I truly love that you carry openly. Good on you sir.
Nice race quad flying, a pistol, camping and of course the motorised bike riding, all my favourite things in one video. Got my first 66 cc kit on the way to me so I’ll be joining the crew wooo-hooo !
Welcome to the addiction, ... I mean hobby :P
Thanks for riding with us, and good luck on your build! There might be allot of headaches at first, but it's worth it ;)
Stay safe, it's easy to not take these things seriously and get hurt.
@@LAHover I’m hoping to go to work on it but will have to be sure it reliable first I guess

wow...!!!!! Great video and drone footage...you have gone a long ways since the beginning....
I think I'm going to order a phantom 85 soon..!!!!
Thanks man! Will keep pushing forward :)
The quality of this video is great! As it always is, love the camera view 9:40

Great sunday!
This video was so chill.
Excellent update. Thank you.
Thanks, more to come :) I just hope she keeps running strong, because I love this motor!
what a crazy good video!!
Thank you!!
Louisiana is so beautiful! Nice update on the motor !
Thanks 👍
Really missed the drone flying usages. Glad you 're back. The end, glorious. Thanks for the ride.
Thanks for riding with us! Will try to bring the bird on more trips as we move forward :D
@@LAHover It's my pleasure as always; I really enjoy the trips, views and tech talk.
@@LAHover Once again I seen another new style of "100cc" 2 stoke engine pop up for sale on E-bay....It actually looks promising (but sadly so did the 50mm iron sleeve garbage)
It's 49mm piston, 2 piece head & cylinder, 8mm mounting nuts/bolts, allen/hex bolts (non iron sleeve cylinder) and comes stock with a beefy style round cylinder head that looks very similar to the better aftermarket 47mm colored aluminum heads. The cylinder head appears uses more aluminum than the standard stock 47mm heads or a YD100 cyl/head....I'm hoping this engine kit will actually be decent.
I'm glad to hear the Phantom 85 replacement is doing so good this time. Awesome drone footage man, especially the cloud shots on the road! Nature is so amazing to behold. Thanks Bro.
Thanks 👍
Great video still waiting on that little 49cc
Drone footage was sick bro, Awesome job
Glad you liked it, thanks!
beautiful drone shots. I think I will order a phantom85.

Nice video LA Hover! This is what motorized bike adventuring is, just go out the distance, trusting 100% on your own build and just braaap away! can't wait to do this kind of motorized bike camping adventure, i built a same bike as the F-zero but with a 4 stroke engine. Great review. My new phantom 85 has the needle bearings instead of the brass bushing in the wrist pin and it works just fine.
Bikes, drones, and guns! Its safe to say that we like alot of the same things lol. 👌
perfect for what we needed it for

Man, man, oooh yeah what a vid! I can't start the 49mm yet, boy she's a painted mess of a motor. I want the Phantom so bad! I'm getting a 49cc next, a experiment motor. We'll see if she's better. Phantom is officially the dream motor. Anyone bothers to ship it to Czech Republic?

Keep it up bud! 360 camera on a fpv drone love it.
I give credit to you for getting into the 360 cameras :) First time I saw one in use was on your channel. Loved it!
Sweet Drone footage
Even with those graphite hole things I think it would be even better to drill the oil holes in the new bushing. The oil holes are the 3 holes on the con rod
I was wondering about that too.
Yo bro love the vid man 👍I gotta get me a tank frame like that love it
Thanks, They feel good when you get the setup just right, but don't feel like you have to have one to enjoy these bikes. I put years on a $99 Cranbrook and my smile was always the same size ;)

