- Опубліковано 28 кві 2024
- I'm showing you how to use Cronometer to track your calories and macros. This video is more of a beginner's guide to tracking food using cronometer. This is a very accurate and powerful app that can show you (for free), what your current caloric intake is, what your current macro breakdown is, and if your goals are supported through your current diet. There's no need to stress out about tracking, remember that it is only data to make better more self-informed decisions! P.S. I be mispronouncing the app throughout this entire video 🙃!

First, I really enjoy how you present your video and the editing is so fun! Second, I've downloaded a few nutrition tracking apps and Cronometer seems to hold up pretty well compared to the others. I like seeing all the macros not behind a paywall, too. Thank you for putting this together - it's quite informative and helpful!
Thanks so much for watching! So glad this helped you. And exactly i feel like you get so much more with cronometer. Even with the free version!

You are so welcome ❤️ thanks for watching!
I was a faithful MFP daily logger for over 10 years and since they sold out in October, they took away their free barcode scanner, which for me, is vital for food tracking. I googled for a good replacement and decided to try Cronometer. The set up was easy and I figured out the basics but needed just a little more insight. I have to give you a BIG thumbs up for your instructional video. It was the best out of all of them out there. You are a great speaker and video maker! Thank you and I hope to become a Cronometer fan now.
Awe you are the sweetest!! Thank you so much! This was such a kind comment! Much appreciated and glad you like cronometer!
This is the video that inspired me to download the app. Thank you! This answered all my questions!

Thank you for the video
You’re very welcome 💕
I know a lot of people discredit counting calories, but for me it has been a breakthrough to understand how unbalanced my diet have been..and how little perception I had about food. Finding proper combinations to hit 40% prot, 40% carbs and 20% fat is hard. I understood I was eating too little protein...and also the cheating days were extremely unbalanced...
It’s key to understand your nutrition and macros breakdown. It’s tedious at first but Any thing you learn for the first time will take time for sure! ❤️ congrats and thanks for watching!
This is seriously one of the best edited videos on UA-cam and great content too!
Aye thank you so much 💕
fax im an editor and the amount of effort that and how clean the vid is , is dope
Nice editing, thanks for info.
You’re welcome thank you ❤️
Really great review it was super helpful.

Awesome , love this ! Have a question. I might have missed it but when you added good in the apple . It looks like you just added grams . Do you identify what kind of food like each individual fruit in a smoothie?
Yes i measure everything in grams
Also i don’t really consume calories from drinks. So you really don’t see me drinking lots of smoothie . But yes if you wanna know the exact macro breakdown. You need to weigh each fruit
loved the editing on the tutorial part well done
Thanks so much🫶🏾

Two questions, do you have a video that shows how to set up your energy settings and macronutrient settings, and lastly can you sink the app with Apple Fitness?
This video goes over that & i have another video that shows some good features. But if your having trouble you can reach out to me via insta @chelleywest and I’ll help you there ❤️
I don’t think that app pairs with Apple fitness
Thanks Michelle 🎉

