Such a terrifying onslaught of challenges hidden underneath a bright and cheerful exterior. It's pretty amazing how much they've packed into this game. I couldn't get very far in it when I was a kid. I was way too intimidated by Wizpig back then.
Yea, it's absolutely brutal. I think my friends and I eventually unlocked T.T but that was def pain, lol. Would love to see a remake so we can play the damn thing at 60fps.
I'm surprised the Octopus didn't make an appearance. Whale Bay and Greenwood Village are my picks for the hardest normal stages. Having to chart out 3 separate laps with no mistakes or master hard braking turns was really difficult for child me.

Man Wizpig.... Definitely remember yelling at the TV as a kid when having to race that SOB! Haha. I agree that he should definitely be up in the top 3. I wish i could remember more of how me and my brother unlocked TT. I wana say it was filled with alot of retrys. But that dam clock always annoyed me! Its like come on i just wana race as you! I remember doing most of the challenges with Pipsy. Not the fastest but the best handling let me time all the boosts properly. Lapping the entire field in Jungle Falls was my favorite part.
Nice list man. For me Greenwood Village silver coin challenge was the hardest back in the day, probably hardest on adventure one. Wizpig 1 was a close second though
20:27 Taj gives you a hint about the green boosts. If you have the captions turned on, right after beating Bluey for the first time, Taj tells you to let go of the gas right before touching a zipper. You learn and get better from there. But therein lies the problem. You need the captions on, which many players leave off. He only explains it once as it’s supposed to be a secret advanced technique.
The worst part about the 8 coins challenges is that the AI can just be like "Meh! screw the player" and be super ahead of the race sometimes, making it impossible to win!
So many happy vibes and cosy feelings with the music, overall awesomeness. Unfortunately cannot get the same kind of vibe and feelings with modern games.
I spent so much time playing this game man, it’s a bit funny and weird though as I couldn’t remember any of the tracks but as you showed them it all came back. Probly cause all of my memories are of my frustration trying to unlock TT. It’s to this day one of my most difficult gaming feats. They just don’t make games like this anymore. The coin races were honestly easy compared to TT. Every track was an endurance. 3 lap races turn into 300 laps to beat.
I just recently 100% this game again and I agree with your choices. 20:35 It is a must to know the BOOST technique which is letting go of the gas when you hit the boost to get the green for max speeds. As someone else mentioned, the game does mention the trick when you beat Taj the Genie in one of his races, but if one doesn't have captions ON, they wouldn't know I suppose. Another good TIP is for real sharp turns press and hold R and B at the same time, you can really cut tight corners quick, it's a game changer. The way I played the game, I used Diddy for all Adventure One, along the way unlocking Drumstick. After unlocking Drumstick, I used him to beat all of T.T's times. I tried with Diddy and others, they're just way too underpowered to beat T.T.'s times even if you are quick to get 10 bananas, which is another tip, get 10 bananas as soon as you can. Bananas can really boost your speed and your times will drastically improve. With Drumstick and bananas I was able to beat most of T.T's times on the first try, especially with the plane and hovercraft tracks, no problem. The three hardest T.T. tracks for me were Jungle Falls, Greenwood Village, and the worst Frosty Village. After unlocking T.T., I played Adventure Two using T.T. because he's a driving cheat code lol, and completed everything else with relative ease. Props to you for doing Adventure Two with Diddy or others, that's a challenge right there. The challenge is also adapting to using Drumstick compared to the lighter characters like Diddy because he turns so much wider but once you figure him out his speed will blow the others away, except T.T. Diddy Kong Racing is one of my favorite childhood games and I enjoyed your video.
This game was indeed a challenge. But you know what carried me through it all? The OUTSTANDING soundtrack. The sense of immersion I get from listening to those sick ass tunes only kept me invested in this game, despite the adversities. 🥰👍

@@anthonybanks2092 in some ways, that is totally true. The list of challenges and adventure mode was outstanding. The 4 player racing with different vehicles was also excellent. The thing Mario Kart 64 has is a more intricate boosting technique, it raises the skill ceiling and changes the game drastically as opposed to just hitting all of the boost pads on a given course. The 2 player Grand Prix is insanely fun as well. But I totally know what you mean as far as 1 player action goes, unless you’re die hard with speed running.
My hat is off to you mate for you beating the game. Also a Subscriber from me. But second race against Dino I gived up. So I'm glad I did not Bother with the rest of the coins or wizpig or the Game after.

