to see what they do and one of the scientists thought his partner asked him to taste a newly synthesized compound with unknown properties. Still very dumb, but it’s not like he thought he was tasting poison.

My prof at the uni (synthesis/organic chemist) had ingested methanol (the alcohol that makes you go blind) in small amount (concentration was about 1 mg/l which is 0,1% , the blindness occurs if you get 20-30 ml of 40% methanol) to determine the sensoric reaction and well, the shot was bad but alcohol taste was confirmed XD. Also, I have been asked if I can do sensoric testing of pharmaceutical carbon, but theres no way I would dare to do it.

      I am in my late 80's. Overweight but in good health. I was told by my heart doc that I might need a pacemaker in the future due to skipping a heart beat after every 5 or 6 beats. Blood pressure was controlled by medicine, fasting blood glucose a bit too high. Started listening to Ekberg about 4 months ago and went on a Keto diet. Within one week my heart skipping stopped, blood pressure normal without meds and in another few weeks my blood glucose decreased to normal. Went to a friends birthday dinner and had a piece of cake. Heart beat skipping started again until I got rid of the cake sugar effects. I would say that Ekberg it had a major effect on my heart health. Best luck to you.

I have to disagree with you about salt, when I eat salty foods the edema in my feet, ankles, and calves goes from moderately bad to truly horrible. I recognized the need to give up hard salami and pepperoni and when I have it, I can't stop eating it. I tried Ezekiel sprouted bread and told myself I could have one slice of toast with breakfast.