Thanks for watching ❤️
Hi Michelle. I need to up my calories to build some muscle. Later I plan to go into a calorie deficit to lose fat. How do I enter my details to build muscle? Many Thanks. Great video 👍
Hey Elaine.
General rule if thumb is to find out your maintenance calories and to go into a bulk, you would add around 200-300 calories to the number. Of course + strength training. Do this for a period of time to build muscle. Then you can stop your calories back down to a maintence and even there you would start to see fat loss, then you want to create more of a deficit , decrease your calories slowly every 2-3 weeks.
Hope this helps.💕
Thank you!!!!!
You’re so welcome! ❤️
Super helpful. Hope you crushed your contest!!!
Thank you!! I did awesome on my competitions this year. Thanks for the well wishes ❤️
Great video. Wish I'd watched it before I used free program for a week as part of a nutrition course I'm taking.
Please let me know if you have time, what does N/T stand for in the report summary. Sugars and added sugars are both marked N/T.
Hope you're still body building.
HI! N/T = No Target ! so funny you ask this because I never use the Report Summary hahahhaa. i only look at the macros day to day. I am still body building. ill compete again in 2025. you can follow me on insta @chelleywest to follow my offseason journey to new comp journey at the end of the year.
Great video, thank you!
Quick question. I really want to watch my protein intake and calories during the day. I am vegan and make many custom whole-food meals like legumes, bean soups, stews and curry, tofu, and tempeh. Also oil-free salad dressing, vegan cheese sauce, etch.
How do I add all this to the program? Seems like a lot of work 😢
yes it will take some work on your side but to really know your protein intake and calories when making recipes, you need to enter these in as a custom recipe. but the good thing about this is, you do it once it takes time but if you ever make that recipe again, it takes no time at all.
How do I document water intake? I use ounces or milliliters not grams. Also my connected devices are the same. Thanks
To be honest Susan, i have never used cronometer to document water intake and i don’t the app supports that. 🤷🏾♀️ i also don’t connect any devices to cronometer. I just use it for food.
Sorry I’m not a big help.💕
Hi! What do you do about the way Cronometer calculates calories? I’ve noticed that if I manually calculate my calories based on my macros that it doesn’t match what Cronometer says. Do you have your clients just target macro grams for targets? Do you use manual calorie calculations or the Cronometer one? Thank you!!
Hi Anna. If im manually putting in my macros, i won’t go off of what cronometer is setting for me. I personally will do the math of what my macros are and reset that inside cronometer so that im making sure i hit my individual targets for the day. When i assign macros for my clients, i will put their macros in cronometer manually and then do that math of what their calories should be based off the macros that i have assigned for them. I hope this helps 🫶🏾
great video, however, my bar code function is not working, do you know how to fix that?
Hey Kim
The only two things I can suggest is:
1. When the apps asks if it can use your camera you need to accept it; if you don’t think the barcode scanner won’t work.
2. If that first step doesn’t work, i would delete the app and redownload it and see if that works
Let me know if this helps 💕
@@chelleywest thanks for the advice, I tried those and it didn't work. I am typing in bar codes, it's a pain but works sometimes.
@@kimadamson7710 i would contact cronometer support! They are super nice and I’m sure they would be able to help you!
How do you input a cooked meal let’s say I am cooking pasta with chicken and it’s all thrown in a crockpot wit sauce and such how do I know how much sauce I have when it is individually portioned out?
you need to enter this is as a "Custom Recipe" so you would need to weigh out each ingredient that your putting into your crock pot. then the app will then calculate the calories and macros of the entire recipe. then you need to weight out that "portion" that you ate into the app. i measure that in grams.
How do you plan your shopping quantities based on Cronometer inputs for the week?
Great question! I don’t based my shopping quantities info cronometer.
