of course the minarelli is gonna have more torque it was designed to push a 500 pound scooter. the aluminum athena cylinder is better no cold seize issues

Aye, seen a couple of well intentioned but naive people slap those minarelli kits on mag wheel and skinny spoke wheels. Then they wonder why they get constant warping and breaking issues.
Like you said, That immediate torque you get Vs the crappy Chinese factory cylinder/head combo is wild.

I have a Zeda 100. The 1st cylinder and piston broke. The piston pin retainer c clip snapped and got stuck between the piston and cylinder wall. I have replaced the cylinder and bought a windowed piston with a different type of c clip. I also put a reed valve and upgraded carb. It's been running really good. I live in a area with lots of hills.

I ran a yd 100 at 39 mph (GPS) with nt carburetor/ jet size .71?) and stock exhaust , with a 41T rear sprocket. The unbalanced bottom end vibrated excessively for enjoyable riding, to say the least.

There is absolutely no point to buy that kind of motor that is over 50cc. It is just bicycle motor, 50cc is more than enough.

I started out with the BT80. It's a shame the cylinder design has such insufficient cooling, because it really is a great quality motor overall. The high cylinder temp combined with the very short intake almost guaranteed it would vapor lock and stall on a hot day. I managed to reduce the heat a little by retarding timing, and running a thicker oil mix (25:1). Replacement cylinders were almost always out of stock, so I just gave up on it and replaced it with a generic 66/80cc that I ported and converted to case reed. It's more powerful than the BT80 and much more reliable, but I miss having the stator to keep my battery charged for my lights and accessories (just manually charge every couple of rides).

You didn't ask, but I'll give you my opinion, if you want it. I've had both, and I think the yd 100 is worth the money. It is faster, higher end parts, better carb. I have heard the bt 100 is the best of the 100's, but I haven't found one. I think you have to order it from another country, and s&h runs about $200.00l)

Great video, and thanks for the feedback! I actually purchased the Wildcat Plus Upgraded Ported PK80. Cylinder is ported as described, and the magnet is very strong. Did notice it was hitting the coil, but a quick readjustment fixed it. Muffler is not port matched. CM shipped mine in two separate boxes to keep the rate low, so I am still waiting for the 2nd one to arrive. Very eager here.

I've been building these kits for about 20 years. I started when these were coming from China with a lot of the Russian part in the beginning. The only kid that was ever truthful was the 50cc or 48cc in truth. The 66/80 I never understood, and they always put cc after like it was an 80cc engine. I've looked at all the 100cc kits there still 66cc. They've gotten away with it for over 20 years.

    • @SyberSqueegy

In the west, the volume of a cylinder is calculated by using the formula Volume = Pi x Radius Squared x Stroke. However, in the east the displacement of an engine includes the area of the cylinder head's combustion chamber as well as the volume of the cylinder. Therein lies a discrepancy between measuring standards by the manufactures in China with those in the United States. However, all "100cc" engine kits on the market today are actually 78.6cc in displacement size if measuring by US standards.
