Man, I played this game SOOOOOO much as a kid. I was furious when my save battery gave out as I got to the final boss, so years later when I got a new battery installed (Took me a while from sheer anger) it was SO intensely satisfying to finally beat it. I'm stunned how well this game holds up in terms of sheer mechanics.
Loved this game as a kid. It was just so much more than I expected and so different from anything else. Never beat it unfortunately, but I have such fond memories.
This was one of the few games that I’d get to compete with my sister. Each day we’d pass the game to each other and it was so fun to see how much farther she got compared to me
This game…besides Links Awakening DX and Pokémon Red & gold, this was my childhood with my original GB & GBC. Time to dig through the basement and see if I can find my old copy!
I absolutely LOVE Donkey Kong 94, even though I wasn't a 90s kid and my first experience with the Donkey Kong arcade game was a flash version of the game and I sucked at it. And this Game Boy game is an amazing remake and it adds so much new stuff and the music... If music was portrayed as food, I eat this up because the music slaps so hard.
A phone will never truly replace handhelds. Even with my Bluetooth 8BitDo SN30 pro controller, the real hardware is so perfect. Wish I could afford the Pokemon games still😂
The one thing I didn't like about it was the lack of familiar Mario enemies. I know it's supposed to be a reimagining of the old arcade game, and I wouldn't expect more Bowser associated enemies like Goombas or Koopas, but it should have at least some familiar post-SMB enemies! That is why I prefer Mario vs DK...
I had this on 3DS but my Microsd card died annoyingly. Really intresting game though with loads of content And yeah, the Game Boy is awesome, I still use it sometimes😂 Edit: I casually try to speedrun 99 lives everytime I play a mario game honestly, you're not alone Edit 2: Didn't even realise you were ill while watching the video, get well soon!
The Switch game is a remake of Mario vs Donkey Kong on the GBA, itself a reinterpretation of Donkey Kong 94 on the GB, which was a consecration of the arcade game that spawned Mario and DK. - DK Arcade brought the notion of the platformer to video games. The level design and physics of Super Mario Bros. turned the industry around after the crash. - DK 94, far from simply offering the basic game, improved all its mechanics, completely rethought its physics, introduced the acrobatics of M64, and offered a hundred levels versus the original 4. Replayability was excellent, with a life system that worked in tandem with the timer, dynamically adapting the difficulty according to our knowledge of the trickiest levels. - "M vs DK" GBA simplified the formula by focusing more on puzzles than on precision and speed, and by allowing you to save every 2 levels instead of 4, making life management, at the heart of the title, almost useless and less challenging. However, it retained the notion of scoring for replayability. - "M vs DK" Switch is very similar to the GBA game from which it originated. The only difference is that numerous difficulty options have been added, such as the absence of fall damage, and scoring has been replaced exclusively by a timer mode for end game. The game offers plenty of post-game content, but may seem bland compared to recent Mario games. The other M vs Dk games, including the "mini Marios", the franchise's mascots, focused on puzzles rather than platforms. Personally, my favorite is DK94 on GB, with its balanced challenge, enhanced level and mechanics that work well together. I'd even go so far as to say that I prefer it to the classic Mario games, which are still very good games. But they're very different games... just in the absence of scoling!
@andyalain6212 my favorite was Mario vs DK on GBA. The Switch version lacks a lot of the unique voicework of the original, and it feels too sterile as a result...
I'm glad Nintendo decided to remake the not-so-good sequel of this on the Switch. The updated 3D models of the characters lack all the charm and personality that these pixels have. Better leave DK 94 as it is.

I never knew that this was such a slept-on game. I had it in the early 00's and it was such an integral part of my childhood

This my favorite gameboy and mario's game all time
I replayed this so many times from start to finish. Definitely my favorite GB game.

as a 96 kid, I never knew this existed and even if I did, would have assumed its just a simple clone. Thanks a bunch for showing it off!

I love your videos man! Just found your channel now! Keep on making them!
I love that game, played so much of it. It needs a proper HD remake.

I like this new outro
Thanks! I've been working on it on and off for the last few months.
Does it have any soecial features when you play it on the Super Gameboy peripheral for the Super Nintendo?
The Super Game Boy does a few small things, but nothing major. It just lets the game use colour for its graphics, and enhances the soundtrack!
@@ScionVyse That's a win. I'll take it!
I loooove this one
My cart doesn’t save so had to rip it in 1 sitting lmao
Still not on NSO :/

What is your thoughts on the remake
The Mario Vs. DK remake? I haven't played it yet! I probably will soon though.

Hello how's your day going
Great sir
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Retro Donkey Games !