I Batch cook for both my husband and I and when we have leftovers we just leave them in the fridge for the next day.
I also have diced onions and mushroom is the fridge. Always have 2lbs of 99% lean ground Turkey and 4 chicken breast cooked for my husand and I. 0% fat Green yogurt is always a staple and we alway have 2lbs of rice cooked and ready to go to add to meals.
I cycle through veggies so they don’t go bad and get eaten. And i only buy frozen fruits .
Then i just plug and play to fit my macros❤️ i hope this helps 🫶🏾
Cronometer is AMAZING!!! After using it for a year the free version I decided to pay for the premium version! Its worth every cent.
Here to learn how to use this app, when you log your food is it in meals? Or one day log?
Completely agree!!!
If you are using the free version? You cannot separate the food by meals.
You only can do this in the paid version which i highly recommend!
@@chelleywest Thanks Michael, yes at that time I was on the free version,
on the Gold Subscription now.
CM is the business.😁 TY
@@samg3203 you’re welcome! I’m also a gold user! ❤️
So do you weigh food raw and then put in that number? Or do you cook them weigh ?
If it’s chicken or beef or any type of meat that need to be cooked; i will cook it first then weigh it.
If it’s fruit or veggies that don’t need to be cooked, i will weight it raw. 💕
How do you add in food from restaurants or fast food chains?
You would enter that in like you enter in any other food item.
-Select the orange plus
-Select the Apple (add food)
-in search all food, type in what restaurant you need to search, then the item.
Disclaimer; there might not be much “fast food” to select from. The app definitely tries to sway you to not eat as much processed food, so you might have to guesstimate.
I hope this helps!
Do you weigh food before or after cooking to log in to
app?
After cooking normally. 👍🏾
Is there any way to switch to calories rather than kcal? That confuses me. Thanks for the tutorial.
Hi! Kcal and calories is the same thing. I would just ignore the kcal and just track ❤️
Can you do another video on the paid version? I’d love to know all it offers before purchasing the app.
I absolutely will! I’m a gold subscriber and i love it! 🙌🏾
Hi. Great video... thanks for this.
What food scale is that ? Any you recommend ? Thank you !
Hi! Sorry for this late reply!
amzn.to/3LhJIQz
This is the food scale i use! 🫶🏾
@@chelleywest thank you ! Great video
Do you recommend getting a scale?
I HIGHLY recommend it; yes! 👍🏾
Question, do you need a food scaler to start tracking your calories?
A food scale would be the most accurate way to start tracking your food so that you can actually see what the amounts (grams) of each item are that you’re putting on your plate to then put in your mouth.
In “Diary” I don’t understand that “burned cycle “ beside consumed, is that how much I burned today and they track my burned calories on the day or what ? Plus how does “remaining “ work? I’m more curious on “burned” cycle that how does it work.
The burned cycle is distanced around you BMRz but i will say when my clients
use this app, i will 0 everything out
I have the paid app but I can’t get my total fibre to show anywhere, any tips on that would be greatly appreciated
On the top bar, where is shows your macros, you need to scroll to the left to see your fiber for the day. I hope this helps.❤️
How do I put in the protein I need? I need to eat a lot of protein and idk how the change the macro numbers to fit. Think I need to consume 140 grams of protein and low carb diet
You need to change your target inside the app.
On the bottom car hit settings
Then hit targets
Then hit energy settings to change your calories
Hit macronutrient settings to change your macros.
I have questions:
1. Do I have to get all the bars to 100%?
2. What is "Men's health" bar?
3. How often should I add biometrics?
1. If you want interested in hitting all your macro targets for the day then yes.
2. I’m not too quite sure that the Men’s Health car is
3. Depending on what your getting out of the app. I just keep cronometer to food
How do I determine how much each it weighs I grams? I use FP & I enter as cups or ounces?
You need to weigh it on your food scale. Change the unit of measure to grams.
hey! how to look at all the micronutrients in mobile phones?
On the top bar, swipe your finger to the left a few times and there will be several options to see your full micro breakdown. 🫶🏾 Hope this helps!

