His voice is so awesome live. Whole band sounds great.
Not really. He doesn’t hit any higher notes from his younger years. Once you hit 50 that vocal range just dies
@@iplaywithrocksforfun nah he sounds fantastic right now and has been able to perform every song extremely well since they’ve been back on tour. You’re literally the first person I’ve seen since they started touring again who’s said he doesn’t sound great
He’s always sounded really good but getting sober and quitting smoking has definitely helped, he’s sounds phenomenal these recent shows. It’s really great to see him so happy and healthy up there after all the struggles he’s had. This lineup’s chemistry is absolutely insane, doesn’t get any better than this, Josh/Troy/Mikey/dean quad has been performing now 16yrs and it really shows because they truly sound as tight as ever, pretty much flawless, Jon has now also been their drummer now a decade and he’s amazing, longest tenured drummer, every member is actually the longest tenured in the bands history for their role/instrument in QOTSA. Anyway I’m rambling now but this unit is next level together. Best live festival band on the planet currently and just one of the best live bands in the world in any setting
@@puppetmaster8551 he’s literally never sounded good live since maybe the very beginning of their career, his live technique is horrific, you cannot honestly think him struggling with ‘pills’ at 0:42 sounds good, he is clearly straining the hell out of that note
@@Viper-dz2kwwhat cope are you on my man
I love how Josh adapted this song to where he is now. Instead of trying to hit some of the high notes that he got in his youth, he finds ways to make the vocals more dynamic and soulful within his range. This is what lets a musician age gracefully: learning to accept technical limitations as an invitation to innovate.

Dave Grohl really was so right when he said it's just unfair to see them live because of how good they are. I feel like you can watch any one of their live shows and they're so incredibly consistent every time
Dave said that QOTSA is the best live band in the world. Totally agree 🤘
Not always the case. Josh has been pretty hammered on their villains tour
@@ThatSavoieDude Well...we all are humans, dude 🤷♀️
Meth will do that
I had the opportunity of seeing them live a few years ago in Argentina opening for the Foos... it was the only time in my life when the support band was better than the main act!
This is definitely one of the best live bands out there right now!
The best live festival band ever, it’s wild how absurdly good they sound every festival. I understand sounding amazing on your own tours but it’s crazy to sound so good every festival.
No frills heavy rock band
Yes , spot on guys. I saw them in Tulsa Oklahoma in their early days, and they rocked the piss out of the place. Incredible sound. Easily the best live festival band.
Best band a Glastonbury by far
@@John-zt6yw yup they’ve always been an absolutely killer live band, they honestly sound as good or maybe the best they ever have currently tho. Josh sounds amazing and is sober and stopped smoking and this lineup has been together a long time now so they’re pretty much perfect, legit probably the tightest they’ve ever been and that’s such a high bar because they’ve always been one of the best live bands on the planet
I love every bit of them.
One the greatest rock songs of our time. Still killing it
Shit you not, contender for my all time favourite. 😎
Yesss josh is a lovely bloke too
I'm pleasantly caving in ..noone knows
Considering the 2000s to present doesn’t have a lot of unique standouts, this most certainly is a contender for best modern rock song.
They are unique it's why I love qotsa
They absolutely deserve a chance at Pyramid stage headliners next year. The best set of 2023
They’re great but that’s not going to happen
@@IMTURTLE92 which is fucking stupid

Looks like Elton was the one playing to “all three people”
But that’s a filled venue
Josh looks so happy with the energy of the crowd/moment, the magic of Glasto worn clear for all to see. 🔥🤙
Because his mind is clear. He's off crystal meth after using for decades on and off

It was only about a week ago, and as it's part of the same tour, I would imagine the setlist would be very similar to what they played at Glastonbury.

