We'll done 🚲💨💨💨💨 love the sound of it at the end of the video nice speed the exhaust and how you put the two extra piece to hold it down 👍🔥💨💨💨🤙💯
i am gonna get this motor beacause of you make it look fun
if you polish the exhaut duct it will increase top speed and performance and also get a foam air filter like the uni filter, its because of that the mixture fells rich but in reality it doesnt get enouf air thru
After 3 months, I'd guess that the replacement parts aren't coming! I got lucky and picked up a returned engine for $35 on Ebay with a good cylinder. Did the mod with an MS380 piston and the 2 bushings, 10mm wrist-pin and cage-needle bearing. Added an KX85 pipe and it screams! Hope it holds up better than the factory one did!
Wich bushing dimensions did you used??
@@omargdottin Sorry, I just saw your post. I used 10x12x8mm long, shortened the 10mm pin and used needle bearing.
Did the guy mentioned in this video pass away? I ordered this about 5 weeks ago and I’m still waiting on it. Should I just give up?
Great video. You're actually explaining the issue.
Thanks
I still want bearings in there
me too, they make the engine much quieter
If it's fitted properly, yes and being a two stroke 😁
man im glad someone finally showed a proper fix . not that i have a phantom nore would i buy one at this point . good job on that . how ever looking at your expansion chamber pipe . i have to ask the stock pipe that comes with the phantom is way bigger. did you mod the pipe to fit with no restriction? i ask cause in the video it looked like it was a bit small compared to the stock pipe .
So much for the Giant Killer!
Thank u
oh ryan’s still makin stuff?? awesome! i got his st3 clutch a while back and i think this motor is the perfect candidate for it
That my biggest issue with my phantom, the stock clutch just can't handle it
i've been to West Palm Beach several times i wouldn't mind living there now
I like the bike, keep it up sir. If you ever want to try out a 56 mm Stihl Frankenstein, I have one still up for sale on my website I believe :)
It's very true, ripping power. I was @ 1/4 throttle doing 23 mph. Sometimes it frightens me.
Ya feel like you just got off a roller coaster a big one.
The problem of your motor "4 stroking" may be the reed in the reed valve manifold. If the reed is to stiff it can cause the incoming air not to mix properly with the fuel as it moves over the reeds. Less stiff reeds could be the fix there.
Phantom 85 head, cylinder, piston, crankshaft in a YD100 case? Does this help a lot with airflow through the transfer ports at the bottom or something? Since Phantom 85 case doesn't have those.
Is the ngk spark you mention meant to be slightly longer? Went down the shop today to pick one up but it is slightly longer than the original one
How is it been running I have my 2nd ,2nd gen phantom coming the 1st one blew up all types of metal fragments were in the crank when I open it.but what oil mix u using for break in?
Where can I buy a new piston and cylinder head for the 85cc phantom
If you're phantom 85 is still running it just released a needle bearing
where did you get the tape that is on the narrow part of the exhaust? it must be to shield you from the heat
Cool video" on timing, WPB' born at St Mary's & surf the pump house, there was a place off beeline hwy & military trail going west where we rode dirt bikes 4x4 & shot rifles out of city limits back in the day " is that place still there by chance,
I found the LD 100cc to have a zmn100 connecting rod with a 12 mm wrist pin. And it comes with bearings not bushings.Chain saw parts work best .
Good luck and Ride Safe
Ya,I also wondered why he was running a bushing and not needle bearings.
So how many tanks are you doing for a break in? I want the Phantom 85 so bad, but I'm in Central Europe so... can't get one. I'm getting another motor soon, idk which one yet
Usually 2
Hello I have a question the MS 460 piston is 1 mm taller than the factory phantom 85 person right?
You have to drill tiny holes in the bushing to allow oil to penetrate to the pin.
Winner. Not only that the little end will spin round and move. That's bad. And the sides of the bush need machining.
No wonder it still rattles
@@mikerammelt2420so thats good to drill the?
try old small outboard marine engines i will be trying the small evinrude roller bearing for the wrist pin
Did you put any oil on the small end when you put it back together.
The sides of the bush should be level with the sides of the rod Little end.
I was told that to that the bottom half is from a yd100 I got my phantom in the other day and I noticed that when I was installing the wrest pin and bearing that on my yd100 it's 10mm but on my phantom it's 12mm so if there both yd100 bottom half why is that different?
Just wondering if you had a link to the carburetor you use in this video cheers
What octane and oil mix? It seems the motor would get hot without a cooling fan that's typical on chainsaw engines.
Gwt a temp guage to watch your temps to help with jetting
I do that all the time. Cylinder on the side and head reads 282F. Exhaust header reads 370-389F
Hi could you tell me with the 80cc piston bearings fit on the phantom 85
EDIT:yes they do :)
I know its an old vid but how did u make the exhaust? I have the chambers just need advise and why the different reed?
Will it fit in a Schwinn trailway hybrid frame?
I have to do that I might as silicone on the gasket putting it back together
What’s the rod length and stroke on a phantom?
Where can I get the clutch for the 85 Phantom
I got an iron 66/80 iron sleve with the 49mm piston it ran sluggish changed the carb and been playing hell to get it tuned any thought if u have email to get ur info I live in Tampa
Where did u get ur whole air fuel mixture system?
That's awesome. Great video. Please do me a favor & dress for the slide, not for the ride.
