Watch The Strokes perform Last Nite back in 2006. Broadcast on the BBC's flagship live music show Later... with Jools Holland.
There’s 2 types of people in this world: those who hold their guitar like Albert, and those who hold it like Nick
🤣
I hold mine like Albert ahah.
@@deyanstroughair5256 yeah same. I find it impossible to play like Nick
i hold it like nick tbh
@@nolanshen2773 To be fair I can probably play like Nick these days with a bit of practice as I know where the strings are by feel at this point but I still like to be able to look onto the fretboard, not just at the dots on top. It's also difficult to keep your wrist straight and maintain good technique playing like Nick.
2000s Julian had peak live vocals
especially fioe era

@@fuckjules5816 FIOE = First Impressions of Earth (third studio album by The Strokes)
Unreal how much Julian sounds like the record!
True, but I think the whole sound is a little distorted like on the record
Sounds better IMO
@@PMurray2694 haha
actually this is the one time his vocals dont sound like the record at least in my humble opinion....
Watch his totp 2001 performance, honestly can't tell the difference between that and the record...
Julian sounds especially cool in this live version. He’s doing funny bits with his voice and saying “shit” like “sheight” god he’s cool
Oh bubaby is all time too
this is literally my brain anytime i hear new performances by the strokes
'shite' from the brits (:
@@Itsbobbbby The second time especially is just way too good
It's spelt shite buddy, it's the Scottish/ northern way of saying shit.
As in :- your full of fookin shite mate ! 😉
julian once said is this is "a band from the past that took a time trip into the future to make their record", exactly this is what he want so cool and genius.
Back in 2002 when I was a kid and first knew about this band called The Strokes, I literally thought they were a band from the 1970's, and their cool, garage rock songs were 30 years old or something.
@@luciano53688 Check out Television. Some dudes claimed The Strokes stole or influenced heavily from them.
@@zackzallie8735 Yeah, for sure. I know Television and the influence they have on early Strokes is clear. Good influence, by the way.
@@luciano53688 Yep. Marquee Moon is so fucking good I forgot it's a 70's album.
This performance contains strong language...
THANK YOU that's exactly why I came here
SHITE
When I Saw for the first time I actually think that They wrote " this performance contains strokes language"
"I'll shit on your floor"
please someone point out the strong language
@@robertsteinberger5667 shit...
1:26 i love when he does this
Same!
Oh bubaby is amazing
oh bubabeh don
Legends. Crazy how important these guys were in the Garage Rock Revival era.
They were responsible for the revival in the first place
@@MedalionDS9 Totally! Then all the other "The" bands came along as well lol
shared with The Libertines
@@patriciovalladares1841 Oh yes! I love the Libs
These guys killed rock n roll. Now it’s dead.
Back then, they were literally the coolest band. Everybody then tried to sound like them, dress like them (long hair, perfecto leather jacket, tight jeans, white strat or tele hold super high like Albert). Always imitated, never as good.
Always imitated, never replicated ;)
¡Cháaaaaaleeeee!
¡No se puede copiar lo que es en sí una copia!
@@pedrocasique7352 Jajaja sos Tom Verlaine? Hola Tom Verlaine, tranquilo nene.
Except they were imitating Guided by Voices. Except for that.
@@Jeremy-th5pt What he said still stands
Probably the best live performance of Last Nite. Legends
T
he best live performance of Last Nite GOTS to be the video clip of that song
the only HD quality video of the strokes on the internet
It's uplifting to know the boys that made this masterpiece will one day make "Ode to the Mets"
And what a masterpiece Ode to the Mets is
although Ode to the mets is not uplifting.....
@@robertsteinberger5667 fair, but it is rousing