Greenwood village where you got to collect the coins is probably the hardest level that I had to deal with the wizpig was the hardest until I figured out to let off a right before I hit a booster and it gave me a big boost after that the wiz pick wasn't nothing
Back then, I never managed to beat The Dino Domain amulet match, and I never even managed to beat the island first boss, and Frosty Village was too rough for my 9yo self. Also, since I never did access the Mountain's boss race, I would've never known about letting go of the accelerator before hitting zippers or using the blue balloon boost which doubles the potency of ALL speed boosts. On a physical copy I had ordered a few years back, I had vowed to complete absolutely everything, and boi was the silver coin challenges outside of Dino Domain gave me a headache, resulting to the aforementioned backwards exploring to find everything (I REFUSED to look up the coin placement since I never played its mirror mode... also, I played as T.T. mirror mode so I could facilitate my way around tracks, which means YES I did unlock that ticking trickster... also did with Diddy Kong on ALL tracks)
The Wizpig 1 music definitely has its own charm to it, despite the medium difficulty of the race for hardcore gamers. Seriously, custom Mario Maker levels make this seem like level 1-1 in any SMB game in comparison.
Wizpig is a legit challenge! But yes it’s all relative, for example we’ve beaten Battletoads on 2 player for the channel… and if you want to see super hardcore, watch Running & Gaming, I beat Ninja Gaiden while running 3 miles in 25 minutes! But yeah of course custom Mario gets out of control too haha
@@MarMaxGaming I play games for enjoyment. Not to be frustrated to the point where a mental institution is the next option. DKR is a relatively easy game to master. But unfortunately, lacks the characteristics and appeal of SMK1 and Mario Kart Advance. 3d games are just not the same to me.

@@MarMaxGaming Old games like SMB1 would've felt too raw without these enhancements. There was plenty of headroom. 3d games just don't have that vibe to them. The fact that Nintendo managed to do such unprecedented refinement of one of their first games is amazing. Not about SMW. But there doesn't look to be these near invisible glitches/details that can be taken advantage of. No idea if Nintendo fixed them or not. SMB1 is a masterpiece that cannot be rivaled by anything made today. I'm not a hardcore gamer. But the desire for recreational/casual game play is near extinct with me, after watching all these videos. I'm not the most skilled video gamer. But I think I can make up for it by at least 1% in other aspects! I personally think that 2d platform games should return. But it's a reflection of society. Very few folks pay such attention to detail. With so much competition compared to 40 years ago (can't even believe it's been this long), originality/creativity takes a backseat over income, and financial rigmarole. Nobody wants to make the leap.

It seems so impossible without letting go of the gas going over the boost! If you let go of A right before the boost for a couple seconds, you get way more speed out of it. Plus drifting often helps with those turns
@@MarMaxGaming I had a little code book with N64 game tricks in it that told me about the rainbow boost thing. It was mainly because of how windy and thin the track is...plus you pretty much have to hit every boost on the course.
@@timmer919hep it’s true, it is very difficult… I had to hit restart plenty of times. I think you can only afford to miss a couple of them, but the better characters help a lot. Wizpig naturally surges ahead in the beginning of the laps, you gain on him and pass further into the lap.
@@AstroooooX he’s honestly pretty simple if you just hold some missiles and make your move on lap 2 or 3. It’s only rough if you try to force the pass immediately.

unlocking TT was my proudest gaming achievement as a child, and few even know the extreme challenge that it posed back in the day.

So for me it wasn't the myth of T.T being unlocked a friend told me you could unlock kazooie as well once you Best T.T too

It could definitely use a sequel!! But let’s be real, this game wasn’t easy 😅 especially round 2, and the worst of the worst challenges.
I managed to unlock T.T. with Pipsy _(easy handling, high acceleration, low top speed)_ , and brother!, it wasn't easy to get.