@@captainpeg4629 Glastonbury is different from any festival I’ve seen, the camera angles and audio is just incredible !
I’ve seen a lot of big bands live but these guys really are the undisputed kings. Even the drunk Josh from 6 years ago was better live than anyone else.
The 1st Glastonbury Fair line up and performances were much better than this twoddle...
I disagree because I saw QotSA when Homme was all fucked up and they were awful. Glad he's sorted himself now and it looks like they haven't skipped a beat!
I remember going to a "Eagles of Death Metal" concert many years ago and I think Joey Castillo was drumming for them at the time, and when they came back out for the encore, Jesse said "I want to bring out my good friend, Baby Duck (Josh Homme) for these next few songs". Josh came stumbling out on stage with a half-bottle of vodka still in his hand, and sat down behind the kit. He then proceeded to shred through the 3 or 4 songs they played for the encore like it was nothing. It was one of the coolest things ever to see. I knew that he played drums on their records, but I had forgotten about that before he came out on stage and I was thinking "WTF is he doing on the drums??". He is one talented mofo!
I saw them live in the wrong venue - King's Hall in Belfast - big concrete shed with shit sound. It was totally forgettable. It wouldn't even have made my top 100 list (if I had one).
Drunk? That was meth lol
This song is 21 years old and it’s still such a killer song, obviously 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great rock songs never age. 🤘
I love a lot of Queens songs but “No One Knows” is like… divinely inspired.
…The polka remains timeless

@@AC-cj9zl What does this even mean?
Saw them live. It was the loudest music I've ever heard. Felt it piercing through your entire body. Absolutely stellar
Among the loudest for me too, and super clear. Just fantastic. KISS back in the 90s, Baby Animals, My Bloody Valentine, and Ace Frehley solo were all up there as well for being loud. But the undisputed kings of loud was Motorhead back in 1991. My ears rang for three days after that gig. It was like being assaulted for two hours, my internal organs felt like they had moved. Like they had worked out where the sound pressure was high enough to actually hurt physically and were just a smidge below that. Ye gods it was EPIC.
Jon Theodore (the drummer) it's so effortlessly brilliant, ⚖ adore his work.
He balances accuracy with energy without loosing precision. Perfection in the form of a drummer
I thought it was Jon!
The most consistently awesome band of the last 20 years😆😆

I loved mark Lanegan band so much as well. my top 2
This just shows that Mikey and Jon totally can hang with the work that Nick Oliveri and Dave Grohl did. Both the bass and drums sounded perfectly on point, this is the BEST rhythm section Queens has ever had. Both insanely good musicians
They’re probably superior technically. Absolutely elite.
Heck! Michael has been playing guitar since 9 years old, bands from upper elementary school thru high school. Switched to bass at 14/15 years old. There was a podcast called Harsh Toke with Matt Fathouser (childhood friend and Evan L. Weiss (childhood friend, bandmate Wires on fire, currently tour guitarist for Sparks). On one of the episodes, Michael is the guest and they have a cool conversation. Another episode has Dean Feritia as a guest. Dash Hutton is on another episode. Dash played touring drums during a Mini Mansions tour : A Guy Walks In a Bar. Then Jon Theodore played the second half of the tour. Jon Theodore has an interview on a podcast with Dean Delray around before Villains was released. Drums since a teenager.
We can not leave out Joey Castillo on drums on tour and for Songs of the Deaf and Lullabies to paralyze. Era Vulgaris. That perfection smash Misfit Love on IFC The Henry Rollins Show.
They can hang but they're not Nick and Dave. And I know Jon is a technical player and an animal.
Listen to some of the live shows from '02 and then tell me this is as good...
Well, if Jon could stop rushing all the fills it would be even better. He almost plays 16th notes instead of triplets.
Now 76 and only just discovered them fully. Wow , what a band. Can see why Royal Blood was inspired by them. I rediscovered them on the Glastonbury tv performance. Why i am here now.
Energetic crowd!
Those are all hardcore who missed out on Elton John for this, so makes sense.
@@yanivbin7521 It's not necessarily hardcore to not want to see Elton John 😅
@@WillyJuniori'm not what you'd call a big Elton John fan but he's a British music icon who has been relevant for 50+ years (yes most of from the 70's and 80's but still).
The only people in his league are Paul McCartney and David Bowie and one of them is dead.
He has dozens of world renowned hits and this was his last UK show...ever (or so they say) and it was quite a show.
You can see QOTSA for decades yet.
Point is even Josh knew they were up against it.
@@WillyJuniorMick Jagger too I guess but he's not a solo artist and if they played Glastonbury Josh would reguse to play next to them so he vould watch them live.
@@kevtb874 Yeah, I would've went to Elton no doubt. Not because I like him better, but because he's among the great living legends playing a show that had "historic" written all over it. It was the place to be. Qotsa are great but they play a lot, if you follow live music and go to festivals you'll catch them eventually. Elton was a once in a lifetime show.
What's crazy is that this song is over 20 years old now, and they can still play this song just as good as ever
I remember watching them the 1st time they hit Glasto, and this song was absolutely immense!!! ... and still is!!
Gets better with age
Yeah I was just thinking this-if I would hear this on the radio or a spotify playlist today it would still sound as fresh as ever. It's mad to write something that good.
When you do something a lot, for a long time, you get good at it.
I was 21 when I saw them at Glastonbury 2002. Seems like yesterday. I'm glad their audience continues to grow. They're 🔥 🔥