Please how can I run mu nutrition and physical report on cronometer app.
Top right corner there are 3 vertical dots
Click that
Click daily report 🙌🏾
EXCELLENT video!!! Question though: why do my daily goals change? It 'looks' like my calories change every day...I'm confused as to why there are two numbers on say, kcals. Such as "Energy - 1403.3/1918.2 kcal"...I'm assuming that 1918 is my 'goal' and I've hit 1403 for the day? If that's correct, why does it change every day? 😂
Good question! So this will all depend on if you actually set your macros and calories manually versus letting the app set them for you. I find when you let the apps set them for you, then the numbers tend to change daily. Essentially the number on the left is the number that you’ve eaten in the number on the right is the goal. For ex 1403 (would be what you’ve eaten) and 1915 (would be your total goal for the day) of course it’s hard for me to really explain how to set your own macros. I kinda explained it a little bit in the video; and for myself, and for my clients, when I manually set their macros and calories, then the totals do not change day-to-day, they stay the same until you change them. but if you need extra help on how to navigate cronometer, you can always dm me on insta and i can truly help you there ❤️🫶🏾 hope this helps.
@@chelleywest helps ENORMOUSLY!!! THANK YOU!!! So glad I found your channel! Looking forward to learning more!

Hi. I have recipes that have macros and calories figured out for me but I can’t see how to just enter those without deconstruct a recipe or enter the whole recipe every time I make something the first time . How would I enter just macro and cal not “foods”
Unfortunately? You would have to deconstruct that recipe to put it into cronometer. You can’t just put in individual macros
@@chelleywest 😭
@@barbgallenberger7482 I’m sorry!
How do measure my body mass index?
weight in kilograms (kg) divided by the square of height in meters (m2).
I like this video so much cause it's not centered around weight loss! Just making sure ur getting the nutrients you need, which I adore
Recently started tracking cause I knew I wasn't eating enough even BEFORE I started swimming. My fellow swimmers know exactly what I'm talking about, that shit makes you HUNGRY
Absolutely! You can use cronometer for building , maintenance, or weight loss. But yes not everyone is on a weight loss journey 🫶🏾
How do i know if my weight has increased?
So once it goes over the 100% then we shouldn't eat anymore of that particular food that day?
That is correct. But this all DEPENDS ON YOUR GOAL!
How do we modify our macro goals
Hit settings,
Hit targets,
Macronutrient settings
Modify your macros ! ❤️
How do u change the calories to my numbers?
Hey Katrina,
So in the bottom right hand corner hit the “settings” tab. Then you want to scroll down to “Targets”. Under targets you will see “Energy Settings” in Energy settings to insert your calories you need to scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen where is says “Set Custom Energy Target” highlight that circle and insert your calories.
You can also change your macros under the “MacroNutrient Settings” under targets as well.
I use both featured to set my macros and my total daily calories. I hope this helped!
💕
What if you eat in public how are you supposed to track the amount of grams?
This is where your guessitmation needs to come in. So for example, You dont know unless you actually track and see what it actually looks like. So you need to spend some time actually tracking your protein intake so that you actually know what amounts and what sized look like. So then oyu can take that knowledge and apply it to the outside world. BUT what I will say is that if you have a goal with weight loss , or health, or muscle building. Taking a step back on eating out so much is going to be the key.
I dont see the Carb bar on the free version
its definitely there. first bar is calories at the top. swipe finger to the left and you will see macros. Protein . Carbs. and Fats. and if you are putting in your own macros. you need to switch the option from NET Carbs to Carb in Profile + Targets
how do you say a half a serving. what does amount mean 100 what calories?wish it said cups
.5 = 1/2 of a serving
I measure everything in grams to get a more accurate count.
How do I delete an entry
Hi Esteri!
You would just swipe left on a single entry and click the red trash can and that will delete the entry.
You can also hit the three dots in the top right corner and select “Multi-Select” then you can select the entries that you want to delete, hit the three dots again, then hit delete. Then i can delete multiple entries at once.
Hope this helps 💕
How do I set my calories 2460
Bottom right hit settings
Then hit targets
Then hit energy settings
Scroll down, select custom energy target
Enter in the box 2460.
That’s for general calories.
If you want to set macros you need to go into macronutrient settings
Then set each macro.
I hope this helps 💕
Please how can I run my ut
Don’t know what you are referring too?
but when i’m doing milk it only says serving 100ml so what do i do i’m so confused
1 ml = 1g
If you only have a 100ml service you need to divide that by what you drank.
So you had 50ml - then you would enter in .5 as your consumed amount ❤️
Soo I be confused on mahatma jasmine rice at 100g its like 70 carbs then on the internet it be different
100g of white rice is about 28g of carbs. I think you may be measuring it dry. Make sure you differentiate between dry and cooked
Hi! So for the free version, if you want to track tomorrow’s meal or meal plan, you can’t separate it by like bfast/lunch/dinner? It would all be one page of the food for the day I guess? I’d like to stick to free but just wondering if I’m missing a step here thanks! Still a fan just started using this to see if I like it more than MFP!
Hi Austin!
So yes, if you are using the free Version of Cronometer; you cannot separate your food by sections (i.e breakfast-lunch-dinner) that is a cronometer gold feature. 💕
I personally prefer cronometer over MFP it just looks cleaner to me. 🙌🏾 but i do subscribe to gold. ☺️

@@DeaDlyCorpsE528 so which app to do you like to use instead? I feel as though in this video i tell you exactly how to use the app. And how to enter your food and track how many calories you are eating.
