CORRECTION! I was wrong, you want both shields on both bearings removed, so you constantly lubricate the crank seals. I thought you wanted one shield (on the crankseals sides) on both bearings, to reduce the airflow, but still leak out the oil to lubricate the seals. Once I rebuild the engine with a new balanced crank etc I will do that now.
Idk men the guy from Build-Break-Fix kept the seal on the bearing on the side of the case seals. I don't think those seals needs lubrication since all they do is seal the case.
@juancarlosrodriguez8381 lubrication helps make things last longer. Otherwise why even lubricate the bearings? Conrod bearings? The piston? Also I suggest you not taking bbf seriously at all

it wont make any difference in performance, it's just to cool them better. especially if you have a more powerful engine that makes a lot of power and needs more cooling.

You need the big reed valve kit, there are loads, one was £25 with manifold suggested for use on a motorised, but the seller didn't realise it was for minarelli. You can get kits with basically the V shape ( in cross section) reed valves that bolt on and still have carb coming out of the side. MXS, and many more. Funnily enough the minarelli vertical has same reeds/ inlet shape as the honda Dio etc and Peugeot speed fight etc engines. Honda and Peugeot have reeds in the crank case beside the cylinder on the left.
@@trentbikes yes but only a single sided one, minarelli cylinder wouldn't work without one 😁. Your inlet has the flow contact valve at 90 degrees. With a V shaped reed valve you get twice the inlet area. You know the reed valves that have a body that is triangle from the side? You can get an adapter. I have one in my cupboard, wish I could show you what I mean..... like reed valve on minarelli horizontal. Even the standard vertical inlet would work better than your set up as it aims inlet charge kind of downwards.

I think you can get an Athena cylinder kit for vertical..... with power valve! Useful for single gear.

How do y’all fix the lock up???? Mine ran for 20 minutes and now it won’t start, just locks and skids when the clutch is released. Got a new spark plug and switch on it, waiting on new CDI. Idk what else to look at
It's an iron minarelli right? It mustve coldseized so hard probably from running too lean and also starting up and taking off fast without warming up. Take the head off and inspect. Pull the cylinder off if you can

I thought the crank came balanced from California bikes. It says so on the description of the engine on their web site. That's a bummer if this engine does not come with a balanced crank everybody knows to run a minarelli hybrid properly you need a balanced crank. Great video by the way on this type of engine!!
Chain tensioner, I would stop using pull the back rim farther back ever since I stopped using chain tensioners I never have that problem no more I forgot what those thingies are called, but they use them a lot for dirt bikes to keep the rim in place use those
Already did this, I actually ordered half links thinking I will need them, along with adjusting the axel forward (it was farthest back). Moved it forward and it just fit with 2 links removed.

You do want to remove both of the seals on the bearing in order to allow Fresh mix to get to the crank seal in order to provide longevity and not having the crank seal dry out.

You’re supposed to let the bike sit for two hours while that’s on it’s a iron cylinder cylinder comes from a moped let it sit for two hours turned on turn it off after that. Let it sit for 20 minutes and then repeat. Make sure you use 40 to 1.
This is completely wrong. These are air cooled engines and don't have a fan too cool them so leaving it idle for 2 hours would cause it to overheat. Also, leaving it idle for 2 hours does nothing to break in the engine, a proper engine break in uses heat cycles and varying the rpm while riding the bike
2 hours? Absolutely wrong. That will in fact destroy an iron cylinder. The rings need to seat properly with mid range rpm. Letting it sit for hours will overheat along with drag from the new rings that will strip away the plating on the new cylinder. Have you done this and if so, have you check the bore afterwards?
And if you want to get technical about it on the heat cycle when it's hot you want to put the piston on the top dead center so when it cools down it doesn't shrink up on the lower part so you will still have good compression while the Pistons on the top

I have the 1972 CT 70 Honda that uses a small kick starter that still works good 50 YEARS later!!! That's half a century people. Yet they can't make the right starter for the 2 or 4 stroke these days. Those are all junk caveman engines.
Ok... They are bicycle engines. Made to motorize the bicycles. Made cheaply in china. $100-150 bicycle kits on ebay/amazon. Of course they don't have it. Don't even need starters, just pedal and drop in clutch to start, that's it. Thanks for the comment.

yes but cold/soft seizes. I can still re use it if I re-hone it, and maybe a bit bigger piston if the bore ever gets bigger from reusing.

My back rim locked up. I’ll be in traffic one time due to the piston expanding too fast. Scary shit. 💩 upgrade to better piston ASAP.
I bought mine from go max and didn't put 2 miles on it when I corked it. Didn't know I had to take it apart . 400$ lessen.

Don’t use that piston. That piston broke on me in pieces inside my motor not fun.