Watching them mad every pound we paid for the tickets worth it and im soooo happy they decided to play at glastonbury. I will never get enough of them from now on!
There's a reason why people refer to Josh as "the Ginger Elvis"
What a VOICE!
What voice!
Because of his facial features, because his voice sounds nothing like Elvis
He also rivals Elvis's heroic intake of drugs and alcohol.
I see him more like Bowie.

It is just unbelievable how insanely professional this band had gotten over the years, they consistently peform at a master level. THAT is musicianship right there. I absolutely LOVE their live performances.
Glad to see John Theodore have a gig that gives him the area to spread. Sounds great!
That was The Mars Volta.
He's underused in Queens tho
I saw Mars Volta last week and no disrespect to their current drummer who was perfectly capable and had his own style - but he wasn’t a patch on Jon (or Thomas Pridgen for that matter)
Pretty good for a chef...
@@autopilot980I mean..... he's used pretty well. It's about that mix of feel, skill and aggression. Not many can do it right. Sure he's not hitting his skill ceiling but clearly he fits the brief pretty perfectly.
Can we all appreciate how happy they looked to be on stage with that crowd
Must be an amazing feeling to be back when gigs weren’t happening before due to covid
The Queens have to be one of the best live bands ever.. Josh's voice is just as good live as on record 🤘
My god, I was there and the whole set was incredible! I've been to 11 glastonbury festivals and these guys put on the best show I've ever seen! Just mind blowing in every way 👏 👏
I love that Josh seems to really love playing this song now. I feel like he resented the song's popularity in the past. He didn't even play it when I saw them in 2007.
Every time I come back and watch this performance (yes it was that good), this vid has like 100k more views each time. I'm so happy to see them getting the love and attention they deserve. Josh Homme truly is a rockstar and every member is a badass.
It's now the most viewed of the Glastonbury clips from this year, the people know what we want and it's Queens of the fucking Stone Age
Fucking brilliant performance. Best of the weekend by a mile. They sound huge too, all instruments perfectly mixed and clear sounding, nothing is muddy or over saturated. Props to their sound guy!! Josh’s voice sounds amazing as well. QOTSA are getting better and better with age.
Really good to see a crowd with some movement and enjoying the music instead of a sea of phone camera flashes too. Like watching a performance from 20 years ago in HD.

Just had the privilege of seeing them in Queens, NY on tour and holy fucking hell it was amazing. Cannot wait to see them again, hopefully on another tour or huge festival where they can play way longer, this is a band that needs to have a 2 hour set
I demand that drum cam footage, so we can see Jon Theodore groove and shred through the whole song.
I kept thinking...show the drummer! Show the drummer!
(It's probably too much to expect that the director calling the shots would know the song.)
A decent sound mix would have been a good start, everything was buried under Josh and the bass.
That's watching on my crappy old phone, better systems may get better results lol

I love them making old songs interesting to keep them AND the audience hyped. Well played

Unfortunately for me I have just discovered QOTSA, how unlucky am I to have missed out listening to this band for too many years, they are absolutely one kick ass great band, no maybe's. if;s. or but's, they are supremely talented. Better late than never I say.
Youre lucky, man. What I would give to go back and listen to Songs For The Deaf again for the first time
Just saw them in Perth not too long ago. I wasn't even super in to them but I'm so glad I went. The mix was astonishingly clean and they were tight as. Absolutely groovy set

I’ve seen them with Homme sober and falling over drunk. All shows were incredible and the only time it was evident Homme was hammered was between songs when he went political. They’re just one of those bands that after all these years, kills it everytime. Love them, can’t wait to see them again.

It's such a crazy thought to know that I was introduced to not just this song, but this whole band through the first ever Guitar Hero. Never gonna forget just how blessed I was to hear this for the first time, the riffs, the groove, that bassline! It reminded me of a wicked rock song for Abes Oddysee (random comparison, but if you pay attention to the game soundtrack, the basslines are quite similar)