Haha sorry Steve about the step 2 lol I loved Steve's channel
Coming back to this 2 years later I’d like to see another video of a minarelli or a saw. As always rewatching the gem videos of la hover
Awesome! Thanks for video. I completely agree with you on the rod bushing play causing piston break ect.
I upgraded my bicycle chain to another 415, not only does it look better, but I also no longer have issues with it popping constantly. Not a fan of shifters, in my experience they are a lot more apt to failures than just a simple sprocket sized to your pedaling needs
I just ordered a phantom 85. I hope I get a new one without those issues.
For sure because the first ones sound like there total pieces of sht.
Love the Steve Wallis reference
Is it safe to assume that all california motorbike kits are going to come with the revised bushing?
Also thank you for the honest review of the f zero. You confirmed a few sneaking suspicions I had about the bike not being perfect as an 'out of box' set up. That said you also confirmed some things that i really loved on paper about it as well.
I politely ask to keep me in consideration if you ever decide to part with that roller, as the hefty (though fair) price has always managed to be just a bit out of grasp.
As always thank you for the high quality content. Safe riding!
If I said California motorbikes when talking about the motor I apologize. As far as I know bicycle-engines.com is the only seller of the P85 ATM...
They pulled their stock over a month ago to replace all the bushings. Once they are relisted "In stock" they should all have the new bushings. I have also heard that even newer motors will eventually have needle bearing and will be ditching the bushings all-together. But as of right now I don't know how reliable the needle bearing information is.
To avoid ring snag try chamfering the cylinder ports slightly. Just create a slight angle on the piston side of the ports. Then sand paper the chamfer using 400 or 600 grit after grinding in the chamfer. For better performance you can also polish the ports after chamfering them and polishing the inside of the intake and the exhaust outlet using polishing compounds. It also looks like you could get away with polishing the inside of the cylinder to a good mirror finish before reinstalling the piston and rings.
Good video thanks👍Hey do you know when phantom parts will be available? I’m running my gen 1 with the new bushing from my gen 2 and it sounds so much better. My gen 1 just had a little piston wear I stopped it just in time. Still runs strong and I’ve been laying on it hard so far so good
I wish I knew sorry. I guessing they got set way back because of all the repairs. Good job catching the bushing before it nuked your motor :) Glad she is running strong for you!
Long barrel studs? Shorten them! I typically screw on a nut pst the threads, then hit the end of the studs with an angle grinder or a good sharp file. Take off a couple of threads. Removing your replacement nuts will rejuvenate the threads. Replace all the parts and ... you can figure it out from there.
Bike engines ran out of replacement phantoms, said more are in port so it'll be about 3 weeks until the rest of the warranties are filled.. for anyone wondering where their replacement is.
Thanks for the update.
@@LAHover Still in port. LOL. Never going to see those engines, it isn't bike engines fault, though.
@@Hunter1st nope. It's China fucking everyone over cause they know their sht is junk. And their not sorry about.

I'm perplexed as to why they're using a bushing for the Wristpin, and not a caged needle bearing...
I have been giving it some thought and I think they would have to replace the con-rod too.
Getting a larger bearing to fit in the zeda-100 rod would remove allot of metal making it weaker... Just my thoughts, it comes down to price.
If this bushing fails too I'm done with this motor, but until then I'll give it a chance.
@@LAHover a guy on Facebook did just that, machined the piston end to accept the caged needle bearing, and by his accounts to this point it's working as it should, but like you said, only time will tell...
What would be the difference between the new ones and the old ones are the Phantom 85
What might happen if you flip around the plates to have the u bolt on the underside of the front mount?
Only one thing kids is supposed to let the fire burn down before you cook anything on some of that wood might have resin in and give you a the food a little funky flavor
Thanks for the tip!
How about the vibes coming up the seat ?
I want a needle bearing for the wrist pin bearing.
Can't you get a needle bearing instead of a bushing for this engine ?
Wondering how and what you used for handle bars on the clampon fzero I've got a similar bike and trying something different because I don't like leaning
I had a set of stock steel Cranbrook bar laying around, I just cut them in half. Hope it helps :)
I also fllipped the clamps over so they would tilt up.
can you give me the measurements of these windows on the piston?
What fuel ratio do you run after the break in period?
do u think the v2 pahntom is worth the buy
I want to build a bike with the 85. My question is what bike is good for me to buy? TIA.
would the phantom 85 top end bolt onto a 80cc bbr bottom end?
that lantern gets very bright, where did you find it?
Walmart for about $8, any sporting goods store should have them. Amazon too for about $12
What's your EDC gun?
Is there such thing as a choke lever that connects to the bars so there would be no need to reach down everytime when coldstarting?
I have not gotten around to testing it yet, but here you go.