The Flaming Lips watchig The Strokes... How cool is that???
and divine comedy!
That's who they are nice!!!!
🤣
The reactions from the other bands watching the Strokes' performance were awesome!
if you like the strokes you should check out Lonely Gimmick - Grumpy Days, it gives me Strokes vibes and it's a great new indie song
the strokes basically sums up 2000's rock n' roll scene
what a great great band
Arguments can be made that they saved rock, or just delayed the death rattle. But one thing's for sure, the Strokes realigned rock to what it should be. Prevented it from morphing into nu metal nonsense and Dave Matthews shingles.
The sound recording of Julian's voice is so good here
Jules's voice makes my heart sing👌
That’s right x
not used to see a hd version of 2006 julian! the coolness
These Jools Holland performances are iconic. Wish they would put all of these out as a live album!
They did!
Love the way the live music is filmed in this show…
I love the shots of the other bands really getting into the music.
I think some look a bit worried that they have to top this.
I always thought they should have done more of that and panned the camera around a bit to see the other bands reactions...
Wayne Coyne really enjoyed this
Is it Cat Power at the beginning of the video (second 26) ?
"shite" hahahahaha
Strong language!
Lyrics:
Last night she said
"Oh, baby, I feel so down"
"Oh, it turn' me off when I feel left out"
So I, I turned 'round
Oh, baby, don't care no more
I know this for sure, I'm walking out that door
Well, I've been in town for just about fifteen, oh, minutes now
Oh baby, I feel so down, and I don't know why
I keep walking for miles
And see, people, they don't understand
Your girlfriends, they can't understand
Your grandsons, they won't understand
On top of this, I ain't ever gonna understand
Last night she said
"Oh, baby, don't feel so down"
"Oh, it turn' me off when I feel left out"
So I, I turned 'round
Oh, baby, gonna be alright
It was a great big lie, 'cause I left that night, yeah
Oh, people, they don't understand
No, girlfriends, they don't understand
In spaceships, they won't understand
And me, I ain't ever gonna understand
Last night she said
"Oh, baby, I feel so down"
"See, it turn' me off when I feel left out"
So I, I turned 'round
Oh, little girl, I don't care no more
I know this for sure, I'm walking out that door, yeah
Up
He's a incredible singer. Damn, shout out for those vocals.
I love how the mixing on this recorded version, you can hear all the instruments. The Strokes memang padu beb !

I was 13 years old in 2001 and I hadn't even got to the end of this track when I said.... "Dad can I have a guitar please?"
And did you get one and learn to play??
@@Rondawwg I did, i was given a one of those Spanish Acoustic guitars you know with the Nylon strings.. wasn't quite what i was expecting but i learned a few chords.. Ive since had Squier and a Strat but im currently playing with an ES-335.. Its Cherry Red i might add...

Neil Hannon, Flaming Lips, The Strokes. Gotta love Jools Holland bringing together the greats
Cat Power too
There are some things that never change.

Addicted to this preformance!!
I just love these boys.... they deserve dozens of grammys lol

I watch this video about 5-7 times everyday. Top notch performance 👌🏻🔥
Such a tune!!! 👌
what a quality!!!
One of my favourite track✌️❤️
What a great performance. You wouldn’t wanna follow that. Brilliant
hard to believe this tune is over 20 yrs old , its a great song , underrated band .
Saw them live in '04 they were so good.
This performance contains strong memories.
Probably the coolest and best looking band of their era.......and they could also play their fckin hearts out
them and the Arctic Monkeys absolutely dominated the 2000s
Loved this band back then and still do now. So unbelievably cool and in some quarters under rated too as they wrote some unbelievable songs other than this one.
I never thought I’d see this in HD!!!
Tremenda energía la que irradia esta canción! Saludos desde Bogotá, Colombia!
"I ain't ever gonna understand shite" gotta love him for the localization touch
What a performance omggg

Best band in the last 20 years by far..
Muse? Royal Blood? Arctic Monkeys? Mäneskin? The Strokes are good, but certainly not the best
@@garmen- how'd Maneskin get in there?
@@iffysaqibi510 because they’re a rock band who won Eurovision like a year ago and are still relevant with mainstream appeal
@@garmen- The Strokes spawned a generation of bands that imitated their musical style and swagger, just ask Alex Turner. They made Rock and Roll cool again. Not sure what relevance winning Eurovision has especially when you consider their popularity is from a cover... Just my opinion.
@@iffysaqibi510 Just because they were inspirational doesn’t make them good.. the Beatles were inspirational but I’d never put on Rubber Soul because music has come so far since then. Yeah Alex Turner was inspired by The Strokes but he’s still better than them. Same for many new bands like Royal Blood, who were inspired by Muse but are arguably better because of the intricacies in the songwriting
I LIKEEE THIS LIVE VERSION!!!!!!!!!
Watching Wayne Coyne rock out to it made my experience 😂❤🎉
Amazing
wow it's weird seeing this in such high quality. even seeing it in this aspect ratio is weird lol. it looks like they're in angles era but it's obviously much older than that

Awesome !!
I really miss those days when rock, punk, and metal was in mainstream. When rock was the most coolest thing in the world:(
:(
And now its mosly rap or edm sometime
It still is there and still is popular, it’s just not the main trend right now. Bands like Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood and (even though I hate him) MGK are keeping rock alive
Absolute game changer and spawned a thousand indie bands
why is this so good
Larga vida a los Strokes
this is the best
Its 2008 and we’re all into THE Strokes ♥️
Best version since the video....😎
