@@chalachouchouThe funniest thing is that you can actually hear his guitar stopping while he tries to pull it back into place xDD. That is how I realized that this was live recording, which is very, very sureal. Most band would simply lip sync music videos to get a more "cinematic" performance.
They were awesome in concert. The last few of the real live bands. Lead singer basically smashed every set, not missing a note or beat, while ripping up the set. respect.
Albert bumped into the mic stand. Tried to adjust the mic stand. Fabrizio finally added it into the beat while simultaneously resolving the problem haha
I love how he walks into the guitarist as if they're somehow communicating in teamwork. Then I love the accidental fall of the Mic stands. Classical music video. You couldn't plan good art like this.
This video might look just simply, but it has a lot of little things that makes it so special.like the mycrophone falling down into Valensi, Julian drunk pushing everyone... etc. Love it
I had some students just last week ask me if I knew the Strokes, and I was so happy to know they were appreciating great music!!! Some of my best concert memories with friends in New York are courtesy of the Strokes...good times 😊
This album is just perfect. Every note, every lyric. The music is so rich, from guitar magic to percussion.Julian Casablanca's voice is beautiful. It connects with you like magnetic resonance coupling. I can't stop listening to it. Brilliant.
I can't believe this is going to be 20 YEARS OLD... every song off of "Is This It" and "Room On Fire" still sound exciting and cutting-edge. I remember how everyone compared them to new wave/post punk bands from the 80s and called them retro. It seems like new rock is gearing towards an interesting psychedelic/electronic direction, but its clear that the Strokes were a futuristic band, to the point were everyone else is still catching up with what they did.

2:19 La parte que Hammond se va para atrás y le tira el mic a Fab, Albert se lo acomoda y sigue igual. Total Moretti le pega un batazo y tira los dos micrófonos es lo más. Eso es rock.
When I was 15 I went on a trip to Amsterdam with a mate and his family who were from there. One day as we were trying to sneak into some coffee shops we saw a guy holding a map and talking on the phone who looked just like Albert Hammond Jr. So we were standing there in the middle of a busy shopping street, pointing, wondering if it was really him as we waited for him to hang up. Suddenly someone tapped me on my shoulder and said, "Hey kid, you should get his autograph, it's him". I replied that I thought so too and then a split second later realised it was actually Julian! I didn't have any paper, only those big rizla rolling papers, so he signed that for me. I said great show and he wrote "to Rachel". We laughed about it and then he signed another. Good memories :)
The scuzzy '70s aesthetic, the garish lighting, the chaos of the set and the cool indifference of the performance, plus a great, fierce song to boot: This is the most iconic music video of the 2000s.
You know what the world could really use right now? A fresh band that brings that same kind of magic The Strokes delivered when they first came onto the scene. We need a band that's unafraid to experiment with sound, and create a unique style that becomes iconic. It wasn't just about the music; it was about their attitude, their authenticity. The only band that has given me the same feeling in recent years has been The Doublejumps, which is a band from my home country New Zealand (I live in Australia now). Sooo wish I could see them and The Strokes live one day 😎
I have heard a lot of people compare the lead singer of Car Seat Headrest's delivery style to The Strokes ! Both are two of my favourite bands, so would highly recommend giving them a listen !
I was working a wet and rainy job outside on the coast in BC in fall 2001 and into 2002. Local radio had this on the rotation. Heard it most mornings on the way to work. Made my day.

I was scrolling on Spotify and recognized this song and that started my obsession with The Strokes. I always remembered this song vividly I just didn’t know the band or the song name until 7 months ago. Then I found out my mom heard this song live in 2002. This HAS to be one of the most entertaining videos i've seen.....singer half drunk bumps into lead player, throws mic down (you hear it pop in da mix), takes another sip of beer, lead player loses footing after his lead and takes out drummers overhead, tries to fix it, then drummer (on the 4 beat rest), whacks them outa the way with his stick!....I laughed a boat load!!!..THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL!!!!.......I watch this almost everyday, to soothe my head....THANK YOU THE STROKES!!! .KILLER SHIT!!!!!
Always loved the sorta decrescendo of the arrangement. The chords and melody walking down while still being catchy. The complete opposite of your typical build up and crescendos in most songs.

Interesting Fact: Brandon Flowers (The Killers) in an interview said that when “Is This It” was released in 2001, they threw away all ideas for their songs except Mr. Brightside. It’s safe to say without The Strokes (and of course the help of The White Stripes and Interpol), there would be no Killers, no Arctic Monkeys, no Franz Ferdinand, no Black Keys and so on. 2:30 when the drummer plays the mic stand is genuinely amazing haha
🤣🤣🤣
the guitarist knocked it off first and they both smiled lmao thats hilarious
@@chalachouchouThe funniest thing is that you can actually hear his guitar stopping while he tries to pull it back into place xDD. That is how I realized that this was live recording, which is very, very sureal. Most band would simply lip sync music videos to get a more "cinematic" performance.
A clear case of 0 fucks.
@@matheusgaraytrindade9164 It's not only guitar, you can hear a slight "drum confusion" when the mic first fell
They were awesome in concert. The last few of the real live bands. Lead singer basically smashed every set, not missing a note or beat, while ripping up the set. respect.

Damn you have very low standards on drummers lol
I love how he walks into the guitarist as if they're somehow communicating in teamwork. Then I love the accidental fall of the Mic stands. Classical music video. You couldn't plan good art like this.

I love how raw the video is
When the drum’s overhead microphone falls down you can hear the loss in cymbal sound, these guys are so good that they can get away with that.
I didn't even notice that until now lmao
julian's voice sounds much more raw and rough (more than usual) and completely unfiltered in this version. i completely love it.

This song by the strokes...what a beauty
The guy never ages
I know I was thinking the same thing, he's 36, and he still looks as if he's early to mid twenties.
Good thing he stopped drinking and possibly doing other drugs.
So that's why he doesn't age. Well that's what I think. :)
Tom Dwane Damn good genetics
Tom Dwane Just Like Yankovic
He's looking pretty rough nowadays...
I had some students just last week ask me if I knew the Strokes, and I was so happy to know they were appreciating great music!!! Some of my best concert memories with friends in New York are courtesy of the Strokes...good times 😊
Did we meet at the Mercury way back when?
We're getting older, bud.
This album is just perfect. Every note, every lyric. The music is so rich, from guitar magic to percussion.Julian Casablanca's voice is beautiful. It connects with you like magnetic resonance coupling. I can't stop listening to it. Brilliant.
Very much a song to define a generation. I know so many people of my age who have this song tattooed on or near their torso. That speaks volumes
I can't believe this is going to be 20 YEARS OLD... every song off of "Is This It" and "Room On Fire" still sound exciting and cutting-edge. I remember how everyone compared them to new wave/post punk bands from the 80s and called them retro. It seems like new rock is gearing towards an interesting psychedelic/electronic direction, but its clear that the Strokes were a futuristic band, to the point were everyone else is still catching up with what they did.

this, in history, is one of human kind's best masterpiece. one of the best vibrations of molecules to exist
One of the very best albums of the 00's.