Stihl chainsaw piston works with the needle bearing or you can get just a needle bearing now they come with it
Where did you get the carburetor
just ordered my phantom v3 they say your supposed to run it 20:1 during breakin period this seems very rich to me but ive heard a lot of people saying they run it 25:1 during breakin and then go down to 36:1 but they reccomend 25:1 after break in. Idk i dont know it all or anything but could this possibly be why some people are having problems with the wristpin bushing and piston rings? someone who knows something lmk cuz im not trying to blow mine up lol
Did the guy mentioned in this video pass away? I ordered this about 5 weeks ago and I’m still waiting on it. Should I just give up?
How long did that bearing last?
What size sprocket 36 or 44 or 48
Could you tell me where I can get an expansion chamber for my phantom 85
Is yours still running? Stock?
Yes
What kind of pipe did u use on that motor? I am wanting to upgrade mine but just don't know what to look for.
Never mind u talking about the pipe lol
Maybe the 3 in 1 you used when assembled affected the bearings
What carburetor is that?
Is tgis the Version 2?
How did you remove the old wrist pin sleeve?
Just pushed it out!
Just just push hit one more speed crime
Did you adjust the timing?
The 4 stroking had to do with the fuel on this motor. No need to adjust the timing
Well done man. Subbed.
Seeing as this is actual US-rated 85cc. Would you reccomend this over say the BT100 or the YD100 from Zedda?? (torque wise especially).
Thanks
Yes it has way more torque
Well I’d say if ya ant a crank bearing and bushing failure and ring snags go form the phantom otherwise build a ms440 or 380
I love this far more than my yd100
it's so quiet even at 37mph
Yeah mine did blow up and I’ve been waiting over a month and still haven’t got it back
I meant bushing
Any ideas on how to get one unsezied?
Take it apart and inspect
@@MJTechChannel rod is stuck on the downward stroke
I have a 80cc with
-Reed valve
-windowed piston
-mikuni carb 32mm
-performance cdi n spark plug
-power boost bottle
- 36t back sprocket
-expansion chamber exhaust
Do you think I can hit at least 40mph?
im asking because I’ve only built it, i havent turned it on yet
what was your top speed?
@@topdog3407 62mph
Bad mother for break on ran well probly goona get a 60mhr mother when broke in all the way .good job can I have it please
Did you reuse the wrist pin clips?
No, I got new ones
Install them slowly but powerfuly acuret
is that not supposed to be a needle bearing??
welpz it's time to get the Chinarelli vs phantom 85
Would be a good race but we don't k ow what these 85's will do yet.
@@kjsmolik yeah, but I'm also having a special order coming in, Iron sleeved Chinarelli is happening but it's for something I'm not sure if i can do it myself all the way without issues, and probably my longest trip, pompano beach to key west and back (400 miles). if you can relay anything to me to make sure i don't have issues, I'll be greatly relieved for I'm already preparing for the worse.
@@ArthronOfFir3 I would say inner tubes, extra chain, extra clutch parts. Head gaskets. Spark plug. Definitely extra cdi, magneto and magnet. Clutch cable.
@@kjsmolik i think you seen my build on the FB group (zeda mafia) but didn't show the whole build due to what I'm going to be doing with it and recently been working on this to be themed to Iron Maiden (they forced my hand to make a themed build(i have list of things that forces me to theme builds i do as current, maiden was on it and hopef it never happened). currently using mags but going to build my own wheels now that have access to good tools. you forgot tools and probably loads of cash.
@@ArthronOfFir3 You’re in Pompano and I am in West Palm Beach. We should meet!
Is that mph?
I think your 4 stroking problem is got to do with your exaust were the pipe bends down it seams too restrictive
Where's your chain guards?
I bought the V3 version and it has bearings instead of a bushing
Why not just slightly chamfer the ports in the head?
Want to see top speed after break in
It’s coming soon
120 main jet
What carb?
Why wouldnt you just use a needle bearing?
Who sells modified or improved trouble free engines or bike kits? Let me know with links pls thx
U'mm that small end bush is no good. It needs to be "pressed" in (interference fit) otherwise is will spin in the small end and cut the oil off to the little end. That's bad.
Those oil holes need a drill bit through them with a nice radius to catch the oil.
That old bush has come loose and moved around. Being with a split is correct. Every little end bush I pressed in and machined was steel back brass or copper. Go to an engine shop and ask to see a small end bush out of a diesel and that's what you'll see, but Big.
That little end failed due to lack of lubrication either because it came loose as is evident by those solid brass Bushes. Your going to have to knurl those and Loctite them. Dodgy as. I'd check the little end with a telescopic ball gauge. Because if that guy made those bushes to size they shouldn't fall through the hole. What's the OD of those. Ones wrong.
Don't run it to lean. Two strokes are supposed to smoke.
Back to your vid
@Mike Rammelt, was going to say the same thing, bronze bearings needs to be pressed in or it will spin and damage the rod
I'm betting you have a top speed of 55 to 60mph
Right on point!
Prove it!
My motors have roller bearings that might not last
how to solve overheating issues w this motor?
Probably running too lean or too much oil on your mixture
@@MJTechChannel sweet thanks man! still in break in can’t wait til the bushings are back in stock, can u post a link to the mikuni carb u got?
Copper bushing ? No. Its bronze. Your using a bushing....... I think a bearing has less friction.
Yeah and is not supposed to fall in to the Little end. Needs to be a pressed fit then machined to suit the pin.
Can you get a hold of me please. I got questions
42mph... HALF THROTTLE????
hy would anyone get this motor , it is defective from the box , lolo what a piece of crap ....the manufacturer should be sued
I’ve had mine for a year, version two. It seems like they are not consistent
l
Don't waste your time, get up all the parts put them where they belong in the dumpster,
$22 for that?, watta rip-off!, smh
