- I wanted to make a fan vid for Carth, who was my very first video game boyfriend. I LOVE that you don't have to always be super-nice to make this romance work. And I'm also a very big sucker for Raphael Sbarge's voice. :D

That’s the thing you have to love about those shy men in video games, they can’t get their feeling out worth anything, but as soon as somebody starts even remotely putting it on smooth, the fangs and claw come out. It’s honestly so cute.

Carth was such a well-written love interest, I fell for him (virtually speaking) by total accident when I played this. I didn't even know there ~was~ a romance in the game!
I just kept picking the funny dialogue responses, and it happened naturally, and by the end, I was all for it. xD

What made it great, I think, was that I didn't *know* there was a romance and wasn't fishing for it. If I did and had been, that would have kind of ruined it, because I'd have walked on eggshells trying to find the "perfect" path to a successful romance.
Instead, I picked on and teased Carth _constantly,_ and you know what? It turns out that he's a big boy and can handle it just fine, and he even takes a few playful shots back of his own. The upshot is that instead of completing a chore wherein I was "successful" in completing the romance, I experienced the natural growth of a romance that really felt like one, all the while my character simply enjoyed herself in his company.
I think sometimes we ruin games for ourselves by worrying so much about how to play through "correctly" in order to get outcomes we know about in advance. To really enjoy them, we kind of need to resist the urge to do that and instead return to letting the experience simply happen and even surprise us. A game that is written well will reward that.

i had a similar experience, i teased him a bit, but i would also often pick the more flirty dialogue choices. hehe!
You can do the same with Bastila if your character is male. Her reactions to Revan flirting and teasing her are hilarious, and your love can save her from the Dark Side at the end of the game

Lily Feather I think if half the video game character hotties were real they'd be running ten miles every day just to escape the rabid hoard of lovers they have here.

I think this happens because in our real world we do not have any motivation to meet people anymore, in worse times you were forced to talk to people because there was nothing once to do.
The world is better in many ways but also worse somehow, that is why birth rate is declining, we are slowly killing ourselves off

Oh definitely, video game characters are just created, most of the time, to be what most people find attractive. This is seen in many games, especially with those with a range of romancable characters. They are just designed for people to fall for, not complaining though, Carth is definitely one heck of a man.

I like the voice actor here so much more as carth than as kaiden. He has more personality as carth.

Alex well technically (haven't looked at timelines but the models give me a little bit of an idea) he played Carth long before he played Kaiden Alenko. Honestly he had more character than Kaiden I wish some of that had been incorporated into Kaiden, who is honestly seems kinda shy in mass effects he hardly talks with the rest of the crew and even in a romance in Mass 1 he makes no effort to go over an talk to Shepard on his own.

I'm going to assume that you know how to trigger the Carth Romance sub-plot. If this is not the case, please let me know, and I'll explain.
Conversation #1 in my vid takes place when your character reaches level 4.
#2 happens when you reach character level 5.
#3 happens after you've found the 1st Star Map (on Dantooine).
#4, #5, and #6 after you've found the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th

@bethiemw HAHA!! I think what cemented my adoration for him was that Tanis Venn sequence. Every time I play that through, I get a huge grin when Carth threatens to knock his teeth out ^_^
I agree - K2 is deeper. But I LIKE Atton! :p There was some stuff in K2 that led me to believe that a romance was building (Atton asking Bao-Dur if he has a shot with you, among others), but you're right, it doesn't really culminate into anything...

I like teasing Carth because it is so funny. Carth is so funny when you tease him; he will tell you what you want some more. He will tell you more of this and he will be like okay you got me.

I know, I totally squeed in delite the very 1st time I played that game. Still one of the BEST games EVER!!! Like halo. with star wars. and humor. and squad mates. :)

another awesome vid. Im also a sucker for his voive. i heard it in mass effect trailers and i was like, IM SSSOOOOOO GOING TO PLAY THAT GAME! :) still waiting to play it though. i also didnt know about some of the things you can make carth say! the end with him threatening tanis was funny. i always laugh when that happens. keep maken the vids, there awesome! :)

@danishAEF you can try used game shops like FYE and Game Stop. There's bound to be a copy lying around there.

maps, respectively. I advise you to have #6 BEFORE returning to the Ebon Hawk, as this is part of Carth's "let me protect you" speech, and you SHOULD hear this from him BEFORE you get nabbed by the Leviathan.
The Tanis thing will happen any time you go to the hunting lodge on Tatooine, as long as Carth's currently in your party. :D

I'll probably have to deal with this soon because I am considering going for a female Revan rather than a seventh male revan. It won't be the first time I played a female character in a game despite being a guy, but it will be the first time where a romance plot will be involved. I am now watching to plan my options so I don't flirt accidentally

@peepseye1 I've talked a lot with Canderous and no romance options ever come up. All you can get out of him are war stories.
Do you wait to have these conversations with him when the "Carth looks like he wants to talk" scene pops up or did you talk to him on your own?

yes when you first enter the sith accadamy go find Dustil first before you do anything else!! talk to him say the right things, dont threatin him and then go to the sith masters bedroom(its handy to have Mission) find the data pad and show it too him.
I think I flirted with Carth instinctively the first time I played this game... He's just so freaking hot, I had to!

@lalalakenshin You have to break into Uthr's room and get the datapad to Dustil before you go and kill Uthr in the tomb, otherwise all Carth wants to talk about is his son... even though he's dead.

It would be pretty sweet to find something that I haven't seen yet after playing oodles and oodles of times. I've been trying to get the romance to work and can't seem to get it. If you have to find Carth's son, does that mean that the romance one ends? Also I guess I found a glitch in the game, I finished the final text on Korribon and then headed back to the acedemy. I was ambushed by 3 sith patrols who called me a spy. After I went inside and fought everyone I went to Master Uthr's room and got the datapad out the locker. I tried to show carth's son it, but he attacked me. Any suggestions?

This is a part of the dialog that you can get from a mod at KOTOR II Files.
Lots of cool stuff in it, especially if you've played the game dozens of times already. But there's absolutely no voice acting included, so you have to read the lines, and the characters remain completely silent. That's why I left those choices out of my vid.

I've never, in the 10 years I've owned this game, ever played a girl. I never new this dialog existed. It's hilarious! Not as fun as Bastila though.

Also, if possible, get the xbox version. I've tried both, and after prefering K1 & K2 both on PC, I find the xbox version of Mass Effect is easier to handle (by far).