Hey, what is a bike you recommend I build this on? Thank you. I just want something that will fit this motor nice with disc brakes
F-Zero (felt faker) seemed to handle this motor well.
Did you go 100 miles away with your phantom 85 ??, it's like 160 km
Bro u have any problems with mufflers ? I have two of em and both taking a shit bro so many issues wirh these phantoms
Hey I follow you a fair bit. I bought the phantom 85 after I saw the video you posted when it wheelied on you. So I ordered it an got it it was a v2 I fallow all break but on the 7th running day it blew. I thought the chain broke what it felt and sounded like but my chain was all good . I pulled head off and the piston was in a 100 peices like it blew up in there an it had the new bearing so there was no play. Do you have any ideas what may have caused this?
This is likely not your fault at all. Many of them have been failing. Even mine did... ua-cam.com/video/AGaQiLP28Is/v-deo.html
The pistons keep breaking, so I swapped mine out for a MS460 Piston. So far so good, but still testing.
I dont really wanna mess with the inside, should i let them do the top end assembly? I dont really mind paying the extra
All the kits now have needle bearings :) you should be good unless you are talking about an older version that you already own.
Why don't they don't put a cage bearing there not out there off a puch tomos or something or convert cage bearing off old motor
@@LAHover like honestly I can't afford that ended for that price I weather build a low-budget minerali but this motor does piqued my interest and would like to see the difference of a stock engine compared to this engine but I'll take care of her the bushing problem the first thing without running the engine pop the top off and figure a figuration to make a stock caged bearings fit or something I'm sure I could do it and make it not weak or anything like that by using bushings and other things being really complicated to set everything up but once it's done it will be done
@@LAHover I hope to see one of these motors cheap on Facebook Marketplace for OfferUp something affordable to be able to do something with but before buying I'm going to tell the person if I could take the top off because like you say piston snag or any chips or anything like that scarring of the cylinder because at the moment they don't sell top end
Can anyone tell me where you can get a sexy frame that one this man has?
Please and thank you!
Should you not let the motor run for a good while at idle during first start up before putting it under any load?
I read that 4 times and I'm not sure what your are asking...
Edit: I'm blind sorry... ALWAYS a good idea to warm up the motor (break-in or not). If it hot out, about a minute seems fine. If it's cold, give it longer.
But You don't need to do this at idle, you can ride it the moment it fires up. Just don't go giving it the beans.
I have a china doll engine, and there's a slight knocking. Any idea what that might be and if that's a serious thing? Still going through all your videos. Thanks for your help
Could be a few things. Mechanical or tuning. Check the squish gap with some solder and make sure there is more than
.5mm between the piston and head at top dead center.
we need an update on the Phantom 85, also could you go better in detail on the zeda 80 cylinder trench boost port and did you ramp the piston , my zedas are stuck around 40 mph with 36 tooths
Update coming soon I promise :)
Funny thing is I have been collecting footage of rides for the Gen two with the upgraded bushing to see if it was going to last. But they just upgraded to needle bearings on ALL of their P85s now...
So I'm not sure what to do lol. Guess I'll just post what I got.
And I will also be going back into detail with the porting series too.
@@LAHover Hi, they just dropped the price on the Amazon Phantom 85’s from 319 to 289 plus there is a 20 coupon…less tax of course…pretty affordable….I just ordered aNikasil 52 mm cylinder and piston and rings for around 32$.. just to look how compatible it will be with the yd 100 or zeda 80 bottom end, Ken or Don posted their port timings I am going to just shoot for an average … anyway your videos got me to this point thanx..
Where you get the cnc motor mount for the fat frame? I can only seem to find 1and 1.5in mounts
Here is the one I have, the diameter was a little to small so I had to open it up. You might be able to find different sizes.

Two strokes o a slip joint where the exaust pipe meets the head . Look to motocross bikes , all slip joints . I made one for my bike and no more falling apart . I wish the makers would figure it out . Two strokes vibrate too much for solid exaust . Put on a slip and let her drip while you rip !
can you compare the zeda 80 pro to the regular zeda 80
I can't say when I'll be able to get one on a bike, but I will try :)
Where did you get those bars??? The stock clip on bars are uncomfortable!
They are bars off of a Huffy Cranbrook that I cut in half. At first I just did it as a place filler, but turns out they work great for me... If you got an old set of cruiser bars laying around, give it a shot.
Do you think the Phantom 85 is worth $120 more than a YD100?
I recently bought the cheapest reed valve kit on eBay. I have no experience here, but I'm wondering how it might compare to a "brand name" reed valve. It's not in the bike yet, I've only just pulled it apart to inspect
Good luck :)
@@LAHover I'll need it!
Hello from germany, what carburater size in mm you drive on the phantom 85?
Hello :) Right now I'm testing it with a 20mm carburetor. The PZ20. There may be better options, this is just what I have on it right now.
@@LAHover ok thanks, i have a 24mm carb from amazon, i will test it in my 66cc motor , i hope it will be stronger👍

I am new to this. Are these legal to drive on the road?
Yessir, anything with "pedals" is perfectly legal
how come you never see motorcycle gloves with wrist guards ? seems like it would be beneficial , do you ever run into issues with 2-strokes being at constant throttle heard it is not good for them
I would like to try them out if I ever find a pair :)
As for the throttle, looks like Johnny has it covered. I can't say how well these air cooled motors handle long stretches at constant throttle because my roads keep me on and off of it.

What tooth sprocket did you use
Ope heard it 😂
Should I get this for a first time build I’m pretty good with tools
I don't recommend the Phantom 85 for a first time build.
@@LAHover I’ve chilled out and ordered a normal kit and gonna use the rest of my budget
For a back rack lights and other safety things like mirrors I can’t seem to find a good 24 inc triple clamp fork set tho I liked the set on the f zero
I see the real star of this show (Henry) has a kitty co star . lol
I got a air leak on my reeds and can’t find where it is should I pull it apart
I'm still new to reeds (still learning) but I have seen other builders use gray silicone on the intake and reed gaskets. I have also heard that a reed motor can require a larger main and pilot jet to keep the mix in check. Here is an article that explains why. www.dragonfly75.com/motorbike/reedvalve.html
@@LAHover I wonder if the restrictor plate on the reeds can be opened up for more flow it looks to be about @ 1/4 or 5/16 inch on the dio I am going to do a wot test at a half inch and see if any noticeable speed change.
У меня тоже есть дрынчик))
A 28 tooth would be interesting, I know it could handle it on the road, but not on heavy trails
Should be a good match for this build, the bike does not handle trail well with these tires. I'll probably stick with the 36T because anything over 40mph makes me nervous.
@@LAHoveri can tell you this.. You will get almost double the fuel mileage at 25mph with a 28tooth sprocket, and it can make a 10-15 mile commute noticeably faster than a 36 or 44tooth.. I know anything below 80cc can't handle the 28tooth.. There just isn't enough hp from the engine bore of a 66 or 49cc engine for this gearing
Is there a reason why they used a bushing instead of a needle bearing?
I assume price... The con rod (if not redesigned) would need to be opened up for the larger wrist pin bearing. And that would also weaken the con rod.
What break In ratio do you recommended for this motor?
I did mine 40: 1 from the cradle, too the grave!!!!! All my builds!
I need some help with my bike, so I bought a Zeda 80 firestorm, I put it together on my bike so this is what I’m worried about. So when I pull the clutch handle it pulls on the leaver on the case however the piston still moves up and down when I roll the bicycle is this correct? Also it’s hard to spin the back wheel like it’s got a lot resistance. I’m not a mechanical guy just wanted to see if I could build one and not sure how to know what’s correct and what’s not.
The clutch plate might be stuck to the pads. This happens sometimes on new motors, and builds that have been set up for a while. Pull and lock the lever, open the clutch cover and if the plate is stuck to the pads pry it loose...
@@LAHover thank you for the reply and yes everything was super tight and stuck together, when I loosened the plate a bit the clutch went to how it should feel. And the piston doesn’t move up and down the jug when the clutch handle is pulled in.
What bike frame is that?
Modified F-Zero from bike berry
Which website did u buy that phantom 85 from plz
www.bicycle-engines.com/ out of stock atm. Think they are still swapping all the bushing.
Giz a txt when they are in stock please
Stock top speed estimates?
I got it up to 46mph before backing off, the crank is not as balanced as it should be.
Is the phantom 85 relyable
Nope! lol Powerful yes, but needs a piston swap to be reliable.
How do i fix my throttle cable on the pz 20 it’s a little short
You will need to trim about 1" off of the sleeve.
Best way is to snip off the bead, trim the sleeve, than solder on a new bead.
